Horrible experience. We were given a car with heavy cigarette smoke smell. When I requested a different vehicle I was told they have nothing! Eventually they found something for me, but have been nothing but rude and nasty about it. Budget supposedly has a 100% smoke free fleet, yet they try and make me feel bad for wanting another vehicle. You can’t get in touch with customer service and have to wait on hold for at the least 15 min for Roadside Assistance!! Enterprise may cost more, but they have never treated us this badly! Stay away from Budget!!Edited to add the vehicle I got in exchange has a broken seatbelt! I was on hold for 30 mins and Budget hung up on me. Is this a joke?

Rented a car here that reeked of smoke. We didnt realize this fact until we were at our destination. They must have sprayed something to cover the smell temporarily. Car was awful. Some Japanese junk. We could not turn on the radio and fresh air AC needed a PhD to turn on. Ill never rent from here again.

Rented for 6 days, returned car after 3 days due to a family emergency. Was told i was still going to be charged for 6 days because of the contract. If i returned the car sooner, why cant they reimburse me the extra days i paid? Live and learn

Scheduled a rental truck a few days prior to getting it, upon arrival they didnt have the proper size and I was forced into a much larger moving truck, the truck had no power anything and the mirrors were essentially fixed, no cruise control or automatic locks or windows, it was also essentially filthy in the box where my belongs were to go. Definitely the worste vehicle rental experience ever, would not ever rent budget again, not being able to adjust the mirrors or lock the doors made it not worth the budget.

Barely any cars to choose from. Staff is rude and I rented and paid for a rental online with my Visa debit bank card.They would not give me a car because I do not have a credit card and it took almost 2 wks to get my money back. Enterprise car rental better selction of cars and if no credit card they take a $200 deposit with your bank card and you have your deposit back within a wk of returning the car

Unfortunately my experience wasnt great. The guy that was as the front desk was clearly in a bad mood and talked as little as possible except for when I brought up something about the weather. There was minimal interaction and he set the keys on the counter and said its in the middle of the lot, I said thanks, and there was no response. I go out to check my car and it has a huge stain in the passenger seat that is pretty gross looking. Unfortunately it was the only car they had on the lot that wasnt an SUV or truck. I understand it is supposed to be a pretty good price but I kind of expected to get a car that didnt have a stain like this. 🤷‍♀️

The car was nice, clean and in excellent condition. The staff was basically courteous and friendly. The only issue was the distance from the rental counter to the vehicle which was a long way considering I was carrying my bags. Other that that the experience was very good

The interior of the rental was glaringly dirty. Stained carpet, burns on the car seats and a sticky steering wheel left a very poor impression. The service was efficient and cordial but the shape of the car left much to be desired.

To say I am disgusted by Budget Rental car, specifically the Stuart location, is an understatement. I had successfully made a one-way reservation for a full-size SUV (Chevy Tahoe or similar) over a month in advance for Thanksgiving weekend. I needed a large SUV, as I was moving a lot of my stuff back to Nashville where I recently moved. My reservation was confirmed on Wednesday, scheduled to pick up on Saturday. On Friday (the day before), I got a call from a very unapologetic employee saying that they didnt have an SUV available for me. I never wouldve thought that they would cancel my reservation the day before I needed the vehicle on a holiday weekend. I ended up having to spend half of the day after Thanksgiving searching for a new rental company instead of visiting with family and paying over $850 for a last-minute reservation at Thrifty ($600 more than I had contracted with Budget). Budget personnel lacked any sort of empathy or desire to help correct this. After a month of fighting with Budget, they have agreed to refund just a pathetic fraction of the ridiculous premium I had to pay due to the horrible situation they put me in by breaching their contract with me. I plan to tell everybody I know about how horrendous of a company Budget rental car is, at least until they decide to refund me for the full amount of the overage they forced me to pay.

I was in traffic in an Uber in route to pick up my rental car. It was possible that I was going to be a few mins late because of the traffic so I called in and asked if it would be ok if I am a min or two late, the employee on the phone told me that they would wait on me. I got to the store and the doors were locked and no one inside to help. I then have to pay another $34 to get back home in my Uber and was still without my car. They are very unprofessional here at this location terrible customer service is just the beginning of problems budget rentals have. Save yourself time and money and do not rent anything from these scum bags. Deserves zero stars

Unprofessional and rude. The car was given to me dirty dusty and windows dirty. The time for oil change light was on whole time and washer fluid was empty. Returned vehicle an hour earlier then stated in rental agreement When returning was charged an extra day for not returning on time. Very ride and unprofessional no dealing with the people skills.

I ordered everything online. easy. got to the airport everything was ready and i received my truck. had it for a week, went to parris island to see my son graduate from the marines with no problem. came back dropped off the vehicle and got a receipt and left. i really think people should just get over themselves. why do you think you deserve anything. get your stuff and go. the staff greeted me and gave me my vehicle. what else do you want? most people are petty anyway.

