Very professional and quality work done for a fair price. I got box braids at medium size and they were done in four hours! This is officially my shop to have braids done. They are organized and have a decent selection of hair and colors to choose from. Theyre definitely worth every bit of 5 stars!

My hair was nice but I was told 2 different prices on the phone because the guy that answered needed to see a picture I never showed him a picture I showed it to the lady that did my hair but before I got there he already told her the higher price without seeing what I wanted that wasn’t okay I will never go there again

My experience was very bittersweet. I had an appointment at 8 am, confirmed through email and my stylist didn’t show up until 8:45 am (mind you they actually open up at 9 am). The place also offered a %20 percent off coupon for first time clients. However, upon asking to use the coupon I was lied to, stating it was only a special for during the week. Which was not stated anywhere on their website. The good part is they finished my hair in a timely manner. My braids in the front are nice but the ones in the back are not neatly tucked. Unfortunately I will not be going back.

Ive been to the salon twice. The first experience l was there as a walk in. I was acknowledged and given a time for service. The finished product/hair braid was beautiful and completed in a timely manner. The staff was nice. Second visit was for a 6 week touch up and shampoo. I received so many compliments. If you want simple braids than its not bad but if you want anything creative please save your money and time because I showed them a picture of the style I wanted 15x and it still didnt come out right BOTH times. The service is horrible and they dont keep appointments. The 1st time i went was the only time i had no complaints. But the 2ND time i went the store was ran by teenagers who obviously had no knowledge of appointments and prices. 3rd time i had an 8am appointment and no one showed up until 930 almost. Theyll have 5 people booked for 10am with only 2 stylish smh

Im very disappointed with the service I received. If you ever get your hair done here make sure they show you the first braid before they proceed and give you a price. They try to get over on you as if its your first time getting braids. I cant make the whole place look bad it was just the person I had who I wasnt happy with.

My hair is 1-2 inches long. I wanted micro braids so bad but thought it would be impossible. I called them, sent them a picture, and they text back and said We can do it, to my amaze not only did they do a terrific job, 2 of the 5 of them were able to do my short hair within 4-5 hours at a decent price. After reading another customers review, I noticed that I wasnt the only one who had a bad experience at this braid salon.I met Ms. Josephine at the shop and showed her a picture of the type of braid style I desired. Not only did I schedule an appointment, I purchased bags of hair in the color I desired., was not allowed to take the hair home, I was told not to worry they hold it. My appointment with Ms. Josephine was scheduled at 10am, but I had to wait because she was working on someone else. I thought she was my stylist, but little did I know, when I stepped into the salon room, she assigned me to another lady and told her to start and that she would assist once she finished with her customer.I asked for medium size braids and since I was not facing a mirror, I was unaware that my braids turned into boxed braids in several different colors they had available. By the time Ms. Josephine showed up it was too late to correct my braids. Little did I know, they didnt use my hair I purchased, they used what they had on their shelves and LOTS of it. During the course of the day, I ended up with 3 stylist working on my head. Not only did I waste $175, but they wanted to charge me for the hair I had already purchased.Buyers beware of this salon.

I have cornrows as a result of them not being able to do knotless braids. I made the appt a month in advance and showed pictures and it was not until the appt they said they couldn’t do it. I opted for straight backs and still got something else. They are not straight and uneven. I am not happy with my braids and I will not go back. I want neatness and accuracy so I will have to look for another braiding salon. They were nice but I also want the look I’m going for when I’m paying my hard earned money.

I waited about a week before posting my review because I wanted to give an accurate assessment for my sisters and brothers who are from out of state and are temporarily in San Antonio. Headmasters is located about a good 30 minutes from the base. I called to request a appointment and to my surprise the nice lady (I apologize dont remember her name) schedule me an appointment for the very same day after 5 pm. (2 stars) I arrived a few minutes late and they were patiently waiting. (+1 star=3 stars). My hair is cut in a tapered short style so before the younger female began she advised me that they may start to come out. She seemed really hestitant but the older lady told her its ok she will help. The younger female did an excellent job as she only braided the longer portions she felt comfortable doing. The older lady braided the short parts. They finished in 4 and a half hours (1 star=4 stars) When she was about done I started feeling around the back of my head and instantly a braid fell out. When they put it up in a pony tail I am 100% sure they saw that braid out because my hair is not that short and the braid was lying on the floor. I didnt realize until I got home that they didnt bother to fix it. 1 week later and all the braids that the older lady did has fallen out (a good portion of the back of my head) Im not going to say dont go here thats your decision. I paid $230..so I am not happy but it is your choice.

