My teenage son had a telephone Intake person evaluate him. She had NO education at all. She was asking my son very personal questions. She had no knowledge of medical terminology and was asking him what these basic medical terms were. She was a complete AIRHEAD.... They (Rogers Psychiatry Team ) based my sons placement off of her assessment. I asked to speak with a Psychiatrist but thy made excuses like There are no Psychiatrists available at this time or at this location There is NO way I would send my precious child here! I think they are just after your insurances money.
I had high expectations for Rogers Behavioral Health but was quickly disappointed and departed after the second day. I spent most of my time sitting alone in a windowless room…which was the schedule for the entire first week. My “therapist” Sophie was condescending, snarky, rude, and seemed to have no qualifications as a therapist. I tried to contact both the Director of Operations, Tami Steiner, and the RogersBH marketing department to express my concerns and heard nothing back from either. I also tried to contact the psychiatrist at the San Diego location, but was told that I may not speak to him.
Rogers Behavioral Health deserves a much better review than what is given here. Ive been thinking about the negative reviews for weeks now and it made me so sad that I had to write a positive review myself. I am currently a patient here in their OCD & Anxiety Partial Hospitalization Program and I have received nothing short of excellent care here. The staff are highly trained and compassionate in treating OCD, which is a debilitating, highly painful disorder. Be warned (in a good way), though: in order to get better, you MUST WORK HARD. The staff may ask you to do things you find bizarre. Ultimately, you are the director of your treatment and if you find a particular assignment unacceptable to you, speak up, but as a general rule of thumb say yes to what the staff ask of you and do the hard work. Exposure and response prevention (ERP) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) are highly effective treatments for OCD, and when approached appropriately along with medication in those situations that need it, they work in the majority of cases. The scientific evidence shows it; its why its called an evidence-based treatment. Its very worth noting that (a) Rogers takes most insurances and (b) Rogers has a foundation that can assist with the financial cost of treatment. But please show the staff that you are willing to work hard. Youll have a better chance of getting your entire stay covered by insurance this way. Overall, as a fellow OCD sufferer who has spent a total of several months in Rogers programs, I highly recommend Rogers. I know it is scary beyond words to face treatment for OCD, but it does get better, even if it initially feels worse for a while. Hold onto hope and put in the hard work.
I was in their adolescent program about a year ago. I’m currently still working on the trauma this place has left me. The things they asked us to do were dehumanizing. They made one kid stick his hand in the toilet and immediately eat a cookie. I think they had good intentions and I feel guilty that I wasn’t strong enough to finish the program. But they seriously need to trauma train their employees considering the stressful nature of exposure therapy. I also feel like my concerns were not heard. I actively expressed my fear of the stress bringing back my depression and no one took me seriously until I became near catatonic. I wish I could give more specifics but I’m still processing my three weeks there. Maybe I was just too sensitive but I sincerely hope no one else has to go through what I did.
Our child was being seen by the Rogers behavioral health in Rancho Bernardo. Their approach is more on the medicated side, prescribing pills before getting an understanding of the childs situation. Their staff appears to be lacking experience, which is probably why they opt for handing out pills, hoping that will do the trick. There is more to this story that I am happy to share, feel free to write me at [email protected] Your child is already having a tough time, dont make it worst by placing them here. .
1-2 good staff members. I would not recommend this facility as a whole. I was treated very poorly over the course of my 3 weeks there, by both peers and staff. Staff thought it was appropriate to threaten me in a “joking” way, accuse me of being racist for no reasons given, misdiagnose me because I complained about being treated badly, etc. Being the first male patient there, I would say this facility is geared more towards females. They deserve one star but they got two because of one good staff member who made a positive impact.
Rogers Behavioral Health in San Diego deserves to be more popular. For years I struggled with an inability to find quality CBT, ERP and ocd therapy on the west coast. I reccomend rogers behaviorial in every area.I had an understanding of ERP prior to treatment, which made the process more understandable. Extremely, extremely greatful for this experience. there are no bad staff members. at all. There is no one here that does not want you to get better.
