I lived here for two years and loved every second of it! If I didnt need to relocate for work, I would have renewed my lease for a third. The staff (Gimja, Chris and Byron) are so friendly and professional, they genuinely care about the residents and are super responsive. Same goes for maintenance, any ticket I submitted was handled within 48 hours or less. The building is secure, the common areas/amenities in the building are always well maintained and the trash rooms are cleaned out daily. Packages are handled expertly and securely, I never once had anything go missing from the mailroom. Thin walls are definitely not an issue here, despite having neighbors on both sides with dogs I never once heard a peep! To top all of that off, the location is incredible. Youll be in the heart of downtown with amazing restaurants and bars all within walking distance. Please consider this place, you wont regret it!

We are obsessed with this property! The Staff is so attentive (specially Gimja). The amenities are great for entertainment or just a chill Friday night. AND THE LOCATION IS KEY!!! I moved from NYC where I was at a walking distance of pretty much everything I needed and it is pretty much the same thing! My fiancé and I really love Vela!If you have a dog just know your pup will be so happy at Vela. Theres dog treats in the lobby, they have a pet of the week - every week. Youll have access to the doggie spa AND there is a dog park right across the street.

Vela is one of the nicer apartments I have lived at while in Stamford. Ive stayed at 66 Summer, 1201 Washington, 750 Summer and 111 Morgan..The apartments are nicely designed and the amenity areas are spacious, well kept and have nice decor. The staff is very helpful and friendly especially the day time concierge Gimja. I recently had a key/fob issue and she resolved it quickly and has a great attitude. Best Luxury Apartments in StamfordI lived in Vela for about two years and it has been the best experience ever! I did a lot of research on luxury apartment buildings when I was originally looking to move to Stamford and Vela was my top choice bc of location, amenities and staff. It is also extremely pet friendly with a pet area right outside the apartment and a dog park across the street. I originally moved into a lower floor but then moved into a high floor corner apartment with unbelievable views. There are amazing restaurants all in walking distance and you’re right next to Target. The amenities are top-notch. They offer a lot more than other luxury apartment buildings in the area. There’s a gym, conference room, billiards room, private dining area etc. The highlights are definitely the awesome game room that you won’t find anywhere else and an unbelievable rooftop area! And last but not least of the reason to live here is the staff. From the leasing department (Byron, Gimja, Chris) to the concierge( Ezekiel & Roberta), they have made our stay at Vela truly amazing. We didn’t have family or friends up here in CT but we were able to count on them for so many situations that have come up along the way. They are kind, genuine people who always go above and beyond. You are always greeted with a smile and they are ready to assist you in any way they can. I can’t say enough nice things about these people who helped make Vela our home for the last few years. Unfortunately, we are relocating but we will truly miss Vela and everyone there. If we do return to Stamford, we will surely return to Vela on the Park.

The Vela on the Park is the BEST & Affordable Apartment in Stamford hands down. I’ve seen at least 4 different floor plans in this building and they are all new, contemporary & spacious. Mine is only 740ish SQFT but it feels so much bigger because the strategic layout plus the floor to ceiling windows in the living room AND bedroom greatly enlarge the space. The amenities are incredible but the fee is nominal, I was blown away; best rooftop (looks at Miller River park) & gym space I’ve seen in the downtown area by FAR.This is the BEST location you can ask for – convenient garage parking right behind the building, Harbor Point Trolley picks up right in front of the building every 30mins, SUPER Pet friendly, across from Mill River Park (tons of events there & a great dog park), very short walk to Target & the mall, at least 20 restaurants only STEPS from your backdoor and another 20+ less than a 10min walk away.Last but absolutely not least, the people that work here are beyond incredible. Gimja is the new resident coordinator, also does tours for prospective renters AND often works the front desk. She was my first friend when I moved here, not knowing anyone else, and I don’t think I ever see her without a smile on. She goes out of her way to help the residents and so do all of her colleagues - they communicate with us constantly to ensure we are happy, comfortable and truly enjoying our time living here. From the leasing team to the front desk staff and from the maintenance team to the cleaning crew, they ALL make the Vela feel like home and I have never experienced a place like this.

I lived at Vela for a year and thoroughly enjoyed my stay - from move in to move out. I moved from out of state and was nervous about the move, as my circumstances resulted in me having to sign a lease in Stamford without visiting/doing a tour of the place. However, Katie in leasing was so helpful and patient throughout the process - she even took videos from her phone and did a “virtual tour” for me of the units I was considering. All of the staff are so professional and they know you by name. Any issue you may have, whether it be maintenance or anything else, is addressed promptly and thoroughly. I see some of the 1-star reviews complain about the fire alarms going off - yes, while that did happen quite frequently during a period, the problem stopped by the time I moved out at the end of December. Overall, the units and amenities are great, but the staff really make living at Vela feel like home.

