Since Skokie has been doing construction on my street for the last 2 months I have no other way to get home besides taking that street in some form. I had 2 nails in my rear tire in June which they patched very quickly and I was out of there in no time. I had to come back this past weekend because as they are wrapping up the construction I got a nail in the other rear tire! It just never fails... Each time they have been very friendly and quick to service my vehicle. Honestly I probably could have patched the tire myself but its been 100 degress and yeah no thanks. For $25 I got a professional to patch my tire properly in a very reasonable amount of time without them forcing sales on me... I know how it goes in the car industry and I was very pleased with them not being pushy to sell me new tires.Will highly recommend.

Will be my new go-to for anything car related!I havent bought anything here... yet. And thats a testament to their honesty. My tires were peeling/cracking and they couldve easily told me I need new tires on the spot. Instead I walked away with some great/valuable information and buys me some time before I make a big purchase.Mike & staff were very informative in a manner to whats best for you as a customer. Will be buying my tires here for sure for my 2 cars in the next few months. If every auto place operated like this location, there would be world peace =)

Finally, at 50 I found Mike and his team! No words to describe how good it feels to have machenics you can trust. They saw me within 10 minutes or so of my appointment. I came in for a new front brake rotor and pads. Astonishingly, the owner came out and said I want to show you something. That sounds expensive I thought to myself. He showed me that the rotor and pads were fine. He suggested that instead they tighten a spring assembly. A little while later I drove away with improved breaks and I with most of what Id expected to pay still in my pocket. An honest car repair shop! This guy, and this place are #keepers#!

Had tires from Tire Rack installed on a classic, went well. Spoke to Mike about fairly simple suspension work for the classic. Made an appointment and brought the car in. Mike called the next evening and said theyre too busy, come pick the car up, and hed let me know when they can take it. Paid for two Uber rides to drop and pick car up.Mike didnt call so I called him a few days later, he said, next week sometime, hed call me, never did. Called him again, he said they were catching up and hed call me, that was over two weeks ago.

I purchased 2 tires two years ago. When my tire light went on I took the car in. They looked at it immediately and found a nail. They fixed the tire, checked and rotated all my tires and said all 4 were still in great shape. There was no charge! Impressed with their work and integrity.

Called a couple of places for a radiator flush on my sons car. Car-X on Dempster was the lowest priced and could get me in immediately. Had Brakes put on there a couple of years ago and was happy with that service. Brought the car in, discussed with Mike the options for the flush, and decided on the machine flush since the car was 8 years old and probably never had that service before. Also talked about a transmission fluid change, Mike looked it up and said it wasnt needed until 60,000 miles. Car was in and out in 45 minutes, happy with the service and the price. Nice job guys.

Mike (the manager) is awesome, couldnt have asked for better service or a more honest person. We came in to get a pre-purchase inspection for a used car we were thinking of buying. Mike walked us through inch by inch and explained exactly why that $3,000 car would actually be a $5,000 investment with all the leaks, cracks, and issues it had. He helped us make a smart choice. Remember that HUGE snow storm in Feb 2021? Well my SUV that came up from Texas had the wrong tires. I got stuck twice in one day.I saw the awesome reviews at Car-X on Dempster compared to some of the other guys. So I slipped and fishtailed over to the shop. Mike met me and got it right on the lift. We decided on some new Chicago-ready All Weather tires. The process was 90 mins. The best part when I came back after getting coffee - Mike had learned that I qualified for a rebate. He filled out the rebate form for me. New tires worked great. And 4 weeks later I got a $50 gift card. Thanks guys! Highly recommended.

Went in to try to get oil changed with my own oil and filter. Manager quoted me $35 when the quick lube price with oil included was 18.99. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere trustworthy!

Is there such a thing as an honest repair shop?YES THERE IS! Mike at Car X on Dempster in Skokie was great! A truly honest guy. I brought my car in for brakes and oil change. I received a call from Mike telling me that my back breaks were fine but the fronts needed replacing. HONEST I would not have known the difference if I was told all breaks needed replacing. I then brought my dads car over for brakes. They were squeaking . Mike walked and said the breaks look fine just a little rust. He said he just suggested to clean up the brakes. With only 30,000 miles the brakes did not need replacing. Pads in good shape. So we had the rust cleaned up the oil changed wipers replaced.... Again Mike was honest. I highly recommend this shop. They do good work and do what you need. They DO NOT try to rip you off.

Great place. Came in while visiting in Skokie due to an odd sound and didnt want to drive over 100mi home w/o having it checked out. The mechanic showed me exactly whats going on as well as other parts Id need replaced not too far down the road. It was a busier afternoon, but they fixed it and I was out in not too long. Other people who came in while I was there were obviously long-time customers who knew the guys.

A screw punctured my left rear tire in a Saturday. Other shops nearby had a long wait time. Mike took care of it quickly, professionally, and for a fair price. Super happy with my experience. Highly recommend! Thank you!

I asked couple of questions on phone to Mr Mike as I wanted to change my BMW Rear Brake Pads, He asked me to bring the car so that he can take a look, I went there and he told me that you are asking too many questions??? as the customer I should ask and if he will not reply then how the customer will get trust that they will get the best service from Car-xHe then gave me appointment of next day to take a look for the estimation to change the rear brake pads of my car, when I went next day - he again started the same way... we are very busy | I dont know how much time you have to wait for... if he game appointment to customer then there must be some estimated time they should let customer know - if they are not then what is the purpose to take the prior appointment?

I went to Car-X Tire & Auto based on the great reviews that I read online and I have to say that Car-X exceeded my expectations. I needed all four of my tires changed and Mr. Lichtman explained the best tires to buy for the the type of car I drive. Car-X Tire & Auto also guaranteed their work, which relieves a lot of my anxiety. The work was done efficiently, in an hours time!

