I will NEVER do business with this UNPROFESSIONAL business again. Our reservation for a 12 passenger van was placed over a month in advance. Hours before our pick-up, we were told our vehicle was cancelled. We invested over $2000.00 in a rental facility in Myrtle Beach and had no way of getting there. The Avis representative showed no concern and was even going to charge us a cancellation fee, when WE didnt cancel.....THEY DID!! THIS BUSINESS NEEDS TO BE CLOSED!!!!

This company will scam you dry. BUYERS BEWARE!!!Update: I have been informed that I am being reimbursed the $240 towing fee. It usually takes 10 business days to see a deposit, today is day 3. Still be aware to keep an eye on charges and take pictures of EVERYTHING and get names and contact info on everyone involved!!

Would give negative stars if possible. Made a reservation for a moving truck months in advance. Only to be called less than 24 hours before the move, to be notified that All trucks are broken down. Shut this worthless excuse for a business down. Even worst local agent did not offer to help, only said to call corporate. CLOWNS!

Reserved a vehicle more than a month in advanced. Avis called the day before our scheduled trip to tell us that they didnt have a van for us. Then they told us that they would not charge us a cancellation fee. But we did not cancel, so the statement about the cancellation fee was unnecessary. They did not do us a favor. We were left having to carpool kids in 3 different vehicles in order to get to our destination. This inconvenience ended up costing us more money. Avis did not offer any resolution. We will not use them again.

My family and I had a van rental which we needed for a six hour drive with my elderly grandmother of 88, and mother of 65yo. I booked the reservation a month ahead, well in advance. HOWEVER, a week before, they called to let me know they had canceled my reservation, and rented the van to a golfing tour, the PGA instead. I felt this was very rude, and unprofessional! I will not rent from them again.**UPDATE**: THE OWNER/OPERATOR FOR THIS LOCATION, DANTE TRULY CAME THROUGH FOR US AND FOUND US A VEHICLE LAST MINUTE, BUT GREAT VEHICLE!!! IT WAS A STRESSFUL PROCESS, BUT TURNED OUT WELL IN THE END. THE REPLACEMENT VEHICLE WAS NOT AS BIG AS WE ORIGINALLY HAD DESIRED, BUT BIG ENOUGH FOR OUR NEEDS. WE THANK THEM SO MUCH FOR ALL THEIR EFFORTS IN MAKING THE SITUATION RIGHT FOR US, AND WE WILL BE RETURNING TO THAT LOCATION FOR ADDITIONAL RENTALS.

I had a horrible experience. When I picked my car up I observed the gentlemen (I believe he said his name was Charles) being condescending to a customer seeking to rent a vehicle. I assumed it was an isolated incident, however, upon returning my vehicle he was disrespectful and patronizing to me and stated he was going to charge me for an additional day when I had my vehicle back on time. It was a troubling experience full of micro-aggressions and total disrespect and when I shared I was going to write a public review he smirked and totally disregarded me. I never write reviews but I feel compelled to warn people about this place and the way people are treated in 2021.

I ask for a certain car was told no, the car I was given was dirty both out and inside with dirt, food, spots on the plastic, dirty seats. They refuse to give me another car so I had to wait like 20 minutes until the cleaned my car. I watch three people come in after me and jump into the same size clean car.

Always a seamless experience picking up my rental car. This location asks that you do your own walk-around to note any imperfections on the vehicle before leaving. Friendly, efficient staff. All vehicles Ive ever rented are near new. Great rates. Highly recommend.

Booked a trip 30 days in advance and they cancelled our vehicle. They attempted to charge us a cancellation fee and we had to remind them that we did not cancel, they did. My non -profit organization booked a beach house for children to have a vacation totally $3,000. We had to carpool three personal cars at the last minute to transport them. Highly unprofessional! I will also leave this information on the Better Business Bereau.

I am so disappointed in this car rental facility. We reserved a 12 passenger van a month in advance. We received a phone call stating that our vehicle was already gone because of double booking done within the practice. The best the employee told us she could do would be not to charge us a cancellation fee even though we clearly never cancelled. Judging by several other reviews, this seems to be an ongoing issue. An after the company director left a review, she just got a lackadaisical, repetitious reply from Jasmine. Either truly address the problem or just not respond at all. Its quite disrespectful.