I was immediately helped by the counter person. I accidentally put the wrong date for pick up but he was very nice about that and I was given an excellent choice in vehicles since they didnt have the Tuscon. He gave me a great suggestion and I was able to extend my rental by one day at no charge. Highly recommend them!

My sisters rented a car for me here and they wouldnt let me pick it up -- even though it was in my name. She had pre-paid it on her credit card to be nice and I’m guessing that’s the issue.I asked if we could just put it under my credit card and they said if we called and lied to the Budget corporate office it would be fine. Why wouldnt you simply allow someone to change the credit card without lying to the Budget corporate office.Any business that suggests lying to get around a policy should be avoided.

My brother flew from Rhode Island into WPB to visit our elderly mother in Stuart. He had reserved a mid sized car. When he arrived in West Palm, he was told there were no cars available and they could rent him a truck. He explained that my 95 year old mother couldnt get in and out of a truck, but they had no cars. They assured him that the Stuart budget location would trade it out for a car. (They didnt call, because it was after the Stuart location had closed.) He called on Sunday and they said they had no cars and to call back Monday. When he called today, they said they had no cars available. This was a blatant lie, because I called and asked if I could rent a car today, and was told they have 2 midsize available. My brother called back, and was again told there were no cars. When he confronted this as a lie, Belvia told him she wouldnt make the exchange because she couldnt make any money off that deal even though it was Budgets error. Talk about how to lose a customer for life!

Predatory, discriminatory and dishonest company - On December the 11th, 2015, a Blue KYA was rented at Budget Rent a Car at Garrett Hidalgo, 1801 South Federal Hwy, Stuart, FL 34994, by a third party. Due to mishandling of consumer communication and credit card information, it was seized by Port St. Lucie Police on January the 8th, 2016. On the trunk of the car there were goods belonging to me valued on around $5,000.00. The car was transferred to Budget West Palm Beach. I filed a request to have my belongings returned, which was bureaucratically replied and no further written communication was exchanged with me. I was informed by Detective Richard Serra, from Stuart Police, that it was my right to retrieve my belongings from Budget. Since no written communication was possible, my family and I proceeded as the company instructed us: we called the West Palm Beach Budget number to speak to the manager. I am a Latino (Brazilian) woman living in the USA as a permanent resident under the exceptional ability and higher degree provision (EB-1A visa) but at the time, in January 2016, I had just been a victim of grand theft credit card fraud here, in the USA, due to which I lost all my assets in Brazil. With no American legal document, as a Latino woman, I was treated with total disrespect by Budget Rent a Car, whose manager refused to pick up my calls. At some point I called as someone else and he picked up the phone, a strong evidence that he was avoiding me. He told me he would return my belongings but wouldn’t pay for the shipping. My sister provided him with her FEDEX account information and I told him it was paid for. I never heard from Budget again. I have strong reason to believe my belongings were taken while the car was in custody of Budget Rent a Car, since it was seized by the police and immediately handed to the Stuart Budget agency. Nobody else touched the car. This kind of impunity added to the ethnic and sexual discrimination send a clear message to the consumer concerning the corporate ethics of Budget Rent a Car. Budget can’t deny this case because we both have documents concerning it. While they can continue their disrespectful treatment and ignore the unauthorized “misplacement” of my belongings, I can continue to denounce their unethical and predatory behavior.

I was very upset to say the least.Long story short I needed a car and when I had called I was given a quote. After, I kept calling around to places to make sure I got the best deal. I ended up driving to the airport budgetrent a car (because most other rental places were closed not because they had the lowest price) only to have the counter lady give me another quote which was 130$ more than what the guy said on the phone only a half hour earlier. And I know I heard the guy on the phone correctly because I repeated his quote and he confirmed that I had heard him correctly.So in the end you will waste your time and gas.

Had reservation. Got to Budget office in St. Louise FL. They didnt have the compact car I made the reservation for. All he had was a Dodge Charger and he told me it would cost me 10 more dollars a day for 11 days. 110 more dollars plus tax. I told him its not my fault he did not have the car I ordered and he should give me the car for the same price. He was very rude and told me that was not going to happen. I walked out.

