This review is far overdue! I have been an athlete with Blaze for over a year now and seriously, it was the best decision for me! Prior to joining Blaze, I attended regular boot camps and spin classes weekly. I thought I was in decent shape… and then I had my first Blaze workout. Do not get me wrong I am not trying to discourage anyone, I am trying to encourage everyone who wants to go into the fire service. It was great, it was hard but most of all it showed me that I have work to put in and that they are there to help me every step (literally. And not just in my workouts. They are there to help with networking, dates for orientations, they really have the tools available to help make someone succeed) of the way.Blaze is a full circle one stop shop service. But its more than that. From the workouts, to the family/team bonding to the tidbits of fire knowledge, you get the help and counseling needed. It is not a Monday through Friday gig; it is 7 days a week. For example I had a question about my application, I sent off a text and boom, Shay & Kristi were on it responding to my text throwing out connections and resources necessary to help me succeed (might I add this was on a Saturday night at 8 pm).Blaze is also a safe place. A place where no question is dumb (trust me I ask some pretty off the wall duh questions) and if you cry because you are overwhelmed (and you just might) its okay. They are there to brush off your knees and build you right back up (you might fall but you will not scrape your knees). What is also fabulous, is that you might find yourself lost at an orientation or a test but look to your right and your left, I guarantee you will find someone in your Blaze family (even if you have never met them) and just like that your fears of being alone disappear (this has happened to me on numerous occasions. Trust me, the bond is automatically there when you say that you are from Blaze). I feel that the bond is powerful because all of us are working hard for the same goal-to become a firefighter. On another note, due to Covid we are not able to meet as a group at the gym. BUT Blaze overcame and we all adapted. Shay and Kristi were on it and we did not skip a beat. We went from meeting in person to meeting via Zoom. They loaned out hose, turnouts, jump ropes and weighted plates. Y’all they even researched how to make kettlebells and have loaned them out as well. We meet weekly (optional) via Zoom for a group workout, which is great because we get to see our family members! Shay & Kristi are constantly thinking of ways to help their athletes succeed. Covid is something that none of us have ever experienced. They reacted, we followed and in turn we did not skip a beat.Seriously, if you are thinking about becoming a firefighter, you need Blaze in your life. Do not wait to contact them any longer, get on it and make your dreams become a reality.
I’ve never entrusted myself into something/someone as I have done here at Blaze. The coaches are God-sent, amazing, and truly care about your individual success. I am so thankful that I found Blaze of Glory Fitness while I was in a Pre-Service Fire Academy. I got the extra help that I needed and all of the right coaching for the job. The coaches here push you physically and mentally. And even through tears in your eyes, it is a beautiful experience to see the extraordinary things your body is capable of. Not only are these peeps your coaches, they are also your mentors and your biggest cheerleaders!! I am blessed to be a part of this amazing gym and to have these amazing people in my life!
