I loved my experience coming in and the gals showing the place (I only remember Gia) were so pleasant! They were able to be honest and transparent about the whole application process. They make it easy to understand the terms. The location is in between my family and my work so it’s perfect for me. They have a pool, which I love! This place has beautiful upgrades but I really just enjoyed the team that helped me move in. We have not too great of credit and I didn’t understand the application process until Gia told me what was required of me. She was helpful through the entire process. Thank goodness!!
These apartments are the bare minimum. Only rent here if you are desperate. We live on an extremely noisy street, so every time someone drives by, 3 car alarms go off. No in-unit laundry, no garbage disposal, no A/C, very little heat. The laundry units are constantly broken, and there was a dead mouse in the laundry room last time I was in there. We also had mice in our apartment, and the maintenance workers were no help at all. Then the management company forced us to move to a different apartment in the complex, but it wasnt ready in time for us to move, so we just had to unpack all of our stuff for a month, then repack when the new apartment was finally available. Final nail in the coffin is that they keep raising rent every time they are legally able to, so we will be moving out ASAP.
I really appreciate Aaron he was able to help me and my family out we had NOT so good of interactions with one of the LADIES there. Aaron was able to HELP and have a good attitude. Very kind, patient. If it wasn’t for Aaron I would have not moved in with the attitude she gave my wife. SHOUT OUT TO YOU AARON. HOPEFULLY YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RECEIVE A MANAGERS POSITION. I RECOMMEND AARON.!!
WORST PLACE EVER !!DONT MOVE HERE EVEN IF YOUR DESPERATE. WORST PLACE ALL AROUND
Seriously look anywhere else. Property Manager needs to get replaced, absolutely no help at all, with the worst attitude too.
Very rude and unprofessional! Lake of consideration for their tenants. To anybody looking to rent there PLEASE DON’T you WILL regret making that choice 👎🏻👎🏻
Rude, dont answer the questions,u ask. I will never have any of my family friends or associates apply there. After how I was treated.
I just wanted to share how impressed I am with the staff at Lantana Hills Apartment Homes. I came to tour the property, as I am looking to rent in the near future and couldnt be more pleased with the service, the look of the office, the beautiful apartment layouts and amenities, and most importantly the people that work there. I met with Kate who was simply a joy! I also got to meet Connie, another leasing person who was professional and super friendly! Kate was informative and upbeat. She answered all my questions with ease made me feel so comfortable. Once I am ready to move, I will definitely make Lantana Hills my new home! Thanks again!
I’ve never written a review in my life, but I felt I should write one about these apartments as a warning. Definitely one of the worst places I‘ve ever lived and I lived in 29 palms for 5 years. First thing: there’s no AC so whatever money you think you’ll be saving is going to be spent on a portable AC unit that hardly works and you’ll be cooking in your own home all summer. And if you plug it into anywhere other than the kitchen it’ll blow out the power to your entire apartment. Second: the parking situation is awful. If you want to come home from a long day of work only to spend another 30 min looking for parking this is the place for you. We’ve been trying to get a parking permit for months and just keep getting told we’ll get a call back which we never do. There’s so many more reasons you shouldn’t live here, but if you decide to live here anyways I’d just like to say you’ve been warned and I tried doing my part.
The service at the leasing office was mediocre at best.My friend and I were very interested in leasing here. Connie and Kate were very helpful and guided us through the complex. Then, once our application was approved, Kate was a bit aggressive and encouraging us to move in. This was something you should assume though since they’re trying to lease the homes. However, her attitude about it was not professional and she quickly threw little tantrums at us like a child. She seemed very displeased when we told her we would give it time to think - just one day. We had also applied for other locations and were waiting for their outcome. Also, Connie had promised a certain move-in date for us, but that date was never met. This too impacted our decision to lease here. All in all, I question the capability of this leasing office. Good luck to them.
Not sure as to why there seems to be such harsh reviews. I have been a valued resident at this community for over 7 years. My apartment was recently renovated and they did an amazing job, i received a new stainless steal gas range, I LOVE IT. Management has always been so helpful and honest. I am an elderly woman and the office is always so helpful. Cain and Brenna are absolutely wonderful.
I have been here for almost three years. These are some of the best landlords I ever had. They are always on point and quick to do my repairs. The grounds are kept clean and I feel safe here. There is a big diverse population here and with the strip mall across one street, the pool and play ground across the other, the weight room at the end of the sidewalk. The rent is reasonable when you look at everything. Close to a high school, on a major bus route across from a major grocery store, Marshals, beauty supply stores, Panda Express and more. I love it here.
