Was only in town for a few hours and in a bit of a rush. They were super accommodating and helpful! Got my boots reconditioned and resoled in less than two hours!! Absolutely great. Hiked in them shortly after and they were better than before.

I dropped off 2 pairs of boots to be stretched, polished and waterproofed. They were supposed to be ready on Friday, I didnt come back until Sunday. I was charged $80 cash. The boots were not stretched, didnt find out until I got home. I had to wait for the polish and I never saw them waterproofed. I just wished they said they forgot instead of just taking my money.

Took a pair of very nice sandals to Franks to have the tongue glued back down and the sole replaced. When I picked them up he had stained the light beige leather dark brown because he thought they were stained from spills. I never asked him to dye the leather and we did not discuss him changing the color of my shoes. When I was upset that he had stained my shoes a new color he said he could strip the dye out. They are now spotted and look horrible.

This place do excellent work the prices are fair and the owner is very nice and will help you with your decision on your repairs.

A year ago I was a senior student at the Academy of Art University. I was studying fashion design and preparing my six piece senior collection.For my very conceptual collection I required some very big shoe’s. Specifically platform shoes. The most economical way to create these specific shoes was to first purchase sneakers and then add a large platform onto them. I needed to work with someone who was able to create and balance shoes properly. So I went to Franks shoe repair.Explaining this crazy idea had not gone well in several other shoe repair stores. But once I explained it to the staff at Franks shoe repair they were very helpful and eager to create what I needed. It took them about a week to finish one pair of shoes. This was a very time-consuming job because each layer of the platform needed to be put on one at a time. In total I needed six pairs of shoes made for six models who were going to walk in my senior collection.So I worked with Franks shoe repair for several weeks dropping in sneakers and then picking up big beautiful platforms. I cannot express how much I appreciated their work and time on this project. As a fashion design student I was happy that my crazy ideas were met with enthusiasm and came to fruition because of Franks shoe repair. I would highly recommend this store to anyone who needs a good shoe repair place.

My girlfriend has used this place a few time so I went in and talked to the head guy, Im gonna call him Frank. I have one pair of lucchese cowboy boots about 5 years old that have been resoled once. They are my everyday beaters and were in bad condition. He told me everything they would do and assured me he would do it right. Im very happy with the results and glad that theyve added many years to the life of these boots.

I called twice about punching belt holes asking many questions and even re-iterating that the belt is expensive. The guy was super nonchalant about the whole thing; didn’t even make measurements. That honestly should have been a red flag and I should just not have proceeded further. I thought he did this a lot which was why he was so indifferent. But I kept saying “it’s expensive; are you sure it’s going to be straight?” he kept saying it’s just a regular belt hole. Well, he just punched it and it came out crooked and misaligned! Ugh. Honestly he should have just said he can’t guarantee the hole will be straight and send me away. I have so much regret. First, I said right away it’s not straight and he denied it saying it’s straight. Then he said it’s a manual punch it will slip a little. Then he said you should take it to the original store. Like what??? He couldn’t just say that BEFORE punching the hole in the belt? I don’t even know how to deal with this. A new belt is $700. I’d advise him to just tell customers with expensive items NOT to punch holes there. I thought I’d try to get this done professionally and instantly regret not just getting it done in the store.

I would choose Franks when you need function over fashion. Ive gone here a few times but this last visit I was pretty unimpressed with the work. I got a new belt shortened and the sticking and glue work was super sloppy. They seem like a popular choice and are always super busy, but I think maybe too busy and rush their work.My friend who has lived here for a few years recommended Galletti so Ill probably take my stuff there next time.

This is a perfect example of a hard-working Craftsman keeping the business going in San Francisco by providing excellent service to everyone. Thats not to say that the owner cant be a little gruff. If youre offended by that, just be prepared and go there anyway. This place has been in business over a hundred years, with just four owners. They know what theyre doing and do it at a fair price.

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Take your business elsewhere. They did a terrible job two times in a row for me. First time I took a pair of suede boots that had a stain on them. I wanted the stain removed. They charged an arm and a leg and did not get the stain out. I ended up getting the stain out at home myself. Figured Id give them another shot given that suede is super tricky to get stains out of. The second time I took 2 pairs of boots and 1 pair of shoes to get fixed. One of the boots had to be completely re-soled, the did ok with that but, did not shine the boots - what the hell?!?. The second pair of boots also did not get a shine. The last pair did not get fixed at all. The shoes had some scratches on them and I wanted them to buff the scratches out - and they simply just did not do it. After he made me go to the ATM and pay him upfront over $180 for 3 pairs of shoes - they could not shine the shoes completely finish the job - I was livid. Avoid going here at all costs.

Frank did a real good job on my 15 year old ecko shoes, (If the brand Ecko is even around anymore!?) Gave me a new rubber sole bottom and brought the color back. He asked how I was doing and is very attentive and acknowledged me, when I came in. Will be back Frank! :-)

He fixed my leather.dneakers WAYYYYY better than new with a vibrant sole and he even oiled and polished the leather free of charge.y shoes were brand new for less than half the price of a new pair. About a month ago I had my cowboy boots given the spa treatment. seemed to be a great job but one of the rubber soles started to seriously detach from my left boot. if i lived in SF i would bring it back, but since i dont i do have to give this just an average score. things were great until now and the job seemed to be good, but i didnt pay $65 for my boots to just have a sole for three more months. if i had paid only $15 i think i would have been fine with this problem .

Went out of my way across town to go here and it was SO worth it! I will be back! This guy turned around a pair of shoes in 24 hours and they look so phenomenal! And he was so, so sweet too. Remembered where I was from and got me quickly out the door with my car double parked outside. Old school service, simply the best. Dropped 3 more pairs of shoes off already!

