I highly recommend this gym. The staff is always eager to assist with spotting and showing how to use equipment. One of the trainers, Natalie Villalobos, encouraged me to be more confident and to join the after hours workout. I thank her. THRC feels like home. Keep up the great work guys.

The music is extremely loud. You have to turn up your personal music to drown out the horrible music they pipe in. Some of the equipment is old and broken.
Ive been a member of THRC for over a year and have really enjoyed my time there. Joining THRC was the first step in my fitness journey, and at first I was only brave enough to go to the group classes. I eventually moved to working out by myself, and now I work with a personal trainer once a week. I truly believe that one of the big reasons Ive come this far with exercising is because of how comfortable I am at the gym. My trainer, JD, always takes the time time to explain every movement and has really inspired me to keep pushing myself and strive to better myself. The entire staff is always super friendly and helpful, and at this point I think of the gym as my mental escape.
Super proud of Natalie aka Rios aka Nat 🏀Being able to have been her HS basketball coach for her freshman & sophomore years, to watching her determination and drive in college to be the best at what she does has been amazing! Now seeing her as a personal trainer and helping others reach their fitness goals makes me so happy! If I lived closer I’d definitely want her as my trainer! I’ve been a member at THRC for almost two years now. It’s a great atmosphere and everyone is so nice! I’ve belonged to quite a few gyms over the years and THRC is by far the best of them.They also have great personal trainers and group fitness (Mania is my fave!). Ive been training with JD May for the past six months and it’s been awesome. He has an athlete mindset, is always prepared and has enough energy for the both of us during my 5am training sessions.
Two shout outs for THRC -My personal trainer - Gage! Gages workouts are tailored to my specific needs every workout. Im not an easy case, as I have some weak and tight muscles from the high demands of a stressful desk job. But he takes the time to work on each area, and give me things to do at home to help. He has a great way of challenging me, and yet meeting me where Im at.Also, Rocios Zumba class!! This class is everything that I need in a week to make my heart soar! She is amazing! I love to dance, and her class speaks to my soul! During COVID, she had FB Live workouts, and it meant EVERYTHING to me.Thanks THRC for your amazing people!
I recently joined this gym after hopping around from gym to gym in San Marcos and all I have to say is that I love it! They have a wide variety of equipment to use which is great. Natalie is the manager of the downtown location and made me feel so welcomed when I went for the first time. The rest of the staff is so friendly and they made signing up for a membership so easy! I would definitely recommend this location if you’re looking for a new gym to call home. :)

Absolutely love THRC! Ive had memberships at several other gyms and this one is definitely such a family friendly and comfortable environment. Always clean too! My training sessions with Mikey were amazing. He would push me fairly and help me reach my goals each month. Plus hes freaking hilarious.

I recently joined with this gym and in comparison to past memberships with other gyms I have to say I really enjoy the atmosphere it gives off. Im never intimidated walking in like I did at other gyms with that generic-like and crowded place feel. I’m able to walk in and really focus on my workout.I also had a great experience with Natalie going through our initial training. She really knows what she’s doing when it comes to fitness.All in all the other workers as well are very chilled and relaxed but very helpful and I give this place 5 stars.
I am currently training with JD May and have had nothing but a positive experience. He is always available and is the perfect balance of encouraging, but also holds you accountable to the goals you set. His workouts and nutrition are all personalized and very obtainable. I would highly recommend him as a coach to anyone!

