The instructors are the absolute wonderful! I’ve tried a couple of karate schools for my son and this one was truly the BEST!!!
Do not listen to these reviews. They reward people who write good reviews with stripes for their children’s belts. They also make you sign a contract agreeing not to make any bad reviews. They do it to cover up the fact that this place is an absolute joke. Not only is it the most expensive karate program in all of San Diego, it is also the most crooked. Run by a former military officer you’d think it would have more organization. But we’ve had a $1,200 transaction that was botched because their administration workers wrote it down on a STICKY NOTE. And don’t even get me started on their charges if you try to cancel. We started this program in good faith not knowing much about the martial arts world. And behind a manipulative “family” driven sales pitch we agreed to start our children here. After three months in the program our children had zero progression due to a large influx of children into the classes, which could not be properly handled by the masters. We sat and watched as favorites were quickly picked and their belt advancement process and overall progress in learning was streamlined because they were buddy buddy with someone that worked in the building. When confronted, the owner acted as if he had no idea what we were talking about, then used it against us as a sales pitch for the “Black Belt Program” where you pay more than double the price for an extra 15 minutes a class for your kids. Being naive and hopeful that this would help our kids we signed them up. Only to find out after that there was a $1,200 down payment and a CONTRACT for 6 years that was NOT mentioned to us. And when youBreak that contract they charge you cancelation fees and make you pay for classes when you are no longer attending for a period of one month post cancelation. This place is an absolute cash grab where good reviews and free advertising allow parents to advance their children over others. DO NOT TRUST WHAT YOU READ. These reviews are a scam made to make them look better than they really are. 5 months and over $4,000 to these people and all for nothing. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a martial arts program.
I love this place it is good for me and my sister.it gives good skills to kids for defending and good audited.this is a great place for kids to learn how to act correctly in the real world.
We love this karate school. we bring our 2 daughters and they love it. The staff and instructors are the best. I would recommend to anyone. Keep up the good work.
It’s a really friendly and professional environment!
An incredible place for the whole family to train and grow! The life skill development they offer is just as valuable as the self-defense skills they teach.
My seven-year daughter loves Karate, so I want her to join the best school for Karate where she can explore herself. Thanks to this lovely place! My daughters confidence has improved by leaps and bounds.
This place is a five star business without a doubt. I signed my four year old daughter up for classes two months ago not sure on how it would be and I am blown away at how great the business and staff is. My daughter has already shown growth and absolutely loves her instructors. The owner Master Convento is a prior veteran who is passionate about his business and customers. I recently found myself in a financial bind and almost had to take my daughter out of classes. Master Convento pulled me aside and helped find a way to keep my daughter in class. Couldn’t be more happy and financially comfortable with the outcome. 10/10 recommend for any parent wanting to teach their kids about MMA or just teach them discipline and focus!
Excellent community. Stellar instructors with a real focus on individualized improvement.
Love it im a student
U.S. Karate Academy good school and martial arts, my son learns very fast and now he is not bullied in school anymore. I invite you to take your child to this school, it is in San Diego, CA and it is not expensive. Do not let your child continue to suffer abuse.
U.S. Karate Academy San Diego is definitely the best place for kids. I enrolled my son almost two years ago and he loves it. He used to be so shy before and now he has gotten so much confidence in himself. Everybody stepped in to help him become the little boy he is today. I cannot thank them enough for what they have done to him and I will definitely recommend U.S. Karate Academy San Diego. I trust them to care for my son because they care and work with kids to help them.
USKA is a great martial arts school. The instructors are great with the kids while still teaching them discipline and respect for the sport. My son has gained so much confidence in himself since we starting bringing him.
I love the respect and high level of decorum at US Karate Academy. Often times the instruction is almost one on one with your sparing partner and a Black Belt instructor. Very cool. Good workout and above normal level of instruction. I like the fact that the schedule is flexible. I can go to any one of two classes offer every day. There is even a class on Saturdays.
WE LOVE THIS PLACE! the entire staff is so amazing. We wouldn’t want to go anywhere else :) I have enjoyed seeing my daughter Leah learn so much in this class. Everything she learns there, she applies at home, it’s awesome ! Thank you USKA STAFF.
My kids have been going here for a couple years. My daughter loved her gymnastics and when we told her shed have to make a choice, she didnt even have to think about it: martial arts! I attended a self-defense course here as well and they …
My son has been attending for about 8 months. I have seen a big change in Connor since hes been attending in his additude, his focus, and his listening. The instructors are patient with the younger kids. The staff is amazing and push the kids to be the best versions of themselves.
My six year old son has been attending classes since December of last year and we have seen a change for the better with his ability to focus in class and in school. His teacher even commented on how much he improved over the second half of the school year. I strongly recommended USKA! The instructors really take the time with the students to not only teach the martial arts but values and patience too.
Outstanding place. Very attentive to their students. Really got our girls to be more confident and engaged. We signed them up for a special 8-course session for $99, and now we have signed up for the 1-year, 2-session/week program. We are very happy with the program and the instructors.
