The HR tax consultant Scottie was overwhelmed with work. I was assigned to her when my original scheduled consultant went home sick. Scottie didnt want me in her cubicle even though there were less than 6 people in the office and max is 8. Each time I asked for clarification Scottie was clearly frustrated with my questions. She would sigh, stare at me with an incredulous upset look about and clearly annoyed at my questions. My questions were not personal but rather inquiry about what certain figures represented. I had that right to inquire since they were related to my income taxes.

The worst. Didnt let me know about all the extra fees for different forms until Id been there two hours. A lot of that two hours was the guy trying to figure out how to read the tax statement from my stock brokerage, which didnt inspire confidence. They said itd still be a $75 consultation fee if I decided not to do my taxes with them, so I left my documents as a drop off and went home.They still had only given me a vague idea of what it would cost, though, so I tried to look up a price chart on their website after the visit to figure out what the full price would be. But the website didnt have the chart, only a post about how they are making efforts to be more transparent with their pricing.I called the office to ask them to send the prices to me maybe in an email, and they said that wasnt allowed, and Id have to come in again. So much for transparency. Finally went in and had someone go over the prices with me, which was when I figured out it was gonna cost about $478 or possibly more, because they add $10 for every certain thing they have to do, and they werent sure if theyd have to do that certain thing or how many times. I still dont really understand the system or what it all meant.I decided to ask for my documents back so I could use TurboTax instead, but they couldnt find my paperwork for a while, so I was afraid for a second that they had lost it. They ended up finding everything, though, and I paid the $75 consultation fee and left. So basically I just gave them $75 for no service at all, except for them to lead me on a wild goose chase over prices. An upsetting visit.

I came in as a walk in. I had no appointment, and expected the place to be packed and at least a wait time of an hour or more. But I waited maybe four minutes until Shannon called me back. She was very informative, detailed, and thorough and made sure her work was accurate. The best experience I have had with H&R. Hands down!!

Our tax preparer was absolutely terrific. Knowlegable, PATIENT, coscientious in the extreme.

The service was easy and convenient, but the price was pretty big. If it wasnt for a $25 dollar off coupon, the price for myself, my wife and our child the service would have been less than $50 than a CPA.

The only reason I went to h&r block was to get an advance on my refund I spent $150 on my taxes for the advance only to be denied the advance and that was only explained that there be a possibility of denial at the end but it was a small possibility and I got denied in the end
