This is one example of how this location is terrible. Not to be confused with the customer service, this is directly with the mail carriers. I’ve lived here for 10 years and it’s a constant frustration.Our neighborhood constantly has mail mixed up, and then this was stuck in my mailbox yesterday that they “missed” me. Nope, no effort was made from the date this was delivered- Friday, 7/2/21. I never received a key for a parcel locker to get the package. This was not a piano sized box that could not be delivered to my door. This is a prime example of how the mail carrier was lazy and used the holiday weekend not to do their work. I’d be much more empathetic if this didn’t happen so often.
This location lost a package I shipped, when I opened a case Tracy Voneberstein closed the case without letting me know the resolution. Is it really that difficult to send an email letting someone know what’s going on with their package? I now have to waste more time trying to call the “customer care” line to get this resolved.
This is the best post office ever, it has been my local post office for about 12 years now. Even when there is a wait its pleasant because of the people in line with you. The staff is always awesome, friendly and helpful. For all you negative reviewers, maybe be your experiences are a reflection of you. I cant say enough good about the place. Keep up the good work. Oh and by the way, I see mail delivered to the wrong house an opportunity to meet neighbors. Life is short, enjoy.

After moving to Sanford during Covid the regular mail person was gone for sometime. It took about three months for me to get a mailbox key. I had late payments because I could not receive my mail. However, I am giving 4 stars because Finally after a lot of persistence, Angela one of the managers there was able to resolve the problem. I do appreciate Angela very much for helping and also her follow up. It’s governments so delays are to be expected but Angela did a very good job in helping get this done.I do you think this location could use a self-service machine similar to the Winter Park facility. This way people can buy stamps and mail packages and send packages without a teller’s help. I sell products online and would like to be able to drop off packages after hours.I agree with some of the other comments that this facility needs updating because it’s not very user-friendly for consumers. We need to be able to send packages after hours and buy postage after hours. Simple solution is a kiosk machine.

The mail carrier put a gift my wife had ordered for me into a package locker, then gave the key to someone else. Now, a limited edition autographed gift has been stolen thanks to their carelessness, and I literally cant get another one.
Im told my package is at that location but its too far for me too travel which is I have too take two public transportation buses which is for me too much and inconvenience regarding the long wait for the buses,I like it better if the mail person deliver my package when Im home.
If I could give less than one, I absolutely would. This is the worst facility I have ever dealt with. The customer service in the actual location is horrible. I have been trying to get a new mailbox key for almost 5 years. Every time I go in, I am told something different on how to obtain. The mail delivery is so absolutely horrendous! I have had multiple packages that show delivered that we never received. They never answer the phone so I submitted a case online for missing packages. What do they do- close the case with no contact attempts to me...AT ALL. Im out so much money due to their carelessness. I have never had a problem with mail delivery or a post office until I moved to Sanford!

I understand why some of the responses here are negative. Its not because the staff isnt professional and relatively friendly, its because people are impatient and want results instantaneously. Even a short wait is too much for most people these days. The comments about the cleanliness of the outside of the post office and the presence of homeless has nothing to do with the operation of the post office or its staff. Its not clean outside because the proprietor of the lot doesnt keep it clean. There are homeless there because theres a dollar store next door. The post has always been a slow service. I dont understand the negative attitude.
My package from California arrived at this post office, then was transferred to the Lake Helen post office. It had to go Right By my home in Sanford to get there. Sounds like routing deliveries is messed up.

My fiancé and I had a po box at this location for 6 years. We made several in-person attempts to renew the po box (leaving work early so we could get there before 5pm, taking long lunch breaks so I could drive from Winter Springs to Sanford, etc...). Every time we tried to get someone to help us renew, we were continuously told to come back another day because its a lot of paperwork. Actually, its not a lot of paperwork. I ended up just getting a po box at another post office and it took literally 10 minutes to get the keys in my hand. Thanks guys for the bad attitudes.
Absolutely no one will pick up the phone on either line! Even the courier said they wont even pick up for him when hes had a flat tire. So frustrating!

