We had a wonderful Saturday night dinner at Chesapeake Seafood Restaurant. We had a few drinks in the bar while waiting for our table. The ambience was nice...low lighting, white linens on tables, and the perfect place for date night. We all ordered seafood and everything was delicious! We will definitely go back!
Absolutely delicious and accompanied by superior service.I had the triple play special which included a salad, side, hush puppy and bread with honey butter and the following:*5oz lobster tail*7oz bacon wrapped filet*3 extremely large fried shrimpMy husband had the 12 piece giant shrimp dinner with the same sides and loved it!A true dining experience that I highly recommend!!!
Enjoyed the interior decor. We were seated right on time with our reservation. My 2 year old granddaughter was treated to a very clean high chair. Clean restaurant and restrooms. Great menu variety with fresh food. Not overpriced for anything.
By far the best meal weve had in Springfield. Great meal and great service. Beautiful night to ear outside for my wifes birthday. Thank you.
I went there last night with my boyfriend for a pre-prom dinner. The ambiance is incredible, especially with the architecture of the house itself. I ordered the fried catfish with salad and au gratin potatoes, and my date ordered the fried clams with French onion soup and au gratin potatoes. Our service was quick, and we received reasonable portions, but still enough to be worth my dates money.I am usually disappointed by the quality of the food when I go to restaurants, but the food was honestly perfect. It was served with garnish and was exactly what youd expect from catfish and clam. We even ordered a slice of chocolate cream pie at the end, and we devoured it in a heartbeat. But with that being said, the best part was our service. The waitress who was serving us was possibly the best waitress Ive had in my life. She made polite conversation with us about prom and the football season going on in town, was prompt and checked up on us every few minutes, and even gave us multiple extra glasses of water. She was incredibly helpful with everything, and actually saved my date money at the end when we were paying! We were very impressed!
If youre looking for guaranteed quality seafood in Central Illinois, this is the restaurant to visit. While its not fast food, thats a positive and you get a nice sit down meal. My husband and I have taken the whole family and gone for date night having a good experience each time. Worth a try if looking for East coast food in a land locked state.
I enjoy my little short road trips. This time to Springfield Illinois. I had dinner at Chesapeake Seafood House. I must say I enjoyed the overall quaintness of the place. I try to be honest about places from my perspective. The food was ok and the prices reasonable. Again the quaintness of the building made the difference. One last thing, when the food is just ok what makes the restaurant is the staff. Are waiter was Roger, he gets 5 stars
I had better seafood here than I get at home and I live two hours from the ocean. The prices were very reasonable and the service was excellent. Party of four and we all left happy
Absolutely impeccable service! The food was great, the service was phenomenal! We were visiting for the State Fair from several hours away. I accidentally left my wallet at our table and didn’t realize until we were home. I called the restaurant and spoke to Etta Krotz and she mailed me my wallet! She was so sweet! A total saint!!
Was impressed with the quality of the food at the price. The crab stuffed shrimp was our favorite item, and it could be a meal in itself. Staff was polite, but could have been a bit more attentive, otherwise a great experience.
I wouldnt go back honestly. Sorry excuse for half pound of crab legs Ive ever had for 20 dollars! I was not happy about it. Then my potato was over cooked and rubbery. Shrimp was good though and waitress was nice and building was cool
My husband and I had dinner reservations for our anniversary. This was our first and last time ever visiting the restaurant. When the waitress brought our food, she knocked a dish of melted butter off the tray. Melted butter was in my hair, down my left arm and left leg. It was an accident, I understand this, but we were not offered anything more than an apology. For an $80 dinner for two, this is unacceptable. This was on Saturday. Sunday morning I felt kind of off. I work 3rd shift and that night I had to leave because I was so sick. Im certain its food poisoning from the scallops I had with my dinner. They were the only item I did not share with my husband and he is just fine. Stay away, wouldnt wish this on anyone.
Very good seafood. Classy place. Never had a bad meal here. Highly recommended of you find yourself in Springfield, Illinois.
Fabulous meal there Saturday night. Food was excellent, service was outstanding and the ambiance was wonderful. Highly recommend!
Menu a good selection, food prompt and service appropriate. Been there so many times, we are called by our names. A gem of a spot for seafood dinner, have not been back to Red Lobsters since my introduction to Chesapeake. I would like the return of the crab cakes on the menu, then I can up the rating.
