The location was perfect! The hotel was beautiful! There’s a secure parking spot for your car. The beds were beyond comfortable. The bathroom and shower were generous and the towels were thick and comfy. The toiletries were luxurious. The staff were very kind and helpful in suggestions for restaurants and places to see in San Fransisco. We would definitely stay again in this lovely mansion. We knew there were lots of choices of places to stay in San Fransisco. Our trip was better because we chose The Mansion on Sutter. You should stay there too. You won’t be disappointed!

Beautiful historic building! We loved our weekend getaway here. The Corner Suite is lovely - clean, very comfortable and spacious. From checkin to checkout the staff was very welcoming and gracious. FYI we picked this over the Ritz and the takeaway is the hotel itself is unique and charming and we are happy with the choice. The location didn’t offer much in terms of views, but is central enough to many attractions. Highly recommend staying here.

Let me be succinct. If what you want is something familiar like the Marriott don’t come here. If what you want is easy don’t come here. That said if what you want is to plug in to the main frame of humanity and be loved and cared for in the process then you will discover as I have. That mansion on sutter is portal to everything that you never had. Oh and if you see an elegant English man plying the piano forte. That’s me. Your excellency is welcome by this wonderful staff. My curiosity is who established this magic and can they continue forever? Mansion on Sutter is sublime in every respect. A

I stayed in the Juliet Room (room 203) for a pre-Thanksgiving engagement celebration. The room was beautiful and very clean and large! Noting the engagement celebration, management went out of their way to decorate the room with roses not only in the living room, but also in the bathroom as well. In addition, they included a bottle of sparkling rose (from the Organic Coquelicot Estate Winery - delicious!!) and a tasty cupcake as well. The team at Mansion on Sutter really went above and beyond. Kudos to your team!I would not hesitate to stay here and look forward to a future visit.

This is a fabulous hotel! Come here to feel completely pampered, and wonderfully surrounded by architecture, decor, and artwork from the1880s. Kudos to the owners for a phenomenal renovation! Stay here for the luxury but also for the authentic historical experience perfect in San Francisco! We always love to walk around when we visit the city and to explore a bit and we found the neighborhood totally safe. I look forward to staying longer next time and experiencing dinner at their delicious restaurant!

Mansion on Sutter exceeded all expectations. A beautifully restored Victorian mansion adorned with fine art pieces throughout the hotel. Mansion on Sutter is a beautiful house with wonderful staff. Staying here makes you feel like your staying at your best friends house, and that beat friend happens to own a mansion. If you want a cup of coffee, a good talk or a game of chess you are always welcome to go down to the lobby. I spend many hours talking to one of the brilliant hostesses Fah, she made me feel so at home. I cant wait to go back here next time I have a chance.

Hotel is visually stunning with an ornate Victorian style. We stayed in the Juliet room which was spacious and immaculately clean. But beyond the hotel itself, the staff is what makes this stay incredible. We ran into an issue at the end of our trip and the hotel staff went above and beyond to accommodate our every need. Highly recommend!

I wouldn’t call this a hotel, I would call it a home. I travel every week and am use to the Marriott. At those hotels the staff are friendly, but at the Mansion at Sutter, the staff are family. I had one of the worst days of my life at work, and didn’t want to talk to anyone. When I came back home I was so depressed. As I walked through the lobby Fah saw me and asked me how my day was as she was serving another guest at the bar. I kinda said hello and brushed it off. She saw something was up and told me to come over. I didn’t know she even knew my name. We talked for a while in what ended up being one of the most meaningful conversations of my life. Just know that when you stay at the Mansion on Sutter, you are family.

This place is fantastic! The building is phenomenal example of old world opulence. The staff was extremely nice. Unlike most hotels that nickle and dime you, this one has a lot of free perks (breakfast, in room whiskey, water, etc..). A bit pricey but actually still a fair value for SF

This boutique hotel is just AMAZING! We had the best time in the suite and the staff has been the best! Taking care of us like we were family! Words cannot express our gratitude to everyone who made our stay there one of the best we had abroad! The breakfast was delicious and the chef had some special treats made for our 2 years old! The location is great, the building itself is worth the visit as it was built in 1881 and survived the San Franciscos fire. The rooms and the common spaces have been decorated with great taste ! I can only recommend this fabulous place! The pictures peaks for themselves

Staff was very personable and helpful. And the concierge spoke French, which my husband and I greatly appreciated as we were very tired. All the staff we met were completely focused on our experience. Breakfast — coffee and scones and everything else — was exceptional. In fact I’ve never had a better scone or cafe au lait. This place is worth every penny.

My wife and I had such an amazing stay, and we could not have been more impressed with the quality of the service, attention to fine details, and honestly the price! This place is beyond nice for the rate. The complementary breakfast was astounding and would rival that of the Bali St Regis. The decor is masterful and rivals that of the Hotel Plaza Athenee. The price rivals that of the Hilton! The location is prime and central to the lively parts of town. We absolutely will return to the city by the bay, and will absolutely only ever stay at the Mansion on Sutter!