This is my local post office. I find all the employees to be great. They are patient, dont get frazzled and are very helpful to the customers. Always seem willing to go the extra distance. I send a lot of packages, so I print my own postage and get things done before I go, but many times I have seen employees walking through people who are unfamiliar with what to do, and being polite and nice about it. Same employees for years which speaks volumes. I REALLY like my mail delivery lady, too!
If I could give 0 I would... it’s really sad to look at the very nice and well kept post office in Lake Mary and then to see the mess they call a post office in Sanford. It’s not right.... Customer service is trash and the area is neglected in terms of cleanliness. Do better Sanford.
Ive never had any problem whatsoever here with anything. The building is always clean and organized. The employees have always been professional and nice to deal with.
This entire service needs to be revamped. Theyre unbelievably slow, lazy and unreliable. The mailman (it seems) will not even attempt to get out the truck and deliver packages. They blame it on covid 19, but it was this way before the pandemic. Its clear they dont care how outdated their system is. This is why Amazon is running circles around usps.

I have known some of the works for years. They make a point saying hello and learning your name or face. Bobby knew my mom so well she would walk in and he would greet her and go get her mail for her. I went in a week after she died and he asked me if Mom was ok. I broke the news and he was genuine sad for her pasting. I travel a lot and have experience the friendliness of a postal service like I do at this place.
Ive been to this PO for several years now. Most of the staff worked there for many years prior, that alone should mean something to customers. They are friendly and have good customer service. Never had any problems with my mail.

Terrible experience. I changed my address online, for some reason they decided to hold my mail and said that I was moving FROM that address and they didn’t know where to deliver my mail. I spoke with Ernesto a few times. He has been absolutely no help. Another woman called me and told me they were holding my mail because I changed my address and I explained I wanted my mail delivered TO that address. She hung up and a week later still no mail. I called again and they didn’t have my mail where I could pick it up, it’s at the private location. I got the number to that location. The woman there told me she would have the mail carrier deliver it today. Really hoping they do. I have packages for an out of town trip I’m taking next week that have been held there since LAST MONTH. This is absolutely ridiculous. Thanks for nothing Ernesto!!!
Absolutely terrible. Puts boxes in our cluster mailboxes that we cannot take out. Frequently get other peoples mail and find out our mail was delivered to neighbors. Poor hours and service at the Sanford office. Overall, its an embarrassment to the national postal service. Commonsense does not prevail here unfortunately.EDIT 11/6/2020: Scheduled a package pickup with no shows two days in a row. Postal carriers cannot perform the most basic functions of their jobs, which is delivering and picking up mail. This postal service needs to be shut down and replaced with better management.
The carrier missed my packages and just simply marked delivered. They also marked delivered the day before the package actually arrived ample times, please track your packages frequently because you cant trust them at all.
Not sure about all the negative reviews, especially ones involving delivery issues in different states, cities but this particular branch has been first class to me for over 13 years now. Every visit is a pleasure, I am in and out quickly, employees always make sure you do your shipments the most cost effective way possible. I do a lot of buying and selling on ebay and never had and issue with the delivery service either. I am no fan of post offices but this one is a very fine example of how post offices should be run.
I understand that the parking area is not the responsibility of the postal service, however, the last few times I have been there is a strong odor of urine around the front. Today the parking lot was wet and heating up. The smell was overwhelming. I am sad that the homeless do not have facilities but the smell is nauseating. Planning on contacting law enforcement, the city and the mayor.
They marked my package delivered. I checked immediately. It was not delivered. Supervisor admitted to me that the guy marked it delivered while he was still on the road. Supervisor was nice and tried to be helpful, but employees were very passive aggressive and rude, rolling eyes, outright ignoring me, and joking with other customers about dealing with the general public. This package was extremely important equipment that I needed as a teacher. I had to leave my phone number and go. Unless I get my package promptly, I will NEVER be back. Maybe not even if I do. Ive never had any customer service people openly treat me with so much disdain. One of the worst post office experiences of my life.
Why is it that this post office has such horrible hours?!? Most people work for a living and cant afford to take off time to pickup a package! The location in Lake Mary isnt great but looks like perfection in comparison.9 AM - 5 PM is banker hours... please extend your hours to 6 PM to help out your working clientele.

