I was referred to Guys by a colleague and I couldnt be more thankful.I was quoted $1,000 more for work that Guy eventually determined I didnt need but did need other services done.Guy even ran into some issues towards the end of my fix and stayed late on a Friday when most guys would have told me to come back on Monday.My car is running great and I saved money. I told them I thought my car needed wheel bearings. They drove the car and said yes your correct. They changed both front wheel bearings and the problem wasnt fixed. The front desk person said I need new tires and thats the cause for the sound and vibration while driving. My tires are less than 2 years old and in excellent condition. Do not go to this place! They just want to make money. Look at their parking lot. They have over 10 vehicles with no plates. Its sketchy and not a business that I would recommend to anyone.After posting a review I received a phone call and a partial refund which I greatly appreciated. That act of kindness prompted me to change my rating from 1 star to 4 stars.

If you are looking for a great service at a great price go to guys automotive. Dan is the man who runs the shop and he has been a good friend of mine for about 10 years. He truly is a great person. He goes above and beyond to please his customers. He will not allow you to drive your car away from the shop without fixing your problems. He does things that the dealerships at a much more reasonable price. He is incredibly smart and a master at his work. The mechanics are impeccable and Dan works with them to make sure everything is done properly and with the best quality. Is also a very funny man and will make you laugh which is a great thing to experience when youre having car problems.

Seemed knowledgeable in the beginning but Once we received our E250 van back it had issues from the start . originally went in because the transmission was slipping. we were told it needed a rebuild and to replace the external cooler, so we agreed to have a complete rebuild and the cooler replaced . when we received it back it was shifting hard and seemed to take longer than normal to go in to drive we were told that was normal because it now had heavy duty clutches in the trans well over the course of the next few months it progressively seemed to get worse until it wouldnt go in gear at all. we were then told that our warranty was almost up (1 YEAR) and the issue we were having was not covered by that warranty . now that the van has been sitting for months till we could afford to have it rebuilt again we took it to another local company and the owner who has been in business for 25 years has told us he firmly believes they never replaced half of the parts nor did they clean the original cooler lines which were also not replacedThis is a prime example why i dont normally take vehicles to anyone other than the dealership we will not be going back.

Ive been there twice. The first time was because my steering pressure dropped. They pretty much knew instantly that I was just low on steering fluid and filled it up for free. Literally didnt charge me for anything. Months later and thats still working great.Second time, my brake pressure dropped rapidly. They found the leak in about 10 seconds and fixed both sides.Both times were a great experience. Honest, quick, and straightforward.

Great shop! Zack there did a great job getting some suspension issues fixed on my 4runner. He kept me notified of any changes and got the job done quick, even though it was quite a large job. Thanks to zack and the crew there for a great effort.

If i could give 0 stars i would these gentle men broke my water pump on my vehicle and caused my head gasket to be blown. Instead of owning up to the fact that they broke my part and basically cost me an engine and attempting to rectify the situation they advised me there was nothing they could do about it. Ill be taking out a lawsuit for the damages they caused to my vehicle.

Highly recommend! I went to a mechanic and they estimated me for around $400, I dont even think they listened to me when I told them my problem. Went to Guys and Danny knew what the other mechanic shop said I needed fixed wouldnt cause the problems I had. All together the diagnosis, parts, and labor cost around $200 so I saved money and got my problem fixed. My car is running great, lifetime customer now. Call and Danny will take great care of you!

Guys is an excellent automotive shop. They are fair and do excellent work. I recently had some issues with my suspension and they worked with me to get the work done at a fair price. I highly recommend them if you live in the Tampa area.

Fantastic auto repair shop. Ive been taking my Volkswagen here for years now after seeing some positive reviews online and decided to check them out for my regular maintenance. These guys are great. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and never try to rip you off. Theyve even given no charge when they checked my car and found no issue. Thats pretty rare to find in a mechanic. Super sweet and made the experience great! Funny but realistic about whats wrong with your car. My Jeep Grand Cherokee limited edition hadnt been blowing AC and turn signals for a month. There isn’t a finer garage around and that is why I drive a distance to take my car to Guy’s on Hillsborough. These people are master technicians. Orlando and Antonio are super skilled at their work. Dan at the controls is like a magician! And what hair! There is a good atmosphere in here and now even a towel in the bathroom! I would never hesitate to send someone to Guy’s on Hillsborough. Dan will take care of you and keep your price reasonable, often with ingenious alternative measures. He is quite adept at getting goods from junkyards and other recycled places too. The Honda dealership told me I would need to replace the transmission on my CR-V at a cost of $4,500 so I went to Guys for a second opinion and Im SO glad I did. After their thorough inspection, the transmission was fine but they found other issues like the CV joints, brakes, oil leak, on-board computer update, AC compressor, etc... Dan Pena worked relentlessly w/ my warranty company to keep my cost as low as possible and I ended up at only $700 out of pocket w/ a one year warranty on their work. Really glad I found a trustworthy mechanic.