Avis Car Rental is the worse car rental place in Savannah. I reserved a van over a month in advance to take my students on a brief trip. Literally less than 24 hours before the day I am suppose to pick my rental up, I received a phone informing me that they did not have the 15 passenger van I reserved over a month ago. The lady I spoke to was so rude and was not helpful at all. She did not attempt to find another way to help me and I had already paid over $3,000 for our vacation home so I could not cancel the trip. I WAS GIVEN LESS THAN 24 HOURS TO RESCHEDULE! When I asked if she could possibly give me 2 vans or assist me in another way, she simply stated that she could only waive the cancellation fee. I was furious because I DIDNT CANCEL so waiving the cancellation fee was not helpful to me AT ALL. All of my parents and staff were furious! This is such an unprofessional business.

Dissatisfied doesnt even cover half of how I feel. My dance studio rented a van a month out, and the night before we were supposed to pick it up, they canceled on us. Truly unprofessional. Not only did they cancel, but they told us that they would not charge us a cancelation fee, when my studio didnt cancel in the first place. They did. There was no compensation for the last minute change. We had five children with us, and no transportation the night before our trip. Being a black owned business, I feel as if it were racially motivated, as our needs were so casually discarded. Though we eventually figured it out, it really put a damper on the mood, and costed us to use our own vehicles, which were not made for long distanced traveling. I advise all people looking for a vehicle to avoid this business at all cost, as if it were Covid itself.

Good experience with the pickup-bad experience with the return. Curtis, the only customer service guy there worked slowly through a waiting line of customers. Due to the 26 minute wait, I was charged for an additional hour of rental time at no fault of my own. Additionally, he charged me the less than 75 mile flat rate fuel charge, even though the tanks were filled to full. I had to call Avis to cancel the extra charges. It was a shame-poor customer service on Curtis’ part. Good customer service on the phone centers part. The vehicle was fine and as expected.

I prepaid for my rental and my plans changed so i turned my rental in. was told i couldnt get my money back because i prepaid? Really Avis stole my money. ive been charged for more money and than i rented for. Avis sucks will never use again and i will write as many bad reviews as i can.

This a co-branded car rental place(With Budget) — we walked in, presented driver’s license and credit card and walked out with a Chrysler 300 (we reserved a mid-sized car, so this was a free upgrade). Total time spent was about 10 minutes and we were on our way. Staff was very friendly, and there was no up-sell for additional insurance, etc. Very pleased with the experience and the card. Kudos!

Very disrespectful and dissatisfied. I reserved my vehicle 2 months in advance! I was so hurt that the day I went to pick it up they had NO vehicles!!! I must admit I cried. I was so disappointed because it was planned in advance to see my mother and family. It was the anniversary of my brothers death and we were supposed to come together at my mothers home. They didnt accommodate me and I will never use Avis again!!!☹

Customer service sucked at my pick up time, girl had an attitude Everytime I was asking her question. I prepaid for my car and when I got there I had to wait for the car to arrive. No one never answer the phone at this location. Gotta call about 5 times to get someone at the desk. Loved the car I got, it was very clean and spacious (Mazda 6). But the customer service is why I gave it a 1 star because the girl at the desk at the time of my pick up.

Tried to call at least 5 times in the morning of my rental reservation to make change and nobody picked up the phone. Finally made all the way to the location and it was closed. Called the national line and was told they probably just didn’t want to answer the phone calls. This is a very frustrating experience and does not live up to Avis standards.

2021: 1 star. What in the world happened? One vehicle, 24 hour rental over $400. I asked and the response was, supply and demand, everybody is renting vehicles, but there is a shortage of enough vehicles to go around.I am obviously not an economist, because that just makes no sense as a customer service response. Do not use any discount codes (even military) or think your Preferred AVIS membershipwill help, because you get charged more! If I am going to pay $400 for 24 hours, you best believe I will buy a car and have an asset (even if it does lose value as soon as I drive off the lot).2019: 5 stars. AVIS and Budget Rental have joined forces, so currently you need to look for the Budget sign. The employees are friendly. The car was excellent, the cost was more than fair. Will not hesitate to utilize again in the future.2016: 1 star. Bait and switch reservation. While reserving a one-way rental, the process did not present that a charge for mileage would be imposed. Disappointed. But, we ultimately found a great deal with a rival.