I moved to Sanford Florida a few months ago and from the time I moved here Ive had nothing but trouble with the mail, with the postal workers, ... and Im still having trouble. I live in a duplex my neighbor is Apartment B I am Apartment A. The postal workers dont know how to read or do it on purpose or theyre just stupid and dont know how to put the mail in the correct mail boxes. Ive had mail sent back that came to my exact living address and the companies have got it back saying it was not deliverable as addressed but I get the bill in the same exact address and they give me the bills so to me the post office is just needs to be under renovation as far as the workers go they need to have all English speaking workers that know how to read and write English well. Nothing personal just we keep getting our mail and each others mailboxes me and my neighbors, and its ridiculous.

Absolutely useless. Only leaving 1 star because you cant leave 0. The office workers and carriers give you the runaround and outright lie about what happened. They told me to wait at home and theyd deliver my missing package that they marked as delivered to a locker (it wasnt) and I waited 3 full days with no package or call and have still not had any results almost a month later. Do not believe them if they say theyll get back to you you have to stay on them like a stalker to get anyone to talk to you. They made it as difficult as possible to get into contact them saying the supervisor is available in the morning then saying theyre closed when I call.

If I could give Zero stars I would. This is the most incompetent post office filled with a bunch Idiots who left a package at 7:30 at night on my door step. Obviously we were not there. My apartment complex has lockers where mail and packaged are suppose to go. This was a one of kind part of WWII history that due to your actions of being Lazy it is gone for ever. A very important shipment to a customer that was sent PRIORITY was delivered to the wrong address and left on the front porch. Thankfully this person notified the store about their shipment! Label was typed. No mistaking writing. Needless to say, I will not be using USPS any longer.

I deal with this post office every business day. The employees care, are easy to get along with, and provide consistently solid service. The overall USPS, if there were a way to give reviews, would get a 1 star or less if possible, as we are an online sales business and 3% of economy mail is lost, and 1% of metered flats are lost. Conequently, first class and priority mail is nearlly perfect. Amazing the difference that accountability coerced by tracking makes. This is a horrible company, but this local office makes one aware that socialism hasnt brought down every aspect of the post office.
Had a packaged delivered at 7:12 PM to my address on Weds, mind you the complex I live in (stonebrook) has five or six mail lockers. For the life of me I can not understand why you would leave it at the doorstep at night where there is the chance of packages being stolen like mine was instead of putting them in the lockers.THATS WHAT THEYRE THERE FOR.I literally went up to a postman this evening asking about another package which he gave to me, said he didnt know who delivered the other that was stolen on Weds.
I live in an apartment and have trouble getting packages sometimes, but this time was the kicker that has forced me to write a review on how terrible they are. The package was supposed to be delivered on Saturday (as the tracking online showed) and there was a parade on Saturday, at 6 (5 hours after the mail guys usually shows up on Saturdays). I got no pale slip letting me know of an attempt, but I had the tracking number that let me know it was being delayed. I tried to call from three different phones at three different times on two different days and never could even get a ring. So I went to the office on my lunch break and waited in line for 20 minutes, because having more than two people at the counter would probably cause a meltdown for the incompetent and unaccountable people that work there. I was finally in front of the employee who was nice enough and after explaining that I didnt have a slip, but had the number he went to look for my package, I was then moved down the counter where he proceeded to track my package (just like I did at home) and told me exactly what I had told him, but in more words...So far there is no reason to give them one star, just wait for the kicker.The gentleman who was helping me then got relieved by, the manager I assume, and he began to explain that the parade caused the carrier to write the explanation NO SAFE PLACE FOR DELIVERY in the reasons for no delivery box. He assured me that my package was on a truck today (Monday at the time) and that it would be delivered today. He then said Im sorry for the inconvenience.. It wasnt what he said, it was how he said it, he didnt mean it, and I could tell, so I said Yea, you sound really sorry. He then hit two keys on the keyboard walked away, came back put a paper in front of me, walked away again, and came back with a package for another person who was behind me, and I just stood there; I figured out that I was no longer the customer who deserved attention, so I walked away. It is Tuesday, and I do not have my package and the USPS tracking is still stuck on the 13th (Saturday). I still can not get through by phone, I cant return my items to the website because I dont have them, so my items and money are in limbo for the next (I can only hope) 15 days until the USPS decides I didnt try hard enough to get my package.I think the USPS should be out of business and the fact that this employee, treated a (what should be seen as) customer the way he did and had no fear of doing it, is proof that it is a broken system with no accountability and rude, lazy employees. I for one am sick of it, and sick of THIS ranch especially.

