One of the best services available, bringing humans and animals closer together.Extremely responsive, responsible, helping and professional. We adopted 2 kittens and the process was smooth, fast and streamlined. We received ample new kitten advice.Special thanks to Ginger, Kristin and Scott for all the help and advice !Very happy with SF SPCA !!!
I have adopted two dogs from this wonderful organization! Zoe and Milly... Zoe was a Dalmatian, adopted in 2001, the best dog in the entire world! Next, in 2018, a Doberman already named Milly. My new darling and a very amazing dog!! Thank you SFSPCA!! You will be in my memories forever!
I recently adopted a very sweet senior cat here. The response to my application was prompt, staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the animals in their care, and the building itself was very clean. Everyone there was masked and hand sanitizer was available throughout the building. I would definitely recommend this shelter to people who are looking for a new furry family member.
Although the wait was long, the covid protocols were good, and the care for my cat was great. They were good about giving me updates as they diagnosed my cat. They provided accurate estimates and a written statement of the care, considerations, and plan for caring for his ailment.Really top notch animal healthcare. Highly recommended.
I fell in love with tatem the cat. Plus they were extremely helpful in the process of adoption for older animals. And kitten season has officially begun.
Iโve adopted several cats from here. This and animal care and control are excellent places to find animals in need of a home. My girl volunteered there for awhile.
Good fish and chips but the wedge salad didnt have bacon! ๐ฎ
I have taken spca out of my bequests and wills and trusts. they have failed me and my dog over this pandemic many times.medicines have not been refilledrequests for phone callbacks have been ignoredrequests for appts are only met with emergency onlyI loved these folks when i got my rescue! Now, i think they need a complete shakeup in managerial style and operations. This organization is just another example of SF failed bureaucracy!
If you ever want a pet, or a new friend, this is the place to go. I met my sweet little cat here and 3 years later I am still in awe that I have the opportunity to rescue such a wonderful, beautiful animal. The SFSPCA Mission Vet and Pharmacy are also my go-to, and they havent let me down. Theyve always made this entire process painless and I get to have a terrific pet and friend as a result. By the way, she is very healthy and SMART; she is so loving, clever and funny that we laugh and have great times together.
Wellness center. Marvelous, caring vet and staff cared for my parents cat.
It was clean and peaceful and the staff was friendly and helpful. The animals seemed well cared for.
Awesome staff, great animals and care and I love volunteering there when I can.
They are a scam I had to wait like 3hrs in the cold while everyone else that showed up got seen immediately. Then they keep my dog all the until 5pm the next night then tried to hustle me out of 1200$ and told me I had to 0ay that for me to know what was wrong with my dog (hadnt been seen by a doctor yet)but they telling me how much it will cost. Then all of sudden when I go there to pick my dog up to go else where they tell me whats wrong with him and the cost only 160$ now. That wasnt a mistake in dogs they were trying to rip me off
I adopted my best friend from the SF SPCA! Thanks for the work that you do!
Amazing pet hospital, the Doctor that treated my two 8 weeks puppies was amazing she made us feel so welcomed and answered all our questions she explained every single detail about our puppies care great experience we were so happy!! Really recommended!:)
We would like to adopt a kitten, we lost one of our cats recently. The process, maybe because of covid, pick a kitten and well get back to you. Oops that kitten is gone, let us know if you see another one?! I want to meet them BEFORE I adopt them. Weird and not really helpful to the adopter.
Wonderful people doing great work. We unfortunately didnt have a match with the dog we came to possibly adopt but the people were very helpful. The process is all well done.
I met my new best friend here. Staff is wonderful, and I am looking forward to bringing Gambit back to see the folks who adopted him to me. A+. Words cannot express the happiness my little buddy has brought me-they do great work here, please go check them out if you are looking for a new furry (or feathered) friend in your life.
Just got a little dog there yesterday. Clean place, welcoming atmosphere, large pens where you can see the animals (or frosted glass and caution signs for the couple of more anxious dogs) and a signup sheet to take the dogs outside to a fenced area. There are water fountains, benches, and bathrooms available with a code. The staff was friendly and patient with all of our questions, and we felt no pressure to adopt or make a decision. The adoption process felt professional and thorough (they care about making sure animals find safe, loving homes) and was smooth overall. They called the next day to offer scheduling a free wellness check!
Thanks for all the love for Watson Lunรฉ, thanks for all your help, Alexa, Emily, Estrella and Irma and all your staff. Love chatting with you, and thanks for always being amiable, helpful and extremely attentive. Obrigado, merci, gracias and mahalo.
