I guess your opinion of this place will vary depending on your reason for visiting this place. Everyone seemed nice and helpful. Hopefully my kids child support starts paying soon. Lol

The receptionist was friendly and knowledgeable. Not yet open for one on one meeting with caseworkers.

Most of the people are nice here. The most important thing though, I can never get my caseworker on the phone. It is so frustrating. Also they keep switching my caseworker.

These people do NOT do their jobs...period. I have been lied to by my case worker Tonya White and have sent emails and called supervisors Karen Bost and Beth Berry with no response. Rowan county does not do their job here and to top it off they are using covid as excuses to avoid people. You cant call the main number because it just hangs up...doesnt even ring. You have to look the individuals number up on their website. But I have already figured out that doesnt get you anywhere. They are not for helping us. They seem to want a free paycheck while we all suffer and can do nothing about it. Such a sorry group of people!

Nobody ever answers their phones, they don’t call back, can’t even get in touch with supervisors. This place is very poorly run. There is no excuse for this bs. These people are supposed to be helping others and they have a problem with it. They’re all in the wrong careers.

All I can say is if you call 1 department they will research your name and have other departments calling you grilling you about your situation as if trying to catch you in a lie but they can never help you with a bill or anything that you call for this place needs a major change. I will be calling city hall on the lot of them!

Rude, uncaring, passive - aggressive, condescending, and unhelpful. They lowered my food stamps to 37.00 and the female who i was assigned to was so very rude and condescending towards me on the phone for no reason, other than thinking she is above me.

This place is selective assistance they help who they want their friends and relatives . I took a friend there she had a appointment we waited 2 hours after the appointment time after we took a number I watched as many others did not even take a number and they were called by name and taken ahead? Who oversees this place ? Not the Manager she could care less as well read all the reviews it is not just me it is many others as well .like I saidSELECTIVE ASSISTANCE!!

This place is a joke! They call you from a blocked number and will leave a voicemail asking you to return their call but when you call they never call back! An good luck trying to see your caseworker in person the people in front try to help you as much as they can but as far as seeing your caseworker its rare to never.

Terrible people. Unprofessional and don’t know what they are doing. I don’t recommend living in Rowan County because the Social Services is the worst. They never answer their phones, they are slow, you have to wait forever, outdated, and just the absolute worst.

Business Command was the department that helped me out today with the questions I had about my upcoming move back to NC to Rowan County was very knowledgeable and wonderful attitude

This place is a joke I been calling for literally 2 weeks and yet to get a call back or anything the damn place is like Wal-Mart all these people supposed to work their but no one is ever around period Im disappointed and so much more I have even spoke to three people and all they do is send me to a damn voicemail!!! Discrimination is what they do if the person dont fit their specifics they dont make time for u and I will b taking further actions against them

Ive had multiple problems with this place. My biggest problem is no one answering the phone. Ms. Kivett NEVER answers the phone and usually doesnt call back, neither does her supervisor. She even told me while doing my food stamps that she just didnt do it as in finishing them. Then it took me 3 weeks if not more to even get them.They just tried to put me through to the deputy director (think thats what they called her) and she didnt answer either! If I could go anywhere else I would. This is ridiculous. Guess Ill have to wait and see if I ever get a call back from her now.Half the time you cant even get through to the operator.

Only reason i gave it 1 star is so i can write a review. Its complete bs my caseworker wont call me back! Terninated mine an my kids medicaid with no reasoning then dont wanna call back to explain why. This aint tje first time Ive had problems either!!

Lazy lying cons. After cancer diagnosis...No help whatsoever. Higenbottom...wowYes, I am also disabled taxpayer... But do not judge. The Lord giveth..and Taketh away. Cant get to Heaven looking down on people all time.

So let me get this straight - you guys and gals are whining about a company that gives you stuff for free, out of other taxpayers pockets.Personal Responsibility people. The only complaints on this board should come from people who truly have disabled dependents, or are disabled themselves. And we arent talking about hangnail disabled - truly disabled - cant work.Personal Responsibility. Adopt that, and youll never have to call the DSS office again, and it wont matter whether they pick up the phone or not because you will be taking care of yourself and your family without someone elses money.

The operators at Rowan County DSS should be promoted to supervisors. They are efficient, knowledgeable, pleasant, and compassionate. I wish I could say the same for the case work staff-

The system in place to serve Rowan County only marginally does so! I found the staff at DSS to be aloof and callous. They deal with lives and crisis and turmoil and I guess they have become hardened to it all. They are slow to respond both in person and by phone. Like many govt. agencies, they abuse voice mail to avoid timely interaction with the public and there hasnt been one instance when a live person has picked up the phone at the extension I was sent to!!! Slow like sloths and project a complete lack of care, compassion or empathy!

Lazy!!!! Getting ahold of my caseworker about my NEWBORNS (something important) medical insurance has been impossible. 2 months Ive called every day and she doesnt return my phone call. This is the 2nd time Ive had issues with her. Lazy workers need to be disciplined.

According to my friend Stephen, this Rowan DSS is the one that is backwards on everything. The DSS of Rowan Co. may still continue the practice of victim-blaming, blaming the victims instead of the wrong-doers. Think about it. If some father acts like a total son of a bullshit and hurts a kid, theres no damn way the DSS would come to the house, and determines that the father is fit to raise the kid and instead insists on blaming the victim that is the kid who suffered. Think about it. DSS failed the victims of abusive households. For example, the Erica Parsons case. When there was reports of abuse and neglect at the Parsons household, two of these parents turned murderers, Casey

I don’t see how so many people work here but nobody can never answer the phone, why tell someone to leave a message and you will call them back but never call back. My case worker is NEVER there throw the whole building away bruh and try again

I wish I could give a negative one star I have been calling for 2 weeks and no one has returned my call had to go in person to get what I was suppose to get in the mail.

Been trying to get my worker for 2 months. I just had surgery can’t get out there. I even called a manager Several times no one will return my calls. Glad not on my dealth bed.