I just moved about a week ago and my entire experience was great. I was greeted at the door by a very cheerful Michael. The process was easy and they welcomed my dog Coco with open arms.
New to San Diego due to being stationed here. I am really impressed with the office staff, Brenna and her manager Vicki really went above and beyond to explain the process and were able to move me in fairly quickly. I have been here about 6 weeks and I have not seen 1 bug so Im not sure what all the fuss is about. all in all Im more than satisfied to be here the next 14 months.
Overall the office and their lantana team are quick to solve any problems we’ve have since we’ve lived here for the past year. They have also made it stress free when needing to possibly switch units due to the lease being over. Great community as well as good amenities. Will continue to rent here !
Very very upset and disappointed with the staff. I tried to arrainge for me to come in and renew my lease, I was told I can come in today Friday my only day off. After waiting 45 minutes I was told they will call me. They did call me only to tell me I was being scheduled for the following day which is inconvenient due to my busy work schedule. After explaining Tracy started raising her voice and speaking in a very rude way. When I said I don’t appreciate her attitude and tone of voice her response was... “ well that’s the way I talk!”. I asked for the number or contact info for higher management or person in charge and she refused to give me that information. Because of this I have decided to move out. The lack of professionalism and customer service and other incidents have made me come to this decision.
Reading through the reviews does not give an accurate description of these apartments. Being a resident here for 8 months i would say these apartments are reasonable priced, very central, the office staff has been overly helpful since the day i moved in and the pool is wonderful during the summer months. Cain, Brenna, Maureen and Vicky always go well out of their way to make sure i am satisfied. I will be extending my leasing and continuing my stay here.
Absolutely horrendous. I went to a tour and there was water damage and bugs in the show apartment. It was unbearably hot inside too with no AC. There was a homeless man digging in the garbage and a drunk fighting the maintenance man. Many people drove very fast on the street and there was dead grass and dog poop everywhere.
From the first day i came to these apartments the office has been helpful. i was looking for an apartment with a garage so that my husband could store his tools safely. we love the complex and my kids really enjoy the time at the pool.
Lantana hills has many accommodations and were quick to assist us with anything we needed. The apartments were nice and remodeled and had plenty of space. Was close to shopping centers and the freeway. Would recommend!
Wonderful experience. I am approaching the end of my lease and going to stay. I have nothing but great things to say about office staff, Cane and Brenna really know how to do their jobs. Every minor issues i have had maintenance has been amazing. My family loves Lantana Hills.
The new management at Lantana Hills is amazing. My two cousins Maria and Pablo live at these apartments and they told me how nice Cane, the man in the office is. He helped me get an apartment for my family and I.
I liked how simple it is but having a lack of hygiene of the area is sometimes disgusting. They charge too much for a parking and they even toll you in midnights so they will not notice. The front desk lady was completely rude and unnecessary. I would recommend you to just look somewhere else than this place.
Since moving to LH last august, the staff and facility crews have been extremely helpful and consistent. Though it is a large complex, the grounds are kept in perfect condition, problems are solved quickly, and upgrades are always being made.
UPDATE: Brenna did seem to try to help us - so there is that. I appreciate her listening to us and looking in to what can be done to help us. Up one star for that. Well see what comes of it - Ill update again when we see what happens. On THREE different occasions they towed my car for no reason. Once from my own assigned spot and once from the common lot. Unresponsive management. *update: they payed for the tow that was from our assigned spot. Good on them for fixing that mistake! Regarding the common lot: They changed the rules on the common lot, but did not inform us of the change (they first said that they sent a text - which we never received - and then that they posted a letter on our door - which we did not receive.)
One month in our 1 year lease. Please expect nothing good from this place. I repeat do not move in we have lived here for 1 month and the move in day they failed to have move in ready we moved in 6 hours late. They failed to notice we put pets on our application and are trying to charge us now for pet rent and deposit. Two weeks before September rent was due we were told we would be given multiple discounts on rent. Vicki kate and connie told us all different stories about what was going on. Vicki refused to give us any sort of answer after she told us she needed time to figure out what we owe never emailed us. We have called and tried to reach out but they refuse to answer any emails or calls. When we finally went in the office to discuss rent, Kate called Vicki and told us we owe zero dollars now ten days into September they want to give us a 3 day pay or acquit notice on our door. Please consider other apartment complex because this place can not run a leasing office.