I had to take my fur baby to get her rabies vaccination and everyone there all the staff very kind.
I adopted my 2 cats from this location, and love what they do. I will always recommend the Mission SPCA, and the website to see which location to visit for available animals or appointments.
Mission SPCA open for appts and walk in emergency care 7d/wk 8-5; Pacific heights SPCA open for appts and walk in emergency care 7d/wk 8a-midnight.
Havent talked to anyone yet but fingers crossed
For my birthday in 2007, my best friend took me to Maddies Adoption Center. I had never had a pet and as we wandered around, a friendly tabby walked up to the door. All the adult cats had their own rooms, with a jungle gym and a DVD playing bird movies, but she was bored with all the fun and wanted some human company. It was clear within a few minutes that Lily was the one for me.I was impressed with all aspects of Maddies. They are a no-kill shelter so hard-to-place animals are safe. The staff and volunteers were friendly, informative, and responsible.Thirteen years later, Lily and I are still happy together. She is a senior cat now and has been a joy every day.
I heard that this place was a great adoption center. Now, due to COVID, I tried calling them, no answer. Filled out the adoption profile and they said theyll get back to me, its been 2 weeks and no luck. I know a lot of people wanted to adopt a pet during this time but should it really take 2 weeks to get to me? I mean, I look at the website everyday for new dogs to arrive and when I found the husky, I filled it out on the first day. I really think they should have more people handle the phone calls and make appointments. It really shouldnt take this long. Im giving this a 3 star because I still believe that they will call me back or at least get back to me. Ill update you guys if it ever happens.
A phenomenal animal welfare organization that consists of a dynamic staff of hard workers that go to extra lengths to save animals from bad situations & rehabilitate them to make them great pets. There are also those that are surrendered to no fault of theirs and until they are adopted or fostered, are provided much love & care. Great place to adopt or foster a pet.
Great place to take your dog or cat real good service
Amazing staff! Will always trust them with medical care and just doing everything right
The staff there is wonderful friendly will tell you what you need to know about the different cats or dogs or whatever animal you decide to adopt very knowledgeable love them
Tempura was excellent. Oyakodon lacked sweetness via a good sauce. No dashi to speak of. No mirin either. Lackluster.
Not helpful at all very unprofessional
They really love their animals, take great care of them and work hard to find then the right home.
Super helpful helping us care for a stray cat.
All the volunteers here were great and we are so happy we adopted our dog from the SF Mission SPCA. They followed up with us a couple weeks after our adoption and continue to provide veterinary care. Cant recommend them enough! ๐พ The facilities are beautiful and clean and the dogs seem well cared for.
The staff in the reception area is super uptight, and doesnt fully listen when being spoken to. As for the medical staff, they are brilliant just as they should be. When when are clear of pandemic days, this location offers all different kinds of donation items of you are in need.
Having perfect dates with dogs . The personal is super friendly and nice
Thankful for this location. I have taken all of my own animals and also have rescued two animals and brought them to be adopted here. Great staff, efficient, and hard working!
What a wonderful place! The staff is so friendly and helpful and its obvious that they really love the animals. The building is beautiful and of course the cats and dogs are cute! Please consider adopting an animal who needs you; you wont be sorry.
I have been looking for a babay pug..4 ever and signed up too adoption at spca..i have been waiting for 1year and i have no luck yet.
I like that you make your appointment, you bring your pet in and everything just goes smoothly, inexpensive considering I took my dog into another Veterainery office and the price was very expensive and I wasnt told about how high it was going to cost, So the SPCA was great, I couldnt afford my service on this particular day so I applied for Care Credit and was approved with my good credit and my dog was seen, then we went by home, that was it.
Very friendly staff and cats!
It is campfire song time when you walk into this spacious kennel for felines and their canine counterpart. A good organization, works well within this city, community stewards they are. Animal adoptions are kind of pricey but are in tuned with other local animal gatekeepers. The staff is somewhat hesitant to discuss their wards with you at first. They ease up once they realize you are serious and you start talking high pitch dog talk voice.
The best staff! They really care.
My all-time favorite animal shelter and place to adopt from. My family has adopted 4 cats in the last 15-20 years from here and the staff has always been wonderful in helping us with the adoption process and ensuring that the cat would be a great fit for our family. This shelter also has amazing adoption specials, events and efficient ways of helping all of these wonderful but homeless animals their forever home. I will definitely come here again when the time is right to adopt another animal from them.
