I went here yesterday and I just have to say. KATHY IS THE BEST!!! She worked her hardest to help me and then at the end of the day gave me $100 for my troubles. GREAT JOB Kathy!!
Kathy is the greatest person to ever be at the post office. She personally gave me pleasure under the table then she handed me $500. I owe my life to kathy because somebody came into to kill and kathy pushed me out of the way to save my life. Thank you kathy!
Today is February 4, 2021. I have not received any mail delivery since January 30, 2021. I do understand their wasn’t any mail delivery on February 1, 2021 due to a snow storm, any day since then is totally acceptable. I have called the 800 number and received a message “delivery may be delayed due to Covid”. I have tried calling the main phone for Summit, New Jersey Post Office and no one is answering their phone. If their was an option for a below 1 star that would be my rating. An overall rating for this post office would be a 2 1/2. I also have not received mail on many rainy days.
Same shipment of anything takes much longer there.
The woman who is seems to be the supervisor is simply rude. Actually, Rude doesn’t even begin to cover her horrible attitude. Before closing she lowers the gate making people still waiting for service feel unwelcome.The man at the desk was helpful. But the woman had no patience. Before closing she yelled to me, “I don’t have time to stand here all day” and waved her hands in a frustrated fashion. While waiting on line she was not only rude to patrons, but belittling and talking poorly about her coworker at the desk.I’ve lived in Summit a long time and Jeff who delivers the mail is fantastic. If I could give him an individual review, I would... 6 stars! But this is not the first time I have been poorly treated by the woman in this post office. This is my first and only review on google, but feel warranted.
Everyone that works there is incredibly and utterly RUDE. The lady that always works there, you’ll know who I’m talking about, has the nastiest attitude that I have ever come across with in customer service. We are going through a pandemic, I understand things happen and you can’t control your anger but be a human and have some compassion. I’ve had loved ones died of this diseases and am depending on packages to help console my family. You have no right to talk down to me and make me feel like a psycho when all I am trying to do is track down a package. What disgrace to this establishment you are.
The mailbox outside the post office was packed when I dropped off a first class package. That should have been my first sign. Its been days since and the tracking on it has not been updated. I am so worried. Do they ever open the mailbox that is right outside their own post office building?? Did my package get stolen? Did it get lost? Super worried.
Kathy strikes again! I have just briefly scrolled through these reviews and found multiple complaints against Kathy. I have had a similar bad experience at the Summit post office. Unprofessional, rude, and assertive. Sadly, she gets to be a jerk and I have to find a different post office if I want a pleasant experience. Whoever the manager is should be ashamed and embarrassed he employs people like this.
I always try to go to John at the far counter from the entrance. Always professional, always courteous. Never had a problem with anyone therebut John is the man.
After I booked online appointment, I visited to apply U.S. passport because USP website said this post office offers taking passport photo service. But a lady, her name is Kathy said no more photo service since 2 years ago with so rude manner. I argued then the site should have updated, otherwise people would come to apply without bringing a psaaport photo. But she never apologized or will report to be updated. Never professional. I asked her if there is any place where can take passport photo, but said she doesnt know. I googled and figued out that a CVS where is 2 minutes away can take a photo. Why didnt she tell me? She must know it. She was so rude, and never try to help customers like me.
Absolute bunch of morons. After my package was supposed to be delivered today it was apparently Held at Post Office, At Customer Request. I never contacted/requested this at all nor did I ever ask for this. Even better the attempted delivery time was a lie as I was home and waiting in the living room of my house at this time. I would have clear as day seen anyone trying to deliver my package but no one was there at all. No package slip was left or anything. Instead I call and get put on hold for an extremely absurd amount of time. Idiotic staff and service.
The midday line was long.There were two clerks, neither of whom expressed a sense of urgency regarding customer service.It is unwelcoming and unpleasant to wait in that room.If you must use a postal clerk, my advice is to go to the New Providence Post Office. :(
Any time I need to go to the Summit post office, the staff is helpful and direct. No nonsense answers and quick to help me and get me on my way. We do use this post office for some of our business mailings of 200-500 pieces so sometimes there is added time for them to provide us postage and that is why they just miss the 5 star mark... If 4.5 stars was an option, thats what it would be.
They always deliver my packages to the wrong place or they completely loose them plus I bet that the workers there are mentally not 100%...Fred (the supervisor) is nice and reasonable.But in general third world countries have way better postal services..unbeleavable
I am a self employed individual and I usually get my paycheck thru mail. I missed my paycheck twice this month because of this careless delivery person that delivered my mail to the wrong mailbox.I resides on Risk Ave Constantine Townhouse
Summit NJ USPS might be the nicest place ever. I love this place. Great parking and wonderful people. Never missed a shipment, very helpful. Best post office in the entire world.
This is THE WORST POST OFFICE EVER. I wouldnt even give it enough credit to call it a post office. Mail never comes. Countless complaints made and no one does a thing. I would never trust or mail anything here. Our mail at our business doesnt get delivered or picked up for a week or more at times. Bills just dont come. Parts we have overnighted are found in the bushes. We get 10 other peoples mail and never ours. If I could give this place no star I would.

