I am getting charged for basic internet which is provided free from my apartment complex. I was told and have paid for over a year just for the upgrade. Now I have to pay the base level, the upgrade, and rentals for a modem and router that I have told them I have my own and do not need. Wish my complex could let me use another provider for internet because these folks just charge you for things that you dont even use. Seriously ridiculous. -100/10 calling a lawyer.
Have them for my home internet, had a small speed issue and they came out, checked out everything and took care of it. Works great for me.
Had one of the most unprofessional experiences with this company. After making multiple complaints about outages, with no responses, I canceled my subscription with GetWirless and was charged $150. Even after speaking with their representative Laura and trying to explain the issue, we were met with attitude and unprofessional composure.I can’t recommend avoiding using this companies services strongly enough. If you need any more evidence, look at their responses to past reviews.
I am nearly at a loss for words. A few that come to mind: unprofessional, reprehensible, and despicable behavior from GetWireless. Never use their service. If the rest of these reviews (and the immature company responses) say anything, it is DO NOT SIGN UP. I would be embarrassed to work there. They take advantage of their customer base, which is mainly college students with little knowledge and few resources. Based on their level of professionalism and customer care, I can only assume they are a year away from bankruptcy.I regret entering business with them; I will be recommending any other service over this one. You would have better wireless connection with a pizza box and 3 feet of electrical wire.
Was having issues with speed and the Get Wireless support team went above and beyond trying to help me solve the issue. Internet is now working great, would recommend to Penn State students!
I would give this place a -100 if i could, horrible wifi, terrible service, and extremely unprofessional. NEVER SIGN UP. and they trash the clients in the comments.
I dont typically write reviews, but when looking for the address to return our equipment as we are moving, I saw some reviews where people were complaining about issues. I can say that I had service for two years while attending school and never had any issues other than we initially bought a cheap junky router. They helped us quickly identify the issue, we got a good router and never had another issue. I wish I could get their service outside of State College.
--Unreliable mesh network - works for 20 minutes, then I get booted off and it disappears from the list of networks--Customer service can be fast - I had a problem with the info I had on file and it was resolved within an hour. Guy who came to set up my service was really nice and was in and out in like 15 minutes.--Internet goes out 1 or 2 times a week, but its usually back on after I leave my apartment and am out for a while (a few hours) but it has gone out for up to a day. Sometimes I can bring service back on by unplugging the modem and plugging it back in, but it takes about 30 minutes to come back and sometimes it doesnt work.--Overall, the speed is good and works fine even when I have an ungodly number of tabs open (I have the basic/cheapest service plan and live alone in a one-room apartment)
My wife and I have had service with this company for a few years now and the service was fair when it was installed. We have since canceled it! Over the years however it has continually gotten worse. I have had the technicians out three times to move the antenna and several other times with equipment problems. Getting service for the issues was a lot of trouble. The customer service representative’s are very rude and incompetent. Getting the technicians to come and repair the issues takes a long time. The only ones that I would commend on doing a good job are the service technicians. If you were thinking about using Get Wireless don’t!!! You are better off licking a wall after you stuck an antenna out of it than trying to get Internet from this provider. This company should be considered a scan. Paying for the lowest level of Internet from any other company, even if they dont provide Internet (walmart, egg stores, shoe stores etc...) would give you a better chance of being satisfied with what you payed for.
The internet service goes through periods of reliability and periods of unreliability. Customer service has been pleasant and helpful when we have contacted them, but it can be frustrating when you are up against a deadline for school or work and you have to leave your apartment to find internet. I ended up getting a better Verizon plan so that I could get on a mobile hot spot when the internet fails.
Literally the worst internet service my husband and I have had the misfortune to be forced to use in our entire lives. The business is an utter joke. Even their name is fraudulent, misleading and shamefully takes advantage of customers: Get Wireless as in Get Wireless Somewhere Else because we literally dont do that. The owner told me on the phone they do not provide wireless internet. Hell they cant even provide cabled internet reliably. False advertising much? Hundreds of feet of cable, what, to my ipad upstairs? My phone? My husband and I are completely dependent on reliable internet for work and school. This product is garbage. Despite a high quality router, we’ve been riddled with constant long term outages and are tired of turning off all devices, unplugging, waiting for an indeterminate amount of time for it possibly work again. I am physically disabled and am bedridden upstairs- this company perhaps have never heard of the Americans With Disabilities Act. I cant get a hold of an actual human to talk to about outages- (but perhaps they’ll return my call after they see this honest review?) Customer service is unavailable, while the phone system tells me I am first in line then puts me on hold and winds me around in circles encouraging me to leave my number for a half hour until I give up. Service tickets are useless as problems will not be eliminated. My neighbors feel similarly. Apparently it costs $75 just to have them come out and troubleshoot their own dysfunctional system, which I can’t afford on a fixed income. I cant believe I am saying this, but youre better off with Comcast or another company. They may try, but couldn’t possibly defend their track record- as indicated by their long history of 1 star reviews.
Horrible, horrible company. Do not use their service unless you want to wait 5 minutes for any single page to load. We tried calling multiple times to have them fix what we thought was a specific problem, but they repeatedly blamed it on high traffic in the apartment building. Why provide Internet to an apartment building if you cant actually provide customers with Internet?¿ We even purchased an extension and still couldnt get a connection. You literally had to be sitting next to the router in order to get anything. 0/10 would not recommend.
This company and its service is so bad that an employee (Matt English) decided to create multiple accounts just to bring up the google review star rating.... there really isnt anything else you need to know. go somewhere else.
I literally cannot even rate them a 1. They are all uneducated with technology and their ideas for solving problems are absolutely unreal. Wifi has gone out so many times and weve called so many times and no one is able to help. Do not ever get wifi from here. It costs over $100 to cancel your plan when it is THEIR fault for awful wifi.
