Great work at good prices. Always impeccably honest. I knocked one star off because the owner consistently underestimates how long it is going to take to get to your vehicle then gets fussy with you when you call to check on the progress on the timeline *he* articulated. Much better to over estimate and the deliver early than to be constantly blowing your own self imposed deadlines.

As returning customer we trusted Cliff and his team with our truck. As anyone can research online, a trained mechanic will remove the torque converter/transmission in order to gain good access to the rear main oil seal(Cliffs automotive replaced all the oil seals). Cliff himself told me that they had to wait for the lift because of the transmission. Fast forward 400 miles, the bolts from the torque converter fell out because they were left loose. I now have a truck with a broken crank shaft. The mechanic that worked on the truck for the previous 20 years said there is a way out for a dishonest mechanic, and Cliff himself took the cheap way out, denying any wrong doing. Now Im left with scrap metal when I used to have a good truck.Update: I started receiving images from what I can only guess is Cliffs cell? No introduction just generalized instructions. I responded with documentation from the shop manual with very specific instructions to tighten the torque converter, and received yet another generalized instruction picture.No words on his part, very unprofessional. He must know something or would have left the situation alone after he denied everything on the phone. If anyone is interested I can show the receipt where he changed the oil pan gasket.

I took my SUV here for a repair. I was told there may be a two day wait but they got the job done same day! Excellent service and repair. Will go back again!

Unprofessional. Late to open. But the furthest door from my elderly mother who was the customer was open. So after waiting until 10 after I walked to to furthest door, walked through where two mechanics were speaking amongst themselves to open the door for my elderly mother.No hello. I let my mother in and the guy who was chatty who was still there walked away from us while walking to the counter. I said is someone going to check us in and the rude mechanic turned half around and gave my mother and I a look like you want trouble. Hilariously unprofessional. Gave them a piece of our mind professionally they lost easy money and gained a bad review.Great job guys. And no worries, we fixed it free👍

“Cliff” was condescending and totally unhelpful. Put me on hold for “a very important customer who is stranded”…I was also stranded. But not important, it seems.

Cliffs Automotive was recommended to us by Rick at Salem Transmission (who we also highly recommend). Wed already called a few places who estimated between $1,000 and $3,000 for the work our van needed, and we wanted to get one more opinion. My husband called Cliff and he said we could bring our van in the next morning. He even offered to come pick it up at our house for us. Turns out our van needed something much simpler and he was able to fix it in just a few hours. Total cost was under $500. It was a huge relief and weight off our shoulders to work with an honest mechanic. We wont be going anywhere else now.

This guy [Cliff] was absolutely amazing! Im not a local and was trying to head home [Ca] when my tire pressure lights came on & also needed an oil change. Called in at 7:40am, Cliff got me in w/o an appointment asap and took full take of my car. He was super sweet with advice showing he truly cares & has a good sense of humor.Plan on moving to the area and will definitely be back & recommend Cliff.

I will be the first to say I know nothing about cars. Ive been learning, but when I called them, I had no idea how to explain what was going on with my Honda. I got it to them Friday after hours and they had it fixed and ready to go by Monday (and Im like 95% sure theyre closed on the weekends)! My cars running perfect now and my original problem is fixed! They did an A+ job!

I lost a front hub in my truck while traveling, after searching for shops in the area I found Cliffs. I read the reviews and called an got a quote. Cliff and his mechanics gave a fair quote with different parts/prices and completed the work timely, professionally and within budget. I was able to get it all done that day and was very pleased!!!! They can provide parking but you have to give them your keys. I had a fuel pump replaced. They did okay but are proud of prices. Just not the cheapest place. But good service.

My car wouldnt start all weekend, asked around for some recommendations and was told Cliffs. Had my dad take my car in Monday, with no appointment. Had just enough time to diagnose a bad fuel pump before closing, and despite having a full lot, Cliff had me back on the road Tuesday with a new fuel pump and even an oil change, and stuck to my original quote, even though it took several more hours than expected. Sandy worked with me on payment and pick-up as I was working out of town and couldnt get there before closing. I couldnt have hoped for better service!!

They fixed my car but were very rude and condescending. Not going there again.

Prices are extremely high, their mechanic work much slower then me I guess LOL. I can do a job that they bill an hour for in under 5 minutes hahah

I was in Salem for a one day conference when my car started driving very rough and the check engine light started to blink. Not only was I able to get an appointment right away, they were able to return my car within a few hours so I could drive home.

He left his open sign on and was gone for 1 hour and 15 minutes that I know of while I waited in his parking lot. Once he arrived he gave me an over priced quote off the top of his head without looking it up first. When I basically scoffed at that amount he said dont bother coming back. I dealt with him for a grand total of 5 minutes. And I never will again. Rude and temperamental.He told me $300 to $500 parts + labor.I got it done for $200 parts + labor elsewhere.Which is why I had scoffed at him.Just another prick.

We were traveling and our car broke down. They searched all over town to find the only part available and got us back on the road within 3 hours. They were very polite and professional and we cannot recommend them enough! Thank you for saving our vacation!

If I had taken my PT Cruiser to Cliffs first, I would have saved myself $$ that I paid another shop just to do a diagnostic test with no conclusion & the promise from this shop that Ill need to pay more $$ just for them to diagnose it further & let them keep my car for a few days.Cliffs had a good idea of what the problem may be over the phone & took care of it immediately (in 1 day) at a fair price that was much less that the cost the other shop was going to charge just to investigate the problem further.Its a relief to now have a auto repair shop that I feel I can trust!

I will never take my car to this place again. I asked for full tune up and all they did was change the plugs and charged me $127. $20 for the plugs and $98 for the labor.