This is the WORST post office I have ever dealt with. Its almost 7pm and after a phone call to the post office to find out where our mail is we still do not have it. We are closing and it has not been delivered. Packages have been found behind planters, in the bushes or not delivered at all. We have had to have numerous checks reissued because they never get delivered. Carmen does nothing. Patrick does nothing. All people who claim they are supervisors do nothing. Consumer Affairs has been notified twice and done nothing. I think this post office is a waste of space and money. Close it down and expand a functioning one that delivers mail properly and has staff that want to work.
Someone needs to get fired but they cover up who. Packages never get delivered on time. The tracking always shows that the package is delivered but it is not and then the package magically shows up at your door during the next business day when you open up a lost case.Another trick “package is held at the post office by the request of the customer”. Guess what ? I paid $25 for delivery so that my package gets delivered to my door, not for you to make a fake claim that I want you to hold my package and drag my kids to the Post office and stand there in line and then carry my infant and my package to the car while I have paid for DELIVERY!!!! Shame on you for covering employees who fail to fulfill their responsibilities

I just went there today and I enjoyed doing the self service thing. Its better than waiting on line.
The staff Ive dealt with inside were always very friendly (and sometimes funny!). My mail-carrier is a different story. My house shares a driveway with a set of businesses and despite the fact each mailbox is labeled (and the commercial boxes are away from the residential ones) the carrier still puts clearly labeled mail in the wrong boxes and sometimes just drops packages on the porch, regardless of if they belong to a business or the house. This was brought to the attention of the post office and it got worse.
Saw another person had the exact same issue. Package was supposed to be delivered today, was out for delivery since 9:47am. I was home all day and no delivery attempts were made. At 6:52pm, the status of the package was changed to Held at Post Office, At Customer Request.I can understand that sometimes things happen and packages get delayed, but to flat-out lie about it is ridiculous. Dont say the customer requested a package be held at the post office when you never talked to the customer.
Worst ever. My postal carrier won’t deliver a package over a couple pounds and when they do deliver it goes to the wrong place. I have been warned by other postal workers about his incompetence. No wonder the us postal system is going bankrupt.
I request that the mail be held quite a bit over the summer. They cant seem to get it right. When I get home, I have a mailbox full of mail. Called and spoke with a supervisor, and his attitude was terrible. A major shake-up needed in that office, from the top down!

Kathy is so rude, very poor customer service, she can even answer a simple question, it was my first experience using a mail service and obviusly i need it a guide how to do whole procces. She needs a vacations or the company needs hire people with good manners. Horrible service ever, if i need to send anything else i going to use fedex.
I will put 0 star if allowed. worst window service ever. full of discrimination. we went there for passport service for our 11 month old, and was turned down multiple times nitpicking on passport photos. The employee just want you to pay to use their passport photo service or an affiliated photo shop nearby. (they dont care at all that direct FLASH is harmful to babys eye). Definitely avoid it if all possible.
Agree with other reviews. We move a lot and this has been the least reliable USPS weve encountered. My mail makes it to the post office and then disappears with the mail carriers there.
This post office is totally dysfunctional. Avoid it like the plague. They are incapable of simply reading an address correctly. Window service: forget it. Go to Chatham or New Providence if you need window service. The Summit post office desperately needs new management.
My husband and I completed and submitted a hold mail form with the Summit Post Office for the dates of 5/19/18-5/31/18. We were given the option to have the mail delivered to us after the 31st or to pick it up in person; we chose to pick up in person. Today, 6/6/18, I went to the Summit Post Office to pick up my mail. After waiting 20 minutes, the staff at the desk said I swear to God there is no mail for you back there. She confirmed there wasnt a hold mail form attached to our unit box, and assumed the mail was delivered by the carrier. I ensured this was not true- as NO mail was delivered to our home to cover the dates were were away. The supervisor intervened and confirmed our regular mail carrier was on vacation during this time and someone else covered the route. She politely took my number and called me back about 20 minutes later. While on the phone, she laughed at the fact that her staff dont know how to read and dont read hold mail slips so they probably delivered your mail while you were away. Well- we do not have ANY mail from while we were away. So our mail is either missing in thin air or likely stolen, probably the latter. I inquired how to file a formal complaint, since the supervisor assumed zero responsibility or concern for our missing mail. She advised me to go online and complete either an ECC or ECE (she wasnt sure which one). I asked her to explain what an ECC/ECE was and she was unable to answer. She then placed me on hold and started to bad mouth me to her colleague- stating, This lady is asking me what an ECC is. I should have never called her ass back. SUPER professional! Isnt the purpose of holding mail to keep it safe? Obviously with the Summit Post Office, that is one big joke.
Some lady named AKEYMA is horrendous literally worst person to talk to when asking simple questions on the phone. She’s immature and disrespectful. Makes no sense that a nice town like Summit hires degenerates at their post office. These people literally steal our stuff and all the say is “oops sorry must of lost it”. Scum and the town should be ashamed
Opening hours are from 10 am - 4? pm even tho it says something different. Went there yesterday at 4.15 and they were already closed. Went there this morning again at 8 and theyre still closed?! I guess that opening hours are there just to fill the door but no one really cares! I could compare this post office to a dentist because you really dont want to go there.
Guy asked if I wanted Star Trek stamps. I said, No. His response was, Sorry Sulu. Im Asian.
Excellent customer service, quick and knowledgeable. I was in and out mailing my package.
They closed out out appointment to get a passport for our newborn before we got there so they could leave early.

Some of your drivers do not know where I live. I should have had a package delivered from Target on 7/9/16, I saw the girl in the truck pass my house-she appeared to not know where she was. And no mail came either.!!!!