All around terrible. First off, when I started the service it took me a week of emailing and calling both Getwireless and the router company to actually get the internet to work. Second, throughout the whole year of our service the internet would randomly shut off almost daily and would require a complete reset. Last but definitely not least, when I returned the rented modem I got a $150 charge to my account saying the modem was broken even though I used it fine hours before handing it in... Getwireless is a scam. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.
WiFi never works. Comes in and out constantly. Using a friends WiFi because this is never reliable and never works. Don’t spend your money here. Go somewhere else.
Substandard. Would give 0 stars if I could. Terrible internet service: Speed unreliable. Outages almost every day. Peak times speed less than 1 Mbps. This ISP was offered at my apartment complex and I regret letting it influence my idea to live there. Dont take the bait. I have had more outages in 2 months than all others in my life combined. If you are a student and need reliable internet, this service will not only let you down, but go out at the worst possible time leaving you helpless and unable to finish assignments and go out when taking online quizzes. Do you really want to entrust your academic career to this rinky dink ISP? I often have to use my cellphone to tether to my computer when it goes out, and its faster and more reliable. Please save yourself from the hassle and do not purchase or live anywhere where this substandard internet is provided.
One of the few internet options I have at my house is GetWireless, and after agreeing to their barely-more-than-DSL speed packaging, we scheduled a 2 hour block for installation. With 5 minutes left in that 2 hour window, I was walking out the door, kids in tow, and met the installer on the steps. I told him that he had 5 minutes to complete the job, unless he didnt need me to be home at the time, otherwise wed have to reschedule. Now, whenever I call to reschedule, I hear typing and am told that service is not available at my address, even though the entire development around the corner has Getwireless receivers on their houses.
Had this ISP for 2 years. While paying for 50Mbps we were quite often getting 10. The service/speed has definitely gotten better in the past few months, but it still randomly slows down at night and during peak hours. The internet randomly goes out and the support can be pretty useless. The first issue we had a couple months after getting the service took forever to get fixed. When you call them they have basic tech support that does useless troubleshooting like turn your modem off and on but for some reason it takes forever to actually talk to anyone. Their website says the average wait time for a call is 30 seconds which is an absolute lie. Just waited 40 minutes to talk to someone who just had me do troubleshooting I had already done myself. The basic tech support will refer you to the advanced tech support if your issue requires anything more than turning your modem off and on. The first time I had to contact advanced tech support was pretty bad. You call them and they tell you they will contact you within 3 business hours (8-5). Im not sure if they only have a couple advanced tech support people or what, but its pretty annoying that they cant just set up a time to call you.Anyway Im just ranting at this point. Just dont get this ISP if you have any other choice.Edit: Advanced tech support dude was pretty chill so I bumped the score up a bit. Still not the best service, but at least some of the people there are cool. The most recent issue was pretty much our fault, so I cant blame them for that. However contacting customer support about it was still a nightmare (although we wouldnt have had to contact them if it wasnt for our stupidity). Also @ the reply by getwireless: I have a tweet from you guys Nov 19, 2014 about you calling me, so I dont see how youd only have a log about my most recent call.
I am a software engineer and I have been using getwireless for my rural (fixed-wireless broadband) internet for over a year. Overall, I am pleased with both the stability of the service and the responsiveness of the technicians. George F did a great job on my install. Despite being wireless, it works through heavy storms including hail, sleet, and snow. The service has low-latency, so it has a quick response (good for gaming, VoIP, VPN, etc) that is on par with cable. I test my bandwidth regularly and it is consistent at all times of the day though it is always a little below the advertised speed (which is the only ding on their service in my opinion). Streaming Netflix, HBO Go, etc. works well. Skype and other video and VoIP services work well too.Since it is fixed-point wireless, its bandwidth is not as large as cable providers, but it is very competitive (and perhaps more stable) than DSL. My plan gives me 5Mbit for my download bandwidth. At times my family maxes out its bandwidth usage, but it is manageable. Usually this occurs when we are using multiple bandwidth hogs at once such as streaming video in HD while downloading multiple large files at the same time. With that said, I am willing to pay for more bandwidth when technology improves... but the needed increase is minor.In short, Id recommend getwireless for their fixed-wireless rural residential service. It requires line of sight to their towers and a small dish, but it is stable and better than most DSL and all satellite providers.EDIT: There may be an option without line of sight, but youd have to ask them about it. My install has line of sight.I hope this review helps anyone who has doubts about fixed-wireless since it is hard to get good information from users on it.
These jabronies provide the worst service ever. I would have to reset my modem 5-6 times a day because my internet connection would randomly shut down. We bought a package that was 12mbs downlaod speed but only ever got 2mbs MAX. These people suck.
The worst internet company ever. We lived in beaver hill and bought the highest streaming package. We would be out of internet for days even up to two weeks at a time because they would not fix it anytime we had a problem which was very often. They would tell us a technician would call us back within an hour when we called to have t fixed and they would never call. They would make appointments to come and fix what was wrong and simply not show up without calling, and after that fact when asked why the schedule appointment didnt show up lie and say they called when there was no message from them. Getting them on the phone when the internet was out took at least an hour of being on hold every time only for some idiot worker to tell you they couldnt do anything and the technician wasnt in the office. We went to cancel the membership when we had had it and we just wanted our money back for the service we hadnt used yet because we paid for the year. They told us if we let them come out and check on it they would refund our money, then the next day denied they ever said that and refused to give our money back. I went to the physical office multiple times to try and get our internet fixed and they would never help, no matter what time of day it was the manager was never in. I repeatedly asked to speak to a manager and they would not allow me to because it is against policy. Do not get this internet company. Youll regret it. I truly dont know how they stay in business with the most horrible customer service I have ever seen.
