I bought a nice grey leather jacket and they helped me add a custom patch. The sleeves were too long and they shorten them to my liking. It was a great personal experience and I already told all my girlfriends to come here to get their leather jacket.

Johnson leathers is an SF institution, and deservedly so. You will not find nicer customer service than Damon and Al, and you wont find higher quality garments than the ones the have on offer. I dont like writing reviews, but the service and quality at Johnson leather are so superb that it warrants me taking the time. Please stop by and expirience a REAL piece of SF. The jacket they custom made for me was modeled after my fathers Johnson leather jacket from the 90s, and I hope to hand my jacket down someday just like my dad did for me. Thank you Johnson leathers. My family and I are forever thankful.

Few years ago I found this store somehow online and ordered my first custom-made jacket. Since then I only go for their leather jacket because the quality of their jacket is super great and so is their costumer service. When I needed to ask for some modifications on my new jacket recently I purchased, they were willing to take it back in and made another modified jacket for me with no problem. I highly recommend every leather lover to visit this store! You will love both the store and staffs !!

The place is owned by the same people for a very long time. They know their leather and they know how to serve their customers. I have had nothing but pleasant interactions there, buying armor and modifying gear.If you like the designs, you will get a great product. I almost wish I needed another leather jacket so I can get one made here.

Amazing Motorcycle jackets. Classic look, excellent build, modern safety pads. I was given an friends old jacket as he was getting out of riding, though it had a broke zipper. I stopped by Johnson’s to ask about repair and the owner fixed it for free.I since bought the pants to go with the jacket and they sewed the track zippier into the coat while I waited.Cannot recommend this store enough!!

My boyfriend and I drive from LA to San Fan just to pick up the jacket. The customer service is beyond 5 stars and the quality is beyond perfection. Such an amazing shore

Great knowledge and service! Broken zipper on my racing jacket fixed with a zipper stronger than the original. I also splurged for a cleaning, and trust me, it came out in much better condition than I would have had the time (or the patience) to do. I later found out that my manufacturer would have sent them the jacket to fix anyway, so that speaks volumes.They can also do custom work. You dont find this quality anywhere else. If you must have the highest quality, this is the place for you.

The word here is quality....THE place to go for motorcycle leathers in San Francisco or perhaps all of Northern California. After 25 years of constant use one of my Johnson Leathers jackets still looks great but needed to be let out a bit...The work was done quickly and on time.They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. And maybe a little more...

Super friendly owner who really takes the time and effort to explain the whole process to Interested customers. I came in during some sort of semi closed time, but they reopened the store for me and took the time to take some measurements and had a custom made leather belt ready in a few days. super high quality from one of oldest tanners in USA in Chicago. brass fittings, hand finished, non bonded (like the trash authentic genuine artificial manmade leather) super well fitting and durable feel. Ive worn the first belt nonstop for 2 weeks and it looks and feels great still. barely any wear so far. a 45$ belt from Levi or nautica or stacy Adams etc etc etc would have been tearing a d falling apart by now but for $5 more I got a hand made custom belt that should last years and years.thnks very much! look forward to coming back again for more leather stuff!

In one important respect, this is a snowboarding and skiing shop. They stock anything you might want in the way of body protection - sometimes called body armor. I imagine their original intent was to protect motorcyclists in a crash, but apparently Bay Area snowboarders have discovered that they too can live to ride another day.I was looking for upper body armor. Sent an e-mail and got a nearly immediate reply. Had another question. Still an immediate and informative reply. I was interested in ForceField. Alan had both small and medium in stock. Drove up from the South Bay the next day, tried it on with Alans expert fitting help, and drove home with something I wanted that Id been looking for for a year and a half.This is the ultimate niche market, but if body armor is what you need - talk to Alan. He even dug around for some ForceField stickers for my board.

A very knowledgable and friendly gentleman guided me through the different types of jackets on offer, and I left with the perfect one! If youre after a leather jacket in SanFran, this is the place to go!

Great quality and price with super friendly service

Although I have not purchased their leathers, I am an absolute fan of the shop, their armor, and the owner. Now I am not saying anything bad about their leathers, lets get that straight. I just havent purchased theirs... yet. What I do have is a custom fitted Vanson, and without Johnson Leathers I would not have it anymore. I first replaced all Vansons armor with theirs because Johnson armor is better by far, its not even close. They custom fit their armor into my jacket so it looked perfect, and after 4 years no issues with anything coming lose. Beyond the armor, Johnson has now repaired my Jacket 3-4 times. When the velcro belt and then neck tab wore out, they replaced those with industrial grade material, and kept any new stitches from the outer shell. In each case done on time, and for a great price. 100% rated work, 100% value, and 100% class.

There are only a few places to go in the SF Bay area for alterations on heavy, quality leather garments, especially motorcycle gear. Johnson Leather is the only place in San Francisco. From JL, Ive purchased two superb motorcycle jackets, and a beautiful vintage style flight jacket. Their workmanship is equal or better than Vanson, and the leather quality puts Dainese gear (which costs more) to shame. Had I known years ago what I know now, I would have skipped buying lesser quality gear, that never fit right or never provided real protection, and had Johnson Leather custom tailored a quality, seriously safe, riding jacket and pants. The quality and measured fit is so much better than off the shelf gear, and just a little more, if not equal in cost, especially when compared to ridiculously priced stuff imported from who-knows-where.

The best quality leather and construction. A total win win for the consumer.

Came in for some leather riding gloves but they didnt have much of a selection. May come here again when Im looking for a full set up as it looks like they do a lot of custom work.

Johnsons is a much better west coast version of Vansons Leathers.
