The clinical staff has been great thus far, always very attentive and quick to respond. However, the front office staff, especially the office manager are rude, dismissive and impolite. One would hope that excelling in these qualities would be of the utmost importance when selecting front office staff. Avoid this place.. there are other offices that will treat you with respect and dignity.

This is the scariest doctor’s office I’ve ever been to..First, they do not have any phone skills. They just hang up on you. I was threatened about 4 times that I’d be discharged as a patient for calling the office. I’ve never been late, never missed an appointment nor have I had to cancel to reschedule an appointment in 4 years. Patty literally lost her temper with me over the phone and screamed at me. In my opinion, the front office needs professional help. They are angry. Remember the movie One Who Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest? That’s their office and Patty is Nurse Ratched. They treated me as if I was some Psycho. I am a recovering alcoholic and I am borderline apologetic for saying these harsh words but it’s true. I wish them mental health.

I went to this office for 7 years, I didn’t start having problems until the new office staff. They are rude, they are messy, disorganized! I called for a prescription refill and was told it was sent. A few days later I went to pick it up, the pharmacy didn’t have it. I called the office, they said it would be sent that day. 3 days later, after calling and no one answering, I was told that the NP couldn’t sign it and they have to wait for Dr. Olivera. All of that would have been fine, if they had just told me that from the start. I never had an issue with waiting, I had an issue with being lied to. If you’re someone who needs prescriptions in a timely manner, this is not the office for you. Just by me asking why they kept lying and why couldn’t they just tell me from the start that it would be a week... I was threatened to be discharged as a patient. This went on for about 6 months. I was finally over it. They also definitely capitalized on covid and using their phone call appointments. Those were a total joke!! The whole operation is a joke!! You’re supposed to see the doctor once a year, I hadn’t had an actual appointment with dr. Olivera in probably 5 years. I was just always pushed to a NP. There is a HUGE turn over in nurse practitioners and office staff. When I first started at riverview, I had Andrea Briner-Johnson as my NP.. after the months of being lied to, threatened, and screamed at by the Riverview staff, I sought Andrea out and found out she had opened her own practice. Best thing I have done!!

The therapist I was assigned was amazing. Whats was not amazing was the administrative process. The receptionist is so rude, I am truly baffled on why they have her in that role. I have called before for an emergency appointment and she indictated that my therapist didnt have any opening for a few weeks. I asked if she could double check because it was urgent. She said she would contact the therapist and call me back. I never got a call back. Finally after not hearing from anybody for the next two weeks I sought out other treatment, but gosh what if this was a life or death issue. They are dealing with people with all sorts of things going on in their life and I would think that in her role in particular that a little more empathy would make a bigger difference. additionally while sitting in the waiting room for each of my appointments they would individually call everybody up for their copays and they could get quite rude when there was a payment issue. Again empathy would be great. Theyre on the spot with collecting their money however then they make you wait for your appointments and cut it short at 30 minutes and 45 minutes to get as many people in as they can. I would not recommend this company. In fact, after seeing how they treat clients, I think any therapist worth their salt probably doesnt stay long here.

My wife went to see Andrea the nurse practitioner and could not believe how unprofessional this woman was in her first session at the office. My wife has been waiting for a month to get in to see Andrea who was extremely rude right from the start of their session. The visit began with Andrea belittling my wife for what medications she was on, and when my wife began to speak of her conditions I was shocked to hear that Andrea had the audacity to tell my wife that her condition was her “own fault and now she has to deal with it.” She said this in a horrible tone. I find this to be extremely unprofessional and downright mean to do to someone with a mental health issue that is coming to you for Help! When my wife told her that maybe this was Not going to go very well since she was upset and on the verge of tears.....Andrea then said “yeah I don’t think so either.”After reading all the people with similar experiences at this office I would not suggest going here.P.S. Andrea’s a trump supporter so I’m guessing her bedside manner kinda goes right along with the presidents style of doing things.Run away from this place. Also many of the 5 star reviews are obviously fake. Written on the same days by people with similar names. They are doing this to counteract the bad reviews.Shame on this place for milking insurance companies to get rich off peoples illnesses and not even bothering to help them!!!!😖😖😖😖😖

As you read a number of the latest reviews this is not a facility that will have your best interest in mind despite it being a mental health service. My experience with Dr. Olivera was just that. In my experience it resulted in a need to file a complaint with the BBB case # 90562137, & the Florida Department of Health case # 2011460 along with a complaint to the federal government resulting from Dr. Olivera refusing me services because I requested that he complete basis Short Term Disability paper work for my employer a 2 page documents which Dr. Olivera stated he didnt feel he had the expertise to complete & because he may have to go to court. Dr. Olivera became angry when I confronted him regarding him being an MD & not having the ability or desire to complete the required basic documents. Dr. Olivera then informed me he was canceling my schedule therapy sessions along with the scheduled medication review. You can read the details in the BBB complaint # 90562137. However Dr. Olivera office file a claim with my insurance carrier. This facility will do more to negatively impact your mental health than help you, & still file a claim with your insurance carrier. Please note in the reviews; all positive reviews are 5 stars which I question there authenticity always 5 stars & 3 to 5 years old. Also note the negative review all appear to do with Dr. Olivera & his staffers negative attitudes & failure to provide services. As a professional who once worked as a license Therapist for over 25 years about 10 years ago this is not a facility that I would recommend to anyone no matter what you are struggling with.

