Sierra Home Services installed two new entry ways and doors in our garage giving us access to the back yard and mud room. The garage roof was sagging so he jacked up the roof, installed additional support beams and beefed up the support columns. We wanted an addition to our deck so we could have a view of the mountains and aces the back yard. He politely made design suggestions that turned out great. They had to deal with funky angles and terrain gradient issues. The addition that he installed looks all original and seamless. We have dogs and they always made sure the doors and gates were closed. If you are looking for a more than competent contractor that shows up on time everyday, works clean and efficiently, completes the job on time and on budget then Sierra Home Services is for you!

We hired Sierra Home Services to take down a kitchen wall, remove a staircase and install a staircase outside to our roof deck. I felt like they did a great job. There were times when I asked them to redo some things, but they did it and did it promptly. I gave them a 4 star rating just because there was a period of time were nothing was getting done, but everything was explained to us in detail as to who, what, where and why that happened and they fixed it! They have gone through some difficult experiences with some of their workers, but once that was taken care of, the guys who worked on our house were hardworking and did really good work!

We contracted with Bob/Sierra Home Services in October, 2018 to extend our garage and build an addition to our home over the garage. According to the contract, the substantial completion date was to be mid January. After a series of errors and turn over at Sierra Home Services, work finally started on our house in late January. We were given a new completion date of March 31. March 31st came around and we were missing a roof over our garage and had a big mess in our backyard, but no real progress. We were given a new completion date of May 2. It is now May 13 and the framing still isnt complete. The framing that has been done has failed to pass city inspection 4 times (inspectors have been coming to our house since mid April to look at the same list of items and none of those items have been addressed). We are now trying to part ways with Sierra Home Services and they are not making it easy (currently asking us to pay even more money for work that hasnt been completed/to code). To make it easy, read all of the other 1 star reviews- our experience has been exactly the same as the issues described in those complaints/reviews.I am also going to summarize why you should NOT go with Sierra Home Services:They have no attention to detailThey have no follow throughThey cannot provide or stick to a timelineThey dont have access to the proper supplies, equipment, or labor to properly complete any significant construction projects. (Equipment was always breaking, employees were always sick, quitting, or getting fired, and orders were never placed/delivered when promised)There is no quality control (we had a gap from where they installed the new roof to match the old roof- the new roof didnt flush up with the old roof and was a few inches lower. It was so bad you could see the difference from the street)They have no respect for the homeowners property (the first thing this company did was remove the roof of our garage- in the middle of winter- and failed to provide any kind of weather protection. My husbands tool chest filled with water and our garage door opener is now fried)No one is available when they are needed (some of the work they did caused our basement to flood and cause our back awning to partially collapse under the weight of snow because they took down the support beams and didnt put anything back up).Their workers have no respect for dogs/kids- we found cigarette butts, garbage, and construction materials all over our backyard at the end of each day that someone was actually on site.If you do decide to go with Sierra Home Services, beware their contract that youll sign. The contract is very generic and vague and provides no protection to the homeowner. A substantial completion date is included in the contract but there is no wording about how that will be enforced or what happens in the event that the contractor misses that date (Bobs response to us was to just change the date). The contract stipulates that the work will be done to workmanship status (basically- the industry standard) but it is up to the homeowner to enforce that standard. The contract calls for progress payments through the course of the project, but these dates are arbitrary and not tied to work milestones. Often notification that a progress payment was due would be in the form of a text message from Bob saying hed be by the following day to pick up a check. If you were one of the lucky ones to have a good experience with Sierra Home Services- congratulations. I wish we had. In fact we tried very hard to be good partners and give Bob/Sierra Home Services a chance when they were struggling. Unfortunately they could not get over their difficulties. Working with this company has been nothing but stressful, disappointing and frustrating. And as of the time of writing, no one at the company is returning our phone calls, texts, or emails. All we want is for the framing to be up to code so that we can finish the project on our own.

Admittedly, it was a small kitchen job, the kind contractors dont want. Easy to get first appointment ... Bob Morris seems knowledgeable and had a good reference. But once he and we committed to the job, and we were handed off to the guy who would do the work it all fell apart. Bad follow up (his phone was broken, and after the 3rd explanation of that I said I didnt care about his phone), didnt coordinate with counter guy ... but all finally seemed fixed. Meeting set for 9:30 this morning with my granite guy. Got a call from the boss at 8:33 saying that we were fired. His worker didnt want to work with me because I was upset with his lack of communication. I apologized, said I was hoping we could just go forward on a positive note. He said hed talk to worker and get back to me. Never did. My granite guy showed up on time for meeting, but no-one else came or called. I take some blame for getting annoyed, but unless you are a doormat and dont care about hiring someone concerned with scheduling, or return phone calls, or coordinating with subs, or not showing up, these might not be the people for you.

Sierra Home Services was a pleasure to work with. Bob came to my house and was honest in his appraisal. Not only was he honest, he went out of his way to explain the differences in products that he would recommend and not recommend, and more importantly why! I highly suggest working with Sierra Home Services.

I had an extremely difficult experience with Sierra Home Services that lasted 10 months. After paying for a third of the project cost up front, I waited 7 months for them to start work and when they did begin they failed to receive a permit from the city. I asked for my money back and had to get an attorney involved to get responses from Bob over a dispute about how much money would be returned. The company has gone through some difficult personnel changes over the last few months. The new person over keeping the books is the best thing about the company, but she is having to clean up an incredible mess. When we asked for records of the cost of materials, Bob provided screen shots of home depot information and then marked the items up by 40%. I cant comment on the quality of work that they do, but the other group we had come in did an excellent job, for less money, and in the exact amount of time that they said it would take. The company is in a bad financial place and that may be negatively affecting new customers. When I did start to get some money back, they wrote three checks that took days to clear.