PLACE.Why?Because the staff is the most friendly I have ever come in contact with — they know you by name and they take time to get to know you! The staff is invested in you and your goals. Gold’s Gym does NOT do this by the way. 🙂This goes for the members too, it is truly an extended family feel for me!The gym is always neat and clean, the group fitness classes are a blast, boot camp is even BETTER — with top notch instructors.Trainer JD May always brings the heat, the excitement, the jokes, and an awesome workout. Thank goodness for the virtual workout classed while everything was closed. I really enjoyed the classes instructed by Courtney Dillard. She takes the time to explain what needs to be done and shows exactly what needs to be done. She takes proud in her job and her clients.. i highly recommend Courtney. Deciding to get a membership at THRC during my college years in San Marcos was one of the best decisions I ever made during my fitness journey! The memories and relationships I made over the couple of years there are priceless. Every staff member really makes you feel welcome and apart of the THRC family. Specifically JD May. JD is not only an incredible personal trainer and overall employee, but a great friend! He always kept me going with his positive attitude and energetic spirit. I was very sad when I had to cancel my membership and move out of town when I graduated, because no gym or staff compares.
My life has changed in so many positive ways since joining this amazing gym family! The group fitness classes have all the energy and motivation I need to push me to my limits in EVERY SINGLE CLASS! Im so thankful for all the stellar people that are apart of the THRC fam!
I have had the pleasure to train and take many boot camp classes with Mikey. He is very positive and great energy. He makes working out fun and at the same time pushed me to my limits!!! My personal trainer, Natalie, has been very supportive and is always available to share nutrition advice and motivates me when I’m having trouble. I highly recommend THRC downtown because of the 24 access and the size, but suggest having access to McCarty location also. They both rock :)
During these tough times I have been looking for ways to stay in shape and Chas Freeman has helped me stay fit and on top of my everyday workouts to help me complete my goals by sending them virtually. I joined this gym in Nov and had an amazing trainer Natalie, she helped pushed me when at times I wanted to give in to my fatigue. So far these 3 months have been wonderful everyone who works there is friendly and I love how spacious this gym is.
I’ve been working out at THRC downtown since January, I find gyms very intimidating but walking into this place eliminated that fear. Everyone is super welcoming and friendly, it is totally a judge-free zone... and what makes it 100x better is my favorite personal trainer Natalie works there! She’s knowledgeable, really cares about you and your goals and is super motivating. If you are interested in PT, ask for her!
I love THRC and having the THRC in downtown is just icing on the cake! This gym has everything you need to get a good workout in and even has showers if youre on the go. Also, they have TRX bands if youre into those! And whats more is that theres 24 hour access, which is really cool if you work out at odd hours when you cant fall asleep or if you just have an unusual schedule. Everyone is super nice and the equipment is in very good condition. I really enjoy working out here! THRC is the best!!!
I started working out here a couple of weeks prior to the COVID 19 outbreak in 2020. The staff members I have interacted with (Brad and Madison) are extremely professional and also kind and communicative. Since the stay-at-home orders, we transitioned my weekly workouts with Natalie Rios, my trainer, and it could not have gone more smoothly. Natalie is awesome, encouraging, and she listens to me for what I want in a workout. She is also highly knowledgeable in her profession and can explain to me why certain stretches and/or workouts are best for my goals. I was happy to continue my sessions with her even when THRC gave me the flexibility to pause them during the outbreak. I am glad I continued working out and look forward to continuing to workout safely at THRC in the coming months.
My wife personal trains with Natalie and she always comes home happy after a session with her. I am very lucky she found a trainer who cares and gives her that push of encouragement. We have tried other gyms in the area but this one is by far the best.I will definitely be joining this gym as soon as they go back to 24 hours due to my work schedule. Natalie rocks! and so does THRC!

I have been using personal trainers for 10+ years and Natalie is my 4th trainer. Natalie combines her academic knowledge regarding muscle groups and the body with personalized in-gym training. Training with her has been one of the best experiences. She will push you to reach your goals while ensuring longevity through recovery. In addition, she always has a friendly attitude which makes all the difference.
THRC is a wonderful and clean place to workout in. I love how faculty members are constantly reaching out to us to make sure we are meeting our needs when it comes to working out and getting the most out of these gyms. Natalie is the one to go to about your goals, training, diet and other tips when it comes to wellness. She always has a smile on her face each time I run into her and is so patient and helpful when it comes to any questions I have!
Natalie is by far the best trainer Ive ever had! She makes me want to keep working out and want to keep up with healthy habits. Workouts with her are intense but fun! Shes always changing them up and explaining what were working on and why its important. She is encouraging, realistic, and knowledgeable. I recommend Natalie 1000%! She will get you right!