Really cool place. If you If you ever get near Springfield its a must stop. Right on clear lake drive right off of 55. Food was great drinks were great the wait staff really Great. Great atmosphere really cool place to dine
Fantastic meal. Great waiter! Had our own private room for seven of us which was nice.
What a wonderful place. The atmosphere is great. The service is even better. And the food is the best part of it all. Will definitely be going back!
By far the worst seafood I have ever had. Save yourself $100 and go to Long John Silvers. We had the millionaire plate and the seafood platter. Everything was overly salted, and the broiled scallops, shrimp, and fish was over cooked and had a rubbery texture. The oysters Rockefeller was very disappointing when served with American cheese slices on top of them. The only thing that tasted good was the homemade ranch dressing, bread, and peach mule. The service was amazing, and the only thing worth spending money on. We will not be back.
Ive always loved this restaurant and the wait staff is great and so is the food. The owner Dan, hes rude to the staff and customers. Hope he changes his way or he wont have staff for long. Four stars for the hard working staff who wait tables, clear the tables, and kitchen staff. Not an owner who stands up front and barks orders.
My favorite place to go out to eat. Food was excellent and reasonable prices staff was very attentive. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Good food, fast service. Will go back
Delicious broiled salmon with an excellent drink. Homemade bread loaf. Charming environment. Great place to celebrate many years of marriage. Reservations strongly suggested.
Good food, good drinks and good service every time :)
We went on a busy Friday night and the service was top notch. Our waitress was friendly and attentive checking in on us frequently and our food arrived quickly and was delicious.
With a surprise party of 7, we got seated quickly. Food was good. Server was attentive.
Wow! All I can say about this place is try it. I got the triple threat. Filet, lobster, and shrimp for a pretty fair price. My steak was cooked perfectly. Great service!
First time here and we will definitely be back! I had a Bourbon Salmon steak and my wife had a Filet Mignon, both were cooked to perfection and super delicious. I stole a bite of her steak and it was the most tender bite of steak I have ever had. Ive never had them, but next time Im going to try the lobster tail, they looked fantastic, and even though they were super busy our service was still spot on. If you havent already, definitely check this place out.
Love the food and staff! We will be regulars once we move to Springfield. Love the bacon wrapped filet and the crab stuffed mushrooms. Our server Stephanie was great as well.
Great service and delicious food. Best crab legs Ive ever had! And crab legs are my favorite, so Ive had a lot of them. They bring you a loaf of fresh baked bread and its so delicious! We will definitely come back here when we are back in town. Drinks were also very good and key lime pie was delicious. This is one of my favorite places to eat!!!
Amazing as always! Service is great. The food is wonderful. Prices are reasonable. It is everything you could ask for in fine dining.
Great meal Anthony is my waiter upon every visit. This place is always a great choice.
Good food. Pleasant astophmere. Good early bird meals but you have to ask for that menu. Steaks were very good and meal is very filling.
First time visitors. we loved it. amazing service and food.
Wonderful food & atmosphere!! Always enjoy it. Grilled Salmon was great & Shrimp Lovers Platter was outstanding.
The food was so amazing . I loved the triple Play. Definitely going again. Friendly staff too
Tonight we enjoyed a great meal from Chesapeake - even as a TO-GO order during covid restricted dining. Both of the meals were well wrapped and excellently presented. We had a 20 min drive home and the food was still warm enough to eat. Thank you, Chesapeake for giving as a good eat at home choice in Springfield. You are always SO good.
Catfish is excellent. Good food. Cheap.
As a truck driver bred in the state of Florida I can say with confidence that this is one of the finest seafood restaurants i have ever been to
Way overpriced for the tiny portions you get. I ordered the Millionaires Platter it wasnt even the circumference of my hand. Good thing it came with a baked potato, or I wouldve walked away hungry. Scallops were overdone and rubbery. Service was good though, and the homemade pies were great.Lobster tail was nicely done, hence the 2nd and 3rd star.
Best evening meal with family in a long time. Lobster was wonderful. Great place to celebrate birthday too.
Various seafood dishes and specials. Delicious food. Heather was great!

First time there. We really enjoyed the food and the staff is very friendly
The food was delicious. I had catfish. They need too cook it a little longer. But it was good
Great food. Wonderful atmosphere
The food is well prepared and presented. Service is good a well.
