Well I went in to get my car looked at it turns out It was a bad starter. So they did charge a fee to inspect it to know what was wrong which I get. I do have to say the part and labor seems really well but when they called to let me know the cost they told me 560.00 which is already expense for a starter replacement. Then I get there and it’s 585.00 it would just be nice to have them tell me the truth about how much it actually cost. They also gave me a 3 year warranty which is better then nothing. So all said and done I paid 610.00 for a starter that’s with the inspection fee. I called another shop they said they could do it for 350 and the starter that they put in has a lifetime warranty. So just want to let people know if your willing to get over charge for for a service this is the place for you….

I went to Southcross Auto Service in Savage because of previous reviewers having had positive experiences. My initial service was for an oil change -- but I was informed by Olivia that rear brakes were likely needed, as they appeared to be a safety issue. I looked back in my car file in hand and saw that, indeed, brakes were noted as a future repair. So not only was the service done professionally and timely -- but the fact that they were accurate and didnt try to pull the wool over my eyes to make a sale was heartening. I will return for future work and maintenance, Steve. Thank you for being honest.

I went to SouthCross auto after 4 different shops told me that the vibrations I had were “normal for a truck with this many miles”…….I didn’t buy that and neither did the folks at SouthCross. They took time diagnosing the issue that other places just glossed over. They found exactly what was wrong, replaced it and had me on my way much more quickly than expected. I am here to tell you that my 4Runner drives better than most new cars I have ridden in. My truck didn’t drive this smooth when I bought it. I will only use the folks in the future! Southcross Auto has been doing the repairs on our 2 Mercedes and our Toyota FJ for the past several years. They always do a great job. They have done everything from routine maintenance to a complete transmission replacement. They also upgraded the suspension on my Mercedes C230K. This shop can be trusted for anything that you want to have taken care of on your vehicle.

Steve, Tim and the entire team did a great job taking care of my 2011 Chevy Cruze when I brought it in. They were able to diagnose the problem very quickly and provide an answer to me on how to fix it and gave me an honest and good quote. They took their time to make sure it was done the right way and provided me with updates along the way. While the car was in the shop they gave me a nice and clean courtesy car to use so I wasn’t stranded. On top of all of that the customer service was top notch and they truly cared about my situation. I would definitely recommend Southcross for an oil change or a major repair! Great job guys!

A week ago I was about to leave my house for work and my check engine light started flashing and my car started shaking. I knew I couldnt go to work with my car in that condition, so I gave Southcross a call and they were able to get my car in, diagnose the problem, give me a call to let me know what was wrong and how much it would be to fix it, and then fix it all within a span of about four hours. The gentlemen that were in the shop were very kind and made everything easy to understand without making me feel dumb. Overall I was happy with my experience at Southcross and would definitely go to them again!

I am always hesitant and skeptical when taking my car in for repairs and question more than your average customer due to bad past experiences with mechanics. The work that needed doing was not easy and not cheap and I know I personally was a pain about the cost. The entire time Steve and Tim took it in stride and were professional and open about what they were doing. My fiancé, who recommended me bringing my car in brought my car back once the work was done and asked them to show him what parts were replaced, and Tim and Steve happily obliged. Steve and Tim maintained transparency and professionalism the entire time and communicated with us through out the entire process. Although I’m not sure they’d give me a five star rating 😅, that’s what they deserve and would recommend them to anyone looking for vehicle repair.

Was having issues with my Jeep engine stalling. Knew I had a sensor issue, but not much else. I have nothing but compliments for this place. I read about this place from the reviews. My girlfriend was having car troubles she wanted to take care of ASAP. They made her feel at ease. They looked into everything she requested and then some. When they were finished with her car they were honest with her about the vehicle, they recommended against doing any replacements prematurely. They got her car running great and it was affordable. What I appreciated most was how they didnt try to inflate prices, they didnt treat her as if she was unaware. I have seen MANY auto shops treat my SO as if they had no idea what was going on and feed misinformation.I brought my car in about two weeks later to get it serviced before a big road trip. I got the same experience, honesty. They ran through everything I had issues with, resolved them, even took the cost of the loaner vehicle off without me even saying anything. I am kinda shocked because I never expect that kinda of service from Auto Shops. So praise where praise is due. I will recommend this place to anyone that asks.

I randomly got my oil done by Southcross and really enjoyed both the experience and the price. I recently had to get my brakes looked at, which turned into brakes and rotors replaced. I turned in my car at 9:30am and they were done with my back brakes by 11:00am!!!!!! such a quick turn around. I did get the opportunity to stay at the service center while my car was being fixed, it was very enjoyable. Overall, this will more than likely be my go to place for my car :) And i live in SLP!!

We have been taking our vehicles to Steve for over 30 years. His shop is the best independently owned repair shops in the south metro if not the Metro area. You will find him and his crew to be top notch and easy to work with. They are very fair with the repairs and will always work with you to make sure you are comfortable getting your car fixed - even though it is usually not the first thing folks want to be doing. He has nice loners to use if you repairs require it. His shop is not open on Saturdays but are open early in the morning and later in the evening. These guys swapped it out for my new bolt during my lunch break. They gave me good advice, reasonable price, and friendly customer service.

Had my car towed there by AAA after it quit on the road. They were helpful, courteous and did not charge anything after they immediately saw up on the rack the drain plug had worked loose. Under warranty & car had to be towed back to the KIA dealer who changed the oil. Super helpful & experienced at this repair place! Who doesnt charge these days???

I wish I could give zero stars, this is the worst place ever. The owner told me that my car would cost $5000 to fix and there’s no other way to fix it. I took it to another mechanic, and he fixed it for $800. My car works perfectly fine now. I don’t know why they would want to rip their customers off. Never going back.

I recently took my 2005 Sequoia in for a leak near the front of the vehicle. Southcross diagnosed the problem and fixed the problem within a few hours. They seem like a very competent and honest place to take a vehicle for service. I would recommend them to others.

The most daunting part about auto repair is finding a place you can be confident you can trust. I have been going to Southcross for several years. They have never tried to up sell me anything. Last year I took my vehicle in for new brakes they actually called me and told me that only the front brakes needed replacing. When was the last time your mechanic told you you didnt need as much work done as you thought? I trust Southcross, and you can too.

I find it very difficult to believe Southcross Auto has a 4.7* score. Ive used their services twice now and both times Ive been disappointed. Each time Ive entered Southcross Auto I was the one who greeted the service rep instead of him greeting me. My most recent experience was an engine light issue. Prior to my visit I had diagnostics run on the vehicle, so I knew what was wrong. Even though I had the codes and everything SCA told me they needed to run the diagnostics themselves to the tune of $130+ fees. No exceptions. Funny enough, they called me and told me they ran the codes and what do you know? It was exactly what I said it was. After being charged an hours worth of labor for something that takes 5 mins, I was charged another 30 mins of labor for the actual fix. A simple turbo sensor adjustment (the 30 mins of labor) landed me with a $220 bill. These guys are scam artists.

I had an unusual ask, and a mechanic named Matt (or was it Tim?) went out of his way to help me loosen (and re-tighten) my rear lug nuts when my electric impact wrench couldnt loosen them. He grabbed a tool, and met me outside (in the cold) to help me. The lug nuts were no match for this guys strength. I asked how much it would be for the labor, be he did it pro bono and didnt even take a tip when I offered. I wanted to give back in some way, so I thought this review would be a good way to do that. Thanks very much!

Was working out of town, they did the job in half the qouted time, and called a few days later to make sure everything was working good. Excellent service, would definitely drive 100 miles out of my way if I had a problem in the area.
