I live in the City but am a repeat customer at BMW of San Rafael. This was my third lease from them.I have found their sales staff to be professional and responsive. They also make the buy/lease process fairly hassle free and straightforward.I would recommend BMW of San Rafael as the preferred BMW dealer in the Bay Area.

The water pump and thermostat on my 2016 BMW went out while I was on vacation in Marin county prior to heading back to Southern California. This dealership expedited the repair work and completed it within 5 hours so that we can get back on the road. For this, I was highly appreciative. However, the price for this service seemed extraordinarily high at $3,600! I had no choice but to pay this price to get back home. I called my local BMW dealership in Irvine and learned that the cost to replace the water pump is $1,670 and the cost to replace the thermostat was $920 inclusive of taxes. So it looks like BMW San Rafael over charged me $1,000 for this service. I imagine that they marked it up given that I was stuck and had no choice if I wanted to get back home. But, $1,000 more seems quite exorbitant.

Living in Petaluma, I can choose BMW of Santa Rosa or San Rafael. BMW of San Rafael won my business over BMW of Santa Rosa due to their excellent customer service on the phone. The service itself was good, and the service person assigned to me kept me informed. Unfortunately, when it was time to pick up my car, I wasn’t given the correct information and when I arrived to pick my car up, the dealership had closed one hour prior to what their website said. They were not accommodating in bringing my car to me the next day.

After confirming that the car I was interested in was in stock, I drove an hour to check it out.It wasnt there and they told me it had been sold several days earlier.From the email I received the morning I visited the dealership: I took a look and Stock #xxxxx, 2001 BMW xxxx is still available.I wont trust them next time.Update:About 20 minutes after leaving the dealership and posting the previous review, I received another email, confirming that the car was available and asking me to set an appointment to come see it. Unbelievable idiocy.

I brought my car in for service and was assigned to Jackie! She listened to my electronic problem and suggested they do a diagnostic test of my car to pinpoint the problem ! They found the problem and it was costly but BMW has the technicians that know their stuff! They had to order parts because it was not a common problem! Brett took over as Jackie was on vacation! He is the service manager and he was really helpful and put me at ease especially with the cost! My car is running good and i’m hoping i do not have to trade in -i believe they solved the problem! I was impressed with the service and care i received and will be back but hopefully won’t need too much done next time! Highly recommend this place!

The work related to a failed electric water pump that was covered under a recent class action lawsuit. The work was completed. I was notified, then picked up the car. Two days later I opened the engine compartment to check out the work. It was a mess. The front rubber seal piece was laying on the side of the engine, not installed at all. There were 7 or 8 of those plastic keepers that lock the plastic covers in place missing completely. Very dirty work area.

Not what Im used to from BMW. Making service appt is easy. Arrived on time. Filled out a form... For what? Been going there for 6 years. They know why Im there already. Wait for 30min for a loaner why they serve others who arrived after me. I feel its not just this dealership, its BMW as a whole that is sleep at the wheel .

The experience started off well, but ultimately I was pretty disappointed in the lack of proactive customer service I received from BMW of San Rafael.Pros: Competitive Pricing and quick responses to my emails.Cons: It took several months to receive my vehicle (not the dealers fault) but they never communicated the status updates proactively. Every time I received an update on status or timing it was because I had to ask them and then ask again and again. Delivery day was equally disappointing. They spent way more time trying to sell me extended warranties than explaining the cars features.

Service was pretty good. Easy to schedule and the team was communicative before and during the service which was great. My two gripes:1. Providing Lyfts for people after they drop off their car is great. Waiting 45 minutes for one to show up because the dealership is a bit off the beaten path and and they’re more likely to cancel on you (which happened) is not great. Just get a shuttle.2. My car was pretty dirty when I dropped it off; that’s on me for having a white car and basically living in the woods. But if I’m paying $400 for an oil change, throw some water on the car as a courtesy.

I put money down to reserve a car and then didnt hear anything from the dealer for a week. When I finally got a hold of the internet sales manager, I was told I would be refunded and the car no longer available.Very poor service overall. I wont be working with BMW of San Rafael in the future.

