Today was not a good day as I was leaving the Club after my workout, I was letting my liquid lipstick dry. I was holding my mask a woman whom Ive never seen before Orders me to put on my mask. It struck me sideways- I pay a lot to go there, I dont appreciate being ordered to do anything. I know masks are extremely important, I resent being Ordered by anyone, treated badly. I told her I d put it on when I was good and ready. Then I put it on at the elevator. She shouted “Thank You” I shouted back go to hell. Now Im a bit embarrassed but she needs to request rather than order. Plus the pool just simply isnt clean enough, there should be no skin scum anywhere but there is and Im continually irritated at this issue. Considering Covid and regular hygiene it should be sparkling clean, its not. It’s all worked out, I apologized for my angry outburst and all is well I love the Club
Beautiful place to work out but be careful not to bring valuables to your locker!
Besides the Kheils products and eucalyptus towels, there’s nothing special about this location. I’ve been to much better & bigger equinoxes the staff are rude and the trainers try too hard to get you to buy a session with them..
They charge $300 per month, but still dont pay their bills. Unethical, cowardly, and undeserving of being in business at all.
It gets the job done, but for the price it is probably the dumbest financial decision, it is similar to a NY Sports club for 10x the price. Id recommend the Sports club equinox version, they have way more amenities!
Upscale club in downtown San Francisco. Pricey but worth it.
The person who answers the phones has a terrible attitude, I was wanting to talk about the promotion going on for past members & he was just incredibly rude & lacked communication skills
The only gym Ive joined thats been able to keep me coming back/ stick with the habit of working out.Awesome facilities, incredible equipment, clean... depending on the time of day, reasonably spacious. The classes are good and their personal trainers will work with you to make fitness a habit....its just pricey...
Poor management. They froze my membership due of covid. After few months i decided to cancel. They would not give me a refund for the unused days. I called hq and they gave me a full refund.Poor management. Rips people off. Bad business
I have never been more disappointed in a facility in my 65 years of life. I was a regular at the spa, spent a lot of money there and, unfortunately, bought work-out pants from the retail outlet. Upon washing them, the elastic in the waist band turned and could not be straightened out. I took them back and was told by the retail manager, Alex, It is your fault. You put them in a too hot dryer! I dont dry my work-out clothes in the dryer and I will never spend one more dime at Equinox. I am a Four Seasons regular, having stayed with them many, many times both in SF and on Maui. NO MORE! Thank you for your excellent customer service Alex! Mark Backer
My favorite location in the city. Actually it’s the only one that feels worth the asking price, maybe San Mateo location as well. It can be crowded at peak hours, especially Mondays. The facility is clean, lots of equipment too. I love the pool, which generally does not have a wait and lifeguards tend to be better about managing the queue there. The gym is not clear about 30 min lane limit if there are folks waiting. That would be useful to post, because when a lifeguard is missing members take advantage of that and monopolize lanes. I don’t like that staff seems to toss lost and found items before placing them in the lost and found bin. I’ve seen them do it with other people’s stuff and when I lost my stuff I was told someone stole it. It seems unlikely that some dude would steal $20 Speedos if they can afford a $250 gym, but OK. Lastly, it would be good to have staff do more to manage squatters who are texting instead of working out. It’s an issue at every gym but it does seem to me that a high end gym could manage member behavior a little better to make the monthly fee palatable.
This sports club is amazing and well worth the high price. No comparison to 24 hour fitness, which I used to belong to. If you like a variety of workout classes offered at any time of the day and evening, this is the place for you. I go to the gym almost everyday now because Equinox makes it a fun experience that can be both vigorous and relaxing. Especially love the Cycle Beats and yoga classes offered here. The trainers are awesome. This gym is clean and doesnt even smell like sweat! Showers, steam room and sauna also make it feel like spa experience after your workout. Highly recommend!
TL;DR: If you can avoid peak bro-hour, youre onto a winner; albeit at a price.Expensive but excellent. That is to say, compared with the majority of SF gyms, Equinox is a diamond in the rough.Equinox SF is well equipped, and needs to be to accommodate bro hour 6-7pm Monday and Tuesday. If youre unlucky enough to need peak workouts, prepare for curiously desperate displays of masculinity. If youre able to avoid peak hours however, nothing holds a candle to this Equinox. The staff are pleasant and attentive, locker rooms cleaned regularly and the whole operation is well run. The equipment is clean, modern and well maintained. The trainers appear friendly and discreet, though I havent used one. The range of machines, availability of squat racks and overall kit levels are excellent.
Poor leadership at the top. Supporting 45 by donating millions. Nope.