I was visiting my sister who lives at Vela for a few weeks, and I have to say yes there were issues with the building (i/e elevator & alarm) however the problems were acknowledged and fixed within a understandable amount of time. My sister lives on the 12th floor so of course it was not enjoyable going up and down stairs to get to her apartment when needed but at the end of the day, I am able to walk and hey – who cant use a little more exercise! With the alarm this apparently was caused by someone burnt their dinner, I’m just happy that wasn’t me (how embarrassing)We met with the building manager who was readily available and explained exactly what was going on. I am currently looking for a new job in the Stamford area and I think the way this building handled the ciaos that happened was actually extremely professional and have already expressed interest in leasing once I know my plan!

Beware when looking to rent, they may tell you something during the tour, but that may be a lie. Read over every word of the lease agreement because it most likely will contradict things they promise you during the tour. A week ago I would have given this apartment a 5 star rating. I have lived here for 8 months and prior to us signing we were told that we would only be paying for rent and a 75$ amenities fee. Since this apartment is very expensive, prior to signing we had asked if there were other charges that get tacked onto our bill (with our realtor present) and the leasing office told us NO - so we signed. 8 months go by and our bill was like they said, so I even referred a friend (which they said you’d get 750$ for). This week and without any warning they decide to add service charges onto every resident:- water base charge- cold water- hot water- pest control- sewer- trash- and a one time 25$ fee for conserviceWhen I brought this up to the leasing office they disregarded the fact the they had told us no extra charges would be put into our bill and just sent us our lease saying that they were allow to.Totally misleading the renter and very shady! Also would NOT have referred my friend because now they are in the same situation.Speaking - it’s been two months and we still have NOT received our money for referring them.Bottom line don’t bother getting an apartment here. It’s already too expensive and they’ll probably just tack on more service charges without warning.Side note: If you want to feel like you’re living in The Purge then come here, because there are fire alarm sirens that blast through all the apartments at least once a week.

My Mother decided to make the big leap from Seattle to Stamford to be closer to me (her daughter) and her two young Grandchildren. She settled on Stanford because it offered feels of big city living with a cozy and neighborhood vibe.We did A LOT Of Research, had spreadsheets of location, pricing, amenities. And made arrangements to tour several properties that met many of her checklist items. We felt a bit like Goldilocks...this was ok but missing this or this property had great amenities but older layouts. We even had an unfortunate incident at another property where we were shown a less than cleanly apartment. That about did us in for the Day. We had lunch at Bar Taco and my Mom said hey “let’s see if we can just check out Vela on the Park before we leave. “I had been corresponding with Chris P. Who was very open and honest about everything that Vela had to offer. A young building, incredible amenities and new units. Upon arriving at Vela, Chris took the timeTo talk with my Mother and I about what she was looking for in her new home. The first time in our search that someone really took her in. So we started off with one apartment and he asked what we liked and didn’t like about the unit. And based off of that showed us another unit and so on. So by the time we came upon the 2 bedroom over looking the park. We all knew...THIS WAS THE ONE. Signed the letter of intent that day.But all of this isn’t even the best part...that was the end March and My Mother wasn’t due toMove until mid May. Chris dealt with all of our questions and correspondence during that time with ease and humor. Making us feel at home and like we had a partner in making the transition smooth for my Mother. He really went above and beyond, by allowing our several visits to measure for furniture and show off to family. He helped the furniture delivery people by guiding them to the location of the items. He let me in to set up someNecessities for my Mom prior to her arrival.I can’t say enough about this property, fromLocation, amenities, staff etc. but Chris has been a huge asset to us, personable, knowledgeable and just all around great guy. Can’t wait to enjoy some time with my mom in her new home! Thank you Chris for making it happen!

An occasional issue is understandable, but the alarm problem has been going on for a year now. And, VELA seems to be blaming residents (cooking in their apartments) for the problem. I’m guessing most/all other apartment buildings have residents who cook and occasionally produce smoke without routine false alarm evacuations. I believe it is a design issue, not a resident issue. Management please step up and stop blaming your customers.