When I first brought my sons in they were completely non responsive to the instructors. They encouraged both me and my wife to stick it out and bring them in for one on one sessions to just give them a chance to get used to it. After a couple one on one sessions, both my boys came out of their shell and now are very excited when Karate class comes around. Well definitely stick with it! I would recommend USKA to anyone!!
We love USKA! My two children (ages 5 and 6) have been attending classes here for 3 months now and I have already seen a significant change in their confidence levels. I love that they can be active and have fun while learning great values at the same time. The staff and instructors are phenomenal!
Its a conveinant location. Its close to shopping centers so we can grab dinner or a quick snack. The most highly ranked instructor can get stuff taken care of and still be friendly. The students can earn their way to employment here. They have tons of activities to do on and off the mat. I like the new Curriculum and testing requirements. Its a lot of extra effort put in by the students to make sure they know their stuff.
Our first experience with Karate and we can really see a difference in our Kids. Their focus (and strength) have improved and they really enjoy the classes. I was glad to see that the staff includes both male and female instructors. Keep up the good work.
I love the open mat group classes with a variety of instuctors. It is convenient to my sons school in Pt. Loma. The classes are fun for my son, and he is happy. He is excited to come to class. He really likes sparring so we purchased the gear for him. Its a great place for kids and adults.
USKA and its staff run without a doubt the best karate studio in San Diego. My son (4yrs old) and I both participate in the group classes and I also take private lessons with Mr. Convento. All I can say is our progress has been amazing. Im even training to compete in the World Championships in July based on the training and guidance Ive received from Mr. C. Never thought Id be competing at this level again. Its very exciting!
I love this Karate family! They are wonderful, patient, and the most kindest staff! They have lots of events for the whole fam throughout the year! Just what we are looking for!
Were very happy with USKA!! The instructors are amazing with the kids.
Both my son and daughter are enrolled at the Academy and the experience is awesome. All o the Instructors that are on the floor get involved and you never see anyone not doing something. It is a professional and fun atmosphere and I encourage other parents to at least stop by for a demo interview for you or your child, we did and we made our decision on the spot! Mr. Bernal is firm and fun with the teaching of the children and Ms. Spears is a kind professional and is awesome with the children too! I dont see my children in any other place. Thank you USKA-- The Ashbaugh Family (Rudy and Adriana Perez)
Our 12 year old daughter has been attending USKA since Aug 2012 and really loves it - She has always had an interest in martial arts but we never pursued it until our family moved to San Diego. I feel she has really connected to the USKA program, its curriculum, the staff and the students in her particular classes. The instructors are amazingly talented, super friendly, extremely passionate about the martial art forms being taught and genuinely care about every students well being, growth and overall development. They are always seeking out opportunities to keep the program interesting and to keep the students mentally and physically engaged which in turn makes it fun, interesting and challenging for all involved. My wife and I are very pleased with USKA and the awesome results weve seen to date - The program has most definitely been a great fit for our daughter and has helped her grow in so many ways (athletically, socially, developing leadership skills, building self-confidence)! With the high level of passion and commitment she is consistently applying to USKA, we are confident it will have a long lasting, positive impact as she transitions into young adulthood.
My oldest daughter has been training at USKA for 2.5 years now and is less than a year from getting her black belt. The transformation in her physical abilities, confidence, discipline, and focus has been astounding! She told me the other day that the USKA studio feels like home to her, and I am moved by how sincerely the staff treats us like family. The instruction they provide is absolutely first rate and the facilities are clean and state-of-the-art. I would recommend USKA to any parent considering starting their child in tang soo do (or any form of karate) and am even considering trying it myself one of these days!
USKA IS THE BEST! This martial arts studio is the Harvard of Martial Arts. It just doesnt get any better than this. I have been attending this studio for over 2 years, and I couldnt be more thrilled. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. The owner, Master Sal Convento, is an extremely well decorated martial artist, winning numerous titles such as champion, grand champion, and a 2 time World Champion (the only person in history to win this title in 2 different age divisions). His employees, as well as his students, are also well decorated marital artists and have won numerous titles (champion, grand champion, world champion, etc). I also love attending the tournaments that USKA participates in, and cant wait for our next tournament on February 7th.I actually researched numerous martial arts studios before joining USKA. All the professional martial arts studios that I have looked into all require you to sign a contract and pay extra for private lessons. This seems to be the standard protocol of any professional martial arts studio. I went to 5 martial arts studios before settling with USKA. At the other martial arts studios you pay the same price per month as USKA, but they are all 1,000 - 2,000 square foot facilities. At USKA, it is a 5,000 square foot facility and you are trained by grand champions and world champions. Trust me, it is a much bigger and better bang for your buck! Becoming a student of USKA is a decision that I have never once regretted! If youre looking for a clean studio with an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff, then look no further; United States Karate Academy is your new martial arts home for you and your children!!
Just like any other business, only knows you if you have money