Receptionist said my car was getting washed and vacuumed. When it was returned, it was clearly unwashed. My advisor never informed me that the recall was going to take over night and I was not offered a loaner. I had to scramble last minute to find a vehicle to drive. Happy the recall was completed, but very disapoinef with the service.

Was greeted immediately, even though I was there before opening, was in my loaner car and off in less then 15 minutes. Was notified of issues and was also notified that my car would take more than a day. Was then notified it was ready at 3PM and it was waiting out front when I got there at 3:03. Briefly reviewed my bill online and was out of there in just a few minutes again. That was extremely easy!

BMW San Rafael Service Center is exceptional. Jacqui has been helping me directly for years and is great to work with. Everyone else is equally as great with a special shout out to Will who seems to go a above and beyond to help clients out on the service drive.I do have one opportunity for this office but do not think it should reflect on this review. I had an issue with my sunroof on a Friday afternoon. Sunroof stuck in open position and would be a hazard leaving it as is in my neighborhood. When i called, a woman who answered could not find some in service to take my call. She was not solution oriented nor did much to help with my issue. She said the service center was closing soon and there are no courtesy cars available even if i wanted to leave my car. I ended up going directly to the service center where Will was able to have a tech look and correct the issue in less than 10 mins. Will also offered to find a courtesy car for me should the issue not be resolved. It would be great to review this as an opportunity and if you find yourself stuck, seek help from mgmt. You’re customers are important!

Professional. Was met with a friendly rep and my car was serviced quickly. My only suggestion would be to remove some of the lounge chairs in the waiting area and add a large (or a couple) of tables where people can get their work done while waiting. The new normal means that were all versed in working from various locations and an auto dealership should be no different than a Starbucks. The other suggestion would be a get much better wifi as my phone provided a faster connection.

It wasn’t very good. I made an appointment to have my vehicle serviced three weeks in advance specifically requesting a loaner. I received three email reminders before the appointment date. The appointment was at 9 AM. I arrived at 8:40 AM. An employee approached me and asked me to give him my vehicle keys and complete a form. I did and he told me to go to the waiting room and someone will assist me in a “few moments”. At 9:30AM I went to another employee who stated I was not on the “loaner’ schedule. I asked for my service rep, who was Jackie. She assisted in getting me a rental through Enterprise. An Enterprise driver picked me up about 10 minutes later and transported me to their location for the rental. The dealership seemed to to be in a state of chaos with no leadership.

Really great experience. They were able to get me in the same day for a service appointment. I checked in, was given a beautiful 5 series sedan as a loaner car, and was told to give them a few hours to diagnose the issue. My car was ready 4 hours later and it was a covered repair, so I didn’t even have a bill. I really appreciate the customer service and professionalism of BMW of San Rafael.

I like this dealership a lot. I own two BMW’s and I’ve had them serviced here a number of times. I’ve always been treated very well by all the staff I’ve dealt with and the turnaround times are always within what is promised. Work prices are fair by dealership standards and the whole operation is Seamless. At the end they always wash my cars returning them in better condition than when brought in. Bravo BMW San Rafael you know how to treat your customers!

I rated the experience with one star not because the service advisor was not professional accommodating or knowledgeable but because the cost of the service was outrageous Basically $747.57 to replace a single low beam light bulb. $235 for the bulb is high but ok. However 197 for diagnosis and 432 for labor is beyond belief. I have been a customer for over 30 years and have been willing to pay a premium for service but this was a straight forward gouge. The sort of thing will hurt your bottom line eventually.What do I expect from this response? I am sure you will send me “The Bed Bug Letter” (look it up) and that will be that but if you get enough of these responses you might take action.

Just purchased my RS3 from BMW of San Rafael - great competitive pricing. Working with Bruce was great. Follows up on time, and answers all questions thoroughly. If you are looking to buy a car from BMW of San Rafael, ask for Bruce.Bruce went above and beyond to confirm a mileage issue post-sale. I bought the RS3 and Audi had incorrect mileage in their system. They reported it in Kilometers instead of miles. Bruce helped me navigate this process even after his job was already done.

