Ive been going to 5 Star Dental for years and the service they bring to their patients is amazing. The staff greets you with a smile, making sure you are comfortable and at ease. Ive always witnessed this on my regular checkups and you really appreciate the service when theres a Sunday emergency. I called Dr. Gilbert and with a quick assessment to make sure I didnt need to go in right then and there, I was seen, first thing, the very next day. Everyone was amazing and I left there with more confidence than when I went in. Dr. Gilbert placed temporaries on my damaged teeth and I can smile and speak without feeling uncomfortable. 5 Star dental Group is just that, 5 Stars!!! They only take one patient at a time and they treated me like a VIP! I got a tour of the dental office and I have never gotten that before. Everyone knew my name. They were ready and prepared for me. All the staff was exceptional, they listened to me thoroughly explain my issues before answering. I have been here many times and I don’t know about you but going to dentist gives me anxiety regardless of why I’m going. Dr Tostado puts me at ease right away. He explains step by step what is happening and patiently answers all of my questions. He is fantastic. Dr. Tostado is gentle and he takes time to listen to your concerns. As well, his staff is very thorough and make you feel comfortable.I needed a new crown, and since it is for one of the front teeth, it is important to me that it matches the color/shade of the rest of the teeth.I am VERY happy with the result! Not only the new crown matches the color, it also has the right shape and fit. What’s more, it is all done in one visit.I would highly recommend dr. Tostado and his team!

I have been going to 5 Star Dentral (formerly Carlson Dental) for several years. The efforts of MaryJo, Karen, and Dr. Carlson have been significant in giving me good reason to believe I had f-i-n-I-l-l-y found my dental care home. They are like family for me. MaryJo and Karen are incredibly funny and they certainly are unusual. Why? Because the tolerate my story jokes if nothing else. I simply would not trade them for anything....they are priceless.

This was my best dental experience in 30 years! Everyone was so nice and helpful. Dr. Carlson was very nice, gentle, and explained every thing he was doing along the way. My wife and I drive about one hour and fifteen minutes, each way, and pass a lot of dentists traveling to 5 Star Dental Group and I have done so for about thirty-five years. Dr. Craig Carlson, DDS is only the second dentist I have ever seen in my life. While going to see a dentist is probably not the most pleasurable thing to have to do, I must say that Dr. Carlson and his staff make each visit as pleasurable and as painless as they possibly can. I have been coming to Dr. Carlson for around 15 years. Dr Carlson has always been so update on new technology, and friendly. I enjoy walking into the office and being greeted by such friendly front office staff, Mary Jo is great at answering any questions you may have an getting you scheduled quickly. Vikki is so friendly and caring. She always makes me feel so welcomed and she is very attentive to my needs. Nora is always efficient, friendly and very attentive to the special needs you may have. Each person that enters 5 Star Dental Group leaves feeling as if they just finished having coffee with a friend and not like they are leaving a dental appt.

Since I retired the office has improved greatly. ;-)

I do not do pain--and neither do they! I have had cleanings, root canal and crown--all painless. Friendly, lovely people from front desk to hygienist to assistants and Dr. Carlson himself. If anything, they are TOO thorough, if that is possible. They have my full recommendation.

Dr. Carlson was my childhood dentist until I moved out of San Antonio in 98. When I moved back in 09 as an adult, I couldnt have been happier to go back to him! When I had cavities as a teenager, other dentists that I went to just stuck a needle into my mouth and expected me to be able to sit still! Ouch! But Dr. Carlson has a genuinely pain-free method of dealing with cavities that I was shocked by--because it didnt hurt at all! (If you have kids, you can feel good about taking them to this dentist because you can honestly tell them it wont hurt). The entire staff is so friendly, and even ask follow-up questions about previous conversations from previous appointments (how is your dog doing since he was sick? Did you get that project done at work?), which is almost unheard of anymore. They treat their patients like family and you can feel entirely comfortable knowing that the well-being of your teeth and mouth are in this teams hands! Thank you 5 Star Dental!

