I had a wonderful experience here. My 2014 Subaru Outback, which I bought 3 months ago, needed its 120,000 mile service. Since I was driving cross country, they also recommended radiator replacement and discovered that one of my tires had a bolt in it in a non-fixable location. It came to a lot of money so I checked prices with the local Subaru dealer. Tilletts was almost $500 cheaper. My car was ready a day earlier than they told me and was returned in excellent condition. I highly recommend this place.

I trust them to give me straight answers, do good repairs and overall inspections of my vehicle. They always are clear about what needs to be done on my vehicle and I am satisfied with every repair and maintenance they have performed.

After losing faith in my former mechanic after a questionable repair job, I was looking for a shop that specializes in Subaru when I found Tilletts. Ive had several repairs done on my 2011 Outback so far and am satisfied that they know what theyre doing and can complete work in a timely manner. An extra perk -- they have a small fleet of loaner vehicles which can be reserved with advance notice. So, so far, so good - I am happy.

Though I have not yet decided on a car, I have to give these guys a great rating on my experience. First, they were recommended to me by someone with 30 years in the car business. Heres what Ive gathered so far.Its family owned. A couple and their daughter run it. They dont finance so there are no shenanigans with them on financials. You secure your own. They specialize in used Subarus and as a standard, they replace the head gaskets, so these already high mile reputable engines are gonna last into those 200-300k odometer days with ease.You can browse their site to see their current inventory. If you see something that can work, it would be worth driving from other parts of the bay area to do business here.

Told me my throw out bearing didnt have to be sleeved, started squealing again in less then three months. Clutch was not aligned properly and was of poor quality and slipped from day one.

I have been going to TL Tilletts Automotive for nearly 10 years. I have had a fair amount of work done on my Subaru to keep it running, probably past its prime. They do a great job explaining the repairs, what needs to be addressed and what can wait. Even though they are not an auto body shop, they helped find me a replacement hood and fender when I hit a deer a few years back - helping me get my Subaru back on the road! They also provide complimentary cars when your service will take longer than a few hours - they are well loved Subarus, so you feel at home when you are need of back up transportation. I would recommend them to any Subaru owner - they are EXCELLENT!

I have been taking my Subaru to T L Tilletts for 11 years. They are honest and very professional, yet the atmosphere is always relaxed. Best of all, I know my car is safe for my family, friends, and for me.

Had rear struts replaced and engine air filter. They had obviously diagnosed the suspension problem correctly because the clunking noise I was hearing on the rear right is gone. Car is much more responsive. Dont feel like Im steering a boat. Tilletts didnt charge me any labor to replace the engine air filter. I dont remember what the dealer quoted me, but it wasnt free. Tilletts beat dealers price on the struts, too, and I just like supporting local businesses.

I am glad I got to speak to Tom Tilletts daughter ( by chance) when I called to say I am picking up my car and then donating it. A week ago I bought 4 new tires for that car too, before I had issues with the steering.The other rep told me they could not tell me exactly how much was leaking from where..., and it could cost me 3 to 4 grand or more to fix.When I got there to pick up my car, turns out it was on the rack and Andrea the daughter, told me her Dad Tom would show me what is what, and what were the leaks and how bad. I brought my car in for my steering wheel was shuddering, Tom said it may just need a new belt! Turns out it was loose. Totally driveable now and the leaks are not dumping on the ground. For a 93 Subaru (160 thousand miles)(not bad for a 93)...he said I can still run it for sometime still. Geesh thank you thank you Andrea and Tom Tillet!!! Specially during this Covid 19 lock down and no work for almost a year for me. I walked out of there paying $78 bucks!!! A miracle?! Just awesome honest Tom Tillet and his daughter Andrea going the extra mile for me, no pun intended. I still can not believe it! I was soooo stressed prior about having to give up my car! This is an excellent successful family business.Well run, featuring quality work at fair price. Theyve nursed my Forester to 250,000 miles over last 6 years. Still runs great. And yes theyll give you a loaner, you only pay for gas. Very nice people to do business with.

