Ive been taking art classes at the studio for a few years and have loved every minute. This year, Ive been taking classes on Zoom and have learned even more than I expected. Im not a Zoom fan in general...I prefer the in person experience. But, I must say Prima Materia has done an outstanding job recreating the learning environment online. And maybe even more importantly, the sense of community the studio has always had, may have even grown stronger online. Its such a pleasant mix of art instruction, formal and informal, plus meaningful and fun discussions with other members.Recently, I signed up for a one-on-one critique/review of one of my paintings with Olya. I wasnt sure if the painting was done. Actually, I WANTED it to be done, but knew it was lacking in a few areas. Olyas review was SO helpful! Olya delivers her critique with the perfect mix of positive feedback and helpful suggestions on how to take your work to the place where you are confident it is done. I would definitely recommend a one-on-one session for any artist who is stuck, or questioning their work, or for those artists who wont stop until they are truly satisfied with what they have created. As an artist, it is natural to doubt your work...is it good?....is it done? A session with Olya will leave you with what you need, whether thats help solving a problem, validation with a concept, or maybe just confidence in your own abilities. Cant recommend highly enough!

Prima Materia Institute is giving college level of education to the beginner and quickly advancing you to intermediate and advanced. They are kind, constructive and give you the tools to see reality and depict it. Each lesson teaches a new approach to art so you can develop your own voice and style. They teach art history through doing. To see what I have made since COVID alone, visit audrey_eisele_art on Instagram. Except for a couple personal projects there, the rest were all taught in 2020.

I took a beginning drawing class taught by Nikusha, and it was wonderful! I really liked how she set out the class goals and her responsibilities as the teacher right at the beginning. She really personalized the feedback and help that each student got, too, and it was very helpful. I could really see how I improved over the course of the class! And then at the end, she found things to genuinely compliment each student about on their finished drawing. She didnt seem like she was struggling to find something nice to say, either. She really did have something positive to say about every students drawing. This was very encouraging, and it says a lot about her teaching style -- very warm and positive. One other thing that I liked was how she tied what we were doing in the classroom to the larger world of art by showing us famous paintings and examples from all kinds of artists. All in all, it was a wonderful experience, and I cant wait to take another class!

I have not used these services yet. However, when I called to inquire about painting lessons, I appreciated the direct, no nonsense interaction with the man that answered the phone.Proper instruction always includes a teachers expectations from students...it was clear that was the case.

We took a beginning drawing class. The instruction by Kinusha was exceptional. There were many tips to help you see your art object so that you could draw what you see. Discussion of techiques as well as encouragement to let your ideas run free, like when we were children. Fun. We are going back for more.

Love. Love, love, love, love, love. I took the beginning sewing class last week having never touched a machine before, and I never knew it could be so fun, easy, and un-grandma-ish. Carmen taught the class, and she is awesome. Between her beautiful tattoo art, laid back attitude, and whiskey sipping, stuffy old lady she is not. We made a beer koozie and sock monster, and now Im just trying to figure out how to convince my husband to buy me a sewing machine for Christmas. Im conspiring with a few friends to sign up for more classes, and the only tough part is what to choose. Cheese making? Pies in a jar? Quilting? All skills that I never knew I needed but now my life wont be complete without them.

REALLY...lolMy congratulations to Nikusha....In 3 hours, I actually learned what drawing was all about and succeeded in making my first piece of art!I learned far more than I expected coming into the class and picked up an appreciation for Art from a different view point that I will use going forward. Quite amazing and very informative....Dont ponder taking the class....TAKE IT! And they have so many other classes too, so there is something for everyone. Enjoy!

Helpful and a bit freeing, sometimes pointing out the obvious is the best lesson! I really like the collaborative atmosphere of the studio...everyones working on their own thing, and obviously supportive of each other.
