I was set up to use General Heating & Air Conditioning through my home warranty. I moved into a new place and unfortunately my air system stopped blowing cool air 2 days after moving in.1st visit, Zach showed up and was only here for 10 minutes. He seemed irritated from the start as he was at my place before I showed up (stayed at a friends that had AC working) but he never called ahead of time to let me know when hed be there. He claimed it was an easy fix with the compressor. However, my place never cooled below 82 degrees.I requested a 2nd visit, and Zach came out again. He spent more time 30-45 minutes working on my unit again. I could not follow exactly what he was doing, as I was working at the same time. After this visit, I noticed cool air out of only 10-20% of my vents for 2 days and then it went completely out again. My place never cooled below 80 degrees.I called again to request another problem and in the middle of speaking with Cheryl, she took ANOTHER CALL and then proceeded to hang up on me without another call back. She initially gave excuses on why they would not come out again.I recommend using another service provider if possible if you want a positive customer service experience and your unit actually fixed.
Didnt show up on time. Did not install my AC properly. Left me in the heat with no answers!
I would NOT recommend this company. We were unfortunately paired up with them through our home warranty and both technicians (including the owner) were incompetent. Zach was rude and replaced the start-up capacitor which was not even the issue and didnt fix the problem. Cheryl, the receptionist was rude to both my wife and I and hung up on my wife. We were without AC for 2 weeks bc of this company with 2 young kids and temps reaching 100 degrees. We finally called another company on our own and the tech came out the next day and fixed the issue within 30 mins and found damage to the fan from Rich (the owner of the company) who had flipped it upside down to try to get it to spin in the correct direction and poor wiring w/ the new capacitor that Zach put in. I would avoid this company at all costs- they do not know what they are doing and they are very unprofessional!
Absolutely horrible experience! Would avoid this company at all costs. We were paired up w/ them through our home warranty when our AC stopped working.1st tech came out on a Mon.(Zach)& was here for 15 mins total. My husb. went to check in shortly after he arrived & he was extremely short & rude & said he replaced the startup capacitor.Zach left w/o checking out with us or ensuring he had actually fixed the issue, which he had not.I called the receptionist Cheryl, to see if Zach left to get a part b/c he had not told us he was done/leaving-she called me back after talking w/ him & told me that he wouldnt be coming back & he fixed the issue, & we needed to wait several hrs for the house to cool down. We watched the thermostat & 3 hrs later after the temp went up in the house (it was in the mid-high 90s here), i called Cheryl & asked to speak w/ the owner b/c i knew it was not fixed. Finally convinced her- & Rich, the owner, was going to come out the next morn. @10am. Next morn. i missed a call from Cheryl (she didnt leave a message) & i called her back 3 mins later. No answer-i left a message, then called again at 9:45a to ensure Rich going to be here @10. Cheryl said she couldnt get ahold of me so she sent Rich on another job & he would be here around lunch time. After multiple more calls to Cheryl, Rich finally showed up @5:30pm. Rich told us the fan was spinning in the wrong direction, which meant the motor was bad, & he was going to have to get approval from Cinch (home warranty comp.)to order the new motor & would likely be several days.On Wed, Cinch informed me the part would be in on Thur- I called Cheryl & asked her to have Rich please call me ASAP to ensure he would be able to come install the new motor on Thur, to which she was very rude & informed me he wouldnt be calling me until Wed. night.Rich called me at 7:30pm on Wed. night & told me the motor wouldnt be in until Fri. (Cinch told me Thur.)