I have an aftermarket dual battery system installed in my Jeep Rubicon. It was installed at another garage that supposedly did this work n”all the time.” I was having problems with my cranking battery when starting. Battery kept going dead after one start. Mike took over and “Lordy Be” he found the problem. Wrong batteries. Hallelujah! I’m happy, Ruby the Jeep is happy and Mike is happy cause he got my money. The story ends and everybody lived happily ever after in the time of Covid-19.

If your trying to find an honest mechanic, Ill recommend Jay and the guys here. Ive now had front end work done on my 03 Tahoe as well as A/C work. Prices are more than reasonable and I never have to worry about them doing anything shady. The shop is unassuming on the outside, but the quality of work they do inside is top notch. For what its worth Ive been in the back a couple of times and its always clean. As a tradesman myself, I find that when a guy keeps his area clean it usually says something about the sort of effort he puts into his work.

I took my 2014 Ford Escape here in 2019 after the manufacturers warranty expired. I took it in to look at a coolant leak.They repaired the coolant leak directly beneath the reservoir for around $1000. I was informed the repair of this leak required some removal of the parts of the engine which is why this was so expensive even though the parts were cheap.Immediately upon pick up for the car I noticed that the car no longer accelerated well. It had a power loss during acceleration as if one of the cylinders was starving for fuel. No check engine light came on and I didn’t have time to take the car back right away. Within a couple of months after the car developed another coolant system leak beneath the car. I returned to Jon Jay and notified them of the still ongoing power loss present from the first “repair” and asked them to look at that and the new coolant leak together.They notified me that the coolant system issue was not related to the first issue and it was going to be another $600-$1000 to fix this issue and they had not investigated why a power surge was occurring. I took the car back and took the Car to the Ford Dealership where I was notified there was a recall on the coolant system sensor. Ford replaced the coolant sensor and “fixed” the leak. 2 weeks later the car overheated and I learned the transmission was toast.I have since had the transmission rebuilt and coolant system/sensor replaced. I’ve also had the vehicle completely tuned up with new sparks, new distributor, and had 2 service shops search for the reason of the power loss to the vehicle. Still, no check engine light comes on and none of the other centers can pin-point the issue. Yet, the car continues to surge and has a very non-smooth ride. I’m also unsure what effect the surging has had on the other issues with the vehicle.I’m fairly confident that when the mechanics at Jon Jay put my engine components back together something was reassembled incorrectly with the engine causing this power loss. They didn’t look into upon request and wanted to charge me an additional $1000 plus just to explore and repair a coolant issue that I had taken to them to repair the system one time before. (Which was able to be repaired for free at the Ford dealership due to an open recall on the coolant sensor).This car has had a fair amount of work since that repair. However after multiple visits and second opinions from other mechanics in town, no one can determine any functional reason for the power loss that still exists after all of this work. This has 100% impacted the value of my vehicle and prevented me from Being able to sell it. The check engine light does not come/has not come on which would come on if something was wrong with the vehicle which suggests the repair was done and re-installed incorrectly. I just want to know what’s wrong with it and have it run the way it used too.Make sure you give yourself time to drive your car with one of their techs before you sign off on any repairs here.

Mike is the contact person I’ve talked with each time I’ve done business with them. Very honest, knowledgeable, and friendly!!! I live in Florida and was flying out to Scottsdale AZ to purchase a car. I wanted a simple oil change and a set of eyes to look at the car before driving across the country 2100 miles. The staff gave me some recommendations and honest input even though the seller was one of John Jay Automotives clients. We made it back to Florida without one issue. It is very nice knowing that this company spent time with me and the car even though they knew I would probably never be back to their business because I live in Florida. If I ever move to Arizona John Jay Automotive will definitely take care of my vehicles.