I had the check engine light turn on and brought it to Tillets. They let me know they would run the diagnostic and were gonna charge me an hour of labor in the case that I take it somewhere else once they let me know what was wrong with it, completely fair. They gave me a call letting me know that it was the transmission and that there was a warranty through the dealership that should cover it completely. When I picked up my car, they charged me just half an hour instead of the full hour. They have always let me know if there was still life in a part or if I should replace it. Ive never felt pushed or talked down to. Ill always bring my car here and cant recommend them enough.

My car (Subaru Forester 2004 Turbo 2.5) was having an ongoing issue with burning white smoke. Turned out the issue was exterior (thank god), which the service department was able to determine within a day. They also recommended me some other necessary fixes that would take a week.They sent me a quote for me to review, but I never felt pressured into paying something that a normal dealership might get you on. Everyone was very nice and informative about telling me what was exactly wrong with the car. Its been two weeks now and no burning :) I would only recommend a loaner car (not sure if this was an option) for the long periods where I didnt have a car. Thanks for your services!

My Subaru had extremely high oil consumption but an engine that otherwise passed smog and appeared to perform reasonably well. I was concerned enough about potential engine failure to consider selling the car.I sought advice from Subaru North America and a local E Bay Subaru dealer but was frustrated by that experience. My otherwise trusted local mechanics seemed to me to lack sufficient Subaru specific experience.A friend who lives in Santa Rosa recommended Tillett’s, and although I live an hour away, am I glad to have found them! Their extensive knowledge of things Subaru was quickly apparent as was their integrity. They listened carefully and explained my options well. Ended up asking them to replace the short block. So happy with the decision and the results.It was definitely worth a long detour to find Tillett’s Subaru.

Tilletts has taken good care of my various Subarus, for now 20 years. It is amazing to have a trustworthy mechanic, and I cannot thank them enough for how well they have treated me and my entire family over the years. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of getting my car in for some maintenance and to resolve a nagging check engine light. After codes were read by others stating it was a $500+ oxygen sensor needing replacement, I am so glad I got (the hour and a half) down to them and had them assess the situation. It ended up I needed, of all things, a new accelerator petal. Done within the day, under the cost I originally thought I may be looking at. Loaner car to do other errands to boot, and I was able to work in their waiting room while my repairs were complete. So grateful for their service and entire team. If you have a Subaru, these are your people. If you are thinking of buying a used Subaru, I would start here.

I would ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND TILLETTS!!! Tilletts cost me approximately $5k in undue cost to repair my auto. They had a mechanic who was ripping people off, and they knew it.I was one of them. When I brought the awarenesses to the owners daughter of the rip off and cost to me, she then offered me a free oil change.The $5k undue cost came from:I took my car to a new mechanic who confirmed the rip off.I paid 3 different occasions for the same noise that the car had in its suspension.I also brought the car in bc the radiator lost liquid and the overheating light was on. Tillets put radiator fluid back in the radiator and said it was fine. 5 days later the car had to have several thousand dollars of work to fix head gaskets and such. Tillets took no responsibility.I will never do business with you again and I recommend no one else takes their Subaru here. Very poor business and no ownership of hiring a horrible mechanic.

The shop is clean, staff seem happy and work together well, Iwas able to drive a loaner car while my car was diagnosed and I felt the mechanic knew 100% what the car needed and was 100% capable of doing the job, however, the work is so extensive for our old car we would be better off investing in a newer one.

Now have 2019 Outback 3.6 and am happy to continue using Tillets for all service. Brought my 2010 Subaru Legacy 3.6r in for a alignment, broken lumbar support and had the oil changed although I usually do it myself. While they were very busy they took the time to get me setup with one of there free (for repairs of 2 days or more) loaners, a old but still alive Subaru. When I returned the job was complete with the price as expected. One of the guys had taken a picture of the lumbar support to show why I had continuous issues. It was poorly made but Hansel would rather keep taking my money instead of simply letting me know I was wasting it. Tilletts honesty rocks.

I needed to get a replacement key for my 1996 Subaru Outback. The top search result for Subaru in my area was for Prestige Subaru - Do NOT go there if you can avoid it! I emailed them about whether they could replace the key and got no response to my inquiry, yet now I get SPAM mail from them.Not only did Tilletts get right back to me, they ordered the key and had it within a day, and informed me by email that it was ready. They also quoted me a higher price than it turned out to be, and reduced my price, accordingly. A less honest company could have eaten the profit.Tilletts is trustworthy and excels in customer service. They earn your business.