Worst customer service ever. Man at the front desk was extremely rude.I prepaid 68 dollars for 2 days they never infomed me they closed early on sundays,fine I guess thats my fault so I was charged another day. When I looked at my credit card bill I was charged an additional150 dollars. So for 2 days I was charger 218.dollars for a Rav4.That was not in my budget. So I do not recommend the stuart location

Manager was rude, had a nasty attitude towards a very nice lady customer 2 ahead of me and totally blew off the couple before me. Offered zero help and told them he didnt have time to locate a vehicle with seating they required. So they told him they would go to another rental agency thar cated about customer service. I had ordered my rental online. But everything seemed to ba an inconvenience and it eased only 930 am. Returned the following day and he eased just as ornery. So it wasnt a bad day, thats his faily baditude. I didnt let it bother me. On both visits to this location i witnessed him distespect and treat people horribly. He is a big guy so he acts like bully. Based on what i observed he should be cleaning cars not interfacing with customers. I would recommend ordering your car online that seemed to be the best way to avoid his nastiness. Good luck, you will need it....

To say that our experience with Budget was unsatisfactory is an understatement. Let me explain what occurred. I booked this rental for my father, as he is 77 yrs old and not very computer savvy and I take care of these sort of things for him. The rental was from Thursday, 9/7 through Tuesday, 9/12 (which happened to be my fathers 77th birthday). On Thursday I personally called Budget at PBIA and spoke with Hector. I asked him if my father could leave his truck at Budget while he had the rental car and Hector told me yes. I specifically asked this because we live in Stuart, Florida and it is an hours trip to WPB. When my father arrived to pick up the car he was told that if he left his truck it would be towed. So he had to call us and wait an hour for us to get there to pick up his truck. What should have been 1 hour, 1 person turned into 3 hrs and 3 people. We were totally inconvenienced and lied to by your Budget employee. Now, concernig the return. The car was scheduled to be returned on Tuesday, 9/12 before 5pm. With the Hurricane on Sunday and not being allowed on the roadways on Monday and everything being closed as well we decided to call first to ensure Budget was open Tuesday to return the car. I personally called MULTIPLE times and was never able to speak to anyone. It just sent me through a barrage of steps, put me on hold and then hung up on me. So, needless to say, we presumed Budget was still closed since we could not get them on the line. When we returned the car on Wednesday we were told by the Budget employee that we were being charged not only an extra day but a late fee as well. We told him that we tried to call on Tuesday but noone answered so we figured they were still closed. HE TOLD US THAT THEY WERE NOT OPEN BUT THAT WE COULD HAVE USED THE DROPBOX. If you were actually open, why would your employee say this to us? Another lie perhaps? At this point I am disgusted with Budget and I plan to reiterate this in a Google review, on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, BBB and anyone else who will listen. My father is 77 years old and Budget completely took advantage of him and on his actual birthday no less. Really nice treatment, especially after dealing with the Hurricane and everything else. Customer service is practically nonexistent at Budget. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Very rude reps who act like you are a pain in their side when you walk up to the counter. Calling the 800 Budget customer service line is another joke. They cannot help you so you have to contact this brach at the airport. It takes a half hour to get a hold of a rep and then they are rude as hell on the phone. Want to take the current car you have out of state is a charge of $450, but if you come back and pick up another, it is $160. That makes a lot of sense. Do not rent from these folks. Go down to the next counter at Enterprise and get treated with great customer service and a far less price than Budget!

I was very disgruntled with this locations customer service. This particular location does not follow typical corporate set Budget policies and fails to explain the fine print. As someone who frequently travels and uses budget rent-a-car often, I found it very frustrating to contend with the changes. I was unhappy with the disturbance this caused to my travel plans. I would suggest using a different rent a car company while traveling to this location.

Yesterday i stopped in to get a suv which they tried to put me in a car.The boy worker was busy running his mouth with the other worker.I told him my plans and how we are going to work with budget rent a car.And we had spoken to someone in corp.As we were in the parking lot warming the car.The car agent came running over to the rental yelling hey i just spoke to corp they arent doing any commercials ....I said who the heck are you talking about he said i spoke to ryan cronick ???? I said WHO????THEN THIS TWO POUND IDIOT REACHED OVER AND SNATCHED THE KEYS OUT OF THE TRUCK.ALL CAUGHT ON VIDEO.THE TEMP WAS 1 DEGREE OUTSIDE AND YOU COLD HEARTEDLY TURNED OFF A WARMING CAR WITH A 1 YEAR OLD BABY INSIDE AND A 7 YEAR OLD.Then the parking lot attendant was saying something as well.So at that point i had enough and i knocked on the door and lol the one young worker knew me and my children and their history in the entertainment dept.If ryan cronick cronich whatever.TOLD YOU TO CHASE AFTER US THEN HE WILL ALSO BE SUED.BUDGET RENT A CAR IN MTOWN PA IS OWNED PRIV.AND UNTIL NOW THE CORP CEOS DONT EVEN KNOW THESE PEOPLE EXIST.WHAT A JOKE.HQ WAS VERY UPSET BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH PRIVATLY OWNED ITS THEIR LOGO ...DONT GET YOUR CAR THERE BUY FROM HERTZ.OR SOMEONE ELSE.
