This place has amazing food. The salad is so fresh, its literally vegetables picked from their own garden. The dressing is flavorful and unique. I recommend also getting a combo platter to try every delicious dish and a moringa shake. Be prepared to wait as its made frlm scratch to order. Sometimes they even have to pick and wash the veges for the salad.
Recently reopened with limited capcity, WBC center offers delicious outdoor dining serving dishes from various cultures. Cant wait for the complete reopening as inside the center has a collection of art and a stage for musical performances. If youre in town swing by south end of Balboa Park, located on Park Blvd.
Vegan fare delicious! Try the Ethnobotany Salad straight from their garden!
Always beautiful! Jamaican vegan food on the weekends. Lovely people.
Exceptional experience, food fantastic.
This place is great. Its has a cafe with unique foods and vegetarian options. Theres a museum section with artifacts. A stage with performances, lessons, kids events, and traveling events all year. They have unique events that represent different cultures on our globe. The people working here are friendly and are excited to share their culture, stories, and even recommend a menu item. Stop by and dont forget to leave a donation so they can keep hosting free and low costs events.
I always feel like I am ho.e when I share with Makena and friends ❤❤🖤💚
So much to offer from all types of events. In a perfect location being next to the San Diego zoo. Used to be a make up artist and photographers take most of their pics at Balboa w so many great spots to shoot them. Have always loved this extensive park

A creative impactful experience!A place for all to embrace the wonderful artists and profound works that take place here ! Love the events here always cultivating culture
Sweet spot! Checked it out on an off day but definitely will have to come back for a show. Lots of events and the girl working there was super chill. And cute!
World Beat cultural center is a big round covered structure in Balboa Park that presents different events and activities. I started attending their free yoga class held every Wednesday from 5_6 pm, very nice and laid back for all different levels with a great instructor. If you like yoga this class would be ideal . It is free, certified instructor and gentle. World beat center is located around 2100 park blvd by childrens playground.
The event was really nice. Great atmosphere and great energy amongst the people at the event.
Beautiful Center for cultural and community activities. Always something good going on. Beautiful Center on inside too. Great Healthy Food and Vegan options as well.
Beautiful place! Has a little food kiosk(mostly organic products and delicious, by the way), historical yet artisticdisplays of African culture and welcoming staff. It immerses you in our heritage in the most pleasing way. They have dance lessons, summer camps, and a whole bunch off activities for adults and children alike. Exactly what youd expect from a cultural center.
Interesting cultural center with a Vegan restaurant. Regular events and live music. Dancing and drum classes are among the things offered. Colorful interior.
Love it it makes u feel like your experiencing a new culture or revisiting one or two
The WorldBeat Center is an awesome place. They have so many inspirational and knowledgeable meetings there and its so cool. They have summer camp there and many more things
An amazing Place full of kind beautiful people and affordable healthy food. There is always some kind of wonderful dancers or drummers or some sort of activity happening. And they have a beautiful organic food garden that is just wonderful to stroll through.
I absolutely Love the World Beat Center! The vibe is Always positive and good!!
Wonderful place to learn culture of the African people and the transformation to African American people. More importantly embracing the shared strength blending and commonalities of the American people. If we know our history we can and will know of future!
What a fabulous repurpose for this building. There arent many places for kid bands to present themselves and this is a great facility.
This place is amazing! Definitely going back for the throwback reggae night! Its beautiful in there! Everyone is so inviting and so knowledgeable! Learn about your people!
Wow what a place. I was driving down park when I saw a sign for Kambucha so I went in. The first thing that caught my eye was the art work lots of African pictures drums instruments and paintings. I just would like to say thank you to the guys and gals that help keep this place afloat. My overall experience was very positive.
The food is always amazing! Though its vegan, Ive seen hard core meat eaters thoroughly enjoy themselves. The tiny museum/art gallery is simply beautiful. Mama Makeda is super kind and full of resources.
Been going here since Ive been a teenager, its all love!
I never knew there was a beautiful butterfly garden there. Loved it, so peaceful.

Theyve got amazing food and an incredible atmosphere. Lots of educational events about cultural awareness, health, and theyve got a beautiful garden with food, flowers, bird and butterfly watching. It is not a place you want to miss when visiting San Diego!!
So much peace and Love in this place!! Priceless

Its a great place to learn about some african history. Plus the menu is all vegan!! My husband whose not vegan even enjoyed the food. I think ita worth the trip and I recommend.
They have a great space for events and they work with you on every detail I highly recommend using this area.
This is always a great place to visit in Balboa Park. The best kept secret is the food though. Vegetarian and everything is amazing.
Great vegan food, best rices around. I recommend the coconut curry tofu. They are also friendly, this place really made my day both times I visited on my way into the park.
Amazing Friday Night market with local artist and vendors
I’m not typically one for vegan food but omg it was great. When we arrived there was a class for traditional African drumming and music. I was sitting and watching with my toddler and the instructor told me to join in. I had a lot of fun smacking the drum. We also ordered a young coconut. Ended up ordering another it was so freakin good. I definitely want to go again. Staff was super friendly.
The World Beat Center is a great place for art, culture, music, and dance in San Diego
A cultural center in the midst of an urban setting. Home to many childrens services, artists, culture classes and the like. The backdrop and home of the San Diego Heirloom seedswap as well as the setting for numerous other seed sovereign projects. This place has a stellar cafe, and is complete with a childrens ethnobotany peace garden where produce is grown year round for the cafe and as well as for the community to learn in.
Great venue for live music and festivities! Nice Kumbucha bar! Awesome friendly service!
Nice place to visit, and the food is good, but service was slow.
Very good sound & lighting! Great performances! Pleasant crowd ! Great vibes!
Great place and events. Food service is not organized. They did not have a lot on the menu. The waitress did not know the menu and could not really answer our questions.

A very interesting art exhibit was up when we visited; check to see what’s on the program before coming. The center also has a small healthy/veggie food & drink menu.
Amazing place for music and history. Great reggae vibes.
This renovated 1 million gallon water tower on the edge of Balboa Park was repurposed and revitalized by the vision and hard work of Makeda Cheatom, the World Beat Center Team, and the loving community that surrounds it. Over 23 years later it’s doors have been open every day to all people, regardless of color or creed, as a place to celebrate all cultures, all art, all music, all dance, and all people. With the inside walls covered in murals by local artists brightly commemorating important leaders and historical cultures, there are multiple galleries and small shops within the building serving healthy local foods, locally sourced goods, and a gallery of art and artifacts. Flags of all the nations are flying from the ceiling while the stage and dancefloor have been host of hundreds of famous and upcoming acts, artists, and events to the delight of tens of thousands of fans and attendees.Known throughout California and Mexico for its exterior murals celebrating Egyptian, African, and Indigenous Cultures, the WorldBeat Center is leading as one of the most-important multicultural art and event centers in San Diego.