We recently moved our offices to Sanford and since we have had nothing but trouble with our mail. We have more money out than in and our clients have been sending checks 2-3 times. Its sad that we now have to ask out clients to use FedEx when sending us a check.

Donald, incomplete? When you want someone to take your rating seriously, make sure you yourself are not incomplete in your choice of words, or do you mean incompetent?!? As for the negative reviews of where packages are left, its a shame that people steal, but you cannot blame the post office for stolen packages - you can request signature at the time of drop off. A signature is not possible for every signal package unless requested - as the post office also delivers for another large company. I work for a different post office in a different state and I can assure you, there are times I dont want to disturb a customer, there are new carriers all the time, and dont be so quick to think we dont care...make a call - most offices will treat you and your products as well, if not better than the company you bought them from...dont be so quick (and harsh) to judge, we are human just as you are - if youre flawless at your Job, please clue me in- before the post office, I was 24 years into administrative and customer service work, so satisfaction is something I pride myself in and I can almost bet Ive unintentionally upset people - never on purpose. You also have bored people or elderly set in their ways that will rattle your job by the littlest thing or even fabricate stories...as long as it doesnt cost me my job, let them lie - they are still an important part of my job...most of us dont judge even after being judged so try to save the judgements for when we failed you on realistic requests...not from what you *think* you see. I was on the phone for 15 mins the robot operator is hard to speak. There is no 0 to the operator, if you say customer service it just keeps repeating the options over and over. Who ever set up this is really frustrating customers.

Yes, it is IS a terrible post office without a doubt. Most of the time, the long lines are due to a combination of them working SOOOOO SLOOOOOOWWW, always having to go into the back for some reason but not returning for several minutes leaving the counter unmanned, and plain ol just BSg with the customers, often offering up advice and information that wasnt even asked for by the customer! Its really a terribly inefficient office, with no more than 3 workers at the peak times and often just one. Pretty much LL post offices are ridiculous, with lines going out the door during the holidays or at peak times of the day. If they would open more registers during these times, shut up and just answer what was asked of you, and do that efficiently as if you actually SEE there is a line whipping out the door and are concerned by it, you might just get better reviews... but Im pretty sure none of them care at ALL, and there is just no way of managing this agency like a business (like UPS and FEDEX) by trying to improve response time and efficiency if nobody anywhere in the organization cares. The problem is they are federal workers and it shows... they have no fear about getting fired, and as we all know, that is NEVER going to result in a great outcome when compared to the If they want to run with the big dogs, they need to stop complaining about how they are operating on a skeleton budget and lose money every single year and need to raise prices. Any future price hikes should accompany their plan to increase efficiency and require a higher level of productivity of its workers. This is what happens when the government and its protected workers try to run an agency that needs to be run more like FOR PROFIT BUSINESS. The drivers coming out of the sanford annex dont even care if they put the mail in the correct mailboxes, so how can you expect anything else to be done correctly, if at all?

Sent package to an aunt there in Sanford yesterday which my nephew accidently mailed one number off, i have tried this post office now for 6 hours, they dont answer and then the phone disconnects, lets save them some money and cut their phone off, no help at all.

They never answer thier phone. I have a package that was delivered to the community parcel locker and they usually put a key in the mailbox, However, this time they didnt put the key in the box. I called the PO on 3/30/16 AND THEY ACTUALLY ANSWERED!!!! I explained what was going on and the guy that answered said he would call the postman and let him know to check another box for the key. I get home from work and STILL no key for the box. I tried calling all day today so far (3/31/16) and it just rings and rings and rings. Now its the afternoon and its just ringing busy.....What the heck USPS.....call any of the other locations that come up in sanford and they say you have to call the one on 1st St. I said i have been and they dont answer. she said she knew but thats who i had to call. UGH! and of course I work in Altamonte so I cant go there on lunch. They are open 9-5 and i work 830-5. ANSWER YOUR PHONE USPS.

Was not able to get the package because I am working that Saturday 1/27 and USPS left a note to request for a redelivery. Instead of redelivering it I request for a USPS pick up just to make sure I will get it. When we went today USPS can’t find it did not even say sorry for us to keep waiting for nothing.
