And I went during lunch on a Wednesday and they had me in and out in 30 minutes. Friendly and helpful staff and excellent service. Will be back!

If you’re in San Marcos and need an oil change done, THIS is the place to go. After going here a few times, I made the mistake of taking my SUV to Take 5 by the big HEB just to try them out…..my SUV overheated on the highway less than 2 days later because THEY FORGOT TO PUT ANY OIL IN and 4 months later I still haven’t gotten it running yet. Went back to Brake Check with new vehicle today and back to the great, timely & hassle free service I so stupidly took for granted that one time.

By far the best experience while getting a car repair. I called to see if there was availability today and Peyton said they could get me in ASAP. I got to Brake Check within 5 minutes. Within 10 minutes, I was able to know what was wrong with my car. Jay pulled me in to see what was wrong with my breaks and explained everything so that my mom and I could understand. Jay took the time to break down pricing and gave his recommendations on what needed to be fixed today and if anything could wait for next payday. We went ahead and got it all taken care of at once since they were so accommodating and it really is a great rate to get everything taken care of. It only took a little less than an hour to do all 4 brakes. They also do oil changes and alignments. I think I found a new spot to get my oil changed. Great customer service and the crew does a great job.

I had my own replacement headlight bulbs and just needed them installed. Adrian was professional and courteous and, even though they were busy, helped me out and got the lights fixed within a few minutes of pulling my car into the bay.

Jay was friendly the entire time so was all the other staff! My family and I appreciated the price and honesty of the repair. It works great they did take longer than expected I had an appointment at 1 they got my car in at 330pm in a bay for repair. I was all done around 530. The time may be a problem for some but you can’t beat quality! Thank you I will return with my vehicles if we need any more repairs!

Honestly the best shop I’ve been to. I have a mechanical back ground myself and have worked at plenty of shops, so I know the tricks and cons shops use to rip people off and these guys did the opposite. They were very professional and courteous. They did very well at explaining what was wrong and was was needed to fix it. Super polite. Definitely will be back.

I went in for an oil change, and then a mechanic comes in and pulls me aside and tells me one of my filters needs to be replaced, no problem, then he shows me my Air Filter (WHICH I NEVER TOLD THEM TO CHECK!!!) Mind you, I just went in for a standard oil change, anyway so the mechanic says my air filter looks fine and I wont need a new one yet, so they can just put it back in. Im fine with this, well after my oil change, my car makes a funny noise when I accelerate, and Im thinking maybe Im due for a tune up or spark plugs change, I have a mechanic of my own take a look under the hood, and come to find out, Break Check Not only didnt put my Air Filter back, the air filter was NO WHERE to be found and the cover was left open and unscrewed. I was so angry because Ive come to this location for YEARS!!!! And this has NEVER happened. Beware of this location. Im taking my car to someone else who specializes in JUST oil changes and doesnt try and throw a wrench in the system just to drum up more business....

I didn’t get the work done, because there was too much and I couldn’t afford it. However, they still gave me a free estimate, and let me know what repairs would be needed. I appreciate that!

Came in for an oil change and wheel alignment. As I’m paying I asked, as the service was fast, if they checked my alignment, they said they forgot but another car got on their alignment machine so I could wait and get my alignment check and fixed. Said I would come back next week with an appointment. I made an appointment and they ended up not being able to see me at my time, because a car was stuck on their machine, without calling me to let me know even though they obviously have an appointment in their computer. I am told to call back later. I call 3 hours later and the car is still stuck, and am told to come another 3 hours later, as it will surely be cleared up by then. I show up and they tell me they don’t have any spots left for their 3 hours until closing because they booked them all. Seemingly nice people but poorly run business to say the least. Everyone knows how to work a computer in 2021, it’s not hard to call back the people who’s appointments were cancelled and offer them their spots back when your business is open again. They even told me they are the only alignment place in San Marcos which is a lie. Not sure how they think that is good business practice. Terrible

Brakes are an important part of any vehicle, I heard my breaks grinding, so I took it to break check in San Marcos, everyone was friendly and took really good care of me . I even got to see my bad rotor, they were fast and price was great . I recommend brake check to anyone Who doesn’t want to get their hands dirty.