Holy cow, Im actually pretty surprised about some of the negative reviews, so much so that I decided to write my own! I was dropped by them as a patient, (through no fault of theirs, the location was far from me and I missed too many appointments, trust me they give you plenty of chances!)But I want to take a moment to say, this is the most tightly run, caring, and to-the-point staff you will find in the local mental health field. Many people writing here seem to not want to take responsibility for their actions, perhaps some cant. But dont let some of the skewed logic in the reviews change your mind about coming here. Be nice to them and come in with a plan for your treatment and they will help you tremendously.

EDIT: Andrea called me after reading this review, and told me that if I deleted the review, she would continue to treat me. She said if I left it up, I would be discharged from her practice. I said send me the discharge papers. I never want to see any of these people again.I have been a patient here for about a year. I am writing a review based on a disturbing visit I had yesterday. I am a teacher and I work 40 minutes away from the office. I had only one day that I was able to come in for an appointment due to my extremely demanding work schedule. I have bipolar disorder, and I ran out of my medication the exact same day as my appointment. My appointment was at 3:45, which was confirmed by phone to me the day before. I got to my appointment at 3:45 and was told by the staff that my appointment was at 3:15 and that I had missed it. I explained that the appointment had been confirmed to me over the phone and that it was at 3:45. I was rudely told Well, you missed it. I asked if I could see Andrea for one minute because all I needed was for her to write me a new prescription. They refused to let me see her or talk to her. I made a follow up appointment for about a month later, because again, due to my demanding work schedule I CANNOT take time off. (Any teacher, especially one new to a school, will understand this.) I went to the pharmacy because I had also gotten a call from them that my prescription was ready, which surprised me because I knew I needed a new one to refill. I got there and they told me I could only have a 3 day supply. I take Lamictal, and I have been told by every health care professional I have come in contact with to never stop taking it. I could have seizures if I stop taking it. I will have intense mood swings again. I have lost jobs and relationships before I got on this medication and it could happen again if I go off of it. I was devastated and the pharmacist was wonderful and called the doctor without me even asking to request a one month refill to tide me over. The doctor refused, saying I needed a follow up appointment. I had obviously already made a follow up appointment and explained why I could not come in sooner. So due to the horrific management and treatment I received from this office, I could have faced seizures or the return of my debilitating mood swings. I am astounded that I was treated so poorly. By a miracle I was able to get my medication in time from a different source, but if this place was my only option, I would be in ruins right now. I am not exaggerating when I say I could have lost everything. That is how important this medication is to me and I am astounded that this place, which is supposed to help people with mental illnesses, was so rude and cold to me when I was obviously desperate for help.

Never call this place with a mental issue. The PAs are great. The front staff have no place in a mental health setting. They do not care about you or what your going through. They are extremely, unnecessary mean to clients. They decide when you will get your medication instead of the doctor. And if you run out dont bother to get try to get a refill. The front staff, instead of talking to doctor, will tell you that you arent out and deal with it until next visit. Have you ever had to deal with the withdrawal of mental medication? I know they sure havent or they would at least pretend to care. Go anywhere else but here. I only gave it one star cause you cant post without one. I give it a negative 3 stars. YOUVE BEEN WARNED.