I love this place. The classes are amazing and there are multiple per hour, so I can jump in anytime, even if my train is late. The staff is timely and knowledgeable. Im not afraid to ask for help here, which happens often because they have some of the newest equipment known to the fitness community.I hope to continue my fitness habit here :)
Member from the Vancouver location, I’ve been to quite a few equinox clubs across US and Canada and I am super stoked that this one will be my home location soon! The pool is spacious (more so than the Golden mile location in chicago), and the facility even more so! Love the support staff and the steam room is amazing.Great protein smoothie bar on location as well although I wish the protein content would be higher..Overall, solid gym and worth the high cost
Really upscale gym i feel like lunch time (11:30-2pm) is the best time to go
I have been going to crunch gymn for 5 yrs so far no complaints. Recently I took interest in their classes and I love Tashas belly, butt and thigh class she is awesome your moneys worth. I love, love, love it.
For the amenities this is worth the price, however you are best off if you can find off hours. Around peak time there is generally a wait for equipment and for showers.Steam room, sauna, pool, chilled towels, and a good selection of machines and free weights.
Ive never been a gym person but Equinox is turning me. The classes are awesome, the facilities/equipment are well kept, and the smoothies are delicious. All of the staff Ive encountered thus far have been pleasant and helpful, as have the other patrons. This place has exceeded my expectations.
There is a very very rude staff.he gave me too bad experience.I am Asian. I was racist here.I went to gym for register. I asked about the fee, but he did not answer to me and he just talked to me to check it on homepage. The staff was very rude and I asked him to let me know the price because it was difficult to find the fee on the homepage, but he ignored me and did not let me know the price. When I asked him why you didnt tell me the price. finally, he answer to me the fee.really strange and crazy guy..
I love this gym. I like the majority of the classes, the facility is gorgeous, there is always a machine available if I feel for it. There is a feel of luxury that I very much appreciate. Keihl’s in the restrooms and mouthwash, etc. I like it a lot.
Service is GREAT! Food is healthy but FLAVORLESS... It took 25 minutes to get my order. I only eat here for convenience after a workout. I wouldnt go out of my way to come here on an off workout day.
Ive been a member here for over 2 years, seeing it through its transition to equinox. Honestly, Im not quite sure you can find a better gym experience anywhere else. The reason I love it is just the amount of space...sure it can get a little crowded during rush hour, but what gym doesnt? I had to wait for a LOCKER once at 24 hour fitness and that was the last time I went there. Steam room, sauna, pool, classes and LOTS OF SPACE!!! Just get a tour and see for yourself.
By a very long distance the best sports club in San Francisco. Two floors of gym equipment means you never wait for a machine. The saline pool is the only indoor 25m pool Ive found in San Francisco. As you would expect, you pay for it. And if you want spa treatments or personal trainers, you keep paying. That said, if you have the means, then this place will help with the motivation.
Perpetually undergoing renovations, which are poorly communicated. Staff are enthusiastic but dont know very basic things about the club. Beware: their staff appreciation events lead to early weekend closures. Aggressive, bro-ish management who are quick to tell you how smart they are even as they cant explain why they misplaced the contents of your rented locker (true story). Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Do not reward the contempt they show for their customers.
I used to love the club before Equinox took over. As others have said, membership sales focus has caused overcrowding. The need to stop selling new memberships until construction has been completed. This is an update, the overcrowding is getting worse than ever! I pay a super premium rate for executive locker room and find nothing premium about the way complaints are treated> My locker room will be closed in May for construction and we have not seen any plan to maintain our amenities during the construction period. Waiting for a response...
Use to like it there, then they remove one of the classes I liked the most, wrote an email about it. They told me it will eventually come back, never did. And now they reduce the time of 2 of my other classes, probably to pay less the instructors? Wrote an email to the general manager, no answer this time. Anyway, Im stuck in my contract for another few months, will not renew obviously.
Dont do it. Its a nice gym but the experience isnt worth the high price. Its aways crowded. Waiting for a shower is common. Front desk and maintenance staff are excellent but management and membership sales reps are worthless and never available at the club and slow, if ever to reply to email or phone.
I was a member for years, since it was Sports Club LA, before finally being driven away by the latest (substantial) fee increase and the ever-more-crowded conditions.Equinox continued charging after what should have been the effective date of my cancellation, following the 30-day notice process they told me. The general manager, Colleen Harnett, offers me only a partial refund of what I was overcharged, as a courtesy.
Very friendly staff and tons of equipment. Ive been to the La sport club branch in New York city and I definitely think this location is better. Its extremely centrally located and they even have a boxing studio. Beautiful locker rooms.
Currently undergoing some construction, but still accessible. Convenient location for those working downtown near Market Street.
Pricey, but its a really nice and clean gym. Gym is really made for private training, so prepared to get upselled.
Totally agree with the review underneath me. Way too over crowded now for ridiculous membership prices!!!! This is supposed to be top of the line and theyre (new management) are treating it so basic. Trying to sign the whole city up for revenue but have no room to put these people lol its ridiculous!!!!
Joined after our office relocated to SF. Its better than most gyms in downtown SF but honestly the standard in SF is very low. It is not worth $185+The gym is very crowded during peak hours, many classes are full, antiquated locker locks are frequently broken, and rates that are 5x higher than I paid elsewhere are a major con. The machines are rarely broken but if they are then it takes ages for them to be repaired.I was also not able to get the promised free training session to an unresponsive trainer and did not bother to try scheduling the promised free Pilates session after that.
