I love Hairspray Salon, it’s so fun and full of life! Over the years, Shanna has always been able to bring my bajillion various requests for pink and platinum hair to life. Plus there may be a glass of champagne involved, can’t beat that!

I was greeted in a timely manner, and made completely comfortable by everyone in the shop. My hair colorist, Austin Arenz was professional, very knowledgeable about hair styles and coloring and offered me guidence for what I was looking for with long hair. She listened, offered suggestions and the outcome was fabulous! I have suggested Austin to others as well as Hairspray Salon.

I had my hair cut by Austin.She is hands down the best hair cutting experience Ive ever had. She flawlessly gave me my Mohawk I wanted in a style that complimented my head shape. Austin does phenomenal work! She was the first person I came to when I moved to San Diego and I’m so grateful to have her as my stylist. She made my over-processed, cheap hair dyed hair look amazing. We are in the process of going lavender from black/green and shes made it a very manageable & good looking transition which very hard to do. Her hairdresser/barber skills are out of this world!!

Booom! fresh clean fade, thanks Austin! I had the pleasure of getting a haircut from this amazing stylist. I was recommend by a friend and wow I really did not expect my haircut to be as clean and crisp. First of all lets start with how Austin presented herself. She began by offering a nice cool refreshments which at the time I wasnt sure if was at an extra charge but it was all complimentary. Refreshments?? Really why not I said to my self. Wow the ambient of her little section was so cool with a very artistic and mesmerizing displays. Not sure how many are fans of Tim Burton but I definitely felt like I was being infused into another world. Typical issues I have when I get a fade with other barbers is the fade itself is not fully fade and the lines are some what visible. Austin went far and beyond! Im telling you her fade was just seamless really really satisfied! Im not typically a person that leaves reviews often but this one is a must. The only downside is that she stays really busy with business so booking is key! Again Thanks Austin looking forward for future business.

Trying out this salon was a great experience for me. I had an appointment with Austin, a truly exceptional barber with an extensive resume behind her, and I can’t wait to be back. She has the magical ability to take whatever is in your head and turn it into a masterpiece. She is also incredibly kind and communicative, which is extremely important to me. Lauren has been doing my hair for a little over 8 years now and living in a different state hasn’t even stopped me from going to see her! I really appreciate the time she takes to explain what she’s doing and how long the process will take. Sometimes I’ll come to her with inspiration photos and other times I’ll tell her to let her artistic side run wild. Either way, she always delivers a dreamy end result!

Austin is my barber and is, in two words, TOTALLY AWESOME! I’m a bit older than her other clients, and so present different issues to a Barber (what hair I have left is sparsely distributed and not evenly spaced). She always makes me look dashing and more attractive than when I came in…. Her demeanor is both pleasant and a little impish, and I thoroughly enjoy going to see her. In short, she’s everything one would want in a Barber, and so much more!

Austin is my absolute favorite hair stylist. She is super professional while also making you feel like you’re getting your hair done by your best friend. She’s incredibly knowledgeable—found out she teaches and also was snatched up by a company to cut hair for famous musicians on tour (pretty cool if you ask me). I love knowing I’m leaving her chair looking 10x better than when I came in. She knows what I want/need better than I do!

I have never trusted someone with my hair like I have Austin. When I say trust her with my hair I truly mean it. In the past I have had other hair artists that promise quality but don’t deliver. Austin is attentive and open to her clients ideas. Austin makes you feel at home In her chair. Almost like an escape from the world, for the hour you’re there. She has always been open to my crazy hair colors and exceeded expectations. She didn’t bat an eye when I asked for a spider web shaved into my undercut. Even when I wanted 5 different colors in my hair, and needed a color correction. A truly talented barber and hair specialist. I stand by her. Quality over quantity. Honestly, I won’t go to anyone else. She’s that good, and that real.