We hired Sierra Home Services to do a an earthquake retrofit of our old brick home. While the owner was very pleasant and knowledgeable during our initial meetings, the rest of the experience was simply awful. We paid a sizeable deposit in May 2018 and then experienced radio silence for the next few months. After contacting the owner by phone and e-mail several times, the company finally began work on our week-long project in November 2018--almost seven months later, and after a few half-hearted excuses about obtaining the permit. The owner asked for a second payment of a third of the cost when supplies were delivered, but before work had begun. A crew came to our house and put four holes in our roof and then things went from bad to worse. We asked them to cover the holes because of a coming storm. They said they would come. We had to call and remind them to come (after rain and snow had started.) They said they would move supplies from outside into our garage to protect them from the weather. We had to move them ourselves because they never came to do it. Several weeks passed and work inched along. After several days of no activity, a worker showed up on Thanksgiving morning, literally the only day I was unhappy to see someone here to work. We finally decided to start doing a little more research and called the city to make sure they had a permit for the work they were doing. They had never received one. At this point, we were a month into our week-long project and frankly, furious. We asked for our money back. The owner agreed. In the meantime, with the four holes still in our roof, we had another company complete the work. They did so within ten days of contracting with them and at a lower cost. I wish I could say our difficulties were done after that moment, but each time we received an installment of our repayment, we had difficulties cashing the check and had to try several times until we received the money. We also had to dispute with the company over the price of the materials. They wanted to charge us thousands of dollars more than the supplies were worth (We based our estimate on internet searches, the word of the project manager on our job, and the construction company that actually completed the work). The owner had no records other than screenshots of the Home Depot website and a post-it note, which revealed a 40% mark up (above retail!) We settled our dispute, mostly to be done dealing with this disorganized, unreliable, and difficult company, and not because we felt like they were giving us the money we were owed.

Sierra MissedWe hired Bob to renovate our kitchen, four bathrooms and to replace a tanked hot water heater with a tankless. He said that it was a four to six week job. He started on September 4th and promptly performed demolition. The estimated completion date was October 26th. He did not get a structural permit until October 25th and did not get a plumbing or electrical permit until November 27th. He would not answer emails or phone calls and his voicemail was always full. He deferred everything to the project manager who was managing 7-10 other jobs at the same time. He did not order appliances until we demanded to see the invoices on 12/31/19 and overcharged us for them. He bought a cheap shower glass kit instead of the European Glass that we had been promised and sent a picture of in an email. He bought a cheap tankless hot water tank at Lowes rather than the one he quoted to us in the estimate (over $1000 more than the one he bought) and then the tankless was not able to be used because it could not be vented (per a reliable plumber that we had to hire for $7200 to fix all of the plumbing issues). In the end, we fired him and spent over $20,000 to fix what they did wrong and finish the job ( in addition to paying him everything that we owed him plus $10k). I wrote a Facebook review that explained all of these issues in depth but he disabled Facebook reviews so that you cannot see it. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Department of Professional Licensing. He cannot continue to take advantage of people.DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!Please note the response from the owner to contact him to resolve the issue. The granite subcontractor is threatening to place a lien on our property due to nonpayment of services for $2675 for work they did. We made a $20,000 payment the day after the granite was installed. When I contacted him to fix the issue, he hung up on me and has been unresponsive for over a week.

We hired Sierra Home Services to do a major remodel of the main floor of our home. What a disaster!!! Weve been living in a construction zone for 10 long months. The job was supposed to take 90 days. The project was contracted to start on June 4, 2018 and to be substantially completed by August 31, 2018. Because of engineering and permit issues, the project didnt even kick off until the week after the 4th of July. The project completion day came and went, and we still didnt even have drywall!During demolition someone from SHS was always there. They removed debris and swept the floor before leaving each day. We were VERY impressed - until it came time to rebuild. We had done a lot of research of exactly what we wanted in our home. Bob was provided with a proof book which included all of the name brands, model #s, SKUs and MSRP of everything - Tile, flooring, countertops, cabinets, appliances - everything - right down to the type of drawer pulls we wanted. It cant come much easier than that! But, wed come home and find the walls were the wrong colors, the flooring was no-where near what we had specified, the door hardware was the wrong finish, etc. They did not install headers under the drywall for our barn doors, and installed standard size doors in the openings so that the doors swung free and would not stay in the floor guides. Within a few days of the paint drying, we noticed that it was bubbling and peeling off the walls in long rubbery strips. We kept having to send things back because everything was wrong! When we finally started putting the squeeze on them about the delays and complaining about the product switches and poor workmanship, Bob fired our project manager, blaming him for everything. The new project manager was even worse! Finally, they quit coming altogether and later tried to claim that my 20 year old son (whose name and signature do not appear anywhere on the contract) had fired them!Weve had to hire a few independent sub-contractors to finish the technical parts of the house that were left undone, and pay - again - for appliances, new barn doors, etc., but other than that, my 75-year old parents, my husband and I have had to finish the house ourselves (which has included taking out and re-doing many of the things that Bobs team did poorly or wrong). And I must say, weve done a better job ourselves than Bob and his team could ever dream of doing!!We too have filed complaints with DOPL, BBB, and CPS, and hope that action will be taken against Sierra Home Services soon. These guys shouldnt be allowed to do to anyone else what theyve done to us.STAY AWAY FROM SIERRA HOME SERVICES!!