Absolutely abysmal. My insurance lapsed and I was in dire need of a medication refill- I was starting to slip very heavily mentally, and could only afford a partial payment to see someone for my refill (they require you make an in person visit every three months, just to get a refill for a medication I will certainly not be off of any time soon due to my mental issues being chronic and since childhood). The office staff had just negotiated a partial payment within ear shot of me before rejecting mine, having the entire rejection conversation in front of a room full of other patients, with no offer to step into the hall to have this financial/insurance conversation more privately. I started to have a severe panic attack and when trying to leave, another patient stopped me and took me back to the office to pay for my appointment for me, insisting to the office worker that She needs to see a doctor. The woman handling the payment had an attitude to boot throughout the entire process. By the time I got to see Andrea (I can just about never get in to see Olivera, who is actually nice and I enjoyed my short visits with) I was in tears I couldnt really express myself clearly. She did not try to calm me down. She did not offer me a tissue. She did not offer me a moment to just sit there and breathe, to calm down. When asking about why I couldnt pay the full $125 or whatever it was, I mentioned how my boyfriend wasnt making much money, and she had the nerve to say And you want to stay with this guy?. She doesnt know anything about my partner or his situation. She then had the nerve to tell me I might not be fit for attending school in regards to this breakdown I was having, which was brought on by not having my medication for over a month and having just had a severe panic attack from what had just happened in the lobby. A single break down is not an indicator that someone should halt their education, and its not something you should be saying as you usher them out of your office (which she did). There was no compassion or feeling of genuine concern from her and I was clearly in no condition to defend myself against the remarks she made. Absolutely terrible handling for a mental health office, and after that visit I never want to go back there again. I left in a worse condition than when I went in.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with any doctor in my entire life. I was crying in my car when I left my first appointment w Dr. Andrea which turned out to be a 5 min appointment. First the staff at the front told me I was late stating I was supposed to be there 30 mins early but I had it right on my transcribed messages that they had said twice to bethere 20 mins early. Then I got in the office and I have never been so judged in my life. We’ve all made mistakes in our past and I have caught a virus from mistakes that I’ve made so instead of asking what brought me there which was sever chronic depression that I’ve had most of my life and that this virus was making things worse( which by the way I am being medically treated for this virus but not the mental part which is why I was there) she blatantly told me “ it was my own fault I caught it and that I had to deal w the consequences of it”. She also judged several other things and made me so upset and uncomfortable in the first few minutes that I began to pick up my things and said “. I didn’t think this was going to go well” and she stood up and said “ Yeah I don’t think so either”. The only reason I was there is bc I had been prescribed the same mood stabilizer for a long time and it wasn’t working anymore and knew I needed an antidepressant added. But we didn’t get that far. She followed me down the hall and as I got to the door to leave I turned and said to her “this is a terrible way to treat people” she just simply said “ sorry u feel that way”. In a sarcastic tone. After reading that this is an ongoing problem w all staff there including the Dr. I won’t send my letter of concern there but to the proper medical oversite. This was one of the worst discriminate situations I have ever had. I truly would not recommend.

This was the most humiliating and unprofessional experiance Ive ever had with a doctor or APRN aka Nurse ANDREA. She judged me before I even sat down and without asking me or caring why Im there. She raised her voice many times, very hostile, rude, entitled, worse bedside manner ever etc and she is someone who should not be in the medical field exspecially psychiatry. I have chronic pain issues for over 20 years, 16+ surgeries. She judged that, I suffer PTSD, Chronic Anexity and panic attacks, but she never asked why and when I tried to tell her she shut me down. I do take a lot of meds and have for 20 years, but the medication in question Xanex was originally prescribed by a REAL psychiatrist who unfortunately does not take my insurance anymore. And the kicker is I did not ask her for Xanax I was there for possible Xanax in the future or another medication that will help me just the same. But we didnt even get that far because she would not let me talk. She just lectured me and belittled every physician and professional I have ever seen including those who treated me at the University of Florida! That being said ANDREA assumed I was only there for Xanex and guess what, I was not! Didnt even have a chance to ask even if I was! She was just going off of my prescription list But when I tried to explain anything to her she said if I keep interrupting her, which i didnt, I will have to leave. Are you kidding me? You could have talked to me and recommend differant medications or even asked why I am on it in the first place. When I asked her why she didnt ask me why Im on them or what my issues were, she stated shes not a therapist. Why did you choose this field ANDREA? Because youre harming people who are already mentally sensitive. You should not have a license to practice! And you should be ashamed of yourself. People, trust me when I say do not go and see her because if you are a depressed person shes is liable to push you over the edge if she treats you the way she treated me! Thank God im not depressed but at this moment my heart rate is at 168 because of her. Again you should be ashamed of yourself and you should find another field away from people. You need to realize the position youre in and the trust people put in you and when you treat them the way that you do you cause permanent mental scarring!

People who suffer from a mental illness usually visit a psychiatrist assuming that they are in a judgement free zone, but instead of feeling judgment free, the PAs at this facility make judgmental comments about their patients self appearance. There are plenty of other psychiatrists in this area who are understanding and compassionate, dont waste your money on this judgmental staff .

After finally meeting Dr. Olivera, who has terrible bedside manner, dedicates a total of 1 minute to you and doesnt remember anything, has lost my respect. Take better care of your patients.

If you are in need of help, Dr. Olivera and his staff are absolutely, hands down, the best in the area. They suncerely listen to your issues and let you be a part of your treatment plan.they have great knowledge and compassion and I believe if all physicians were this completely concerned about their patients welfare that no one would ever have to suffer a sleepless night or a traumatic experience alone!! Thank you Riverview Mental Health for making things right again!!!!

You sit on hold forever waiting to make an appointment. Office needs more staff. Takes along time to get checked in or to pay and check out. Dr. Olivera hire more staff to manage your office.
