Simply put, I would NEVER set foot inside this studio if it was the last place on earth. In fact Im shocked that this place is still in business. The owners of this studio (San Mateo) are extremely unprofessional and downright RUDE. I had trouble with being able to complete a class package due to a crippling sciatica flare-up from a prior injury and I was inquiring if my remaining classes could be extended out to the following month to allow some time for my flare-up to heal. I could see that the gal at the front desk (who was really nice) was scared to ask the owner about my inquiry. It felt like a huge big deal that I was asking for such! She gingerly approached the 2 owners who were rearranging display merchandise in the store at the time. One owner (cant recall names) seemed aloof, while the other (alpha) wouldnt even look at me (her customer) and spoke directly to her employee about my situation while I stood only 2 feet away in her direct line of vision. It was as though I was completely invisible and there were only the 4 of us in the room at the time! I could not believe what was unfolding in front of my eyes. You could cut the air with a knife. I did manage to force her to see me directly, after her insulting behavior, but it was a horrid and uncomfortable conversation over something that should have been handled in a non-hostile and empathetic manner. Her demeaning dialogue was mixed with a shrug of the shoulders indicating too bad - thats your problem while she continued to set up the merchandise display. I have never before been made to feel so belittled. She certainly didnt attempt any understanding about diversity and belonging to the customer!! The front desk gal kept apologizing in whispers to me afterwards as she clearly saw how I got deplorably treated. I feel sorry for the front desk folks. On my 2nd visit, they had guys arranging boxes of tampons at the check-in desk!!! Poor guys.
After long workout hiatus, I getting into my routine again. Lift has really helped keep me motivated with Barre and Spinning classes. The instructions are awesome and welcoming to newbies like me. Looking forward to trying out the heated HIT class.
Fantastic classes. Instructors are very professional and motivating. The classes are designed in a way that you can always push yourself for more. Great music selection - not your usual billboard music. Clean facility.
Beautiful facilities and great classes! Really enjoy LIFT! I would definitely recommend it to anyone whos looking for a new studio.
Beautiful new build. Awesome selection of class, and the BEST teacher in all of the Bay area. I highly recommend LIFT San Mateo!
I’ve been stuck buying class packs at different studios since I like to change up my workouts... but no longer!!! LIFT has entered the San Mateo fitness scene!! LIFT has beat based bike, barre and a heated HIIT class (I took it this morning and am starting to feel all the DOMS) - you can also double dip and do back to back classes! The studio is brand new and gorgeous. There are showers with all the amenities - shampoo, conditioner, lotion, towels, DRY SHAMPOO, deodorant, etc. Oh, and listen up PARENTS, they have FREE childcare during all scheduled classes from 9am until 530pm. There are tons of class times too! Classes start at 530am and the last one is at 645pm.So, if youre looking for a one stop shop for your workouts, go check out LIFT!