I have been coming to this Brake Check to have my work trucks serviced and I couldn’t be happier with the professionalism from the entire team. 5 stars all the way! This is NOT a one star business, and to the one star review posted before me, PLEASE IGNORE IT. You cannot blame the service team for having issues with their lift. I have had my fair share of inconveniences at different businesses and a stuck lift wouldve been the least of my worries. Jay, the service manager, and his team did everything they could to quickly and safely fix their lift and unfortunately were unsuccessful for a few hrs. The next day, Today, they are back in business! I took a work truck to Brake Check a few weeks ago to diagnose my check engine light. The port to read my codes was not working so instead of telling me he couldn’t do it, he took time to locate the problem, and found a way to read my codes. He discovered I had an issue with my ABS system and told me what he recommended. On a separate occasion, I took my truck in because my caliper bolts were seized and no matter what I tried, they would not come loose. So what did this awesome team do? They put my truck on the lift and ran into the same trouble I did, only they didn’t give up. Jay, once again, came over to my truck and was able to remove the stuck bolts and saved me from a HUGE headache. Wow, THANKS JAY! On another occasion, I brought my truck in to have my check engine light reset because it wouldn’t reset itself. I tried everything I could to have it reset and it wouldn’t turn off. Jay came by with his code reader and had me back on the road in less than 10 minutes. Today, I needed a truck re-aligned. I thought I’d swing by and just see what the wait time would be. When I got here, they were able to get my truck up on the lift right away and had my truck realigned and ready to go in the blink of an eye. I haven’t seen a team this determined to make sure every customer is respected and happy from the moment they step through the door, to the moment they get back on the road. The service members explained everything before doing anything to my vehicles. They were patient with each and every customer even as the phone was ringing off the hook and people kept on coming in for service. This team is OUTSTANDING! I highly recommend this Brake Check and specifically this ENTIRE team of hard workers. I have recommended you to my friends and family and to everyone reading this, I hope you choose to bring your vehicle here. You will not be disappointed. And again, pay no mind the one star review because of a minor technical issue. It wasn’t the gentleman’s car on the lift and he could’ve just as easily gone elsewhere if it really was an emergency. NEVER GO HERE!! Left all the brake caliper bolts LOOSE and had me drive off like that. Only found out from loose bolt sounds every time id hit a bump on the road. Went back and was told “ its normal” . Told them loose bolts are not normal and they completely denied it . After leaving shop i checked the brakes again and noticed shiny new bolts which means they messed up and forgot to put my brake caliper bolts back on so i was literally driving with loose calipers on the hwy. never apologized not once. Emailed corporate never got a response . Inadequate company . No professionals here.

I originally went to get my alignment checked out. I was told up front it would be about a 30 minute wait before they could get to my car. The employee checked me in, and he was friendly. I decided to get an oil change as well since a decent amount of time had passed since my last one. I let them know I was going to wait at HEB, and they said theyd contact me when my car was ready. All in all my car was there for an hour, which is nice considering there were cars ahead of me. Brandon called to see what kind of oil I wanted in my vehicle before it was serviced. He gave me options, and I asked for his professional opinion. I felt safe and confident with the answers he provided. Check out was easy, and there was even a special they were running on the oil change so it ended up costing half of what I normally pay. My car felt great driving home, and it turns out my alignment was fine. Thanks for everything! 😊

Was told an hour to an hour and a half wait. So I walked over to Golds Gym in the meantimeA little over an hour after they started I received a text saying that my car was done and ready to be picked up. I paid online and rushed over there. When I got their they had barely started putting the new brake shoes on. It was nearly an hour until it was actually ready. They didnt pump my brakes either so the first few times I stopped made it seem like the brakes seemed worse then they were before. It was pretty dangerous driving home.

Chase is definitely the guy to go to – he was professional and communicated well throughout the whole process. I’ve been to multiple service shops in the San Marcos area but have definitely had the best experience here. Would definitely recommend!

One Star is being VERY generous!Ive used Brake Check for over 10 years, so I made an appointment at this location in San Marcos TX.We went inside to check in for our 2pm appointment & were greeted by a guy (without a mask) complaining about ALL the appointments today, stating that his 9am appointments are still here & have been here all day! Then he looked up & said well need to come in tomorrow!!!We replied No & headed back to our car, as we walked out the door he asked us if we wanted to make an appointment?¿Seriously?

Originally went to get the brake pads switched out & oil change. Went well, left about 3 hours later spending almost $400. However when they handed me keys they said my brakes won’t be at 100% until I get my master cylinder replaced which will run a little over $200. 4 days go by and decide to get the master cylinder addressed because to be frank the brakes worked better before I went there. Called for an appointment & was quoted it would be over $400 to get that part put in. So double what they originally said and I’m still confused why it couldn’t be addressed the first day I went in. Long story short, I take it to Brakes N More, they fixed the issue for $50 and laughed when I told them I needed that master cylinder, all they did was a simple bleeding that should’ve been done while I was getting my brake pads swappedEither they don’t know what they’re doing or they’re tryna take money any way possible. Woulda been one star review if the gentlemen who helped me wasn’t so kind

Short staffed. Had my appointment for 1 and second guy decided to leave to get lunch with wife leaving other guy alone. If you have so many cars to work on and I have an appointment why would it be wise to leave the work for one guy to struggle on his own. Anyways waited 3 1/2 hours for nothing. Other cars coming in where being serviced before mine even tho I had an appointment and was there and hour before others started showing up.

