Arena Gymnastics in Stamford, CT is an AWFUL place. Yes, I put that in capital letters because I mean it. The facility is absolutely DISGUSTING and in an awful place. The staff is rude. My daughter was here for several years it was on the competitive team. The team coaches are unprofessional, rude, and shamed my daughter. They talked behind my daughter’s back about issues that she happened to have. All the other girls would hear what they were taking about, and spread rumors throughout the team. We had confronted the coaches multiple times about the shaming they have done to my daughter, BUT THEY CONTINUED TO MAKE HER FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE. Since then, we have left Arena and found another gym where the coaches and teammates treat my daughter better. I wish I could give this place zero stars if that was an option. If you are looking for a gymnastics place in Fairfield County, Connecticut, DO NOT GO TO ARENA!!!!! THERE ARE BETTER PLACES AROUND!!!!
Wonderful place for gymnastics even at a very young age. My daughter was 20 months and extremely active. The mommy and me program was the best thing ever. Its her favorite part of the week by far and go g strong one year later. Love it!
My daughter attended regular gymnastics programs at Arena for 4 years and had the most positive of experiences. She learned tons of gymnastics skills and gained enormous self-confidence and self-discipline in the process. It would not be an understatement to say that it changed the course of your childhood for the better and developed her into a powerful person on an extremely positive path forward. Because of a previous review about the coaching and staff, I would like to add that her relationships with the coaches and staff were instrumental to her remarkable growth and I remain deeply grateful for their efforts and contributions to her life. She stopped doing gymnastics about 18 months ago and she still remains in contact with the coaches and staff as do I.As for the program itself, it is one based upon deliberate and gradual skill development. Sure there are newer and shinier gyms around but none are full of coaches with the depth of knowledge and experience that Arena has. Their class sizes and athlete-to-coach ratio cannot be beat so I found them to provide a better value than the competition. There is no standing around wasting time waiting to get on an apparatus. Fun and skill development is maximized.Arena has been developing young girls into excellent gymnasts and, more importantly (in my eyes), strong, confident young women for more than 30 years. Their success speaks for itself but I thought I would share my experience.
Arena Gymnastics provides above average instruction in a professional-level gym. The location is fairly convenient with off-street parking. The spectator area is below average and grimy. The instruction itself is fine -- below average for high-end gyms but adequate for those interested in regional competition. The main problem here is the outright derisive and unprofessional staff. I fully understand that nobody in this field is warm and fuzzy and that gymnastics coaches feel a certain pull toward stoic disinterest. Here, however, the instructors and office staff are offensively unpleasant. They are almost professionally unpleasant -- as if each day they try to out be more abusive than the day before. This review is not based on a single bad day or a or handful of bad experiences; it is based on years of borderline abusive treatment. Simply put, the staff is always unpleasant. There are just too many other good gyms to put up with abusive staff.
I am going here and I have learned so much here and the staff is so nice and they even open on some snow days.
Id agree with the other poster... its horrible that out of a 5 day week, you can nvr get any off on the phone... ALL DAY! Ever! You have to go to the office to ask a question. Horribly annoying and if we could find a more professional place within reach, wed definately go.
Went there used one class of some personal dislikes ( to far) wouldn’t go, rest of money was refunded with zero headache. Than you !
Great place for kids to learn gymnastics in the area
Good staff and great place
I went there for 2 years and I loved it, sadly I moved and I quit because I couldn’t find a place that was anything like the Arena or better
