I had to get the 120K service on my 2001 S80 Volvo so the time for normal service lamp would go out. Smothers European had been doing all the work on this car and they always did a good job, but this time I thought I would save a little money and try PJs. Smothers European quoted about $800; PJs $518 for the 120K service and took off an additional 10% because of a coupon. How could I go wrong it was just a 120K service. The car was running great.Well after I got the car back all kinds of problems started showing up. The check engine light came on and the brake control failure light would come on. These warnings had never come on before the service, but immediately after PJs they come on or not every time I start the car. It has been this way for the last three weeks now. When I called to tell PJs about it they said it was all listed in their report. And, yes it was listed; they wanted me to spend a lot of money on my car while it was in for the service, but the car had been running great. I just wanted the standard service to get the 120K service light off my dash.I asked the receptionist but what about these warning lights not ever happening until you serviced the car? Not their problem they told me - I should have followed their recommendations and had the additional service work done when I had the car in for the 120K service. Want to know what that additional work came to? $2510.83 would have bee the additional cost over and above the $519 they charged me for a 120K mile service. For a car that was running great! I decided to just get my car out of there and never go back.So to you folks thinking about saving some money by going to PJs - dont do it. They will screw up your car if you dont have the additional work done. And who knows, it may even get screwed up if you spend all the money they tell you to spend. I honestly cant tell if they are bad mechanics or crooks or a little bit of both.Just go someplace else!1 star - only because I had too; they are really a zero.
Great Service Every Time!!I really appreciate the service I receive from your shop. I have been bringing my car to your for years and I have always been satisfied with the work you have done on my car. Nicole always keeps be informed of the situation and is very knowledgeable, she is a great service coordinator. It is nice to deal with trustworthy business that does a great job!
I do most of my own work on our 97 850 wagon. On a recent repair, I tripped the airbag light. It requires a special reset tool that would have dearly cost me at the dealer. I stopped by PJs on a whim, and John had one of his technicians reset it despite a busy day. He even tried to graciously decline an offer to make a contribution to his teams lunch fund. This act of courtesy has earned my business on the bigger jobs Id rather not tackle.
Expertise with older models. Repairs done without throwing parts at the problem. Great loaner program. Theyve done work on my 96 850 that scared off other repair shops. They have my business as long as I still own my Volvo.
Excellent service with a super friendly atmosphere. Work done is superior to any factory dealership. 🌟
It is great to do business with people who know our cars and us. We drive older cars and they occasionally need repair. We are always confident that PJs will do what needs to be done and do it well.
Is your Volvo ailing? Take it to PJs for love and care. PJs not only repairs your Volvo but also provides you with support and their expertise. You cant go wrong with John and the gang!
Took my 2001 V70 T5 to PJs because of their high rating on Google. Big mistake ! I needed a simple code read and diagnosis of what is needed to pass California Smog test. After the inspection I was told that the car needed a hose. They said it may take 2 or 3 hours. I waited the entire day and finally went back to shop to check on progress. The mechanic actually told me he just finished his nap and was now eating lunch. I was shocked that I had been waiting while he took a nap. Couple hundred dollars later check engine light is on and running way worse than ever. They really messed something up and woyldnt acknowledge or attempt to correct. I took the car back and the mechanic told me he didnt know what was wrong and maybe I should take car to dealer. There was much more to this story that I dont have time to write. Short story I was completely disrespected and my car is running terrible now. This shop is terrible and made no attempt to correct their incompetent service. I am available anytime to dicsuss to clear the record but as of now this shop is horrible ! I seriously doubt that they care what so ever about their clients or their cars.
The best service and the nicest, most patient, most expert care youll find -- at down-to-earth, non-stratospheric prices!
I am a licensed Canadian mechanic with 20+ years experience, half of that with new car dealerships. When I was reading the reviews I read the negative review about the 120k service. As I was reading it I understand how the customer might see it that way, but as I was reading it I could tell through experience the customer was commenting from a point of view of ignorance. I was relieved to see John Sparkes comments in reply. I empathize with John on this one. He answered it very well. Sincerely Bruce Collis.
Absolutely lovely folks who know exactly what they’re doing
Theyve earned our trust over the years, and have bent over backwards to help us when we were in a tight spot. Highly recommended.
