Joel is simply the best! I have struggled all of my life with flexibility due to neuromuscular issues. I had sought help from all sorts of medical doctors over many years and tried all kinds of alternative treatments to no avail. In 2019, I was in constant pain and couldn’t find any permanent relief or long-term fix. I had recently tried physical therapy (again) and the last doctor I saw recommended a kind of nerve surgery. One of the best days of my life was when I randomly stumbled upon Joel through an online search. After reading more about Dr. Joel Seedman including all of his degrees in the field of exercise science and kinesiology, I was skeptically optimistic. Fast forward a year and a half later, and Joel has changed my life! While I temporarily paused my training due to the covid pandemic, I have been able to maintain my exercise routine at home and remain fairly pain-free. After training with Joel for almost a year, I see major changes in my bodys form and function. Joel gives me a unique plan each session along with his undivided attention. The way he blends science and practicality is amazing. Although he trains professional athletes, I feel no disfavor because of my age (over 60), my condition (MS, in a wheelchair), or my time/energy limits (once a week). I have known and worked with Joel for 11 years. He has given me all of the tools I need to stay fit for life. Im writing this about my daughter, she plays high school softball, currently a junior, and injured her left knee 2.5 years ago. She had minor surgery and tried to rehab through the physical therapist at the surgery center, and again at another physical therapy center.Just would not heal and always in pain. I ran into Joel when he saw her in a brace trying to do an agility class with her ball team at his facility, introduced himself and spoke with me about the issue. I was very skeptical, had spent a lot of money and time with therapist up till this point, had all but given up hope. I thought I would give him a try, but had low expectations, considering all she had went through till this point. I will never forget what Joel said to me after evaluation her I can fix her, give me just a few weeks, and she will begin to see results . We saw Joel over the winter months, and when spring ball started she was back in the game, then played every varsity game in HS ball, no injury at all, and is now playing fall travel ball season, still strong. Actually roller skating again, and enjoying the things she used to. Oh, and did I mention, she is a catcher, and doing fine with that knee for 8 months now. I cant thank Joel enough, he did get my daughter back in the game, and did what he said he could do, I honestly cant believe it sometimes, but she is doing great. Thanks Joel, you dont know how lucky I feel to have bumped into you that night last November.

I’ve been training with Joel for 7+ years and have observed a lot of other personal trainers along the way. Joel is hands down the best trainer there is. Dr. Joel was probably the best investment we’ve ever made in our son, Teddy! Teddy was just a good athlete before working with Dr. Joel and now, a year later, Teddy has become a stellar athlete. Teddy’s biggest issue was his strength...his fundamentals in both of his sports were on point but it was time to put weight on In order to excel. Teddy had weight workouts before yet suffered a fracture in his back from lack of knowledge and supervision from his previous trainers. Teddy started with Dr. Joel soon after that and because of Joel’s knowledge and one on one focus, he not only increased his strength he completely rehabilitated him. He designs these workouts truly specific to the athlete which is exactly what growing children need. A lot of trainers don’t understand the importance of growth plate impact and bc of Teddy’s injury we had to find a real expert. He’s not the cheapest but I wouldn’t trust my son’s bones to anyone else!The workouts aren’t easy, but because of the amazing results, Teddy looks forward to his time with Joel. I think my favorite thing about Joel is that he’s become a friend to my son. He talks to him constantly about eating correctly and accountability. I started training with Joel several years back when I was still an undergrad and he was finishing his doctorate. After dealing with chronic bicep tendonitis around my left shoulder for several months, I sought medical expertise which only temporarily alleviated my pain but never actually addressed the source of the problem. That is when I reached out to Joel for help.It is amazing what simple postural correction and alignment coupled with proper form will do to one’s body in correcting imbalances and strengthening weaknesses. Within a couple weeks of training with Joel, my shoulder pain disappeared completely and my body, in general, felt much better. I continued to train with Joel for several years until I moved to another city for graduate school, but I definitely miss our training sessions. Thankfully, Joel prepares you more than enough to train on your own safely and effectively. I was introduced to Joel two years ago. Joel was training my daughter, a collegiate high jumper. I was on the verge of exploring surgery on my shoulder after several years of very severe pain. After Joel’s initial assessment on