I have been going to thrc for a little over year and I love it, I cant imagine using another gym. I mostly go to their 24 hour gym location and although its not huge like their main facility, it has everything you will need for a great workout.The staff is amazing and helpful. Great personal trainers. Natalie Rios is one of the personal trainers that operates a lot in the downtown gym and I always see her helping customers reach their fitness goals.Definitely consider this option if you are hunting for gyms.
Thrc has been a great workout facility for me. They have good personal trainers that look after their clients. Mikey has checked in on me even outside of the gym. Trainers have personal training and group events that help to keep me on track. Mikey goes out of his way to form groups that lessen the individual cost and make it economical to get a personal training experience. Thanks for all the help.

I found the perfect gym in downtown sm! Best location because it’s so close to Texas State University! During my lunch hour, I can get a workout in and go back to work quickly. It’s very clean and the staff is super friendly especially Natalie! Thanks for all you do! 😊
Glad I chose THRC, the McCarty is larger than expected and is oriented to any workout and group workouts. I signed up at THRC downtown and was impressed, whether you need a quick lift or not, this location is suffice. Natalie and the team here was helpful and friendly, if you’re looking for nothing but a company to sell you then Gold’s Gym is the route. The THRC family left a great impression, I’ll remember how much they care for you and your health.
THRC downtown has a great atmosphere. Natalie is a fantastic trainer. She is patient, encouraging, pushes me to do better and helps me with my foods. She also encourages me outside of our sessions through texts and chats. All in all Natalie Rios is awesome! :)
I am a 60 year old ex athlete/bodybuilder and I highly recommend Chas Freeman as your trainer. Chas has the knowledge and experience to help keep me at the fitness level I want to achieve. He has helped me with my nutritional goals to keep me at a healthy weight for my knee and hip replacements. Best gym for people beginning their fitness journey AND people who have been involved in fitness for years!! I was super nervous to get a gym membership because I am so out of shape but as soon as I walked in Natalie Rios greeted me and made me feel right at home. She showed me around the place and explained the equipment to me and then gave me all the information I needed to pick which membership was right for me. Outstanding staff. No one is ever rude and no question is treated as a “dumb question”. A great no-judgement and comfortable atmosphere.

I was hesitant about joining a gym, but after meeting with the staff I was very comfortable. The THRC Downtown is awesome, plus my trainer is totally better than yours! I can go on and on about Natalie Rios. She is very patient and also has worked with me to work on my goals. As an not so in healthy shape person I am able to work out at my pace, but at the same time take in Natalies expectations of me. During COVID, Natalie checked in on me and kept me informed of when the gym would re-open. I thoroughly recommend THRC and Natalie Rios.

THRC is by far best gym, staff is friendly. Feels like home. My trainer Elias Villalobos has made my workout fun. He has helped me tone up and stronger. he did an excellent job of assessing my needs and explaining the exercises that I need to improve my weaknesses.

He is the first trainer I’ve ever had. He pushes me in our sessions and continuously helps me reach my goals. Even when we aren’t in our sessions he is there for me. Natalie is such a great trainer to work with! She put up with all of my groans, aches, pains, and schedule changes. She is warm and funny which makes sessions less painful. She brings a wealth of knowledge to her sessions and provides helpful equipment to workout wherever you see fit! When I started working out with her I was very weak following an injury that had plagued me for many years Natalie not only helped me gain strength back, but also made sure to help prevent further injury. I really loved working with her and you will too!

THRC is totally a great gym! Has a basketball court, racquetball courts and plenty of space for training classes. Of course it has all the weight lifting equipment and treadmills you could ask for! I leave my children with Kiersten when I workout in child care and she rocks!

This gym is an awesome place to workout and i would recommend it to anyone. Kiersten was an awesome help with the gym and inspires me to work harder. She is very friendly and puts a smile on your face.
Great gym. My boy Elias is a knowledgeable trainer and works there. Dudes a beast and knows his stuff.
