My wife and I stayed at the Inn for a 4 day weekend, visiting San Antonio. The Inn is located in just the best spot to use the Riverwalk in all its forms, from the party of the central areas to the biking in the South near the Missions. It was simple and easy from the Inn to use electric bikes and scooters to pretty much get where we wanted. Now the Inn itself is a tad much on the shabby side. These are old houses I get it, but cleaning and maintaining the structure should be a must, for that very reason they are old. Rotten wood decks, not sweeping or cleaning porches and broken furniture should all be addressed by the owners. The room we stayed in lacked much charm, though the king bed was quite comfy.Typically when we opt to stay at a B&B, we have expectations for the breakfast, nice muffins, pastries etc. plus some hot dish or dishes. Our breakfasts here was merely comprised of scrambled eggs, toast and bacon/sausage. Simple but not quite to B&B standards in our opinion.
This is such a beautiful little Inn. The Lone Star Suite is not huge, but perfectly quaint, with a massive bathtub. (Score!) Breakfast here is absolutely delicious. And the folks here were able to accommodate us within a couple of hours. In future I would book directly through the Inns website instead of through booking.com. The area around here is lovely and feels completely safe walking around late at night. I will happily return!
Right on the Riverwalk, several little room options to choose. We rented it out for a wedding and had SO MUCH FUN!!
This was my second stay in this bed and breakfast, but definitely wont be the last. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms are very comfortable, and breakfast is delicious! The location is perfect, with access to the Riverwalk literally a few steps away. There are a ton of great restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. I stayed in the San Jose room, which has a fireplace and an amazing bathtub. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing or romantic stay on the Riverwalk.
A quiet, beautiful, relaxing & right by the riverwalk bed & breakfast. Its only a 5-10 min walk to downtown. Youre central to everything. We stayed in the Yellow Rose Penthouse. Private balcony, jacuzzi tub, view of the city & the riverwalk. It was perfect for my husband and I on our little getaway/babymoon. It is an older, more rustic themed Inn. We thoight it was charming. Thank you!
Absolutely amazing. They were very accommodating and super sweet! The breakfast was so delicious. Would definitely recommend them and will be staying again!!
Room is very nice. And breakfast also. Good place .
Best place on the Riverwalk.. breakfast is amazing. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Love the charm and location of this B&B! Super cute, cozy room that was clean and perfect for my hubby and I. Perfect location on the quiet side of the riverwalk, but close enough to walk wherever you want to go. Delicious made to order breakfast and fresh cinnamon coffee every morning. The owner was very nice and greeted us every morning, and the staff, super polite! They made sure everything was just as we wanted it to be. I highly recommend this place, for a weekend getaway and hope to visit again in the near future.
Had a great time staying here!! Our room was very clean, check in/check out was easy. The owner is so nice. Breakfast was delicious!! Great location!
Very nice. Excellent breakfast. Great staff . Definitely recommend
My husband and I stayed for our 12th wedding anniversary from Oct 9 through the 11th and it was absolutely amazing! The room was very clean and cozy!! Margaret and the staff cooked an amazing breakfast. The owner was very attentive to all of our needs. Everyone was welcoming!! We will definitely be back!!!
Hubby and I enjoyed our stay here. Every year for our anniversary, we like to stay at a local hotel and check out some of the events. We usually select a modern hotel, but we decided to try a bed and breakfast this year. Man, have we been missing out! It felt like home away from home. Peaceful and quiet - right next to the river. And the breakfast and service were top notch, and the chickens and bunnies were a sweet touch. Although staff are not on site after 3pm, they reached out to us via text periodically and made themselves available if we had concerns. The only thing I would add is to have coffee and tea available in the dining room until 3pm before the staff leaves. And maybe let guests know about the board games available to play there. We are thinking about making this our permanent anniversary spot. We loved it that much. Thanks, Roland, for taking great care of the property and for taking the time to say good morning to your customers. Thats a sign of great leadership!
Front office manager was so helpful and patient during booking.
