First off, Id like to start off by saying that San Diego Fitness has vibes like no other. Music playing in the background is great, every staff member/trainer is super friendly, and their equipment is top notch. Not to mention, they are super clean! Outdoor turf area is a huge plus and the two separated workout spaces makes it that much better. Now, Id like to get to Jonathan Uphoff and Wes Lauer. The guys are stand up guys. Incredibly friendly, easy to talk to, and clearly experienced in their field. They do a great job at San Diego Fitness, and now post COVID, for those that are trying to get back into their workout routine and like working with someone who will motivate them and make them better, this is the place!!

The place and staff are awesome. Even if you dont have a personal trainer the general trainers are very supportive. All the equipment is cleaned and sanitized after each use. The ambiance and music made me feel enthusiastic. I got my body shaped here. The service was exceptional. Five-star service!

Ive been working out with my personal trainer and coming to San Diego Fitness for 7 months. I absolutely feel great and my routine isnt too hard to keep up with. Definitely the best private training place in San Diego. A variety of good exercise machines and cool equipment I hadnt used before, and at least 4 or 5 private training areas. They keep it clean too, which many gyms dont.

SD Fitness is the first gym I’ve felt really comfortable at. It is never crowded with big bulky sweaty people to intimidate you. I am always surrounded by supportive trainers who push me to do my best at my own skill level.The facilities are great here. You have personal bathrooms, lockers, and there is ample space for you to work out in. It’s always clean with fresh towels for clients to use.For a personal training gym, this place is very affordable!

Ive actually only had a Thai massage inside SD Fitness, but man... do I recommend it!Whether your wrapping up a workout, or just in need of a readjustment-- check out the hidden massage parlor inside SD Fitness and enjoy some YOU time!

Ive been a fitness buff for almost 30 years and, when I moved to San Diego, I looked for a new gym for about 2 weeks before settling on San Diego Fitness. The fact is that they have everything I need to get an excellent workout and the staff is not only knowledgeable but extremely helpful and friendly. I work out on my own but, even after all these years, the trainers there were able to point out some things that I could improve and Im grateful for that. If you need an excellent fitness center this is the place youre looking for. Im sure glad I chose them and Ill be coming for a long time.

I love the personal training and the help with meal planning I get at San Diego Fitness. Its that all-around support and the specific things my trainer tells me I can do. And what Im doing right! I dont have to stick to some stiff, workout routine and meal schedule. I can now mix my exercises up to keep them interesting, and how they work best in my crazy schedule. The positive motivation is the best and what I didnt get at other training gyms.

If you’re looking for a nice change of gym, this is the place to go. I’ve met the owner a few times now, and he knows how to run this place like a true gym. State of the art equipment, an abundance of quality personal trainers, affordable rates, and CLEAN! Also, it’s located in such a convenient area of town, right in between Del Mar and La Jolla.

This facility is very clean and has a wide range of equipment to facilitate all types of workouts. Towels provided, 2 clean bathrooms with showers, a changing room - it has everything I need.I work out here with my trainer, Andrea King. This is my review of her:I found Andrea on Yelp and was intrigued by her consistently excellent reviews. She stood out even during our initial phone conversation. She spent a significant amount of time understanding my goals, explaining her approach to nutrition and exercise, and answering my straightforward questions about her experience and how she would be different from the last trainer. Prior to meeting her for a consultation, she emailed a questionnaire about my medical and fitness history, lifestyle, eating habits, and goals. She was very professional, reviewed everything on the questionnaire and wrote notes, and answered all my questions. It felt like a mutual meeting to make sure we were on the same page and worth each other’s time (and my money!). I worked out 3 times a week with her for 3 months. By my wedding, I was the closest to my goal that I have ever been and made significant and visible progress - much more than I could have done myself or with any other workout I had tried. I was back at the weight I was 10 years ago and probably my leanest. Most importantly, I felt confident and comfortable in my body.My intention was to stop personal training after the wedding. The wedding has passed and I am still working with Andrea – that says a lot! This is why I continue:- Andrea provides true PERSONAL training. She listens to my goals and tailors each workout and the overall plan; no two clients are the same and neither are our fitness plans. She addresses my concerns, whether it be tweaking my diet/workouts or doing my assessment earlier so I can see the evidence. She plans my workouts and homework ahead of time so everything feels intentional to reach my goals. She is incredibly observant and remembers our workouts and nuances about my body. She is very attentive to my form and constructively corrects me all the time. You will be very hard pressed to find her level of personalization at a big chain gym.- Andrea is experienced and well-trained. She is able to explain everything - proper form of each exercise and how our bodies compensate when fatigued, targeted muscles, effects of food on our bodies, etc. There are so many myths and pop culture to fitness; I believe that a true professional personal trainer understands and is able to explain the effects of exercise and nutrition on our bodies and Andrea does exactly that. She empowers her clients to maintain a balanced life by explaining proper exercise and healthy eating habits. She is also driven to keep learning and educating herself through fitness seminars and reading. Living and understanding a healthy lifestyle is who she really is, not just her job.- Andrea keeps me accountable. I’m self-motivated, but Andrea really helps keep my eating and exercise habits on track. Like many clients have mentioned, she is the perfect balance of sternness and encouragement. She is realistic in her expectations, and reminds me to be realistic as well. She takes the time to evaluate my eating habits, offers suggestions that will provide enough calories and macronutrients, and tailors workouts and “homework” exercises to my short- and long-term goals. When someone dedicates this time and attention to me, I feel responsible to also do my part to meet these expectations.Without hesitation, I would recommend Andrea to anyone who has goals for working out or nutrition. She will push you further than you will yourself and dedicate herself to helping you reach your potential.

At first I thought this training studio was far from my house in Carmel Valley, because the Google page says its in Mira Mesa. But its not; its several miles from there (thankfully!). Because I live just around the corner from San Diego Fitness. Its in Sorrento Valley, which is great because its on my way to work by the 5/805 merge too.After my first free personal training session I was ready to get started with a trainer full time, because they made my workout fresh and effective. I have options and can mix up my exercises, which keeps it from getting boring.The vibe is Fun! I can go into the gym when Im in a really bad mood and Ill come out Ready to Rock.I recommend it to anyone who I hear talking about how they hate going to the gym or working out.

SD Fitness really knows what they are doing. Coming from having a Kinesiology Degree and working as a personal trainer myself, I am very picky when it comes to someone training me. Jim does a great job of pushing you to your limits and helping you reach your goals of fitness. SD fitness has a very nice facility with a lot of open space to do functional workouts and state of the art cross fit and trx equipment. It worked out perfect for me too because it is very close to my house in La Jolla. I highly recommend SD Fitness and all of the trainers that are available there.

Jonathan is the man. Trains me, my wife, and my 15 year old! Hes added 6 inches to his vertical in 2 months, 45 inches! Beast workouts!
