Ray Frey Auto did amazing work on my Dodge van. They were straight to the point and completed the work very quickly. On top of that they were honest about prices and what needed to be done. It’s unusual to visit a repair shop and feel that they are honest. Ray Frey happens to be one of those rare shops that shoots it straight along with highly competent work. Would definitely recommend them to anyone!

The standard by which all repair shops should be judged. I was very impressed at my first visit to this shop. Very friendly and professional people! The waiting room area was clean with large windows where you could see your vehicle being serviced. Most importantly they did not try to make me pay for repairs that were not needed. They also looked for any other possible problems and made some recommendations four future service. The price was very fair and they also gave me a military discount which is always appreciated. Ray Frey was highly recommended to me by friends and now I know why.

I needed to have brake service done, but the dealership service department couldn’t schedule soon enough. Then I remembered the excellent service I got from Ray Frey several years earlier, and it is located just up the street from the dealer.They diagnosed the problem and were able to use OEM parts to fix. As far as I can tell, Ray Frey has always had a good reputation and my visit reminded why that is. I will likely use them more often.

I love Ray Frey’s. Their service is amazing. I went in for 90,000 tune up. I watched the mechanic check out my car, I was amazed at his attention to every part of my car, in and out.Important to know they will never recommend a repair if it is not needed. Very impressive.I drive 40 miles to have them maintain my car, I can totally trust them. They give you a free care clean. That too is amazing. No nonsense business. Highly recommended!!!

We recently took our truck in to Rey Frey to have them diagnose some engine issues after an engine rebuild from another shop kept throwing codes. Rey Frey tested the truck, explained what they thought the issue was, and gave us an estimate. After the initial fix, they retested their work and found that there were still issues. They took the whole thing apart and found parts in the newly rebuilt engine that shouldnt have been in there. They took pictures and showed us what the problem was then replaced everything they needed to, not charging us for the things they ended up not using once they found the real issue deeper in the engine. Our truck runs like a champ now and we ended up paying less than the estimate which is a first! Needless to say... this is our shop from now on!

I went to start my car and it was completely dead. I had an appointment to go to that I had to cancel. I got a jump from my neighbor and called my normal mechanic. They said they were slammed and couldnt help me but I could bring it in the next day and wait a couple hours for them to service it. I decided to check Nextdoor for a new mechanic and saw that Ray Frey Auto Center had 24 recommendations from my neighbors so I called them. So glad I did. Clementine told me to bring it in and they would take care of me and they did. I was so grateful. And they washed my car on top of all of that so I have a new mechanic to go to now!

Fantastic work and knowledgeable staff. We took our Lexus here with a major issues, and they were able to turn it around and get it running better than ever. They were very upfront with us regarding what was wrong with the car, and what needed to be done. They had to send the head out to a machine shop for extra work, and were able to work with them to ensure that the job was done properly, on budget and on time. I wouldnt hesitate to send any of my family or friends over there to have work done. A great staff, who does the job right.

Ray Frey knows everything about cars. While I waited for my new brake light up in the ceiling of the rear window, Ray explained to 3 different customers what they needed to consider for their vehicles and what it would cost and how fast they could do it. Having that kind of expertise is wonderful and thats why I go to him instead of the dealer.

Weve been going to Ray Frey for about 9 years now. I wouldnt trust anyone else to work our our cars. Ray is honest and upfront. He never tries to push anything extra on you or sell you on what could be done. Our cars run great (2003 Honda Accord V6 & 2008 Toyota Tacoma). If we ever have any issues, we can drop off our cars the night before and we get them back the next day, which is very convenient. We moved from Kearny Mesa to San Marcos and still take our cars to Ray, knowing that his work is honest, fast and affordable.

What I love about coming to Ray Frey for all my car trouble needs is that they dont give me any BS. My general experience is they tell me whats wrong with my car, what I can put off and what to expect if I ignore their get-this-done-immediately advice. I appreciate that I never feel like Im being sold things I dont need. Preventative care is important but if its something I can put off until my next payday, they totally get it and dont push me to do anything I dont want. I trust the people at this shop with my current car and any car I might have in the future. Theyve got a customer for life.

I had an srs light come on my Volvo could only be reset by a particular scanner. I called Volvo of San Diego and they wanted $139 to turn it off. I called Ray Frey when a friend recommended them, and Ray told me to bring it in and he could try and fix it. He was upfront that he could not guarantee his readers could do it, but told me he wouldnt charge me if he couldnt do it (an option not offered by the Volvo dealer). I took it in and he had one of his techs clear it in ten minutes. When he was finished he said that he didnt need to charge me for that 10 minutes of his time. I am confident, that experience wouldnt have been the same at Volvo. Thank you Ray.

I now take my three vehicles to Ray for regular service as well as for needed repairs. I have learned over the years that Rays shop is always fair in terms of cost and always excellent in terms of service. I have never been taken advantage of and have never had a bad experience going on 6 years!Their entire staff works together as a team––from the front office people to the actual mechanics, so the left hand definitely knows what the right hand is doing at all times.I have never had to bring back a car back to Rays for any reason after receiving service; the job gets done, and it gets done professionally and on time! So I went there because they had the cheapest smog I found after calling around. Very friendly and fast and at the end they washed my car. Best all around service at a car shop Ive ever received, honestly.

So much time taken by them to finish my car, I dropped it off at 10:00 am and was told it would take about an hour or an hour and a half. Nope two and a half hours later still waiting for my car to be done.

I have been going to Ray Frey Auto Center inc. for years with prior cars until no longer cost effective to repair. Then I bought a new used Buick 2007 LaCrosse from CarMax I had Rays top mechanic Miles do a complete check out of the car and then asked CarMax to make some repairs . That was 3 years ago, I bought the extended warranty and Rays folks have been doing any work and all the routine maintenance of the LaCrosse. I was also in a minor accident an Ray referred me to their Bay Shop who did a great job as well as a rental car company which I got their shop rate on a car. When I went on a road trip Rays Shop Manager Pete did a safety check and go the car ready for the drive to Tucson, also determined that I needed to replace the Michelins I had moved over from my last Buick Park Avenue, So while the safety check was being finished they called the manager at the Discount Tire and made an appointment and got me in to 4 new Michelins and gave me some credit from wear less that miles driven. Plus there is always the included hand wash and the great customer service from the entire team at the Ray Frey Auto Center from the Front Office Ray and Pete and rest two women who help with billing and parts. My entire family has gone or does go to Ray Frey at some point when they didnt have new cars under factory maintenance and even then for oil and routine maintenance often cheaper. Ray is a nice guy, but one of their mechanic is Rude as F***. They charge an $100 hour labor. I went there to get my van lights check because it decided to not work. And they couldnt find a problem and gave me a choice to make them check on the wires continuously while I pay $100 an hour. Never again. Oh, and they mentioned that my car was a POS.I mean I know my car is a POS, but during the time of stressing with car problems, please dont.

Worst service ever! Took my car to extract a spark plug and they werent able to remove, but still charged me two hours of mechanic labor, which was 100 dollars. I paid 60 dollars to have the car towed to the shop because they said they could do the job. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! Its overpriced and the mechanics are no good. I have another mechanic who is charging me less for actually getting the job done! TAKE YOUR CAR SOMEWHERE ELSE!