There are not enough words to describe how wonderful this place is! Its right on the River just far enough away from all of the mayhem so its quiet! The room was beautiful and super spacious! We also had our own little balcony and seating area. Breakfast is a must since it was so delicious! The staff was kind and helpful and the owner was incredibly sweet! Please stay here if you get the chance! Everything was on par. We will return!
Great personal touch for a quite stay right on the river. Roland is a gracious host.
Sooo scary during Covid! Communal balcony!
Beautiful, peaceful setting. Loved the old houses, staff, and the owner was fabulous. Truly belongs in the hospitality business. Cant wait to go back!
Great location, has its own parking lot. The rooms are nice with fans in both, but the bathroom is very small with no counter to put bathroom supplies on top. Its noisy when you walk around, so if anyone is moving you will hear it. Overall, a nice place to stay.
We stayed at the beautiful San Jose room. The bathroom has wonderful styling and a Jacuzzi tub. The beds and linens were great. Our group rented out the entire building. The hosts were incredible and cooked amazing breakfast every morning. A wonderful experience that wed love to revisit.
Great service. Friendly people. It was my family and I first time and they made us feel at home. I will be back.
Very close to the main activities at the riverwalk. The staff are amazing people that enjoy what they do. The breakfast was incredible and started the day off well. The ladies gave us suggestions for activities in the area and treated us just like family. On site parking is a plus too.Cant go wrong here.We would definitely come back.
Perfect location.Perfect breakfast.Spacious room and heavenly bed.Host gave great suggestions. This is a unique place.Right on the River with direct access to the Riverwalk and walking distance to main plaza but secluded and quiet away from crowds.
Staff was extremely nice and courteous. Room was clean, homey, and welcoming. The area is very nice and quiet. Located only 10 minutes away from restaurants, bars, and stores. They also serve breakfast. Overall very nice experience and we will definitely go back.
Absolutely wonderful stay. The room was gorgeous, the staff was friendly and helpful, and it was so close to The Riverwalk, that all of downtown San Antonio was easily accessible. Met the owner, who made it a point to talk to all the guests. Thats something you wont find with other big hotels. The room we stayed in was huge and well stocked. The bathroom was a smaller, but it was very clean. Breakfast also tasted wonderful. Great B&B, and I hope to go back.
A few ladies from my church took a girls trip for an overnight stay at the Inn on the Riverwalk and Margaret and Dr. Roland were so nice and accommodating. We loved the house and rooms, they were so charming. We will definitely be back. For a longer stay! Thank you Margaret and Dr. Roland for a wonderful stay.
Outstanding service from the host! Highly recommended!
The accommodations were great, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was tasty. We immensely enjoyed our visit. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!
Simply put — this is the best b&bs we’ve ever stayed at. Old but extremely well kept. So clean. Quaint and 3 minute walk to great restaurants and river walk. The water in the tub was cold first night but hoping the inn fixes it right away (hence the 4 star), The breakfasts are well thought and healthy. We are foodies and usually don’t care much for breakfasts but inn on the riverwalk is a cant miss. Staff are friendly and helpful. Paid for some extras: chocolate, strawberries, massage for wife, all worth it.I will update review and add more pictures after our trip.
We stayed in the Crockett room and enjoyed a beautiful unobstructed view overlooking the water. Unlike the hotel experience, you won’t find any dusty, overused, comforters on these beds. The sheets (on the comfortable beds) were pristine and the room smelled really nice. I loved the all wood furniture, slightly creaky floors, and the layers of paint on the wainscoting, along with the classic subway tiled bathroom. Breakfast was French toast, and it’s the best version of French toast that I have ever eaten! The owner and staff are really nice and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. Everything about this home was an experience worth having!
We stayed in the Inn on the Riverwalk for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Its in a perfect location to walk the Riverwalk see the stars experience the restaurants and nightlife and still get a good walk thats not going to be too crazy long. We will definitely be back. The room was comfortable had a beautiful deck overlooking the River Walk and parking was super simple.
I absolutely love this place! Its beautiful, the rooms and beds are cozy and its very conveniently located to many things. While we were here we were able to walk to the grocery store, the Tower of the Americas, the Alamo, the Main Plaza for the light show and of course everything going on along the riverwalk but its tucked away and quiet. The morning breakfast was always good and the staff friendly.
