Just drove by and saw all this great food being left by the dumpster. Im a farmer and know the time, energy and resources that go into attaining this food. I took some strawberries, grapes, cucumber and other food that was destined for the landfill. I cant imagine why or how this is happening. Please explain? If you need additional assistance, Im sure we can help make sure all the donated food gets to the people who need it. Id rather walk the streets giving it away, then see it in a landfill!

Very helpful to those in need of food and clothing when the room is open, clothing room closed during pandemic. You call for an appointment or go by and talk to Ms.Connie and she will take great care of you. They literally fill a shopping cart up with groceries for your family and even help u load it. There is financial assistance available to those who qualify online by completing the process and providing the proof necessary when the funds are available. If you are looking to donate to a cause that really helps people in your community and goes above and beyond to provide assistance to those in need, this would be the place to give your donation too. They have a daily soup kitchen just across the street, just call for the hours, where the hungry are provided a hot meal free of charge. Ive seen the less fortunate come to use the phone and they are offered showers here and when other people stick up their noses and make faces the staff at Rowan Helping Ministries treats these people like family greeting each one by name. Ive sat and waited for many appointments while I watched people asleep in chairs in the lobby and they werent ran off or kicked out of the place. Theyre arent many places people who have no home can go and not be pushed away or treated badly but this is definitely a place that welcomes and honestly cares about all people, AND THEY SHOW IT IN THEIR ACTIONS!

Wonderful organization! The personnel/staff whether they are paid staff or volunteers are SO kind and helpful. They truly live up to their name. A safe, open and welcoming Christian environment that you can come to for assistance when you are at your lowest and most desperate of times. They go over and beyond to try and help you as much as they possibly can and they treat EVERYONE with respect and dignity. The main Receptionist, Ms. Connie, is The Best! I dont know what they would do without her.

I’ve been to helping hands 3 times in the past 3 days. With that being said, the staff there are nice however they do have a ‘list’ of apartments they base their rental assistance off of. I made an appointment over the phone after speaking with a lady about my situation and was told that they would be able to help only to show up 30 mins before my scheduled appointment just to be told ‘we can’t help you, sorry’. I feel like it needs to be addressed upfront which apartments they do actually work with so others won’t get their hopes up.

I donated some of my son and my coats there. Drove over where the people were sitting outside. I have the coats out to the people sitting outside. I sat amd talked to some of them for about an hour. Wish I could do more for them. I thank Salisbury NC for everything they are doing for our homeless.people.

The may give good things but the fact you have to wait like a pig for slaughter is demoralizing to any human being. I personally think they need to get a better system to help the people, It doesn’t take an hr just to call someone to the back nor does it take 15 minuets to write someone’s information down. Have more respect for the people and their time. They need help not to be treated like yesterday’s trash!

Rowan Helping Ministries gives you food every month if you need it, just go up there and apply. There is a wait. ***You will need SS #s of everyone in your household.***They help you pay youre power bill once a year. - *They do not give you the cash to pay it, They pay it with a voucher straight to the energy company.* - ***You will need an ID and SS numbers for everyone in your household and any proof of income. You will also need to bring the final notice energy bill for verification.***They will also give you some used clothes - (of your choosing), if you need them.

ANYONE WHO CAN DONATE BABY DIAPERS SIZES 1-5 WOULD B LOVELY BECAUSE THIS SHELTER ONLY HAS ADULT DIAPERS BUT HAS A FAMILY DORM SMH.

