The Japanese Art & Cultural Center is one of the cornerstones of Japanese culture in the South Bay. It is rich with history and has had thousands of Japanese and other members of the community walk though its doors or grace it’s tatami mats all in appreciation and admiration of the Japanese arts it celebrates. The center offers a large variety of arts from martial arts like karate, kendo, kyudo, iaido, and aikido, to traditional arts like flower arrangement, calligraphy, and paining. It even offers dance and Zumba taught by wonderful teachers. The center is one of the treasures of the South Bay.

I love karate here. It is amazing because our teachers are nice. I cannot say how much I can thank sensei Omi for helping me become a black belt. It truly is a huge honor.

Place is smelly and they dont pay their teachers. Often students told that the place is in economic trouble. I believe honor, respect and organization are values that should be present in a place like this. Asking for donations is not okay and not cool if you are teaching values also.

The philosophy taught through their various programs always emphasize compassion, tolerlance, and acceptance. It is rare to find such a nurturing environment for children and adults.