I write this review after living at Lantana Hills for 15 months and successfully completing my lease and move out.First of all, let me get this out of the way. My apartment was on University Avenue, and that street is LOUD. However, there is nothing about the traffic noise that has to do with the apartment complex or management, so I will not hold that against them. I will say that if you are sensitive to noise, you would do well to request a unit that is up around the corner on 58th Street. They have multiple units there that do not have nearly as much traffic. That being said, I spent 15 months living here. Initially I had several neighbors that I can only label as undesirables. These were people that nobody from any walk of life would want hanging out near their residence. The current management took over while I was in the middle of my lease and they inherited a number of tenants that they probably would never have leased an apartment to. The management fielded several complaints from me and gave me updates on their progress in mitigating the negative behavior of the derelict tenants and finally the expulsion of said residents. They really made a considerable effort to clean up the vacated units as well as to bring in clean, quiet and respectful tenants in their place. You may have read up until this point and wonder why I have awarded them 5 stars. I am rating the management. They took over what I would consider a less-than-ideal set of circumstances and spent a lot of time and resources investing in not only their property, but also their relationships with established tenants. If you like the location and shopping that are located conveniently across the street, rest assured that the management is capable and eager to make sure you are happy living there.-Jason Horvath
EDIT:Upon hearing about several of my issues, Vicki the manager of Lantana Hills was quick to help me resolve them. She gave me a few more days to move out since there were issues with being able to move out some furniture I had, as well as giving a reasonable explanation to why our meeting did not happen. Lantana has stepped up their game recently by remodeling the outside of the units and garages (in the hundreds of units, not a small task) and although there were some issues I had while I was there, I would recommend at least stopping by and checking it out for yourself. Like I said in my previous review, there are some great hard workers there (in the office, and especially the handy men, they are awesome!) and obviously they are trying to do their best with a large scale project on their hands. Check them out if you are looking for a spot in the area, it could be for you! This place is absolutely filthy. There are literally hundreds of cockroaches in my apartment and I cannot even move my belongings out (thankfully just moved!) because of the horrible infestation. This, on top of my neighbors fighting while LITERALLY pulling guns and knives on each other in the common area makes this, now Lantana Gardens (past name was Hillside Gardens Apartments, new name probably to avoid connection with this the last and its management) completely unlivable. Although there has been 2 hard working office members while I have lived there for the past year and a half, the staff is 1/2 the issue. I put in multiple work orders to fix a broken door in my apartment to no avail. I also had requested a pest control tech come spray my apartment twice leading up to my move out so I can take my things with me and not carry over this infestation. Both times they said they came, I was there the second time, no one showed. Now I am being charged for extra days that I am not living in the apartment so that the pest tech and come BACK OUT FOR THIRD TIME (allegedly) and management is refusing to talk to me when I drove 1 hour for a meeting with her because she said she was too busy (that is why people set meeting times..........) I never felt safe, nor comfortable in this apartment or area. I do not, and will never recommend living here. I would avoid the mess you will inevitably have by moving into Lantana and go somewhere else. I wish yelp had 0 stars.
Current tenant here. This place is bad, if your considering renting here read the reviews and take caution. I should have seriously considered them but I thought since our apartment is going to be renovated that it would be different. What they mean by renovated by the way is that they paint over EVERYTHING. Just a nice glossy coat, so much so that youll get paint on the bottom of your feet from the bathtub because they just paint over that too. That and a cheap fake me out granite counter top. They allure you with a free month of rent but not a good incentive to move. If subtract that towards what you pay for the remaining months its still considerably high for what you get.To sum it up without complaining too much, if you want to pay a lot for rent, have roaches and rodents, loud neighbors, horrible parking, bad management, and very outdated building then this is the place for you.Save your self the headache( a warning from a current tenant) and rent somewhere other than Latana hills!!
Quite, clean, pet friendly, shopping center across the street and great neighborhood.
I just moved in few weeks ago and I enjoy my new place. The office staff made my move in a smooth process.
The management company is rude and have no basic customer service skills. Neighbors have no respect for their surroundings. Trash is always overloading in the dumpsters. People never pick up after their dogs. They lock the laundry room even though you need a key to get in and they dont always open it on time. Potholes everywhere. Kids spray paint cars and walls. Not the ideal place to live. And when you move out dont even bother cleaning because they will charge whatever they can think of to take all of your deposit money. Location of the property is probably the only good thing. Thats probably why they think they can charge ridiculous amount for rent. This place is really not worth it. Parking sucks too.
The worst apartments in California. The management is completely psychotic. They are literally out to get their tenants. I guarantee that anyone who lives there longer than 6 months will completely agree.
Lantana Hills is a great place with a great staff who genuinely cares about their residents.. I am so glad I chose to live here. Lantana Hills has so many different amenities and options. I especially love that they have TWO pools. The improvements and renovations that are happening make it seem like the staff cares too.