Let me just start off by saying JAY IS AMAZING! if you need any services done at this brake check ask for jay!!! i called early friday morning after being told by two firestone locations they would not schedule a wheel alignment for me because i work 9-4 and 4 o’clock was way too close to their closing time (7) and they did not want to wait. frustrated, i called brake check and asked if they provided wheel alignments and if i could please make an appointment at 5 right before they closed. jay heard the worry in my voice and immediately reassured me that 5 o’clock was by no means an inconvenience and to come whenever i got off work and ask for jay. finally after sitting in the worst traffic and getting to brake check, jay greeted me with a smile and asked what was wrong with my car. side note: i’ve had something wrong with my car for about 5 months and no mechanic has been able to find out what’s wrong. i’ve visited multiple different companies in houston and san marcos and every single time they found nothing wrong but additional services they thought i should come back for. being a young college student i have no knowledge of anything related to cars so i was hoping i would NOT be screwed over again! jay suggested the wheel alignment but also told me he would check first. AMAZING. he said he didn’t want to charge me for something i may not need (THANK YOUUUU) turns out my wheel was slightly off and it was the tiniest wheel alignment ever. jay even said he didn’t want me to pay full price for something so small and gave me a discount. my car was fixed within 30 minutes and drives like brand new!!! thank you so much jay for providing the best service, for being completely honest, and so professional!!!!!!!! 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone (especially someone with daughters!!) it’s so risky going into a shop as a young girl alone hoping they will tell you the honest truth rather than charge you for not knowing anything about cars! i will be telling ALL of my friends to come here and i will be returning!!! thank you so much jay!!!

I went here for a problem with my brake light, and the people working here were transparent in what they were doing with my car. They ended up not finding any major problems with my brakes, and just topped off my fluid. I really appreciate that they didn’t try to sell me services that I didn’t need.

My daughter is in grad school in San Marco which is 13 hrs away and James and the entire staff have been awesome! They have been upfront and honest when she had to have her brakes and rotors replaced last year. Just this weekend she had to get a new battery put in and they helped her immediately and at no charge to do it! *** Update*** originally when I first took my car in for new brake pads I was told my rotors on my rear needed to be replaced because they could go out any day and the front ones could be resurfaced not having very much knowledge about this I agreed to this work being done even though I was quoted over $600! Which seemed on the high end, but after talking it over with my spouse we agreed to have some work done. Now the manager said he went ahead and did the work that he originally mentioned and gave me a discounted price so it was a little under $600 which we were grateful for but now my car is making so many new noises that it never made before!!! I’m hearing grinding, squeaking and my car definitely feels different and not in a good way! I tried taking it back and being kind and courteous asking if they could take another look the manager agreed and took it for a spin around the block and said he heard one noise then they had a “look” at it and came to me pointing out other issues that I suddenly had with my car I know for a fact that something was messed with!! before I went in for brakes my car drove smooth and I didn’t have any of These issues that are occurring now! I’m so disappointed! They were very friendly and I let my guard down because I believed them to be honest and trustworthy now I’m going to have to take my car to a mechanic shop in hopes they can resolve my issues without there being any major damages done and costing more money than I should have even have had to spend in the first place! This place let me down! Jason was really nice and made me feel comfortable and welcome so I thought I was in good hands but this is disheartening knowing that I was taken advantage of because of my lack of knowledge on this. I have six kids and a very expensive mortgage which leaves me with very little breathing room for these kinds of expenses! So with that being said if you want something done and done right without having to come out of pocket for “other issues” that suddenly appear to be wrong with your vehicle then please do your research and keep and eye on your car as it’s being work on if possible there are so many dishonest mechanics these days it’s very sad truth. Just feels like they’re all trying to get more money out of you and could careless about their customers needs. **update** pictures from the mechanic I had to get my car fixed with after brake check messed my car up smh.. he also said my tire was about to come off!! And when I tried to take my car back to brake check and I told them something doesn’t sound or feel right with my car and they said nope it’s fine! We double checked 👍🏻 then I take it to a mechanic cus it was really bad the sound I was hearing were because these bolts got broken and they weren’t broken before I took my car to brake check 😤