When going in there its become a high pressure sales pitch. I have a very active 5 year old and a crawling infant and they still tryed to pressure me into adopting a dog that was not a good match for my familys composition. I understand the need to get animals adopted quickly but the adoption specialist need to be more mindful of the home environment an animal will be potentially going int. That would the avoid the trauma of an animal being brought back to the shelter because it was matched with the wrong family composition.
One of the best shelters Ive visited with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Ive worked here as a volunteer and weve used their vet services - in both cases, its always been a positive experience.
One of the nicest shelters Ive visited. Staff and volunteers were very friendly and as helpful as they could be. The only thing is that when asking details about the animals, every staff member had a slightly different story about it. If you are interested in pet adoption (dog, cat, rabbit, birds, snales), give them am opportunity, it is a good place.
Just found my doggy sole mate
I loved the place. They educate you on every animal and tell ypu what animal will be a good match for your family! I love this place.
Excellent supportive veterinary care. Rare to get the same doctor every time but the follow up is excellent.
Im looking into adopting a puppy and I hear this place is one of the best
Wonderful staff, patient, kind, and always explains to you about your pets well being.
Really weird experience. You cant meet any of the animals because covid, they decide what you get and deliver it to your car window. And they spay and re-home kittens at far too young an age. Our kitten was still in the nursing phase when we picked her up.
Never called back
What a wonderful operation. I have donated a lot of food and stuff and the staff is always so friendly. When it comes time to adopt again, I will be going here.
They are professional amd kind
The best place to adopt and get your pet veterinary needs taken care of. They are so knowledgeable and caring.
Nearly 600 dollars for a dog! Plus if its a puppy, you are required and receive a discount on the puppy training class. The place is amazing, but out of my budget.
This place was excellent. I felt completely at home the answered all my questions before they started and took my concerns seriously. Why would anyone go some place else. On top of that they have an excellent financial assistance program.
They listened were very resourceful and completed my task within enough time to move on very quickly. I also was given the right information and that helped. Me alot
This place it amazing they fixed my 10 months ๐ถ they put the shift on her and her nails cut got vaccine too i love they do a amazing Job .๐๐
Love the shelter! Free parking, a little tricky to get to if youโre not from the area. We went and got two dogs! Staff was extremely nice, answered all our questions and made the process painless. The architecture is very nice and enjoyed the experience!
SPCA is a great place to adopt a pet. They care about pets a lot, and their rate of adoption is pretty high. They have a large number of volunteers that care for the pets available for adoption. They take a lot of steps to make sure to help people find the right pet for them.Visit their website or in person to look at the pets that are available.
They have the cutest puppys dogs joy going there clean well put togeather go see
We spent about an hour plus here this afternoon checking out a new pooch with a friend. Thankfully we beat the Sunday afternoon rush and were able to get to meet Rose fairly quickly. The volunteers were incredibly helpful, and everyone there, including the dogs, were happy. The facility was clean, bright and very welcoming. I wish I could have taken one home myself. Wheres my friend with Rose? Well, well see, she has to bring her kids in with her to make sure that Rose will get along with everyone. Keeping our fingers crossed since Rose is a sweet dog whos very deserving of a forever home.
I adopted a beautiful 5 month old chihuahua who I named Franzi. When I was young, we had a dog named Tippy. However, after a few days I realized that I couldnt walk Franzi because of a back injury in the Army. My heart was broken when I had to take her back. However, a couple of months later, I adopted a cat who I named Liebchen and I love her so much it hurts. Since I live in Presidio Heights I take her to the site in Pacific Heights.
I love this place. The employees are so motivated on helping your pet that I have seen them call someone from another department to assist a person. Their prices cant be beat. And for me personally they have the best veternarian doctors around. Knowledgeable, patient and full of resources I highly recomnend you bring your pet here. You will be happy you did. And so will your fur baby
We got 2 sweet furry babies from this SPCA and continue to come here for their Vet appointment. This place is clean, comfy, cozy and safe environment for the guests, cats and dogs. They are amazing and take very good care of their pets.
Staff is awesome
I am dog volunteer there and I love it. The facility is clean and new and everyone treats all the pets there really well. I wish more people donated their time to this wonderful cause. I am training to work with sick dogs and am looking forward to getting more involved with this organization.
Love SFSPCA! Always clean and welcoming to everyone. They ard always so kind and loving to me and my baby ๐
Great adoption experience, caring people and really nice looking place and I can definitely recommend it to someone who needs an advice or wants to adopt. Animals are well fed there and have a good amount of space to easily fit at least 3 visitors in the room. Pet hospital is next door. We have adopted two little kittens there.
