Stopped by on a Monday morning and waited less than 5 min for the previous inspection to wrap up. I was happily on my way less than 15 min after that. Professional service and prompt. Couldnt ask for anything more.

If you’re looking to get a smog test and/or having issues with figuring out why your car won’t pass, this is where you should go. Period.It’s SO hard to find car/mechanic businesses that are genuine, trustworthy, and not shady like we all know most tend to be. I drive an ‘05 mustang and was referred to Sean’s business planet smog check by a trusted mechanic when my first smog test in Costa Mesa didn’t pass. I had a check engine light with really strange codes (just sensors but no visible issues when checked).Sean helped me to fix this in a very honest + transparent way. The quickest and most professional smog service Ive ever had. I brought my 35 foot RV in to get emissions tested and he jumped in the driver seat and positioned the RV for me. He is a surprisingly good RV driver. After his speedy emissions test, he even turned the RV around for me so I could easily pull away. I would definitely use Planet Smog again. I’ve followed Sean from his previous location because he fully understands customers appreciate honesty, technical expertise and convenience when entering the ever-changing smog certification world. Although he doesn’t mind me watching him perform the smog test, I’m sure he would prefer I sit in the clean waiting area with a TV monitor and free bottled water. Planet Smog Check is an SC gem!

Great experience and quick service, as soon as I drove up to the location he welcomed me and directed me to drive up to one of the lanes. Overall it took about 10 minutes to complete the Smog check and get back in my truck. He informed me about the coupon on his website and saved me $10. Planet Smog is close to the DMV in San Clemente. Good to know if you notice that your car needs a smog certificate just as you arrive to renew!

Had my car inspected by Sean and he found the reason for my engine light being on. After he worked on it for 15 minutes the light was off, he told me to drive for a couple days and to come back. My car passed smog and he didnt charge me for the diagnosis/repair. I had been putting off my engine light thinking that it was going to be very expensive, but he easily took care of it. Had I known Sean could fix it I would have come in much earlier.

Right about the halfway point in my daily commute to Irvine Ive found that coming south this station is consistently the lowest in the area, also is the easiest to get in and out of even during rush hour. I never stop by here in the day time so I cant comment on the garage, but the interior is as expected, older, run of the mill, poor selection.Their pumps are generous in spacing, not crammed and easy to maneuver. I find the pumps to under pump. My tank is consistently filling 2 gallons less than full, but the pump stops due to the overfill valve. They could use more windshield squeegies and more trashcans. There is a cold evening breeze though the station that is weird too.

Zero Stars!!! Dont Go to these Crooks for a smog check under any circumstances!!! They use a coupon to get you in the door, but then the younger guy who claims to be a mechanic, tries to bamboozle you into believing that there is something wrong with your car ... this putz told me my BMW was missing a second catalytic converter, and he ostensibly climbed under the car to take a picture to show me that it was cut off. ... He told me the car wont pass for he wont lie on the Gov. form about the vehicle having 2 catalytic converters! I bought the car brand spanking new cost me $70K and it has always been garaged at my home, and I had smog done 2 years ago at another station in San Juan Capistrano, so there were no problems of any sort ... I told the dude he was clueless and he climbed under the car once again and suddenly discovered the missing catalytic converter ... After that I simply could not place any trust in anything this shmendrik said, and he came up with a dozzy!!! He told me that my battery has been disconnected or something in the past 150 miles ... and that my vehicles history does not register ... That was the final straw! I had my battery replaced 4 years ago with an OEM battery from BMW and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the battery or anything of the sort ... So then this prigg demanded that I pay the $32 for the test and when I refused to pay, he called another iranian - the station owner, and he told me they charge regardless of whether the vehicle passes or not ... Long story short ... I paid these retards and got the key, but I cancelled the payment through my credit card .... Yada, yada ... Dont go there & dont waste your money, they will make sure you do not pass and have to come back and pay the second time ... I went to another station M&M Smog, next to 99 cents store, on Pico Cyn, (530 Pico Plaza) the guy who runs the place - Robert, is an honest guy and treated me well!!! I showed him the paperwork from these Valero crooks, and he tested my car and told me that it passed without any problems ... He was polite, quick and a pleasure to deal with. I will only go there from now on!!!
