Robert was great to deal with, answering questions before I even became a customer. He was able to custom Tune my car and achieve Dyno results better than I expected for a better price than shops in Orlando were quoting. The work was done on-time and I even got a ride to the car rental shop that I used during the service.The shop also installed custom headers and exhaust back pipes on my car, which caused the mufflers to get misaligned. Apparently the car was supposed to have been driven and then had the exhaust fittings adjusted and re-tightened; since this was not done, my muffler tips actually melted holes in my plastic bumper under valance. I sent Robert pictures and he made everything right by ordering a new OEM valance and having it shipped directly to my house.

Best Performance shop in Sarasota, FL and surrounding areas.I have a C7 Z06 that they tuned. Did an amazing job. Rob went above and beyond as my car was only making 4psi of boost, he knew it should be higher so he found out the previous owner/dealer capped off an important fitting which should be uncapped. Doing that made car go from 4psi to 9.5psi of boost.A week after being tuned my car had work done at dealer (under warranty) and they ‘reflashed’ the tune back to stock so one call to Rob and he just said stop back in and he immediately reloaded his tune into the car. No charge; they again, go above and beyond.I will ONLY be taking my car to Skips going forward. I am driving my car for 1 week to ensure warranty issue is fixed, then next appointment to drop off car for ported blower, lower pulley and re-tune. I will keep everyone updated as I continue to get work done. So far 5 stars!I was worried about the few 1 star’s at first (I’m picky with my car) —> But Rob removed ALL doubts with his work, his service and just 5 stars. (Rob is the best tuner I’ve seen) Thanks!

I called for a second opinion for a head gasket job. The owner Rob told me he could save me some money. A week with my car, he called me and said it was $420 and he reseated spark plugs. What bologna. Didnt even put new plugs in. I was never told an estimate, just a bill. Next day it was running terrible as before.Rob did offer to take it back without charging me for diagnosing. A refund would have been suffice.I got a head gasket job elsewhere and been running perfect since.

This is how Skips auto does exhaust work half done welds, or just tack welds on the right side, rubber washer holding up the right side to stop the rattling. They have a 3inch exhaust with a 2.5inch shoved into the 3inch on the right side with 4 tack welds holding it in place, with the rubber supporting it. The power cable is resting on top of the headers which could have caused a fire. Exhaust clamps were found loose along with the wide-band 02 bung loose. The tune they wrote was not done right, nor was it scaled properly. Data log shows fueling from idle to part throttle 10% rich, Vehicle also exhibited spark knock under load.I dont understand why skips auto said could handle working on my car. The also had the car for over a week and couldnt tune it or put it together the right way. They told me i need a clutch when they couldnt get the tune right. Gave me the keys an said i need a new clutch which I dont the car only has 30000 miles on it the clutch is fine.Also skips auto is under new owner ship the current owner has had the business for a little over 6 months. He claims that he has been tuning cars for about 6 years I dont know if thats the truth or not.I just really disappointed in how much money i spent with them just to get a car that almost caught on fire. DONT USE THIS COMPANY. They will do nothing but try an scam you out of your money. Had to spend more money to get this all fixed. ALSO DOESNT RETURN PHONE CALLSUPDATE: it appears someone else as been burned by this scammer.

Only place in the greater Sarasota area I would take a car. Took my tuned stage 2+ 335i for a stage 2 clutch job, no one else would touch. Rob and his team gave me a quote over the phone and did a great job with the install. I can confidently say this place is honest and superior to any other place in the area.

I have a supercharged c7 making 700 plus rwhp horsepower. Started the build in Tampa and moved to sarasota . I was scared to take it to any shop but the shop I used in Tampa because specific tuning done .Someone told me about skips and I took it over. Most performance shops want nothing to do with a built car, especially when an issue comes and I understand this, but I took it over and he was happy to work on it . Found the issue the same day and it turned out to be minor. He was honest I was very relieved . since then, I have taken it a few times for work and retuning and will continue to do so....It runs perfect but I’m happy to say I can trust him and his guys

I have taken my 2006 GTO in a few times now. The last time was for a fuel pump upgrade install, supercharger pulley sawp and a fresh tune. Was very happy with the results on everything, from how the car turned out to the service and professionalism that Rob and his team showed. Will keep going back for more specialized work on my GTO.

Rob is an amazing tuner. He has worked on my 2010 corvette zr1 a few times and I couldn’t be happier. I bought my car with 8k miles on it and it already had a tune and it was coming up that one of the cylinders was running lean and would go into limp mode. Rob dyno tuned it and street tuned it and man what a difference. The car runs like a beast. The way it was meant to. He installed injectors, flex sensor and fuel pump for e85 and tuned it for that as well. the car is running like a champ. Couldnt be happier. Thanks for everything

Rob and Jesse are the best! I recently installed a big cam in my GTO and not thinking did not have tuning setup prior to. After install the car of course was almost undrivable. I was referred to Skips from a fried so I called them and they were able to fit me in the next day without question to get my tune done. I was kind of blown away at how quickly they acted to get me back on the road. Rob is the best tuner I’ve seen. Car drives with near stock characteristics and runs very very well. Thanks to the crew at skips for helping me out and I will be using them from now on for every performance need I have!