I took my car in for a repair that they said would take a couple of hours. It took 3 days, and they didn’t even wash my car before giving it back. No loaners available and they’ll only arrange a rental car if you squawk. Not sure if they treat everyone this way but if you’re a female over 60, that’s what you get. Can’t wait for my lease to end!

I had an email offering $50 off from Weatherford BMW for the same maintenance but they didn’t have it in San Rafael. I get many emails for discount from Weatherford BMW but never from BMW San Rafael!

I found a certified BMW at Bmw of San Rafael. I called and dealt with Jessy Custodio. I live out of town and was able to do the transaction entirely by phone, text and online. The car was delivered to me by auto transport and was everything I hoped for. The entire transaction was a simple and done with great service. I was impressed with all people I talked to. There was even a phone representative who I dealt with after hours when I first got on the website. He was so polite and helpful and I would not have even knownhe was not a dealer employee. What a smart solution for after hours. The finance person was very pleasant and very knowledgeable. Even the transport driver was on time and very careful. I took my BMW to the San Rafael dealership because I had trust issues with the dealership I had gone to in the past. Turns out that it seems all the dealerships work about the same way. That’s why I take my car to another shop now.There was a recall on the drivers side airbag for my model BMW, so I had to take it to a dealership to have it replaced. I was flabbergasted when I got a call from them saying that when they closed my car door, the BACK tail light lens fell off and broke into three pieces. I’m not quite sure how hard they had to slam the door in order to make the tail light come off, but nevertheless, that’s the story I got. The next bit of bad news was they wanted $364.00+ tax to repair it.My car was in their care, the tail light was fine when I left the car with them, it didn’t fall off on the way to the dealership, and I keep that car in immaculate condition. All the work they were supposed to do was in the front of the car, so what were they doing in the back of the car?They offered no good faith proof, and were frankly very matter-of-fact, and cavalier about it.Needless to say, I wasn’t going to reward them for breaking something and taking advantage, so I told them to leave it and I took it to the people I trust (who charged me under $200.00 and fixed it while I waited).The dealership had a chance to pick up some new business with me. The reason I chose them was because I thought they might put their best foot forward to gain some business, but I found them to be just like the other dealership. If you don’t have the newest, best new model, they figure they can’t get anything out of you, so you’re treated like cattle. My car is in great shape, but it’s at the age where it will need quite a few replacement parts in the near future. If they had treated me with respect, not damaged it, and taken care of their own mistake, they could possibly have gained some business in the coming years. They blew it, and I’ll NEVER take it to another dealership, even for a recall. If one comes up, I’d rather pay out of my pocket, than risk what they’d do to it.

This morning my BMW Z4 indicated a low coolant level and was prompting service. I pulled into BMW of San Rafael (with no appointment) and was greeted with both concern and professional hospitality. After fully evaluating my service needs, I was shown to the customers lounge and my roadster was taken into the service bay for a much needed all-point checkup and fluid replacement.While I was initially told the entire process would take approximately two and a half hours, I was pleasantly surprised when they brought me the keys to my freshly washed car less than an hour and 45 minutes later. Great specialists and professional service, I gave my experience at San Rafael BMW a five star rating.