A well known gem in Springfield. Family owned and operated. Its in an old mansion and has so much history and charm. The food is amazing. Almost everything made in house. The homemade bread with honey butter is amazing. Try a lobster tail fried. They will accommodate almost anything. The homemade augratin potatoes is another favorite. They run daily specials that are hard to beat. The owner is always there which speaks for itself why they have done so well for so long. They can accommodate large parties or a party of one. They feature a full bar and a large dinner menu. If you are looking for good food and service stop in.
Very nice atmosphere and wait staff. Food was very good. Price was not bad either.
The food was very very good The service was some of the best service Ive ever had in my entire life
There was 12 or 13 people in are group. We had an outstanding waitress I believe her name was Misty and all are food was outstanding Thank you
Well worth stopping. Great Service and food.
Really fun place to go in Springfield. We always make it a stop when were in town.
Delicious food, great staff
Ordered to go meal. Told 15-20 minutes and arrived after 20 minutes.20 minutes after arrival I finally got my to go order.Food wasnt anything real special. Ordered au gratin potatoes and Ive definitely had better. Fish was okay, shrimp were very good as were hush puppies.Probably wont try it again
Good food, good service, good time. You were very accompanied. Thank you.
Great price for the amount of food! Food was very good!
Great, hot food. Excellent service.
We met my cousin for seafood this afternoon. Food and service was great. Will definitely be back.
Food was great, but it only took 35 minutes.🤣🥲
Fantastic food, and excellent service. Highly recommended.
Took my wife for her birthday dinner. Her favorite seafood place. We both love the dishes.I would highly recommend.
Excellent food! Place was packed, so a little slow on service, but that is to be expected. Steak was cooked perfectly!
Food was awsome. The waiter was very friendly and polite.
My fiancé and I ordered crab stuffed shrimp appetizer, catfish entree, lobster shrimp ravioli entree, and key lime pie for dessert for $44. Our entrees came with fresh baked bread (which was delicious) and one big salad for each of us. The crab stuffed shrimp was amazing. The catfish rivalled my parents home fried catfish. It was served bone-in though which was a little hard to eat. My fiancé loved the ravioli and ate all of it. Our service was great. The restaurant is a beautiful historical setting. Overall this was really great and affordable (especially for seafood) and I would absolutely go here again.
I was not overly impressed by the menu options as I was expecting more fish choices. The price of the food is expensive. The food was good, and staff were polite.
Food was solid, service excellent. Price was about $25 per person without apps or booze
Great food and service. If you havent been there you need to go.
Excellent food service. Marlene best waitress in Springfield
Great food, taste and cooked nicely. I took my order to go and it was wrapped well, tender and juicy.
Awesome as usual, triple play rocks !
These folks know what they are doing! Seafood offering rivals any coastal restaurant. Dont miss this locally owned treasure!
We always go to this place when near Springfield! Amazing food and the staff are great!
Due to being high risk, My husband and I had not had dinner out at a restaurant for months. With such gorgeous weather now, we, along with our daughter and son-in-law, decided to chance an outside dinner at Chesapeake last week. The tables under the big tent were spaced well apart, the waitress wore a mask (as did we when we talked with her) and we all felt comfortable with the social distancing. Our waitress did her best but she had her hands full with several tables of customers. The service was a bit slower than it used to be inside but the food was definitely well worth the wait. The bread was warm and the salads, served in deep bowls, were cold. Our steaks were tender and cooked perfectly. The shrimp dinner and fried clams were delicious. Our dinners were served on very hot plates--my cheesy au gratin potatoes in a small hot side dish. Yum! It was obvious that are waitress had to move fast to get it to us so piping hot. There is only one small negative to mention. The traffic on Jefferson is noisy--yet probably no more than loud voices inside some restaurants.Other than that, the overall experience was good and their food was excellent. I recommend Chesapeake highly.
Have eaten here plenty of times, always great. Had the fried shrimp and it was good. Ask for Anthony, he is a server at the top of his game. Njoy !
It was our first visit and I was disappointed in the servers lack of attention. I also couldnt help notice how dusty everything was! The ceiling fan above us looked like it hadnt been dusted in ages.We were here for a special event, but it didnt feel like it.
Good food reasonable prices. Beast steak ive had in awhile
Great food, great service, great employees and great atmosphere. Definitely a good choice!!