Dan is awesome. My 2009 Mercury Sable broke down in front of his shop and he was kind enough to fill me in on the details of what went wrong. In my case, my engine was full of coolant and I had blown a gasket and needed to replace the motor. They did the work for me extremely quick (less than a week), at a great price, and was up front and very informative about everything. Boy do I love this place! I was told by my Ford Dealership that I needed a new A/C evaporator at a cost of $2,000 and 2-3 days labor! I called Guys and was quoted same day service for less than half the price. (If this doesnt tell you what a rip off dealerships can be!) Heres the kicker - when Guys got my car, they informed me that I had ZERO evaporator problems and that my issues where with excessive pressure and a semi-broken fan. They found this AFTER I told them I didnt need diagnostics done.Imagine if I had spent $2,000 and never had the real problem fixed. The best part of Guys is the customer service. They texted me a week later to make sure all was still running well. Very thankful for their work.

I went into the W Hillsborough location yesterday for a quick inspection to see what the problem was and to then have it worked on. Ended up not paying a dime. We located the issue being that the coils were on the wrong spark plug & together we fixed the issue. Now my mustang is running on all 8 cylinders. The guy I tried to offer to pay something but he asked if I could just leave a review for his good work. Me & my girl are very thankful. I am returning to this location to get a new drivetrain carrier bearing put in soon.

I am new to Tampa, and needed my front brake pads and rotors replaced. The first garage I visited quoted me at almost $600, a figure I (with limited auto knowledge) knew was overtly costly. I found Guys and made a call. The GM, Dan - despite being extremely busy - replaced my brakes for half the price I was initially quoted, and had the car available before my work day concluded. Highly recommend!

We had a 2008 SMART ForTwo. We had owned it for less than a year when we started experiencing a loss of power. We took it to the Benz dealership and were told that two of our three cylinder heads were cracked. It was going to cost us $6800 to repair it.Needless to say we were unhappy. The car was only worth $3000 and we still owned quite a bit on the car. We called around but most other dealerships in the area wouldnt even look at a SMART car.Guys was a godsend. Not only did they look at our car, they determined that it was the actuator, and not the cylinder heads. $500 later, and the car was running like a dream. Weve been going to guys ever since!

Originally I really liked this shop they seemed like an all around good shop and they did good work for many jobs that ive had done with them. Unfortunately after the most recent experience with these guys I must say that they have been very unprofessional and underhanded. I brought my car in for a transmission rebuild because i was getting a P1716 code on my infiniti g35 that required the valve body to be replaced along with the rest of the transmission due to the damage. My car has been running well but started to slip again after 6 months or so and when i first brought it in I was told it was running fine. I then get the same P1716 code that caused the rebuild in the first place and was told that they didnt have any record of doing the valve body on my car and that they only did a full transmission rebuild and my warranty only covered the transmission. They are denying that they did the work even though I have record that this was done(My car also wouldnt be running if it wasnt done seeing as how thats why the rebuild was done the first time.) They have been very underhanded with handling this warranty because the person running the shop that handled my car at the time is no longer their and their only explanation is he kept bad records and we have no record of what was done/ put into your car. Not only that they gave me two different invoices at the time and only have record of one that has virtually nothing written on it. Their best remedy was to wave labor and make me eat an $800 valve body repair cost even though i paid for the full rebuild with a warranty. Their are plenty other shops that not only do good work but uphold their warranties. Stay away from these guys ive spent thousands of dollars at their shop in big jobs just to be screwed over in the end with a warranty issue on their side.