Great staff and topnotch dentist! In addition to getting me into the office with 24 hours, I experienced three miracles while I was there: 1) Affordable repair rather than costly replacement; 2) Dr. Carlson delivered the pain-free shot that he promised; 3) I left the office with a delicious chocolate chip cookie. Today was my first visit to 5 Star Dental. I went in to get the OralID exam. Right off the bat, you could tell this place is a cut above the rest. I was greeted by a super friendly staff who took me on a tour of the facility to meet everyone, including Dr. Carlson. Everyone was super friendly, knowledgeable, and I even got a welcome gift bag! Several of the staff had been there for years and I could see why. The equipment is state of the art, the facility is super clean and modern, and the exam was extremely thorough and not rushed. I was able to ask all the questions I had, given detailed answers and was not rushed at all. Needless to say, this is where I will go from now on for my dental needs here in San Antonio. I cannot think of one Con about 5 Star Dental. They certainly live up to their name!

Ive been going to Dr. Carlson and his team for over 10 years now because they are amazing. Their hygienists are great, Ive never had to wait, everything is like clockwork. Over the years Ive had a crown and multiple fillings performed by Dr. Carlson, and every time the experience has been quick and painless. I would recommend 5 Star Dental to anyone!

The staff were warm and friendly; they were the most personable dental professionals I ever met. But, I wish my dental situation would have been more clearly explained. I did not know what all of my options were, and their likelihood of success. I also did not receive any estimate on the ultimate cost of the various treatments. So, I left not knowing any more than when I arrived. My concern for an exposed tooth was summarily dismissed. Given that some of these treatments take many months, it is not safe or wise to walk around with an exposed tooth.

It was my first time going to a dentist in Texas since I moved there and I cannot say anything but GREAT things! They offer so many accommodations that make you feel comfortable and there is no need to feel the typical afraid of the dentist feeling. They answered all questions I had and I cant thank them enough for their expertise and friendly personalities.

Growing up, I had the absolute worst, most horrific experiences going to dentists. I had so much painful, unnecessary work done and by the age of 17 I had decided I was never stepping foot into another dental office again. By the age of 32 I knew my teeth were in dire need of attention. My father assured me that he found the BEST dentist and promised me Id be at total ease with Dr. Carlson & his staff. After much research and talks with my dad, we decided Dr. Carlson would be the one Id go to and confide in. Walking into my consultation, anxiety high, I began to feel a weight lifting off of my shoulders as I met the staff. They calmed me down instantly as they make you feel like family upon introduction. As I spoke with Nora, one of Dr. Carlsons assistants (bless this amazing woman) that weight which had been weighing down my entire being the past 17 years of my life began to lift even more. She insisted there is no challenge too big for the doctor and showed me several before and after photos of previous clients. Of course my biggrst fear was the pain which may be involved in my procedure. She smiled and told me with such confidence that I wouldnt feel a thing. When it was time to meet the man who would potentially be reconstructing my smile, I found myself more excited then nervous. His gentleness, kindness, presence and level of professionalism were more than a relief for me. I knew in that moment that I was exactly where I was supposed to be. A couple weeks later, I am finally able to smile freely and laugh without covering my mouth. I could not have dreamed of owning a more beautiful smile, and guess what? I didnt feel a thing.I owe Dr. Carlson & his staff more than I could ever give. I am eternally grateful for them. Dr. Carlson is a perfectionist and an incredible artist. Not only that, he genuinely cares for his clients. If you want a perfect smile you dont have to keep searching. He can make your dreams come true!

I had been to several dentists before I found Dr Carlson. 5 Star Dental is seriously amazing! The staff was so nice and friendly and make you feel comfortable throughout any cleaning or procedure. They utilize laser and sonic technology for cleaning which apparently has been around for a decade, but none of th other dental offices I had been to utilized it.The biggest thing is my TMJ issues being resolved. I really didnt realize that I was getting so many headaches and had so much pain on a daily basis from TMJ! I only mentioned it to Dr Carlson because I usually have to use a little block during treatment. I went from taking ibuprofen every day, to not taking any at all. I cant believe the difference. After years of ongoing daily pain, it was just part of my day, I didnt really notice it any more. I wouldnt have believed my pain could have been eliminated by a dentist! Dr Carlson is seriously the best!