I booked months in advance for my. We were flying in from San Diego and I even called ahead to let them know we were celebrating a special occasion. I had read all the reviews about the amazing service so was surprised/disappointed that the people working at the Mansion admitted that they had only been working there a month and knew nothing about the art or the history of the mansion. The main person at the front said they were going through renovations and that he recommended that it come back another time. We also mentioned that the bathroom in our room made loud noises and it never got fixed (although my husband kept trying to fix it throughout our stay). I really wanted to love our stay but they need better people during ‘off season.’ Also- no Voss or Waiwera water which was advertised.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at The Mansion on Sutter. We were delighted with every aspect. The service is top notch. We were greeted at the curb when we pulled up and our bags carried in. We were offered reception drinks. We were given a beautiful tour. People were dining in the restaurant and enjoying drinks in the bar. Nice to arrive to some liveliness. The Mansion is absolutely stunning inside and out. If you ever wanted to get a look inside one of the legendary San Francisco mansions of the Victorian era this is your chance. Our room was the Bay Suite. Stocked with complimentary large Voss water bottles, a bottle of wine from the proprietors’ own vineyard, a generous bowl of fresh fruit, and chocolates. They were able to restore the fireplace in our suite so enjoyed a warm fire on a cool SF night. We had all the modern conveniences in this beautiful restored grand home. It was impressively adorned with the owners’ own personal art collection. No detail was missed in aesthetics or service. The bartender was charming. The breakfast room was filled with filtered morning light through the sheer drapes hung in front of the nearly floor to ceiling windows. Breakfast was complimentary and delicious. I had a truffle and goat cheese omelette with delicious lemony avocado toast. No need for lunch that day. We were also brought up coffee to enjoy in the beautiful corner/bay window sitting area.We departed with a to go bag of 2 more large Voss water bottles and seasoned nuts.We would love to return on our next stay in the city. The price for our room was comparable to other hotels, but the beauty, space, and service far exceeded what we would have received somewhere else.It also has a very convenient location. We used to live in the city so enjoyed staying farther away from the hustle and bustle of Union Square and closer to the residential areas. They do have valet parking for $65/night. We did opt for that but you may also find street parking. It was convenient for them to quickly bring us our car with just a phone call.I cannot rave enough about the Mansion.

I was invited to an elegant dinner last Saturday, December 1,2018 to The Mansion in San Francisco on Sutter Street. My friend, their IT technician (Kenny), was a part of the crew that was rewarded with inviting their friends and family to the grand opening. My husband and I were privileged to be invited and we were in the company of him and his wife and some of his relatives. First thing that impressed me was the friendliness of the staff. Everyone smiled and warmly greeted us, from the busser to management, making us feel very welcome. The high character of the staff are noticeable and appreciated. General Manager, Pierre–checked in with us a couple of times during our dinner, rolled with the Kennys (IT tech) jokes, and to make sure we are happy. Kenn, the Restaurant Manager – was very friendly and showed an interest in us. He told us a little about himself. Ask him about Alaska. Tomas- Our friendly server, spoke with confidence, answered questions and accommodated our needs. Now, for the food. My taste buds thank the Chef, John. First course, I enjoyed House Cured Wild Trout Quince, Pomegranates, Asian Pears, Apple Mustard Puree presented under glass with smoke.. Delicious and impressive. Second course, I highly recommend, Aged Wagyu Ribeye, Smoked Garlic Puree, Jardiniere, Pearl onions seasoned with smoked Expresso Salt. I closed my eyes and just enjoyed the moments. Later, I then tried a desert I have never tasted and was pleased, Miso Peanut Parfait Peanut butter, huckleberry Gelee, peanut brittle, Brulee Shortbread… very delicious. Since I am not a food critic, I really don’t have the words to describe the delicious, elegant and just beautiful presentations of all the meals. John humbly asked for our opinion of our entrees and took note of the feedback . I had no complaints and no advice. I was happy and full. Thumbs up for Francisco, he was on top of his job, clearing the table and resetting it for each course. I loved how the team worked together. After our meal, we toured the place. Our hostess, Nagama was very knowledgeable, friendly and took us through the rest of the restaurant as well as the finished guest rooms upstairs. They were warm, charming and elegantly decorated. There is a creative compliment of the old and new there. The restoration of the elegant woodwork, wall finishes and flooring would make the original builder proud. The lighting was just beautiful and highlighted the beauty of each room. I love this place and hope to be able to visit it and celebrate a special occasion there to make it a day and night to remember.

There is no doubt this is a stunning hotel. From the location, where we felt very safe after staying in another part of the city, to the décor it was such a unique experience. We loved the facts we looked up about the individual rooms and hotel overall. It was disappointing that the restaurant was not open due to COVID, but I appreciated their consciousness of the safety of their workers and guests. I rate our experience as good for a few reasons. The first was the concierge who was seemingly the night shift worker. We arrived later than expected our first night as we had gotten caught up before heading to the hotel. She made a rude comment about us not being on time for check-in. If this was a problem we would have appreciated a call asking when we would be arriving. Our assumption was that any time would be fine. We blew that off as we were then upgraded to a nicer room which we much appreciated. Once entering the room we did notice the wear and tear on the walls around the room. There were many scuffs and dents on the walls from furniture, suitcases, etc. It took away from the luxurious feel of the hotel and room. Throughout our stay, the same concierge was not very warm or welcoming. She also walked around the hotel without a mask on despite the numerous signs stating masks were required regardless of vaccine status. Finally, when asked if we would like house keeping to visit our room we said no because of COVID. When we returned to our room from our day in the city, we found it had been serviced. Any other time this would have been amazing, but since we had specifically asked not to have house keeping visit we were again a bit uncomfortable. Overall, I would return to the hotel again but would hope for better interactions with the hotel staff.