👎👎👎 Be careful what you sign up for. Ive been a member for over a year. Once you give them your credit card, theyll keep milking it for as long as they can. Ask them explicitly about hidden fees, membership minimum requirements, and cancellation policy. Theres a lot of stuff in the terms & conditions, stuff that youre not gonna like. Its overcrowded and simply not worth the money. I would not recommend it to friends. 🏋️🙅♀️🙅♂️
Gym floor is a bit messy as people do not put equipment back nor is the staff cleaning up the equipment area.Smoothy bar is extremely slow, took over 20 min for them to make my smoothy.Berkeley Equinox is hands down much cleaners and better staff
Beware!! The club has experienced significant problems over the past month or two!! Ive been a member for nearly a year and have really enjoyed it. Its a great space - great people - good equipment - not too crowded - etc. Its a VERY nice gym.Equinox recently assumed ownership and since the transfer we have experienced NUMEROUS problems - including a total loss of water (for showers etc) as well as a loss of hot water on more than one occasion. The gym is WAAAAY to expensive for members be dealing with these issues repeatedly and for extended duration.Perhaps these are just transition issues but if you are considering joining ... you should think twice and ask hard questions about how the gym will be maintained in the future. Not off to a good start!!
Very clean, plenty of space, nice amenities, friendly staff, and nice equipment.
Was waiting for a friend. Asked to use a restroom. Requires a guest pass 🤷🏻♂️
Scam!!! I cancelled my membership 3 times by mail and by phone (twice) and they keep charging my credit card. Once you give them your credit card youll get charged for the rest of your lifeI dont know what to do at this point. I just keep posting this to all equinox locations
Unbelievably awful customer experience. Stuck in a 12 month contract with no out - would t mind if the gym was not so CROWDED you couldnt actually work out during peak hours. The $185 fee is a total rip off. Someone should take them to small claims court for bait and switching the general public. One of the worst gym experiences Ive ever had.
Illicit Charges: charged for PT sessions that did not take place, manager in charge of that was being trained how to use computer by front desk people; have to take time off work to handle simple accounting issues, took a week to resolve by proactive PT; Also missing equipment (e.g. ropes) and renovations, no accommodations for this, just pay more for less.
Closed for some cycle event the last 4 days. Good thing they put nonmembers ahead of members there, great business model
Since the MBA by Equinox there has been a lot of turn over w/ the trainers and instructors. Although the bathroom products has gotten better the gym is now really crowded, there hasnt been any true improvements with the infrastructure, and the public restaurant and bar (which were staples) are now reserved for private functions.
MICHAEL ROGERS so rude . This stuff so proud talk with the customer look like customers not have money what kind of customer service is that . I’m just calling to check the price they ask do you want to join now do you want to join now . really weird
Trainers are great. Front desk people are rude. Its not in the greatest shape.
Since Equinox took over, membership is the game. Always crowded. Always under construction with something out of order or temporarily shuttered. Emphasis is on glitz, not community.
It’s great, but pricey and crowded
Cons:Used to enjoy working out with shoes off in order to work out my stabalizer muscles in my feet. They then implemented a new policy which requires shoes on at all times. I would expect such pedantic rules at 24 fitness.Managment here is very unfriendly and sometimes even hostile, horrible!Overpriced spa/massages ($150+ seriously?)Suprisingly few squat racks for such a big gymVery bad hours on weekends - opens too latePros:Lots of open space.Underground bicycle parking.Earth bar has high quality healthy snacks that are resonably priced.Friendly and helpful check-in and locker room staff
Easily justifiable. Clean environment and only 5 min walk from work.
Be carefull about joining before the renovation is complete. It has been going on for over a year and its been very very slow. The pool is closed for over 2 months and other major annoyances are very common.
Used to work out at SportsLA(prior to M/A). my second favorite facility (next to bay club) in the city.
I pay over $200/month for an All Access membership in NY. Yet when I showed up here after finding it listed on their app, I was turned away for not having the right membership, told I could pay $35 to work out once. Either they dont know what All means, or they deliberately mislead people. Stay away.
The best in sf.
Nice sales! Very friendly.
Place fell apart once Equinox took over. Long lines, crowded locker rooms, sea of trainers cramping the floor space. 👎
Crowded, expensive, impossible to cancel - will never pay for equinox again
Terribly overcrowded, and renovated for the worse. This place is no longer good. Go with 24 or Crunch.
Ugly, gross, filthy, and just plain dirty inside and way to expensive for what you get lolThe male members are creepers that wont leave you alone and there just plain nastyI cant wait for a Life Time Athletic with there excellent facilities to open in San Francisco . I would switch so fast, the wind from my motion would knock this crap hole down .
Get off my map
Way too crowded for the cost
Pick any other gym
Expensive and crowded.
Great facilities
Smug and pretentious!
Not so much.
Excellent
Excellent.
A really comfortable and modern place
Super nice is super nice place and very tidy