VETERANS, please read before thinking about renting here.From the beginning the staff was cold. They didnt greet us nor let us know theyll be right with us. My Veteran brother cant drive but he was going to pay for a one day rental but they deny his money. I had to go get my credit card from my house and that wasted about an hour.drop-off day was Saturday but I was late for about 30 minutes or so. They we closed so the did not checked the car until Monday morning charging me for the whole weekend. I ended up paying for 2 extra days.I am never coming back to this place again

So my daughter went online and rented a SUV for us. We got a confirmation code by email, and at 8:00 AM, the time we were supposed to be there, we were there but the man who had the SUV was not. Understandable, all of us are late to something every once and a while. Anyway, so we waited for about over an hour for the SUV, and much to our surprise the SUV was given to someone else who was also given a confirmation code for the same SUV and for the exact same time. So youd think Talk to Avis, Get a new SUV. But it was not that simple as there were many people behind us and no cars to give. IT GETS WORSE. So we did talk to Avis and someone who worked there told us to head the Savannah airport for our vehicle and assured us there was one waiting. But when we got there they also had no SUVs and informed us that no one from the Abercorn Avis had spoken to them about SUVs for our family. Let me just say, this was all very inconvenient because we have my grandchildren so we needed this vehicle to for a 12 hour drive to make it to my husbands cardiologist appointment. So we went to Savannah, being told that there was an SUV for us and arrived only to see a vehicle that was trashed inside and damaged outside. Being that the SUV was not ready, they offered a van that was sitting there since 8:00 AM. Now they don’t have the keys to the van they offered, and at 12:15 in the afternoon we are still waiting for a call. Very disappointed in Avis and will not be a future customer.

Beware of late fees that may be put on your bill that you dont know about. My friend had a $19 late fee on her bill she didnt know about but learned of after she returned the car and called Avis billing office. Brandy, the manager at this location, tried to deny there was a late fee on her bill -- but there was. Theres a lack of honesty and good customer service here. And the Avis district manager, Scott Hansen, doesnt do what he says hell do and doesnt always return calls, even from customers. Its obvious he lacks in good customer service also.

Went to a non-airport location in Tampa FL to rent a car using a 3 day certificate I purchased with reward points. Even though weekends were not excluded, they would not accept the Avis Car Rental certificate and I ended up paying around $300 for a car I drove less than 20 miles. A cab wouldve been a much smarter choice.This has nothing to do with the location at 7070 Abercorn St. in Savannah GA. I have never rented a car from that location.

This Avis saved the day for me! I was in Savannah, GA on business and believed I had a reservation with another rental company to return to Columbus, OH. The other rental company gave me an intense hassle and doubled the cost of my reservation because I was renting with an out-of-state license. After I walked out in complete frustration with no car, I contacted Avis. The helpful staff made renting a car hassle-free and I left moments later paying a third what the other rental company was charging! The only drawback to my entire experience was that the car I received had a slight alignment issue. This issue was really quite minor and I likely wouldnt have noticed if I didnt drive cars for a living. Avis saved me money, hassle, and headache in a timely fashion that allowed me to get back on the road and back to work! Next time, Ill start my rental at Avis.

Customer service is horrible. The time of operation is very inconvenient to the customers. There is no drop box for the convenience of the time of the operation. Sears and Avis has no relationship at all, it took thirty minutes to reach someone on the phone. Sears and Avis share the same build, how do you not know any information! Customer service lack from Sears and Avis, they shouldnt share the same complex if their customer service does not extend past their norm.

20min to see no one. The sears people have nothing to do with this so it is only avis employee who is responsible. I dont know if its a lack of employees but you shouldnt put up a sign that says a few minustes when u take more than 20min. Believe it or not when i rent a car its because i need to get somewhere quick not have my time wasted.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This was one of the WORST experiences ever!! The young lady who worked the afternoon of 2/2/17 was terrible!! Attitude soon as we walked in. Didnt greet us at all. We didnt have the right debt card, but the way she explained it was terrible. Didnt have any empathy or compassion after I explained to her that my daughter was getting married. Smh. I WOULD never recommend anyone to AVIS. She isnt a good representation of the company. I was so disappointed, this was a start of my weekend.

Completely horrible. First the savannah airport location would not honor my reservation that I made online and wants to charge me way more than agreed because they didnt have the type of vehicle needed and only had a bigger vehicle. Then we were told to go the oglethorpe mall location where we were quoted one price take our trip have problems with their car get back 4 hours later than expected then when we get there are charged way more than agreed. We were repeatedly called liars questioned as if we were suspects in a police station then told to call the office 1800 number to get our money back which was a lie. I wouldnt recommend anyone to spend their hard earned money here. Especially if Brandi is the cashier. She will lie and tell you shes the manager she got on the phone with the customer service agent and I and told them that Im not who I say I am that I am a liar again. My advise just use ENTERPRISE.