I showed up last minute on a Saturday before closing to have my summer tires put back on my car (I was leaving on a road trip the following morning for Florida). I guess I’m not to only one happy with the service here, clearly they know what they’re doing since all these great reviews are saying quite a lot. But here I am, wanted to mention that the service received here on my Jeep Wrangler was very good and I’m definitely coming back.

I went to Car-X for the first time when my car tire was flat. They hoped to repair the tire, but Mike showed me the damage; it was clear that it needed to be replaced. The price of the new tire was very reasonable. They got the job done quickly. Very professional. I plan to use them again for other services. (October)I went back when I was concerned that damage had been done under my car as some fluid had leaked onto the snow. Mike checked for damage and checked fluid levels. All was well. He even topped off my oil, and he didnt charge me. (February) Ill be back in April for full service!

If you are looking for an honest and professional mechanic, these guys are the absolute BEST. I have used them for a couple of years now and they have been consistently awesome. They are honest and quick with repairs. Yesterday I had to bring in my car to the dealership for a recall repair, and the dealership told me I need a major brake repair ($650) and some other filter work ($250). Knowing that I had brake work done at CarX last year, I brought my car in today to have the guys in Skokie check it out. My brakes are totally fine and they said the filter work could wait until my next oil change. They could have easily charged me hundreds of dollars for a repair that I dont need, but they have integrity which is why I continue to use them. When I have had to use them for major repairs, they always give me a great deal and any discounts that are available.

Brandon, the manager, was extremely professional and polite with us. The employees were friendly and very clean with our car. We received a great price for the oil change and also for repair of the exhaust system. We are so happy we came here (to the Skokie Car-X) and highly recommend them to service your car.

There are a lot of shops that can learn from this place. Mike and the techs are amazing. Mike has always been nice and real with you. What i love is that they dont try to sell you stuff that you dont need and are real with you and actually give you recommendations. This is the one place where they actually care about you and your vehicle. This place is a little out of the way for me since my go to spot is across the street from me, but Ill tell you what.. this might actually be my new go to place. Id definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs honest, reliable work done to their vehicle. Also if you have any questions, they actually take the time and accurately diagnose the issue, rather than throw parts at your vehicle and waste your time and money, like a lot of other shops do. The team at this CarX is always honest, friendly and interested in going the extra mile. We’ve gone to them with all sorts of issues on an SUV and a hybrid and have had nothing but great outcomes.

I had tires fitted at this location. I bought a set of staggered width performance tires from tire rack and used these guys as a recommended installer. The whole experience was very smooth, with tires delivered direct to CarX within 2 days, and this location then calling me to set up an appointment for fitting. The install was quick and reasonably priced, with care taken for my new car. Staggered low profile directional tires, TPMS monitors etc were handled correctly and without any exorbitant excess charges. Really great service.

About a year and a half ago I took my wifes car to a car dealership where they did an oil change and the usual check of the car. At that time the dealer claimed that the car needed new bushings in the front of the car. We never got around to doing the repair because the car was not showing any problems with handling or making any noises. My wife also did not want to do the repair due to the expense: about $800!....Last week she needed to travel about 4 hours round trip with four members of her family. I expressed concern about the trip due to the bushing issue and the fact that the car was going to be full. She had previously dealt with John the manager and liked his honesty. She suggested that she have the bushings checked by Car-X. John and Mike were there that day. One of them took her under her car to show her that she DID NOT need bushings. Now my wife wants to contact the dealership about their wrong diagnosis. She also, as before, wants to return to this Car-X to give them her business. Thank you John and Mike. Honesty is paramount in this field which is often times lacking!

Great service! Tire pressure light came on and I stopped to have the tires checked. They checked all the tires for nails etc. didn’t find any but found the pressures were off a little. Filled the tires to proper amounts. Didn’t charge me anything for their services. Very grateful!

My auto is 14 years old. As such I am hesitant to put a lot of money into car. Was told at Lexus dealer I had a small hole in muffler. Cost estimate: $2,200. Brought car to Midas where I received a more reasonable estimate of $750. All I wanted was to replace area where leak was occurring. Took vehicle to Car-X and was most pleased to be dealing with a straight-shooter in Mike. He was able to replace pipe immediately while I waited 25 minutes. Cost: $165. I expect to be seeing more of Mike in the future.

I have an older car, and the check engine light came on. Mike did a great job explaining exactly what was wrong, showed me what needed to be done. He made sure the repair was done at as little expense as possible, and had the work done as quickly as was expected.

I was delighted with my service at this shop. Mike was wonderful - they were able to fix something very quickly and easily, for no charge, with my tires (I had purchased the tires there previously, they have a great warranty) that my car dealer said was a $1000 fix. I came in under a time crunch with no appointment. They inspected my brakes and then took me out to the vehicle to show me the issue and need for repair. I was in and out with new brakes in 90 minutes. They were incredibly friendly and helpful.

I came in a few months ago to get 4 new tires and have my headlight fixed. When I called, Frank got me in right away to start working on it. The guy working on it figured out an issue with the headlight connection that another place could not. I ended up needing a whole new headlight. Frank saw that it was going to cost me a lot to get the new light and offered to have it installed for free. He also game me a deal on the 4 new tires. Very nice guys here and they really take care of you. Would recommend.

They provide that first-name basis type of service when you come in, appointment or not, and the waiting area is always clean. There’s never that feeling that they’re inventing an issue where there isn’t one. If they do notice something that needs attention they are happy to take you into the bay and physically show you the problem, then go the extra mile with advice about how serious the situation is and what you can do.