Last week I took my sew in down. I had been rocking my natural hair for a while however it was time for some braids. I searched the website on a few places I could go get braids done but most of the places I called was just so expensive. I almost gave up on getting braids but I had one last place to call on my search list, Headmasters African Hair Braiding. And as soon as I called the lady Josephine was very pleasant. She was able to provide me with a reasonable price and accomendated me with a next day appointment. I had not even got my hair done yet and already I was pleased with the service.During my hair appointment the other workers there were all so nice and friendly. Rarely do you go to a salon the other Hairstylists even acknowledge you since you are not their personal client. But nope not at Headmasters, all of the Hairstylists were very friendly. I do not remember the specific Hairstylist name that worked on my hair but she was very pleasant and professional. At the first start and half way through she would hand me the mirror to make sure I was loving the progress. And she periodically asked if I was okay or needed to use the restroom. I appreciated that so much.What I also liked about Headmasters was that all the other Hairstylist on their spare time jumped on my hair to help finish braiding my hair done. Talk about team work making the dream work(well maybe not the dream but definitely making the clients experience a great one). I got my hair done exactly how I wanted it, it was done professionally and efficiently. I just only wished I wasnt on a tight budget otherwise I would have liked to tip all of them.In the past I have got my hair braided by other people but the thing that separated this time from all the other times was the overall Experience I received at Headmasters African Hair Braiding. I had a great experience here. I went in requesting Senegalese twists, but had very specific instructions to leave out my hairline and I wanted each twist to have a good amount of my natural hair included so that it wouldnt pull on my roots. The stylist was awesome, she adjusted and re-adjusted the twist until I felt comfortable with the amount of hair used. I was nervous about getting the twists at all because Ive had such horrible experiences in the past, but the work they did was amazing. It lasted longer than expected and never really got that frizzy look that happens with many twists. And the best part was that I had very minimal shedding when I took it out!! I plan to go back every few months for this style!

I AM NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN. Two weekend ago I got the faux lock braids AND ALMOST ALL OF THEM ARE COMING OUT. When I called them they said that was normal! NO THE HAIR ON TOP OF MY BOX BRAIDS SHOULD NOT BE FALLING OFF! This cost 350 dollars !!! I will never waste my money on this place again, and I will be sure to get my money back

Went here and got my braids done. However, this time it was not like my usual time. My hair was done but then once I got home a braid fell out. I went to get them redone and they fixed it. However, this time they cut it they didnt even make sure the braids were secure. I had to come home and put my own hair under boiling water. I have been loyal to headmasters for 2 years. However, after this time of getting my braids done. I will not be returning. Hair was pulling in different directions and I didnt get the best work done.

The service at the shop was absolutely wonderful, I hate to have to write a bad review, but it should be a concern when getting your hair done. I requested jumbo box braids, and did not received what I asked for as I got small to medium sized box braids. Also, I had an appointment 11am, and did not leave until after 8pm, as they started sweeping, taking the trash out, and locking the doors while I am still in the chair getting my hair braided the wrong size. For my bad experience and extra time that I spent, I received only $10 off, which is still $170. The operator of the shop was very nice, but I have to say, if you want to be sure you are getting the right braid size, feel on your head as they are doing the process. I regret not looking in the mirror early on in the process. Let me mention again that they were very sweet people. They noticed that the beautician did do my hair wrong, yet could not fix it as it was so far along.

Showed the hairstyle I wanted on my ipad and cell phone. Nothing fancy just wanted all my hair in cornrows out my face and in a bun in the back. Well after sitting there nearly 3 hours. I was asked by the owner did I like curls. I said yes, but I requested all my hair to be braided off my face in a bun in the back. Well you know what the owner told me to my face. The girl braiding my hair did not know how to braid straight back. That is when I said if she could not do the style requsted after we agreed what I WANTED. She should have STOPPED and called YOU over so we could come to a mutual understanding. I told her this is bad business. Not only did I had to endure a bad hair style but I had to smell a stinky woman braiding my hair. The owner laughed but when it came to pay I was not laughing. I was very upset. And she said the best she could do was take 20.00 off a style I did not care for nor did I ask for So When asked about Headmasters I say stay away the customer is not top concern.

Went for 2 feed in braids and it was the worst Ive ever had done. Idk how you can message up 2 braids but it happened. I told her what direction I wanted them to go but she did it her own way, braids were uneven from start to finish. And I was charged 35$. If your looking for a place to go and get something quick like I was. ..keep looking!