I was called a top customer...usually means I spent too much money on mechanics. The second car I brought to them, needed some transmission work. I was told that all I had to spend was $3,200; would not have to spend a dime more, and everything would be covered...like Aamco- who is right next door -did for me. Well, my transmission still isnt right! And Guy (the owner) refused to honour the warranty of his former manager, he claims was stealing from him. My 335i was never put back together correctly. The bottom fell out out on the way to Key West. Today, it makes flapping sounds in front that were never there; were never attended to, even after requested he fix that on another visit. Engine screws from the top were missing; validated by other mechanics. Meanwhile, Guy kept reminding me that my Twin Turbos were coding. I had another mechinc check this, as his former top customer no longer trusts him. Catch this: the vaccum system hose was crimped (by a tool) and was not in the right/normal position. I fired him immediately! What an unbelievaby BAD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE! Not only was he breaking my car, he was not even putting it back together correctly. He will NEVER touch one of my cars, again. FYI: he is not good with customers; a real ******! Stay away. Youve been warned.

I hardly ever write reviews, but we had such a great experience at Guys today, I had to share! My husband and I just moved to Tampa last weekend, and about 500 miles into a 1200 mile move to Tampa from Arkansas, my check engine light came on and I noticed the turbo indicator on my 2008 Saturn Sky was acting up. I could tell I had lost a lot of acceleration power, but we decided to push through and luckily made it to Tampa. I was very nervous about taking it in anywhere to have it looked at (firstly because I was afraid it was something major and was going to cost a fortune but also because I didnt know where to go or who to trust in our brand new town)! I jumped online and after reading other positive reviews about Guys, we decided to bring it in and let Dan take a look. He was able to quickly diagnose and fix the problem (luckily just a broken clamp), and he was able to fix it same day for under $200 - what a huge relief!! Thanks, Dan - I hope I dont have any issues anytime soon, but if I do, I know where we will go :-)

Plus they keep lying to us about they’re going to help us save money, but the price is like $900 and up that’s not saving. First visit: I had a sensor on my on my prius go out. They diagnosed it and repaired it no problem. It was under warranty. Second visit: I had some trouble warning light come on. Had it towed to Guys. I kept telling them I had a recall notice and it was probably related to that. They could not find the problem. Took it to Toyota dealer they diagnosed and fixed immediately. It was the recall issue. Third visit: brought my mother with her Honda accord. They replaced her carburetor and it did not fix the problem plus when I reviewed her repair file we found she had already had carburetor work recently. She hollered and they worked something out with her. At that time I looked online a little more closely at Guys. I had seen some very good reviews before my first visit, but this time I discovered by digging a little more deeply that one of the reviews I had based my decision on going there in the first place was written by Guy himself. That was a big turn off. Plus the inability to diagnose my prius issue. And then the carburetor issue have all kept me from going back. Yuk.

I never leave reviews but I was blown away by the level of customer service I received at Guys Automotive. Danny is a master of customer service and I can tell you I am now a customer for life. Honesty, Integrity and a candid way of communicating, such a breath of fresh air. Tired of bringing my 2008 Acura MDX to the dealership for excessive charges and recurring issues, I tried Guys based on the reviews, best decision Ive made in a long time! They found the issue to be an old and faulty engine mount, and fixed it for a reasonable amt ~$600. When I got the car back Danny mentioned the steering wheel was clicking. I was shocked when I tried it because I had not experienced it prior to bringing my car in. Although Im sure it was just a new issue brought on by someone adjusting the wheel, Danny insisted that they keep the car and fix it for free, even if it involved replacing the steering column. Well, it turned out to be a much easier fix but Danny kept his word and didnt charge me for it. He also texted me after I took the car to see how it was driving. Seriously, they are the best. Thank you Danny!

I have to share my wonderful experience, on Monday I had taken my car to work because it needed to be turned on and driven. I went to work in the morning I met my husband for dinner and it just didnt seem that my AC was blowing any cold air. While were having dinner I was surfing the Internet and walk through the Internet and I found Guys auto repair on Hillsborough Avenue. I told my husband im going to call them to see if he works on Volkswagen Jetta TDI and I explained several problems to him over the phone and realized that I needed to take the car in so he could see it. I met with Danny I explained everything that I needed fixed and he counseled me and fixing the most important thing first, which was the air-conditioning. Let me tell you this car is a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta TDI diese. l had been to the Volkswagen dealers, specialty air condition shops and no one has been able to find the problem, until now! Danny was awesome, they took my car apart, took pictures of everything that he was going to replace and text them to me. He told me exactly what everything was going to cost in detail and I told him to go ahead and do it. Today, Thursday, June 29, 2017 Danny told me I could come pick up my car and after turning on the AC it runs better than when it was brand-new. Id like to thank Danny and his technicians for an awesome job! HORRIBLE!They fix the car based off what a diagnostic says, not off knowledge.Paid just about $500 for my problem to only be fixed for about 10 minutes of driving from the place.Called to see what was up with that & they said theyd have to look at it again, as far as money, Id be paying again for whatever they touch, which makes no sense, because they messed up to begin with.Larry is a nice guy, but apparently he wasted my time and money.