We have only lived here for two months and we are already so unhappy with our living conditions due to multiple issues we are facing. We noticed the presence of cockroaches upon initially moving in and when we called to complain, the office referred to them as water bugs. (lol) They are various sizes and ages implying that this is a long-going issue and infestation. We begged to have the pest control company come and spray our unit and they came by while I was at work and were apparently unable to spray. We rescheduled the appointment through the leasing office and they finally came to treat our unit for bugs. Not even a week later, I came home from work to find more cockroaches all over the kitchen especially on the walls around the sink.Despite major efforts to keep the apartment as sterile as possible, the cockroaches still remain present in the apartment. These bugs are filthy, bacteria and disease carrying bugs and the leasing office is brushing the issue off and playing dumb.We have also had a breach of security within the first 2 months. We came home from work to find the back screen of our window hanging off and the window ajar. Luckily nothing was missing, but we called the police anyway to report the suspicious activity and protect our safety. The police patrolled the unit all week long and the leasing office did nothing other than offer a window lock to put on.And to top it off, the water heater installed within the unit exploded and flooded our kitchen. They attempted to de-humidify the kitchen with an appliance but all it did was make our house smell musky. Also, the water caused nasty, dark stains to appear along the baseboards. Supposedly they replaced the baseboards, but the gross water marks still exist around the edges. Not only is it ugly, Im worried about internal water damage.I am so fed up with this place and I am regretting our decision to sign a lease here. The only pleasant person to speak to in the office is Brenna. I will be speaking with the leasing office regarding termination of my lease. This place needs some serious work. Would give zero stars if possible.
First and foremost, I don’t know where to begin, first off the people in the office will hang up on you when you call and won’t let you speak, the price of the apartment itself is too much money for a place filled with rats and cockroaches, my kids couldn’t even go to the kitchen sometimes because of the rats, my furniture got destroyed by rats, my storage unit for my car was filled w my personal belongings, it was destroyed by rats as well, all and all i would never recommend these apartments to anyone, be aware they will treat you like just a check to them, find a better place to live!!!!
If you enjoy faulty plumbing, mold, rodents, cockroaches and dealing with EXTREMELY unprofessional management this is the community for you. Fyi the good reviews come from people that are offered laundry cards in exchange for good reviews. DO NOT MOVE HERE!! Free rent is for them because they will steal your money then claim you didnt pay your rent. If you make the mistake of moving here, keep ALL receipts of your rent payment. This place is run by slumb lords that conduct fraudulent activities that needs to be investigated. Property should also be inspected and shut down by the health department. BEWARE.
Do NOT move here.
This is a very sketchy part of the city, crime of all kinds is very common. I constantly had the police at my door looking for criminals. The people living in these apartments were dangerous. I am writing this because I wish I had a warning before moving in to this hell hole. When checking out these apartments the staff has it all planned out, they do not show you the apartment you are moving in to. They instead show you a model thats furnished on a quiet side of the complex thats only for show. When I actually moved my family in to the apartment they assigned us to, there was about 15 drug addicts living in a tiny 2 bedroom apartment right next to us. Every time we walked outside there would be drug addicts at our door just hanging out. It was awful. Finally one day the neighbors got hostile towards me and my family and I begged the landlord Vicki to let us out of our lease because of the criminals living next door. She showed no sympathy and said no. I moved my family out anyways because the life of my children is whats most important to me and they eventually let us out of our lease but the management definitely made it difficult. They threatened to keep our deposit and make us keep paying the rent until someone moved in to the space. It was awful to have our drug addict neighbors be threatening us and also the landlord. It was honestly the worst experience of my life and thats a big deal. Im a veteran of 2 foreign wars and I’ve never felt my life endangered more than when I was living in this dangerous drug infested apartment complex full of shady neighbors and bad management. It was just awful and I warn you, if you love your family, stay away from this complex!
1 of the biggest mistakes moving in here. I dont even know where to start. Washers never work or open on time as stated by the office, pool STAYS dirty, features show in the show room are downgraded to a cheap version when you get YOUR actual apartment (example: hardwood floors are actually vinyl tile with the IMAGE of hardwood floor on them.), laundry room closest to me has NEVER been open while Ive lived here due to being out of service. And not just 1 or 2 washers, but the ENTIRE laundry room! I could go on and on with how horrible its been to live here. I CANNOT wait till we are able to move out!!!
My main purpose for this review is so no one else gets ripped off, like it was done to me. Make sure to read what you sign because they will say something then deny it and have your signature to back up their asses. (Giselle) I will have to pay extra money now that she said not to worry about it. Also she is terrible in math.