me, he determined the pain was caused by inflammation due to poor weight training technique. He believed the issue could be resolved by proper training.I was 54 years old when I met Joel. I have done some form of weight trying most of my life. Joel started my program from the feet up. His attention to detail is extraordinary. He monitored every movement the entire workout session. I began to notice a signifant difference in my strength, posture and overall functionality within three months. Im a professional athlete and sought out Joel after seeing his videos on Instagram. My goal was to unlock my physical human potential while reducing body fat, increasing strength, and gaining explosion. If physical therapists and trainers who count out reps have failed to heal your body, you owe it to yourself to work with Dr. Joel. An obsessive focus on form is one of the many secrets Dr. Joel brings to every session.I began working with Dr. Joel in early 2016. I was working 70 hour weeks, around 205 lbs and in daily, nagging pain. A year out from right shoulder labrum tear repair surgery, traditional physical therapy had fail to stem the pain that occurred daily since the initial injury, a car accident in 2010. The pain was in my neck more than my shoulder. And physical therapists had no answer for how to get me pain free. The advice had always been “you need better posture.”Dr. Joel was undaunted. We began with a full body assessment and got to work. Posture isn’t a matter of thinking about it, as all my previous medical professionals seemed to think. Posture come from form and strength. As we worked on my form, my pain decreased but would still flare up. I dropped fat steadily and at my lightest was around 190 lbs a few months in. Once the form was there, the fun began and we began to add weight, and I began to pack on muscle. And as my strength skyrocketed, the pain disappeared. These days I’m sitting around 215 lbs, 6% body fat. My posture is close to perfect, and I spend zero time thinking about it.I just got back from two months chasing after elk and mule deer in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, a 30-60lbs pack on my back, covering up to 15 miles a day. I felt great. To even think about such an endeavor three years ago would have been laughable. Dr. Joel will change your life in ways you likely can’t even imagine. To wake up everyday feeling better than the last is addicting to say the least.

A unique training experience with a very smart and well experienced trainer. I tore my labrum in my throwing shoulder and begun training with Joel and made a 110% recovery with his help. Definitely the most knowledgeable person in the fitness industry and you will be very satisfied with the results as numerous clients can attest to. I will try to make this brief so youll read it, but I could go on for pages. I woke up in pain every morning looking forward to another surgery with the hope it would fix everything. Dr. Joel Seedman is one of the top strength and conditioning coaches in the industry. I began working with him 3 years ago while I was playing professional golf. I was already athletic and strong, but Joel helped me optimize my performance — he helped me realize that last 1-2% of my performance potential that is unachievable without a coach.Within our first two sessions, he was able to identify my weaknesses, and we built a program that addressed them. He informed me that I was actually hyper-mobile and was exceeding optimal ranges of motion during all of my strength training exercises, which likely added to the aches and pains I felt from swing a golf club 1,000 times a day. Over the next several months, we primarily worked on increasing my stability, anti-rotation exercises (yes, that’s correct...it actually determines your ability to rotate better), and deceleration training, among other things.After just a few weeks my body felt better. Joel showed me techniques with the main barbell lifts — deadlift, squat, bench, press — and how they have a therapeutic effect on the body and how you function when performed properly.The great thing about his approach is that he does not try to sell you a bill of goods or convince you of needing some super secret method of training. Yes, some of the exercises we did and that you’ll see on his Instagram and Facebook pages are different... but these are all supplements to a base strength training program. If anything, Joel cuts out anything that won’t optimize your performance and focuses solely on what will make you better.I cannot recommend Joel highly enough. He gives the same effort to all of his clients, regardless of their goal — whether it be training for the NFL Combine, or someone seeking general wellness. This to me not only speaks to who he is as a coach, but also to who he is as a person.
Dr. Joel Seedman is the reason that I am able to be pain-free of severe backpain caused by a herniated disc (L4,5) that I suffered three years ago. From the very beginning stages of my injury, Dr. Seedman worked with me and taught how incorrect movements had caused my injury to occur. Through functional strength training focused on proper movement patterns, he built me up to be completely pain-free of my back issue with added strength and knowledge to boot. I would absolutely recommend Joel to anyone.