Whereas certain services offered are caring and helpful, my professional experience with my employment there for years was I witnessed that the RHM Homeless Shelter may either not understand criteria or might choose not to obide NC Gen Statutes for homelessness housing, no federal oversight for funding, not meeting Contract Veteran obligations, likely children or female being unsafe with being housed with sometimes over one hundred homeless men, not addressing substance abuse causal to homeless, not addressing unstable mental health causation to homeless... I did not sign or agree to any contract or confidentiality regarding my employment or experience there; Therefore I write upon what I witnessed. In my humble two Human Service degrees & 4 NC Cert for Case-Management, Substance Abuse, & At-Risk Youth... this facility applied sexism against men being employed or advanced, I witnessed refusal to work with the standard/expected best practice approach, refusal to interact with NC Health & Human Services, when I mentioned the DSM-V... only one employee even knew what that was... that being the Book of Rules for Formal Mental Health Diagnoses... So maybe if you give an average of over 50% a place to keep doing drugs, stay indefinitely, not access to mental health treatment, and basically not addressing any of the reasons the possible staying individuals... are actually continuing being homeless in the first place. What has been absolutely true is that to take such a religious approach, without lawful oversight can actually enable such individuals to continue their problematic behavior without addressing what is causing them to need that service in the first place. To run a 2.7 million dollar church facility in that way, they may want to include more effectives ways of assisting individuals whom are statistically responsible for the detriment of Rowan County & Salisbury NC. I am glad that both Concord NC & Kannapolis NC with comparable population have considerably less homelessness, crime, thefts, and injuries. Maybe Rowan Helping Ministries actually has considerable impact to those facts??

This is one of the best shelters there is.. The help across the street us great and comes from compassionate people.

Long wait(upwards of 3 hours somedays). Smelly/dirty waiting area. They have a foodbank, a clothing closet, and I think there is a shelter nearby, and a public kitchen that serves food. Not sure what else they assist with, but as for the foodbank, you get a shopping cart full of stuff.

I feel this place is racist 6 o clock curfew unless you have drug problems so they allow them to go get right then come on back. The paperwork needed isnt required as they say.....full of drunks and druggies..if thats what you do come sign your mortgage papers...food is cardboard plenty of water to drink dont expect anything else...we havent had a.c in the family room since we have been here. Just got hot water plenty of statement papers they thrive on that..certain guests as they call it more like inmates gets certain accommodations others dont if your white dont expect any though .....this place is so so unfairly un organized racist and is so not a family oriented shelter...the ones that should be in charge and care which are few in between cant help because thats what they are helpers....the procedures are so unorthodox its crazy everyone including the ones who run it and wrote the rules and regulations are confused about the rules and procedures it makes for a very uncomfortable and confusing place to get your affairs back in order ...it should have been a half way house for thats what it really is... if you are being harrassed doesnt matter who is right both have to leave kids or not tell me how they can do that if youre the one being harrassed and do what they say remember those statement papers...its b.s and whoever funds this place and is really in control should know this is going on its crazy how this is a shelter with nowhere else to go but you have to allow some one to bully you for the sake of your children please god help this place because for some this is really a last resort and for some a vacation resort

Great place if you are a convicted felon on post release. Lots of people with a ton of problems there. Im sure they do help some people but not a good place for the faint of heart. Lots and lots of drug dealing in Spencer, East Spencer and down near the projects on Bank Street

Ive been to them numerous times in dire need of help and they were of no assistance. I was on the brink of being evicted and I called over and over and when I finally got through I was told that they couldnt assist me due to my landlord not being on their landlord list. Why is there even a list? If a person is desperate for help, especially a single mother like myself with an infant there should be exceptions to the rules. A mother and child should not be homeless because a so-called ministry rejected them due to some list! Im very disappointed. For future reference, if you are going to help the less fortunate make sure you do it whole heartedly, no one should be turned away at their lowest point!

Hud Vash Program And a t the time a very nice Woman The name of Mrs. Hattie johnson Nothing but LOVE) helped me move from Statesville and it took e only from August 8th, until my exact out date Dec 2 Nd and lived by the VA front entrance for 2 yrs and 3 months so far . I am about to become total independent from all the welfare class income. It took three years to become this way Very much THanks to Recently deceased wife of 19 years. Between The Transition of changing income and help with the Funeral have verlittls Funds to pay bills. I once again politely request Help ot the Ministry to help me Financially.Mr. Thomas R. Jones