Its been several years since Ive had my hair professionally cut so I was quite nervous leading up to my appointment. I expressed my concerns and Austin was absolutely wonderful! I came to her with what I knew would be a pretty big project, I have coarse dark hair and of course I wanted it as white as possible. She has consistently gotten it lighter with each visit while managing my expectations and never letting me leave with hair Im not into. We’re maybe a shade away from the goal and I’m already obsessed!

I have been going to Austin for about a 2-3 years now. If you knew me you would be surprised someone else other than myself touches my hair. Ive been doing it since I was 14 and usually dont want anyone else to do it. When I had Austin do my hair for the first time, I knew I had met my person. She knows EXACTLY what I want even when I dont. She also can do it all too.... Short hair, long hair, colored, normal. If you need to get your hair done buzzed or just a trim, she is your girl.

It’s so fun sitting in Honey’s chair. She is amazing at vibrant colors and is willing to experiment with different color combos. I enjoy the conversation and the atmosphere.

Tyler is the best stylist around! Not only is he great at cutting, coloring, and styling, but he’s also a fun guy to hang out with, which is exactly what you want if you’re in one of those extended sessions. Once you get Tyler, you’ll never want another styler 😉

Hannah was great about offering to put on a mask when I asked her about it. She was professional, friendly and welcoming. We had a plan to do colors with silver, pink and blue and I asked her if we could do everything along with a trim for $175. She said it wouldnt be more than about $100. I asked if we could change it and do silver and rainbow colors and if that would cost extra and she said no, it wouldntcost extra. She did a good job with all the colors but she also added gray at my roots which I didnt understand why because in the end, it made it look like my black rots were growing out. Not what anyone would want with a full color job. She also said she would give me free shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. Overall, she did a pretty good job but then charged me $200 without explaining why it was double $100. I would have been fine with $175 plus an explanation of the colors being more costly but she didnt say anything and just charged my card without even giving me a total. I would still recommend her though but I will probably personally find a friend to color my hair in the future.

I got my hair cut by Lauren & she was the sweetest & made me feel so comfortable (I have ~hair anxiety~ lol). She was so attentive to what I wanted & I loved my hair right after (usually I hate it until at least a week later)!! I Can’t recommend her enough- Amazing, Clean, Attentive & high quality!!

Peter Ambrose colored and cut my hair today. He does an amazing job with color. The color is exactly what I described to him. Peter has been cutting my hair for about 2 years. When I started with him my cut looked terrible, flat and impossible to style. He has fixed the cut so I now never have a bad hair day. I highly recommend Peter Ambrose at Hairspray.

Nohemy was absolutely amazing! I have been coloring my hair pretty dark for a few years and have recently been wanting to go really light. I stripped the color myself and got it to a light copper red, waited about a week and randomly searched on Groupon for a highlight deal and found Hairspray salon. I called and Nohemy was able to see me an hour and a half later. We chatted about how I wanted to go lighter and the cut I wanted and she walked me through every step of what she thought would be best for my hair which is pretty long and thick. She thought it would be better to do a balayage instead to get me a lot lighter. It worked!!! I have been wanting to go blond for 3 years and she is the first stylist that helped me get there!!! I will never see anyone else for my hair needs!! She got me super light, my haircut is AMAZING and she even taught me how to use a curling iron!! Thank you so much Nohemy!!

Only snob free part is Michael the receptionist. The salon opens at 930 but no hair stylist until 10am. You are lucky if nail specialist is there one day. I needed consultation for partial highlights and Michael was so sweet saying that hair stylist was parking her car after 10 am. So I chatted with Michael showing pictures of what I wanted then 10 minutes later, the stylist comes in, ignores me, scolds Michael in front of me for letting her know that I needed a consultant and then she rushed away in a huff. Alrighty! I waiting another ten minutes and finally decided to eat instead and check out another place. Snob free salon my ass!! The only non snob was the receptionist. They are lucky to have him. Plus if a salon is too open with schedule then there is a problem.