When I decided to start strength training in earnest about 4 to 5 years ago, I decided to include more compound movements, something Id never done before. I was the type of guy that used machines and just about always skipped leg day, so I knew it would be challenging, but I didnt know how challenging. Ill spare you the long buildup - I threw my back out at least 3 times doing what I thought was a dead-lift. The last time I wrenched my back so bad that it was painful to roll over in bed. Think about that for a second. I ended up going to the emergency room the next day with a walker (Im in my mid-thirties.) I had had enough. I decided I was going to find the best personal trainer I could and fix the problem once and for all.I asked around my gym and got recommended to Joel by some of his other students - Im big on personal referrals - and did some research on my own and finally decided to write him an email. He was very understanding and we set up a first session.Im not sure what I was expecting, but Joel was everything and more than I couldve imagined. I cant put into words what a fantastic experience every session was. I was blown away by his knowledge of all things fitness (probably not the right word to encompass the full breadth of his expertise) - this isnt some guy that got a certificate after taking a week-long course at the Y (no offense.) This is a guy who will forget more about physiology than most will ever know. A true standout in his field, intellectually, practically, and professionally.But having lots of knowledge is useless if you cant teach others in a practical way; a way in which they will take in useful information and adapt it to suit themselves. There are plenty of smart people who cant implement what they know practically, much less help others learn from them. Ive known so many big, strong guys in gyms who had zero clue how to help me or others, specifically when it came to proper form. Joel, on the other hand, knows not only what proper form is, but he knows what proper form looks like and what proper form feels like AND he knows how to adapt that to your body AND how to teach you to feel it too.Lastly, Joel has a passion not only for fitness, but for training others. You can absolutely feel his energy in every. single. session. The guy loves what he does and it shows. It was a pleasure to go workout with him each session. Also, hes just a great guy with a fun sense of humor, so it was like working out with a good friend, not a rabid drill sergeant.This review is already waayyyy too long, so Ill just say, if you are looking for some personal training - maybe youve hurt yourself and just dont know where to turn - stop asking the bros in your gym, stop watching Youtube videos, and stop posting to bodybuilding message boards. I originally went there because I had gotten in a vehicle accident and my shoulder was killing me to the point where I could not sleep or work. After week two of working with Dr Joel Seederman I did not feel any pain whatsoever because of the list of exercises he had shown me. I am now fully recovered and back to working as I did before I got in the car accident.
Working with Joel has been a fantastic experience. He has helped my daughter, a collegiate athlete, recover from knee surgery and prepare for the next season. She not only rehab’d from surgery but went into pre-season in the best shape of her life. I tore my ACL skiing last year and Joel has helped me recover without surgery. I have had a solid recovery and I have been able to improve my overall health and fitness. I have never felt better! I highly recommend Joel for everyone.

Joel Seedman, PhD is, hands down, the best strength and conditioning coach in Georgia--and the Southeast and USA, for that matter. Hes published in every top publication, and he brings his excellence and insight to every client: high school, collegiate, and professional athletes; bodybuilding and figure competitors; and even banged up 40-somethings like myself. Heck, he even works with nanas and grandads. Professional and passionate, Joel excels because, in addition to his vast knowledge, he does what a lot of trainers dont: he listens and he observes, and he uses what he hears and what he sees to help his clients improve. My own experience with Joel led me back to certain exercises I had convinced myself I was too old to do: squats, deadlifts, jumps, olympic lifts, etc. The difference is, Joel helped me progress through modifications and basic forms of each, slowly advancing me toward more challenging progressions--but only when I was ready. And the reason we were able to progress to this point is because Joel emphasizes how you perform not just what (or how many) you perform. Do yourself a favor, ditch the latest fad, read Joels materials, use his programs, and, if you can, train with the man in person. Hes a proverbial game-changer.

To write a review that would fully explain just how awesome Joel is as a coach would take way too long so I will do my best to get straight to the point. Joel is one of the most knowledgeable and creative strength coaches in the nation. His philosophies and methodologies on training just makes perfect sense and in an industry where there is an abundance of bad information from so called “experts”, it is refreshing to listen to just one voice and drown out the crowd noise. Many of his clients come to him broken from years and sometimes even decades of poor coaching and advice as a last ditch effort to try and avoid surgery having tried the physical therapy, chiropractor, etc route. After just one session, some clients will feel immediate relief from their chronic pain and over the next few months most of the ache and pains will be gone. I can say this because this is exactly what I experiended. I limped into our training session having just herniated my disc in my lumbar spine which paralyzed my calf for a week due to the excessive inflammation. 4 years later I have competed in body building, powerlifting, a triathlon and a half marathon just to name a few. Joel has influenced my life so much that instead of pursuing a degree in the medical field I will be pursuing my Ph.D. In hopes to model my career path similiar to his. I highly recommend getting a session with Joel, you won’t regret it.