We really loved our stay at this quaint little hotel. The rooms are in old family houses that sit right on the river walk in a beautiful neighborhood. Theres tons of balcony space for lounging and the rooms are well appointed. The breakfast is excellent as is the friendly staff that takes care of the hotel! You can walk to the touristy part of the river or to the quiet nice neighborhoods. This is an absolute gem and it would be a shame to stay a chain hotel and miss this experience. Roland (the owner) will make you feel like your visiting family rather than staying in a hotel.
This place is a nice, quiet hidden sanctuary! The antique furniture, comfortable bed and clean bathroom was impressive! I’m sold on this little jewel. Already planning to go back.
We are not frequenters of B&B and at first impression I was concerned about close quarters. I was so wrong. The location was perfect - just outside of the busy walk and noise but close enough to get there in seconds! The Inn Keeper was so personable and our breakfast was hands down best breakfast in Texas! The room was decorated in antique furnishings but the bed was very comfortable and everything was spotless clean! I think the Inn was full and i didn’t hear a sound from other guests!Next time i will request an upstairs room with balcony view- can’t wait to return!!
If you would rather stay in a B&B instead of a chain hotel, choose this place! I was met by the owner, Roland, who is a very nice guy. He showed us around and made us feel at home. The location of this house is perfect because you arent right in the heart of the Riverwalk, so it is much quieter. The free parking and delicious home-cooked breakfast were huge perks.
A great old building just off the riverwalk. The staff and owner are the epitome of Texas hospitality. We will be staying here again .
**A Favorite For Sure****We WILL be back**If youre looking for a 5 star hotel feel, this is not the place for you. If youre looking for a perfectly quaint and quite place with stairs leading to the Riverwalk and homemade breakfast, then look no further. Youre home!We loved this little place right on the quiet side of the river. The staff was delightful and accommodating. They make fresh breakfast every morning. They made us feel like family. Dr. Roland Cavazos was also there every morning to meet and visit with his guests. We were very pleased with our stay and we will, most assuredly, be returning.❤ Big thanks to Dr. Roland and his staff ❤
A truly fantastic Inn. It was amazing to be so close to the downtown action (minutes walk away) and yet so peaceful sitting on the porch. The rooms were perfect, the owner and staff were super-friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious.I will definitely look for a room here next time Im in town.
Rooms were as advertised, location was great, close enough to walk, but far enough to ignore noise. Host is very approachable and friendly, but will not honor the $1.50 for first tooth and $0.50 sign thereafter. Pros: Very good location Reasonable sized rooms Good service Bathrooms updated Cons: Not all rooms are ADA friendly (no ramps) No covered parking, parking lot is dirt so rain can be a major problem No cheap dental care
Very good breakfast. I am not much of a wine drinker but I did enjoy the wine tasting with the meats and cheeses. Very friendly staff. Rooms were quaint and clean.
Place is beautiful, and cozy. Close walking distance from a lot. Staff was super friendly.
Fantastic!!! Roland made us feel like part of the family. We definitely will be back.
Great location right on the river. Quick walk to The shops and dining. We got in after hours but the owner happened to be here and was able to show us in and around. He is super kind. Great value for a hundred year old house!
My visit to the Inn was lovely. The owner and staff are incredibly warm and friendly and made us feel truly like welcomed guests. The home and property are cost and well-maintained, and the chicken coop across the way is charming. The view is serene, and the neighborhood is quite. We plan to stay here again next year.
I am so happy we found this perfect little bed and breakfast! The owner is so kind and informative and his daughter, Gabi, is a sweet heart! We stayed for two nights in the Travis suite and we were just walking distance from everything we needed. We will definitely be returning!
Very quiet and clean B&B. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The owner came every morning at breakfast time to meet the tenants . Nice man. We rented the Travis Suite with the three beds and it was quite comfortable although only having one chair in the room for the three of us. The only recommendation I would make is to have a parlor of sorts where you can sit in comfortable chairs and visit with others or just to get out of the room while waiting for others to get ready for the days adventures.