UPDATE:Someone else got stuck in the elevator and the firefighters had to come back to get them out. Blame seems to always be on the residents for the elevators getting stuck because people are holding the door to let someone else in before it closes. Couldn’t have happened that time since only one person was in there. Interesting. Now on to the the review. If you asked me 6 months ago, I would’ve said how much I love this place but things have gone downhill dramatically over the last few months. As other tenants have mentioned, fire alarms tend to go off once a week for what seems like no reason. They have gone off at all hours and don’t last very long but I’m sure the local firefighters are tired of coming out here and I know my dog is tired hearing the blaring alarm at random times. In fact a few months ago it had gone off so often in a 2 week period that management tried to make it up to us by providing free catered brunch one weekend day. Certainly a nice gesture but the alarms continue to go off. Annoying. At least one elevator is down every other week and both are down right now as I currently write this review. Not fun to walk up 15 floors with my dog multiple times a day. But hey at least I wasn’t one of the 9 people stuck in the elevator last night for 30 min. Guess it could be worse.Another thing that bothers me is it seems like apartments weren’t thoroughly inspected ahead of time before moving into them. Last month I came back one day from work to find everything in my closet on the floor and the shelving collapsed. I thought maybe I had just put too many clothes on the shelves but when I brought it up to the leasing office I was told that everyone’s shelving had been collapsing because the shelves were hung with plastic screws instead of metal ones and weren’t in studs. What irked me more is they knew of this problem but decided to not be proactive and fix the issue for people so shelving continues to collapse. Beyond this I’ve had leaking in my shower because it was never sealed or a shower door that continually fell off the hinge, and outlets that never had the protective backing removed during construction to avoid things being plugged in (I’ve heard people had upside down outlets in some apartments).Lastly, as another tenant mentioned, a couple of months ago random charges were added to my rent that were never disclosed to me at the time of signing my lease. These were:- water base charge- cold water- hot water- pest control- sewer- trash- one time 25$ fee for conserviceThese charges didn’t occur until 5 months into my living at Vela and were described to me from leasing to be in my lease but management decided to implement these charges starting at this point with no prior warning. I found this disturbing since there was no previous mention of these fees.On the positive, the building is very nice, the amenities are great, the place is very clean, and Vela puts on some great events but I will certainly have something to think about when my lease is up at the end of the year.

SAME DAY EDIT - we had another ALARM this evening. Decided 3 stars was too generous. Incredible! It’s a nice building with great views. The apartments seem well constructed and quiet. However, we are very disappointed with several issues as follows: 1) multiple false fire alarms continuing since the building open a year ago. Not only is this a big inconvenience and annoyance, but more importantly I believe it is a significant safety issue. The VELA has become “the little building that cried wolf”. I think more than half of the residents will stay in their apartments with the next alarm. This is a major liability for building owners and managers. It must be properly addressed. We have been told many times that they have solved the problem and yet the alarms continue 2) elevators not working. The building is already oversized to only have 2 elevators. And the elevators are only ~1 year old but are experiencing frequent failures. Twice in the last week, both elevators were down for extended periods of time. I really feel concern for tenants with special mobility needs for themselves or their pets. 19 floors to scale several times a day with a pet is challenging. 3) Building owners and managers only seem concerned with occupancy rates and are no where to be seen now that the building is nearly full.Given this poor and declining performance, it is a slap in the face to also see rising rent and fees now.Over this year, it has been sad to see this building slide from excellence to mediocrity. I hope management and owners step up and reverse this trend.

I’ve been living in Vela since early May of 2018.Pros:-Friendly concierge staff-Package system-Amenities (especially the rooftop)-Units are well contructed, low electricity bills-I have a 4 year old dog and she loves it here, all of the other dogs are very friendly and I’ve taken advantage of the dog washing station in the lobby several times.Cons:-Parking garage is horrible. My car has been hit three times since I’ve been living here.-The trash room is located right next to the side entrance (which faces the parking garage) and the smell as you’re entering and leaving the building is absolutely repulsive. When I toured in late April, I didn’t notice a smell, but as more residents are moving in and throwing trash down the chute, the smell is definitely getting worse.-The fire alarm goes off once a week at the most inconvenient of times. When I first moved in, I was one of the first residents, and it went off constantly. It’s going a little better, but is still extremely frustrating when you’re trying to sleep and the alarm goes off for a half hour. No word from management if this issue will be addressed.-The gym is extremely small, and the space was not utilized well. The are plenty of cardio machines but not many options for weightlifting. I joined a local gym instead.Bottom line: the building is beautiful and appears well managed, but definitely not worth the rent and frustration.