I bought a used BMW and took it to my trusted local mechanic. He did a computer diagnostic and found fault codes. He checked with BMW and found that they were covered under warranty. He gave me the good news so I booked an appointment with BMW San Rafael. During the call, I repeatedly asked if said codes were in fact covered by warranty and told the only way I could find out is if they did their own diagnostic. I said I had the list of codes but was told they were not going to accept them since they didnt generated them.I get that theyd need to do their own if work was to be performed; all I wanted to know was if the codes I provided were verified by them, would the warranty cover it. They refused to tell me. If they were covered, I wouldnt be charged for the diagnostic. If they werent covered, Id have to pay, which was over $50 more than my local mechanic charged me for the same thing.So I took my car in and was told by the service person that Id be contacted ASAP that day regarding the codes and the warranty status. Later in the day I contacted BMW San Rafael to find out the status. The service rep wasnt available so I left a message. Later, I realized it was after 5pm and called again - service was closed. I did a chat on the website and was told someone would get back to me shortly. I never heard back and had no clue the status of my car.I received a text the next morning telling me they were still working on the car. Hours later I received another text telling me the car was ready and that the work was covered. (this is why they got a star - they honored the warranty).When I got there, I was told that I needed an additional $1500 worth of work having to do with an oil leak issue. I was curious about this since my mechanic did a complete physical inspection of the car and found no such issue. I declined the additional work and took my car.I called my mechanic and told him what had happened. He said bring it in and hed reinspect the area the dealer said was an issue. Long story short, there was no oil leak issue. It was a small amount of old, dry oil around a gasket that had been previously changed years ago. He also said bring it back every now and then so he could reinspect just to give me peace of mind - thats true customer service.Not only was the dealers customer service / communication completely unsatisfactory, it appears that the dealer attempted to get me to OK $1500+ of unnecessary repairs.Obviously Ill never have my car serviced at this dealership, even for warranty work; Ill drive to the extra distance to Santa Rosa dealership. And, if I ever consider a new purchase, theres no way Ill buy it from BMW San Rafael.

I had a great experience with turning in my old lease (330i) and leasing a new car (X1). I want to commend three employees in particular. Hayat Saeed, the Business Manager, was very helpful and managed the transaction perfectly and safely- no small feat in COVID times. He was friendly and very responsive. I feel like I can call him at any time.Rommel Flores, head of the tech genius department, was also invaluable in finding me the exact car I wanted from another location.After i got the car, Josh Idell (Genius Bar) helped me with all the technology, He was friendly, fun and informative.

Overall very straight forward to test drive and purchase a car. Sales staff are friendly and they offer you test drives of high end cars. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was that their no price negotiation policy was not discussed early on in the car review process.

Please don’t go to Sales Manager ‘Jessy Custodio’. Terrible experience! Requested a test drive online, got an email from him. I called him to confirm the time but he had no clue. Finally he confirmed test drive on my second call. On reaching there on the scheduled time, the car was dirty and not sanitized. I had to personally clean the windshield.When talking numbers, yelled my monthly payment and down payment across the front reception. Did not even check my credit history. Was not interested to make a sale at all. WASTE of TIME!!I went to other dealership the following day and got keys to my X5 in an hour

Excellent service - very friendly - super professional. Service center is a tight ship - in and out quickly. My car said it needed an oil change when it shouldnt have and they just did it anyway for me, no charge. Really great experience all around.

Buying a used car used to be one of the things that I was never able to do because of all the risks and head ache. So buying a brand new car was my only option. But during this pandemic, I knew that buying a car was going to be a tough long process. Then I saw the BMW folding bike online from Germany and bought it thinking that I could use the bike right now until I got the car. it said on the website that the bike is fitted in all BMW trunk. That’s when I started looking for the specific i3 that I liked. the first email I got was from John offering me a test drive. The next thing I know ... I was driving my i3 and heading home. Thank you John, Kris and Matteo very much. They turned my buying used car nightmare to a disco nap!!! And the thing is ... I am still waiting for my BMW bike from Germany!!!!!

Just arrived and picked up the keys. To my surprise, pleasure and need was offered tutoring in use of the high tech devices by an employee dedicated and trained for that task. The two times I went to BMW of Marin, they were not busy at all. I had to wait around quite long before I had even been acknowledged. They didnt take me seriously and were unprofessional. They quoted me $800-$1,200 for the job I needed done. Scam artists at their finest. Appalled, I went to a local mechanic who did it in 10 minuets and charged me $15! I just recently bought a BMW and so far I am disappointed in the professional community. I will continue taking my business to a private mechanic.

I was pleased and surprised to find that after shopping for two replacement tires at 3 local places and Costco, the dealership had the best price and they were in stock. Drop off was easy. Lyft home and Lyft back to pick up was easy and fast. Tom (adviser) kept me informed along the way and was helpful.