My boyfriend and I stayed in room 27 for the weekend and loved it! It was so cute and secluded, not to mention very clean! Breakfast tasted amazing both mornings and the staff was super nice. I would definitely recommend staying here!
LOVED the location!! ...its so easy to get downtown from the place. Just a skip and a hop and youre in the center of everything downtown - the Market Square, King Williams and the Alamo and main part of the Riverwalk. The staff were so sweet, Lydia is the kind older lady that helps cleans the rooms and shes always got a smile on her face! Breakfast was yummy! Just cant beat the convenience of being downtown, along with the quietness of the location. We will be back!
The food was fabulous. I never eat eggs and theirs were wonderful. I want the recipe. Love to have a history of the house and area available.
Its a bed and breakfast. And its awesome! Location, quality, just all around awesome... Oh, the selling point for me was the music during breakfast, as if they had chosen the music just for me.
The owner is hardworking and incredible. The staff is super friendly, and the location itself is a getaway paradise. Reconmended 100%. Far enough from the chaos downtown but within walking distance!
Like B&Bs of the past, friendly personable staff always willing to recommend great places to see and eat. It was fun to get acquainted with other guests as well. Good old fashioned hospitality!
Great service, breakfast and rooms. Stayed here last year and no complaints then either. As long as you dont mind small rooms and bathrooms its perfect.
The staff is extremely friendly. They make you and all the other guests feel like one big happy family. The food is delish, and the rooms are nice and cozy. The view from the balcony is awesome. Its quiet and relaxing. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a trip with friends. The location is literally on the river walk, so once u step outside, u can start the river walk and enjoy all that San Antonio has to offer, so wear your walking shoes lol. Any time I visit San Antonio, Im booking my stay with them! This visit was amazing!
A nice place in a good location close to the River Walk and downtown attractions, however far enough away to be quiet.
The onsight free parking was what sealed the deal for us. We stayed at the detached house across the street from the main house. The view and sounds right off the river walk were quite whimsical as we sat on the wrap around porch after midnight. I had requested for breakfast to be delivered to the room and it was perfect. The only think I was a little uncomfortable with was the thin curtains partnered with plastic miniblinds in a room within a few feet from the riverwalks pathway n main road was a lack of comfort n privacy during our stay.
Love this place!! The owner is so very nice! Our favorite place!
Having lived in SA for 4 years before, and visited multiple times since, this is the best way to stay downtown by the riverwalk. Quaint, simple, clean, great breakfast, very nice staff, walking distance to all things riverwalk, included parking...Far better than staying at a big hotel on the river and my wife agreed.
Very nice. Staff was wonderful. Thank you for having us!
We decided to have a “girls weekend” in San Antonio at the spur of the moment. This location was ideal. We walk everywhere this weekend. Its also tucked back in a quiet secluded part of downtown. We definitely want to come back…. This time with our significant others ;-)
Nice little B & B. Its a bit cozy perhaps, no door between the rooms so youll want to be comfortable with your roommates. Great location, would stay again.
Well run. Gourmet breakfast. Right on a perfect quiet stretch of the river.
Great place to relax and right next to the river walk
I come to the Inn On The River like every other year or so, and every time has been like a dream of relaxation, rest, tranquility and a no stress scenario. My husband and I usually celebrate our marrage here and always the penthouse. It has a jacuzzi tube, two private decks and a bed that feels like sleeping on a huge fluff pillow. They also have hot real breakfast for all the guests, plus coffee and oj. The staff is great and the owner is very friendly as well as welcoming, we had a late check in and he actually went to the car to offer his help. If your able to, stay in the third floor, its more for couples though, then it is for kids.😊😊😆
We walked by Inn On The Riverwalk just to see how it has changed since we stayed there for our honeymoon ten years ago. Its still beautiful.