& hed be going to pick it up at the local Lennox distributor when it arrived. Fri. rolled around & i tried calling Cheryl at 2pm, left a message & didnt receive a call back. Called again at 4pm-no answer. My Father then called from his phone & left a message inquiring about an issue w/ his AC to see if we could get a call back & Cheryl called him back w/in minutes. He then asked her to call me and she did & of course was very rude. She informed me the part hadnt shown up yet & we would have to shoot for Mon., I inquired about where the part was coming from since Rich told me he was going to have to pick it up from Lennox, & it sounded like they had their wires crossed. Cheryl then said I dont know but youll have to talk to him about that & she hung up on me. We didnt hear anything from them until Mon. afternoon when my husb. called Cheryl & she told him the motor was in & Rich would be out around 4p-5p to install it. Rich showed up at 6pm & my husband went to check in w/ him & he hadnt even put the motor in yet, he had the fan out & upside down & said he was trying to get the fan to spin in the correct direction. He finally tried to replace the motor, which he said was the problem in the 1st place & then told us the new motor was faulty and now the fan wouldnt spin at all. He said he it would probably be about 5 more days (we had already been displaced from our home for 1.5 wks bc the temps were so hot & we have a 1 & 3 yr old). The next morn. Rich called my phone, asked to speak w/ my husband & when i said he was working he said I was calling to let him know we are dropping you as customers and we are going to let Cinch know it isnt working out and we wont be coming back. We had a new company come out the next day & the guy fixed the AC w/in 30 mins. & informed us the wiring w/ the new capacitor Zach put in was messed up & the fan Rich had messed w/ & tried to flip upside down was bent so much that the unit now shakes. Absolutely MIND BLOWING how a small bus. w/ customer service like this & incompetent technicians can stay in business.
Some how I left a 1 star review when I have no business with this company. No idea how this was posted on my profile. Now that I noticed I wanted to right my wrong. I take customer service seriously and after reading other reviews I’m sure they are a great company.
General Heating & AC was called to come to my house 3 different times because, I could smell hints of gas in our laundry room and our thermostat wasnt working properly with my furnace. Zach came the first time and concluded it was the transformer and it wasnt clear if he did anything. The second time Rich came out and said the ignition switch was the problem and replaced it. The problem was still arising and Zach came out the third time. Zach gave me an attitude, as if he was bothered or didnt care about actually fixing the problem. I told him about the hint of gas I could smell and he dismissed me and laughed. He told me you cant smell carbon monoxide... well obviously thats why there are carbon monoxide detectors! He said there was nothing wrong and left without a resolution.I contacted a different company the next day and within 20mins of an inspection, the tech found cracks in the heat exchange and mentioned there was a gas leak. How crazy is that?! Two months later, I receive an invoice that must be paid immediately (we got the invoice in the mail on a Saturday and the invoice says we will be charged a late fee on Monday if not paid - two days later!) from General Heating & Air Conditioning where Zach claims and I quote Customer just wanted to talk about replacing the furnace at companys expense which was a complete lie and unprofessional. With Zachs attitude and the work he claimed to do, it wasnt shocking or surprising he would accuse us of that.
Called out General Heating & Air under my home warranty. Prior to the call I had an inspection done by One Hour heating & Air under my service plan. One hour gave me an invoice stating I had 4 faulty components in my HVAC system. General came out two separate times with two different technicians in about a weeks time. First one told me all AC components were bad due to them being loose / vibrating thus needing to replace the unit vs replacing multiple components. Additionally a bad inducer in the furnace. He didn’t acknowledge the blower motor failure listed on the competitions invoice on the furnace.... Second technician came out for a leak inspection only. Once arrived and did his wanding for leaks he told me he was going to write a report that the AC was in good health. Just a cheap and noisy unit?! No other technical inspection (didn’t see any other tools used; screwdriver ect) was done and he rewrote the outcome of my warranty. Why? Good question! Warranty company seemed good with replacement....General Heating & Air must care more about the warranty company than their customer who pays to have their service, such as home warranty....Inconsistent and incomplete!!!!! Not pleased. Easy $100 in their pocket....
Appraisal and repair done in two days. Hope landlord likes their service.