I Enjoyed my residency at lantana hills, I lived in a remodeled unit which was nice and easy to keep clean. The neighbors were sometimes loud but very polite. The Apartments are a short walk away from multiple shopping places and my favorite taco Place in San Diego tacos al gusto . Parking was sometimes alittle crowded but not to bad. There was always a nice group of kids playing in the area with no problems the neighborhood is safe. Upon move out there was a slight miscalculation with the computer, however the manager there Vicky was very helpful in getting things cleaned up for us and returning our rent credits. All in all this is shaping up to be a great community close to SDSU campus and 15 mins from anything (beaches, East county, north county, ) It is at a junction between major highways which is nice for commuting. My roommate and I are thankful we found such affordable rent in San Diego. The grounds crew did a good job at cleaning up the streets and gardens and the security officers kept a good watch over the neighbor hood. the pools were clean and the laundry facilities worked well.
This place sucks. Same plumbing problems, same section 8 problem tenants, same parking problems, plenty of loud music and groups of people sitting around smoking weed all day. At calling my wife, still no AC, same 1980s appliances. All this and more for $1,700 a month.Fair market value, yeah ok. Maybe if this place didnt have any of the aforementioned problems.Lantana Apartments...or Hillside Gardens, you can plant some flowers and paint some buildings, buy this polished turd is exactly that. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone, not even Hitler or Stalin.
Cockroaches, loud and unruly children roaming the complex and wreaking havoc with zero adult supervision, and a plethora of other unwanted guests. Maintenance repairs mold outbreaks by painting over it. Any time you hear the word renovations it means blast the apartment with a gallon of white paint and hope a health hazard doesnt persist. There is moisture dripping through the walls and infrastructure implying persistent plumbing issues that have not been rectified. This place is an absolute no go unless you like your girlfriend getting cat-called by old mexican men every time she leaves the house or having your neighbors child ask you for a dollar for lunch every time you get home from work.
Unless you like unwanted vistors living in your home RENT FREE (i.e. pests) Do NOT moce here. Management is lazy, rude, and not proactive. They will allow roaches and rats (yes...RATS) to move underneath feet, and in your walls and will not nip the problem in the bud. They actually will only be in the beginning phases of action when a by the time a CLEAN, well kept unit is in full blown infestation mode. They rush you off of phone call and when you come into the office by fast talking and pretending the problem will be fixed. I mean seriously what company doesnt care that the garages that are under their units arent sealed off leaving free access for any pest, rodent or bugs to easily find thwir way into thie costly units. I wouldnt mive there with my children if i was being paid to do so. Thats how gross this complex is. It doesnt matter how clean you are it wo t help. Youll still be be too embarrassed to have guests. Your rent will still be high. Your garage will still not be sealed. Oh but you will NOT receive a 5 day grace period to pay your rent and you cant even just drop of money orders or checks. This place and its employees are a fake and fraudulent JOKE.
Its amazing how a major and the best apartment complex in the area which is getting millions of dollars worth of renovation and upgrades is being reviewed like that.unless these people are out of the complex for variety of good reasons, it does not make sense.
Extremely pet friendly with awesome amenities.
The management sucks at this apartment complex never available to help my problems roaches also a problem unorganized management and timing is bad whenever I try to come in. The actual units are hot itself and it’s just overall unpleasant and over priced
Both my cars keyed multiple times. People digging through your trash cans weekly. Cop cars constantly speeding by. Almost no street lights. Rent is very expensive $1575 for a 750sqft 2 bedroom. No Dishwaher or garbage dispolsal. Some of the buildings were old Naval Officer Quarters that were sold off to the complex. The electrical is very very old, the breakers would pop off all the time. I was very worried about electrical fires.Renters Insurance required.
This place is horrible!! Horrible! Stay away from this complex. Management is terrible. Way over priced! Cars are broken into, keyed, and hit. Management is so unorganized and shady!
So Happy Im Moving Out.
This place has bedbugs and landlord pest company refusing to do a follow up fumigation after finding more bedbugs and we have rats in these premises as well
If i could i would rate a ZERO. Lantana is advertising free rent but just know that FREE RENT=FREE BEDBUGS
Badly maintained apartments that are way overpriced, terrible parking and terrible staff. 1/10 only come here to visit my GF
Well there is a kinder garden in the community 4055 a lot a lot of noise I do not know how, the homeless look for food or recicle trash near dumpster in AM hours and is difficult to sleep, some neighbors use the garage as store or business more noise,!! no for parking as should be, administration do not do anything we gonna start to look for a new place.
Bad, got pest, bugs everywhere
Bad experience and service
Soo dirty
Worst apartments ever!!!!!