A little over a year ago my wife and I placed a reservation for 4 nights at the Inn. 2.5 weeks before our stay we were contacted for an emergency placement for three children (ages 3,4, and 5) into our home - we are foster parents for CPS. We immediately called the Inn and they told us not to worry - since we had already paid half up front - just let them know when we wanted to reschedule our stay.We finally had the chance, after we arranged respite care for the children, to get away and stay at the Inn. I called, gave them all the information but was informed there was a change in management, they could find no records (even though I e-mailed them our confirmation info), and they would not honor the previous agreement. Oh yeah, we cant get our money back either.Obviously no one should ever give them business in my opinion.
Love the location and the service! Breakfast is great! Highly recommend
Great BnB. Looking forward to our return, asap.
Lovely place in a good spot. Ill be staying there again.
Very quaint, wonderfully kind staff and owner. Great location.
I love it.. Yes. Thank u. I stayed alone & it was very peaceful
Awesome staff, right on the river, home made breakfast, jacuzzi tub for two, balcony facing the river was perfect for late night conversations with my wife in the nice gently breeze
Great place to stay! Convenient location, wonderful breakfast and the owner is fabulous.
Nice rooms, breakfast is great and the owner is super nice.
Excellent place to stay. Super clean, friendly staff, and great breakfast!
I attended a wedding hosted here. The location is great, the setting is intimate, and I have nothing but glowing reviews!
This place is awesome! A bed and breakfast with a relaxed and country feel--but right in the heart of the city! The innkeeper/owner was the nicest and coolest host that anybody could wish for. He had great suggestions for local eating and sightseeing. His positive attitude and great enthusiasm for not only the inn, but just life itself, was infectious. And the entire staff was always happy and extremely willing to help with anything. Probably the best part, besides the location, was the freshly cooked hot breakfast each morning! The menu varied each day, but some of the choices were quiche (the best quiche ever!), eggs, omelets, chorizo, bacon (great bacon!), non-gmo wheat toast, home-made strawberry preserves, french-press coffee, tea selections, oatmeal, fresh fruit, etc. I cannot rave enough about the breakfasts. This bed and breakfast also had a great deck with chairs and a chiminea for relaxing. This would be a great place for groups, as they have several rooms available and enough parking. The dining area/relaxing area would be great for hanging out.
Lovely and worthwhile -- walk everywhere and enjoy the comforts of a perfect BnB
Upon arrival we were able to gain access to main house. Went to the room and the same code was not able to get us into room, had to call and get someone to come over and reprogram our code to our room. The next evening(late) when we arrived back to the Inn we were completely unable to access the main house. We called, called and messaged management and finally after nearly an hour sitting in the hot evening sun someone called and walked us through reprogramming our access to the Main house and our room. The rooms were not cool at all. Older house with air seeping thru the windows. The morning we were leaving I asked if I could get a cup of coffee to go, since we were not eating, and the lady who was supposedly cooking got a bit of an attitude. I walked over to the Kerug and it did not have water, I asked if they used bottle water or just regular water and again the lady got an attitude and went and got bottles of water and poured in there. The machine still did not work and after asking her again about the machine and getting ignored, though no one else was there but a gentlemen who I suppose knew the lady, saw she had a bit of an attitude, i gave up thru the Styrofoam cup and the Kerug pod in the trash and walked out! I guess its true...you get what you pay for!!!! Never again! I would NOT recommend this place at all... There was NEVER anyone at the desk or when you called you have to leave a message and hope they get back with you in a timely manner.
Very cozy, right on the river. Breakfast was outstanding!
Comfortable beds, delicious breakfast, friendly staff and nice location
Our 1st B&B experience...Awesome....we frequent san antonio and usually stay in downtown area hotels....tried inn on the river walk and hit a bullseye.. Staff are great...Roland the owner and Carol the all around busy body are fantastic people. Your a dang fool if you pass this relaxed atmosphere up.....oh and the most delish breakfast made by carol...Thanks to people of inn on the river walk for yalls hospitality...Mike longoria
Lovely and delicious breakfast! Right on the Riverwalk.
I visited this location for a wedding. The area is beautiful, and the staff was very friendly.
Quiet, comfortable and classy. I loved it.
Really great atmosphere, good visit.
Great location, staff, and buikding.
Great staff and breakfast.