Excellent service! They came out the same day we called about our AC and this was when the temperature was at 90 degrees. Rich was very helpful and covered all our options with upfront pricing. They had to come back the next day to put in a new part and they are were constant communication with us about what time they would arrive. All and all I highly recommend them.
This is a great company-- both Zak and Rich were wonderful. I had two other companies tell me I needed a new furnace. I was shocked since my furnace is only 7 years old -- neither of those companies would try to work with the furnace company with the warranty that still covered the parts. But luckily I found General Heating and Air Conditioning -- they were able to get the parts covered using my warrantee and I only had to pay for labor. I will definitely use them again. (They actually know how to fix furnaces whereas other companies only want to replace furnaces).
Our AC went out recently and here is our experience. I would give 4.5 stars for service, but 2 stars for pricing. When I called to schedule an appointment, I was quoted $165 (for first hour, then additional cost for every half hour after) which is supposedly $35 more than the reg work hours since we needed our a/c fixed over the weekend. I was fine with that since it was hot out, but then asked if this quote covered just the service or if it also included parts. The lady said it would include parts as long as he had it with him and didnt need to order it. The guy showed up on time and he knew exactly what to fix so it did not take long, but the bill is about what gave me a heart attack. Total COST = $350. The part was $165 and then the labor was $180. I was upset that the labor was even more than what I was quoted over the phone and then on top of it, the part (which was in his truck) was so expensive. Sometimes I feel taken advantage of for service needs like HVAC because the people know that you need the fix/service so they can almost get away with charging whatever they want. Overall, our air was fixed but definitely not without cost. The guy did seem honest and he didnt muddle around knowing the fee was by the hour, then half hour so that is good I guess.
Bad service
My wife and I have recently relocated to Minnesota and on a humid August afternoon had the misfortune of having our air conditioner break down. When we purchased the house we bought a home warranty in the event that we had malfunctions like the air conditioner. When the air conditioner quit functioning on August 21 we immediately called the HOW company and they dispatched an HVAC technician. Unfortunately he was not able to fix the problem and we had numerous phone calls and a couple trips out and the AC unit was still not functioning. On the Friday before Labor Day August 31, my patience wore out with the contractor the HOW company sent and I proceeded to seek another contractor. Fortunately for me, Rich the owner of General Heating and Air was able to come to my house within 20 minutes. He quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it and the unit was functioning that afternoon. The HOW company has reimbursed me for Richs work as his charges were less than the substandard company. I am extremely happy with the entirety of his work from the professionalism he displayed in diagnosing the problem and the expertise he demonstrated in fixing it. He also went above and beyond by communicating with the HOW company so I would receive my reimbursement from them. Rich has gained a customer for life and I would not hesitate to recommend him; how could I not based on the experience that I had.
We used General Heating to look at a property in Norwood, expecting that we would need to do a full replacement of the furnace. He said it was in great shape, and just needed a tune up. I appreciated the honesty. Highly recommend.
Does not disclose trip fees prior coming.leaves parts parts of HVAC unsecured after opening. I ended up calling different HVAC company to fix it.Uses foul language.soooo unprofessional.bad bad bad overall. Better of calling someone else before you waste your time and money.
Rich is a great guy and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend them.
A/C went out on a Saturday. Called and they were out the same day within a couple hours, very prompt. I was told a price to replace blower motor and after it was completed, the price had increased by $110. He stated that it was Saturday and it is based upon time. Most everything was apart when price was given and tech knew it was Saturday when quote was given. If you have been in business for over 40 years, you should know how long it will take within minutes, not more than an hour worth of labor. Also, price on the bill does not include Credit card fees that will be applied after the card is processed. That price should be included in your cost, just like everyone else.
We have used in the past and again they responded in a timely fashion and completed their work professionally.
THIS CONTRACTOR IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HONESTSELLS ONLY TOP OF THE LINE TRANE EQUIPMENT .
Rich is great !!! He saved us on a hot summer day when our a/c broke.
