I am so glad I found this place. As a woman I am always nervous going into a place that deals with cars. As I have no knowledge of them. They were upfront with me and didnt try to sell me something I didnt need. I would definitely refer them to everyone I know. Not many honest mechanics out there that care more about the customer than making a few dollars.

I hate to say too much good about Verns because then everyone will want to use them 😒. Best shop in the area, hands down. Knowledgeable staff. Stick to their times. Personable assistance.

Best auto care since my driving began in 1961. Only found Verns though in 2005. Steve is especially great with female customers. Never talking down to us, explains fully. Prices are reasonable. Best Ever!

These guys know their stuff. Probably the mechanics with a storefront in central Illinois. They a little expensive but theyll fix your vehicle and youll be back on the road in no time.

Told me he would call me before he repaired anything with a estimate and never..then charged me $270 to repair one wire and then left a big poke hole in my wire on the alternator 🙁 wont return and dont recommend anyone to go here.

Friendly and helpful, Verns seriously knows cars including custom performance hot-rods like mine. This shop is capable of doing a variety of custom modifications in addition to standard OEM repairs. They will talk to you about exactly what needs to be done and different options for how to accomplish the task. Theyre honest, frank, and extremely knowledgeable. They have been able to find some very rare parts for me and Vern has a deep knowledge of cross-model compatibilities.For both average car owners who dont know much about cars but need honest professional services to get their vehicle road worthy or for hot-rod builders who need help with a tough job that requires more advanced facilities than your home garage, Verns is probably the best place in town.

This is the only place I will go for an auto repair. Steve and the rest of his staff only perform the repairs that are necessary and give great advice on what needs done immediately and what can be delayed for a bit. Great family business with three generations of expertise over the years. Does take a bit to schedule a repair, but that is due to the quality of their work.

I am very blessed to have found this place. I had driven from Bloomington down to Springfield for a track meet. After the meet, I started my van, drove 5 feet, and the van died and would not restart.I found Verns by doing a Google search, saw ratings that they do good work at a reasonable price, and have found this to be true. Steve, a mechanic there, replaced a fuse for the fuel pump, and it fixed the issue (temporarily). He took care to take the van for a thorough test drive, when the fuse went out again (a lot better than this happening to me after I drive 60 miles to pick up the van).He completed thorough testing on it and made sure he was diagnosing it correctly by using various tools, and entering data into a diagnostic database. It turned out I need a main relay switch and an idle air control, to keep the fuses from continuing to burn out.. The labor cost is also quite reasonable. I expected the labor cost to be up to $200, but it is actually only about $135.I would highly recommend this place.

Honest, fair, friendly and competent. Not only do they know what they are doing, they make sure YOU know what they are doing.. This business has a loyal following for a reason. If you have to wait a day or two for an appointment, its because they dont want to promise what they cant deliver. Book the reservation and wait if you can. It will be worth it.

The work was done well. They need to improve in customer service .When they promise to do the work and get you out the door at a certain time frame and dont. Then they have issues to work outbefore their next customer.

I was going to get some repairs done at Verns but ended up not needing their services. However, they were extremely nice and professional while I was dealing with them. They came highly recommend from friends and family.

I found this place after moving to Springfield about two years ago. They are the most honest, reasonably priced, auto place I have ever been too. Steve is the absolute best, explains everything, and is honest, and prices are so reasonable. What more can one ask for...

These guys are the best in town. Honest quotes, stellar mechanics, and the work is warrantied. I called every shop in town for a quote on replacing intake gaskets for a Nissan Maxima and they beat the lowest one by $100! That shows integrity and good business ethics. Now Im going to have them put a new 350 engine in my 85 Chevy K10 Truck. Im glad I listened to a tow truck driver that swore by Verns as being the place to go. He said they will never tell you something needs fixed if it doesnt and they dont price gouge you. I live on the other side of town but I will always bring my vehicles there as long as I live in the area.

They always did a great job on my cars, except when I got a all new brakes, roaters, a calibers, ect, which cost almost 900 dollars, they charged me for the calibers, which they supposedly didnt replace. I found that out when another shop was doing some work and they said they were not new. Unfortunately I was in a bad accident in that car soon after finding that out, so never could take it there to see why I was charged for something that wasnt done. I still recommend their shop, they always did great work before that. And it is always possible that the other mechanic was wrong.

First visit and he was booked for over a week... and got me in that day... felt like family!

Not a big fan of them. Went there once and will never go back again. For one they didnt give me the chance to tell them what was wrong with my car, as in my symptoms, instead I had to write it down on a piece of paper (never have I had to do that before). Two, they tried to cheat me out of my money by telling me my tire rods and other things were bad, I had my car looked at by 3 other places and they all told me there is nothing wrong with my tire rods or the other problems that verns claimed was wrong with my car. Dont go to this place especially if youre a female cuz theyll try to rip you off like they did me.