John Jay Automotive saved a big road trip! I went to get my oil changed and my car checked out before our road trip only to discover a large pack rat nest in my engine. I was referred to John Jay Automotive, gave them a call and they said if I got the car in to them right away they may be able to get it fixed in one day. This is the only place I will take my cars to. Ive referred family and friends there as well. They are a great shop and dont sell you things that you dont need. They even tell you if its something simple that you can do yourself if youre willing. Shops like this are a rarity and I hope they are around for a long time. Best people I ever met

Brought my car in for an oil change and for them to check everything out. I maintain my daughters car very well but this was my first time at JJA. They called to say that nothing was amiss (how many dealers replace unneeded filters and tack on other repairs to bump up the bill?) and that they would stay on top of maintenance. Plus I learned how dealers cut their oil change costs by using lesser quality oil. Very courteous, very prompt; they have my business!

I visited John Jay Automotive back in August to complete some maintenance work on my Honda. I had originally taken my car to the dealer for its Maintenance Minder checkup, and the dealer discovered some repairs that needed to be taken care of. The dealers quote was (of course) astronomical, so I called around for other quotes. When I contacted John Jay Automotive, the person answering the phone was very helpful and had a quote for me in 15 minutes -- it was half the cost of what the dealer charged. When I took my car in, John Jay explained that before doing work, they would first double-check that the repairs the dealer said I needed were *actually* needed. I appreciated that John Jays priority was to look out for the health of the vehicle and safety of the driver before profits. Its been a few months now since they completed the necessary work and Ive had zero issues. They did a great job and this is now the place Ill go to for any future car needs.

This organization is a customers dream!The initial contact with the scheduling staff greeted me as a long-time friend and with the statement, Of course we can schedule you in!.I was given a choice of dates which were convenient to my schedule.My phone call to them late in the afternoon of the appointed day, was greeted with a complete explanation of their findings and what should be done. I arrived to pick up the vehicle and was once again informed of what the immediate future held for further work and that they would handle any follow-up needs.My phone call the following day informing their staff that I required the new item be coordinated with the vehicles computer. I was given a time frame to just stop in between 2:00PM and 3:00PM which I did. The task required much more time than anticipated. It was completed with another explanation.These two visits were complemented with the phrase, Their will be no charge for either day!It was, indeed, a customers dream!

The most honest mechanic I have ever met. My Honda dealership told me that I need to replace power steering wheel rack and pinion due to theres leak. I have recently moved to AZ and my 1969 Pontiac GTO was in need of an oil change. I received a lot of add flyers in the mail of the auto repair locations in the area and I did check one out one that promised an oil change for under $20 dollars. After speaking to the tech at the desk, I decided that I could not, would not, have them work on my classic car. I did some research on the internet and discovered John Jay Automotive. I read some reviews and decided to take a chance and I was pleasantly surprised. Their staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. I was also lucky enough to have met the owner, Jay, who was very knowledgeable and pleasant. They took care of my classic as if they were taking care of their own vehicle. My mechanic, whos I name I dont recall, conducted a complete inspection of my car and alerted me to a potential problem, including photos, with a muffler. Needless to say he was very thorough. My heart felt thanks to Jay and his entire staff. I will undoubtedly continue to trust John Jay Automotive for all of my cars. I would gladly recommend them to anyone.

Great customer serviceservice. I just needed some filters replaced, and I was quoted a low and fair price and the work was done promptly that afternoon. I dont have much experience with the automotive industry but John Jay can highly recommend to me, and I got a very honest vibe while I was there.

Great place to take your vehicle. I was referred to JJA by my brother Ed who told me that hell only entrust them with his familys auto care. He recommends ONLY this shop when the subject of trusted auto mechanics comes up and I will do the same from now on. They did excellent repair work on our car at a very reasonable price and even lower than the original estimate. I also appreciated that the job was completed immediately...less than 24 hours! After a thorough examination of the car, I never felt pressured to complete other repairs, in fact, just the opposite. Mike (who is a really good guy to deal with), showed me what was going on and advised me on what to prioritize and that theyre there if and when needed. The estimates were really fair as well. Had to go to a dealership to get some work done and they treated me like garbage/didnt fix my car (had a recall and when I got my car home I realized I was still leaking gas) so I decided to go to John Jay Automotive..it was like night and day. They treated me (and my car) with respect, told me what was wrong with my car, kept in constant contact with me and got everything fixed within a few days. Already told my co-workers about this shop and would definitely recommend them to anyone else.