I have a 2007 Volkswagen and took it there to get a few after market parts put in. I needed some transmission fluid which they changed out (it was very expensive but vw does require higher priced maintenence) when I went to pick up my car the woman told me I needed a new flywheel and asked if I wanted to do it right now the flywheel with labor was about $1,600 to put in. My husband was insistent on getting it done but I decided to decline and get a second opinion. I took my car to the dealership for a diagnosis and they told me my car didnt even have a fly wheel and that there was nothing wrong with my vw. Save your self money and do not go here. Dishonest

If you own a used SmartCar, please go to Guys. Theyre the only repair shop I found in Tampa Bay that is not scared to service SmartCars, and is competent when it comes to working on them (looking at you Mercedes of Tampa).They just recently repaired my Smartcar back to health when I thought it was done for good. I am only going to Guys going forward, I cant thank them enough for their services.

I dont typically write reviews but i had to for this one. Im not from the area and i came here because of all the great reviews I read. I have to say they completely EXCEEDED my expectations! I have an Acura RL that was making whining noises. After a thorough inspection Guys was able to diagnose and fix the problem that same day. I was explained in detail the reasons for the noise and was given options and fair pricing for the work. The guys here are polite, extremly knowledgeable and professional. When i left my car was driving like brand new no noise and very smooth. Definitely recommend this spot if your having issues with your car and if I ever have issues again (knock on wood) I will definitely be coming back!

I drive a 2001 Acura CL that had an intermitent problem where the car would sometimes not start and would randomly shut off, took it to two diff auto repair shops who said it could be a few different things that could cause that and they could not get the car to duplicate the issue so they hooked it up to a dianostic computer and I walked away with a bill for labor and the car still not working. I researched online looked at Guys automotive who boasted of having Honda experience, well Guys came through. The dudes at Guys went the extra mile, besides just hooking it up to a machine and waiting for codes to simply tell them the issue, when that failed they took time to take apart the car to visually look for the problem and found that the ignition switch was burned up enough to cause the malfunction. Also based off your knowledge of cars they take time to explain to you over the phone what the issue is. It was a lil pricey but done right is done right, I would rather pay for quality work instead of people just hooking up things up to a computer like other shops. I am very satisfied

My Electronic Throttle body light came on in my Chrysler 300 SRT8. I had to leave the country for 9 months and the car sat in the driveway. Upon return, the car wouldnt start or shift out of park. I took it to Jim Browne Chrysler off Florida Ave, and they wanted to charge me 1,400 just to START my car, trying to convince me that i needed a new starter, battery, and shifter assembly. The estimate wasnt even for the initial problem. I called Guys and spoke with Dan the Manager. He had me in THE NEXT DAY, and the car was fixed the same day I brought it in. With the exception of my battery needing to be charged. He and his team not only SOLVED my issue. They saved me $3000 and a headache. No new battery needed, no starter needed, no new throttle body.Funny thing is, IDIDNT EVEN NEED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT SIMPLY NEEDED TO PLUG AND SNAP INTO PLACE. The dealership never took the time to even figure that out.The only thing I was charged for was them re-assembling my shifter assembly. GUYS really took the time to FIX my car rather than UPCHARGE for all new parts and labor. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. Dan and his team are super friendly. HIS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWESOME. He kept me in the loop the whole time, and was STRAIGHT UP with me the whole process. If you can get your car to Guys, its well worth it.

My experience was enough that Im bothering posting. I called because my car had been overheating and I wasnt sure why. I made an appointment with the manager, Dan, to bring it in a couple days later. When I arrived, I parked on the side and asked where the entrance was because I had a 400 appointment. The mechanics in the back were rude and said no I didnt. They then said the manager was on lunch break and hadnt said anything about my appointment to them and shrugged their shoulders at me. I waited after the appointment time and he never showed. Hopefully just an off day but Ill never go back.