Amazing service and great prices!! Went in to get a backpack fixed (the zipper was broken and needed to be replaced) and fix the heel on my boots. Daniel was really accommodating when I told him I was leaving the country soon, and was able to finish both repairs in two days! Was really happy with the repair and he even kept the old zipper pull for my backpack so it resembled the original. Wonderful customer service. This is the place to go if you need something fixed. Such an amazing place. I came here to get my girlfriends belt size and I didnt have change for a hundred and the owner was such a awesome person that he just told me to pay him the next time. I went to Franks for the first time to have my favorite pair of boots repaired. The soles needed replacing and they were in desperate need of a shine. I thought a lot of the leather was permanently damaged (they are 6 years old). However, after a few days with Frank I got my boots back and let me say, AMAZING job! The damaged leather was brought back to the original color, the soles look great and the polish he did removed so much dirt that they look new again.Frank owns and runs the shop. The vibe has a lot of classic SF character which is rad. I highly recommend going here if you need some work done on your footwear. This is my new shoe repair spot. Glad I found it!

Took in 3 pairs of brand new sneakers and dress shoes and the work and craftsmanship on the heel plates was solid. They take their time, use a combination of nails and adhesives and understand each pair of shoes and where and how closely to edge they should apply the plate. There is quality, experience, and thoughtfulness there!

Daniel fixed my beloved backpack zipper last minute for me. The people that hang out there are interesting old men (Mario the jazz percussionist, Steve the 37 years married jokester) that have great stories, jokes, and good ears for a weary traveler like me. Five star service from a five star shop, if you want something fixing go to franks, staff are hard working and helpful, found the shop online and it’s easy to get to from fishermen’s wharf take bus 47 or from union square. Took a couple of days to fix the wife’s carry on bag ( they do a lot more than just shoe repair)

Frank helped me out this past weekend. My boots needed re-soled after work on Friday and by Monday they were finished and conditions the leather as well. A spectacular job and expressed timing to help me out in time. Ill be going back when needed.

OVERPRICE. $30 for strengthen the sole of shoes, pretty fast for 15 minutes. However, another shoe repair shop at downtown did the same job later for only $10, for Exactly same service.

The owner is very nice, BUT the repair is completely unacceptable. I chose this place to repair my broken luggage because of the good feedbacks I read on google, but at this end they just put some tapes on the cracks, and the worst thing is that they lasted only for ONE week!!!! this is what you paid nearly 90 dollars for!? Again I DO NOT recommend this place for your luggage repair!

I took a pair dress shoes in for heel and shine. He said the price was $35.00, so when l gave him my credit card for payment and looked at the receipt, the price jumped to $38.33! So l complain, because in California it’s illegal to charge tax on repairs or anything non retail. He said he had to charge tax on all credit card charges because the bank charge high credit card fees. But that’s not my problem, and it’s still illegal, if you cannot afford the bank charges get another bank, do not screw me around, l know the laws in California, and you cannot charge tax on anything just because you feel like it. What a rip off, all credit card holders beware, this man is robbing you. I asked to have my shoes in about three days. He said to call first cause he was extremely busy. I waited five days to call, when they finally answered the phone, I gave him my ticket and waited nearly a half hour for him to tell me, my shoes was not finished, but they would be repaired right away and l could come to pick them up the next day. I go in two days later and my shoes was no where to be found. How can anyone run a business like that? After waiting for what seem like forever, my shoes was discovered under a huge pile of unfinished shoes. This is ridiculous, first he screw me around with my credit card and paying in advance, then he can not find my shoes, and on top of all that, my shoes were not ready! No more and never again, do yourself a favor and stay away from this place, it’s not worth the stress and anguish.

Awesome service. Had a broken zipper on my suitcase and needed it the following day for a flight. Had it repaired quick, on site, for a small fee. And close to my hotel too. Highly recommended.

I never write bad reviews, but I made the biggest mistake of my life taking my $400.00 Prada red Athletic shoes to Franks Shoe Repair to have them resole. After assuring me they would fix my shoes just the way I wanted, They completely ruined my favorite shoes, and not just once, but twice. When I vehemently expressed my displeasure, after seeing the first very sloppy job, the man whom I assume was the owner or manager, told me they had a new guy who was still in training, and did not know what he was doing. But why would you ever allow a flunky to touch my very expensive red Prada shoes? When I saw my shoes the second time, I could not believe, what I was looking at. They put a big thick brown work boot type sole on my sleek athletic shoes. I nearly broke down in tears. The heel and toe showed wide gaps where the original sole would have conformed to the shoe. I was so heart broken, I was just speechless. This place has so much strange unusual activity, with the whole shop looking like an absolute mess, I should have known better, but this time I learned the hard way. Thankfully and with a stroke of divine luck, my shoes was professionally repaired as if they came directly from the factory at a small shop up the street. Franks Shoe Repair will never see me again,

Really bad service. I think I got charged abnormally high price because I handed in some pairs of very expensive shoes(also maybe he thinks I am not local, but oops sorry I live in SF). When I picked up my shoes, he dropped my shoes from top rack to the floor. Afterwards I found some dents on my leather shoe insole. My 800 dollars shoes! OMG. Don’t go there please

I waited at the shop for a 20 minutes or so while someone was working on a stained leather couch cushion I brought in.Every person that walked in the door was treated like family. Very impressed. And I got the cushion back looking brand new. Id go back here any time

Next Level Shoe repair. Took a pain of Lanvin sandals whose straps needed to altered in a complicated way, not only did they take them in perfectly, but they went and bought a special machine just to fix my shoes!!!!! This is the only place I will go now...and I have been to LOTS of cobblers. I would trust them with any shoe.
