I evacuated Baton Rouge due to Hurricane Ida. When I got to Shreveport, my brakes failed. I brought my van in the next morning, they diagnosed the problem, and they said that it could be fixed the same day! I can now get back to my house (or what’s left of it) tonight! I will be eternally grateful to the kind and wonderful folks at Southern Automotive. God bless you all!

Not great considering the circumstances. I try to take negative reviews of others with a grain of salt, however; if you are reading these consider them when you make your own assessment. They are definitely possible experiences.

I have an 04 ford excursion that needed ball joints. I took in to Southern Automotive to have the work done. No problems at all! It was done on time, (I was wanting it done before we went on a trip, so that was important.) and the price was very fair! Anything else I have need of, I will be taking it to Southern.

My windshield wipers stopped working suddenly, and I needed to get them fixed. So i got online, and this was really the first time that Ive ever tried to use another mechanic. I chose Southern Automotive Services because they had a professional looking website, so I figured they would be professional, and they were for the most part. They got to my truck right away, and started diagnosing the problem, which was an $88.00 charge(not bad). So I get a call telling me that they havent found the problem yet, so they needed to take the steering column off, what they didnt tell me was that in order to do so the mechanic was going to have to work after hours, and because the issue had to do with something electrical it would be $90 an hour. So the net day they call me and tell me what is wrong with the wipers and also gave me a quote, which was astronomical over $900. I told them I didnt want to do that and they put it back together no problem, and told me when it was ready. So I go pick it up, and they tell me the total is over $300 when I only showed up with a few dollars more to pay the diagnostic fee. So after getting that worked out, they ate the extra fees. The diagnostic was accurate, but I took it to my regular mechanic and got the problem fixed and an a/c belt installed for not even a fraction of the quote they gave me. They are very professional and open with you with most stuff. I would only use them if you are in a tight spot and you have a lot of money.

Southern Automotive has done great work on all my familys vehicles at very reasonable prices! Everything from oil changes & tire installation to more serious mechanical work. Not to mention the great detail shop they have, too!

Pricy but quality work

Wish I would have read these reviews first! I was referred here to handle up on a brake issue. Was initially quoted $1,100 and few days later that went up to $1,500 which I again agreed on. Was told they would have it ready the next day and that they would call. I called a few days later and they said they would have it ready the next day and call me. A couple of days went by and they called and said it was somewhat fixed. When I went to pick it up the bill was $400 more than what I was quoted the second time putting it at $1,900.00. After all this money my brakes were never fully repaired. They threw a bunch of parts at me trying to fix the problem and will charge you everything from shop rags to carb cleaner so dont expect any breaks or accurate quotes. -Shane McCormick

Great service, but if you want to get something fixed, DO NOT go here. Didnt rebuild my transmission properly even after paying $5000+ for work. Also forgot to mention while they had my truck in their possession, they also broke one of my side view mirrors.

This company really needs to make policy changes or they will pay in due time! I was told before any work was done to my car that there will be a $88.00 diagnostic fee. Agreed. As I suspected, the starter was dead, so a rebuilt starter was installed. I was then informed that the car was up and running, but the engine light alert activated. The mechanic stated that another diagnostic test can be performed for another $88! NO SIR! The engine light was not on before delivery! Therefore, a free test should have been offered! Could have been a simple vacuum leak.Step#1 Diagnostic TestStep#2 Inform customer of issueStep#3 Replace faulty partStep#4 Shop is liable and owes free test for any activated codes while in their possession.Get it together!

My van was repaired on time and at the estimate that was given. TJ and Mrs. Jimmie are great to work with. I will be going back if I have any other vehicle problems.

Spent over $6000 and ended up with more problems than I started with and then they sent me a bill for another 3000- dont think so! They killed my car and I had to buy a new vehicle . CONSUMERS BEWARE!!! Save yourself the money and stress and go somewhere else..