Rob acts like he know what he’s doing but he really has no idea what he’s talking about. He left my car in pieces and then charged me extra for the time he wasted on my car. Not to mention the big dent in my car door that happened while under his care. Find a more educated and professional car mechanic and save yourself the headache.

Five stars arent enough! I had air conditioning trouble and Skips was extremely accommodating (graciously looked into the issue right away, realizing I was here from MA for a short stay). They identified the problem (a relay) and repaired it swiftly and the price was fair and honest (nothing extra). Plus, the three people I saw, including the owner, all had a smile on. Awesome experience and service. I had my injectors installed into my cts v and than had the car tuned. Rob was able to accommodate me on a Saturday because of my work schedule. Rob worked his magic. I have been using the Skips Auto Repair family for years and lately I had my mother take her 2008 Lexus in for service with them. Skips attention to detail is surpassed by none. A dealership in town misdiagnosed the underlying issue, therefore, the dealerships solution and parts with labor expenses would not have rectified the problem. Skips correctly diagnosed and repaired the problem and the underlying issue. We are very happy with the quality of service we receive at Skips and will continue to have our automotive services done here.

Family roadtrip from Wisconsin to FL (and back) and noticed a somewhat disconcerting noise in front steering on 2003 Sequoia. Had to throw a dart at Sarasota google map and hope not to get the TOURIST SPECIAL. Never heard of Skips and dont know Jesse, Rob (owner), or others. Both were great! Geniune & very helpful. Got me in right away (lot was full/busy). Told my wife the exceptionally clean bathroom was a very good sign.After a thorough exam...Rob said all was good!!! Showed me some normal wear & tear (2003) to consider in future, explained the noise, and said NO REPAIR NEEDED(!)--we were safe for the trip home. He didnt charge much at all, especially for circumstances, so I gave him 50% more. 5 stars arent enough for a place...people like this!

This place is miraculous. So unlike so many auto repair shops, not only did they NOT try to sell me any repairs I did not need, but they actually “under-promised and over-delivered” on the interventions I did need and request – even providing two additional fixes and another evaluation I’d mentioned completely for free. They were obviously busy, but still had me in and then out, fully repaired, within just a few hours, including having to order a couple of parts, and all for a very fair and surprisingly low price. All three of the guys I interacted with – mostly Rob, who was phenomenally responsive to phone calls and questions, and also Wayne and Jesse, also cool – could not have been more professional *or* cordial. They even offered a ride home when I dropped off the car. Finally, not that this probably matters, but I think it speaks to the high quality of their work: Skip’s is also the cleanest and most nicely-maintained garage I’ve ever visited. I’m really grateful for their help and I can’t recommend the place highly enough.

Took my 100k mile truck in for a tune-up and a general once over. Skips did an excellent job & let me know what needs to be done and what can wait for a bit. Definitely my go to for my automotive needs!

Rob does not have an honest bone in his body. Had my Escalade for over six months. Simple motor swap on a supercharged Escalade. Fuel system install. I’ve had to redo almost everything. I asked numerous times for partial refund. Finally charged him back through my CC. He lied to credit card saying I was not charged for installing my headers “on truck already” I was not charged for my 8 rib pulley kit “ I was charged, he never wrote it in his hand writing bill” I had to explain to my credit card that when a motor swap is done, you have to mount the exhaust and accessories. Proving I was charged. He stole parts of my fuel system “E85 flex fuel” not only was it not installed like I paid for, but I no longer have the parts. Lie in your rebuttal Rob and I’ll post pics showing your conversations between you and CC company. Please don’t trust this guy with more than an oil change. Very poor workmanship and horrible customer service.

This will be my first ever review and Im glad to be doing it. These guys have been great ! Brought my car in because it was overheating and after being quoted at 3 different places as high as $1800 to replace my water pump and thermostat they only charged me $800. They took the time to make sure the problem was completely gone and fixed before giving me back my car. One thing I love the most ! They actually take the time to get down to the real problem instead of wasting time and charging money to fix things that werent broken to begin with. I was also warned of other issues I had going on but not pressured to get it fixed immediately and they let me know the issues I had didnt necessarily need immediate fix, but recommended I get the fixed as soon as I can. The experience overall has been a great one and I will continue to come to them for any further concerns I have with my car, because I trust them ! I just dropped my car off to them this morning to work on another problem I was having ! I hope this helps and one who is looking for a great shop, thats affordable and is run by guys with integrity!! Rob and Jess are amazing guys and do a great job !!!!

Recently had my lightly modified 2015 ZL1 6.2L Supercharged LSA motor inspected and dynoed after throwing a P0300-Random Misfire code due to what was later determined to be faulty OEM spark plugs/wires & interference. Called the shop and spoke with Rob who dropped what he was doing to help me out. Rob is a true professional, friendly, patient and meticulous. Very impressed. Rob spent several hours hunting down potential causes using their in house Dyno & HP Tuning software. Problem solved.
