They were awesome! So nice and accommodating! They told me it would be 20-30 minutes to have my car smogged. It took them literally 3 minutes! It was a reasonable price too!

I had to get my truck registration done an was told must have it smoggedI had never had to do that before. I checked with Les Scwab where I get my tires done and they referred me here said all their vehicles are done here. I called and was given a time I requested, the work was done professionally, quickly and was a very nice experience. They are all more than professional they are welcoming and considerate. I will be using them in the future for my service work for my truck.

This place is the worst. They had my vehicle for over a month and charged me over $1,000 to fix things that did not fix my vehicle. They claimed that they could solve the problem but I eventually had to take it to a dealership to get a correct diagnosis. The dealership inform me that there were things that smog Diagnostics claim to fix that were not fixed in the dealership sent me photos to prove it. I contacted smog Diagnostics and they denied any wrongdoing and offered me a refund for one thing that they claim that they fixed but didnt. I called back to claim my refund and they did not want to give me my refund. There are many other shops on Northgate I highly suggest you go elsewhere if you need work done on your vehicle.

I know how to drive one, how to put gas in and when to take it in for basic maintenance--thats about it. They do excellent work on all my vehicles. When they fix a problem, its fixed. The people are polite and professional. They dont keep you waiting when I go in initially. Weve been taking our vehicles to Smog Diagnostic Specialists on Northgate for almost a decade, now, and have been consistently satisfied with the work theyve done for us. It started as a place to get our oil changed. But as weve developed a relationship with the folks, here, and have come across different issues with the cars as theyve aged, the services theyve provided for us have ranged from major engine work to transmissions to electrical issues. Having a mechanic you can trust is on par with having a tattoo artist you love: once you find him or her, you gotta stay put. Well be staying put with this team!

If youre reading this please keep driving and look someplace else for your smog check. I went here at the recommendation of a friend, a car mechanic, and ended up having to make four visits and spent a cumulative total of approximately three hours of time in their waiting room. I also had to prove to them my S&B intake tube is CARB compliant.On the first visit the tech failed my truck because he said I had the wrong part installed (S&B intake tube) even though theres a CARB exemption sticker on the tube. I also had a disconnected Edge Mileage Max CPU mounted in my engine compartment. As a result I had to go to the CARB website, print out the specific exemption for the S&B intake tube, print out the exemption for the Edge Mileage Max, print out the purchase invoice from Amazon for the S&B intake tube, remove the disconnected Edge Mileage Max from the engine compartment, which has been disconnected for the past 10 years, and then bring everything back for reinspection.On the second visit it was 3:30 pm and they were too busy, so I had to return the next day. When I brought everything back the next day, on the third visit, the tech failed me again because he couldnt read the number 7 stamped on the S&B CARB exemption sticker on the intake. So I had to contact S&B, have them snail mail me a new sticker, which is the EXACT SAME sticker as the original sticker, and then bring everything back again.On the fourth visit the tech and two other employees were up in the engine compartment going over the air intake with inspection mirrors!!! The tech eventually passed the truck, installed the new S&B sticker on the intake tube, and removed the original sticker.While completing the paperwork in the office the front desk guy said it was going to be another $35, for the reinspection fee and certificate. This was in addition to the $61 that I had already paid during the first visit, which would have put me over $95 just for a simple smog check. However, when I was there during my third trip another front desk guy told me that because I had already been there three times he wasnt going to charge me a reinspection fee when I brought the truck back the fourth time. I mentioned this statement to the front desk guy and after verifying the statement, he agreed to waive the reinspection fee, so I only had to pay $8.25 for the certificate, plus $2 for data transfer (seriously, data transfer??). Ohhhh, I cant thank them enough for not charging me a reinspection fee when there was nothing wrong with my truck to begin with, everything was in order and legitimate, and I had to go there four separate times over the period of a month, during which time my registration tags expired. By the way, just for anyone who has read all the way to this point, diesel trucks in the weight class of my truck dont get checked for smog emissions with a tailpipe sniffer, they only get a visual inspection to ensure all of the smog equipment is in place and the truck isnt smoking excessively.This place was a major hassle for me; Ill never go back.

Almost got into a serious accident due to their carelessness. Had the car towed here after getting into a small car accident. The guy I talked to was friendly and professional. After a few days I was told my car was ready to be picked up. As I was accelerating to merge on the freeway, the hood popped open and completely blocked my view. I pulled over and realized the hood would not close and it was unsafe to drive. I drive the car back to them and asked if they knew the hood wouldnt close. They responded Yeah. I responded Then the car is unsafe to drive, the hood opened up when I got on the freeway. He then responded Yeah you probably shouldnt drive it... I was very irritated. Yes I know they dont do body work, but I should have been warned that the hood was broken before they handed me my keys. My insurance agent also was never told that the hood was damaged. They would have considered my car a total loss and it would have saved me a lot of trouble. This lack of oversight could have seriously killed me. I would not trust this shop with your safety.

They charged me more than normal for smog (checked at several places )and also the technician did not show up for the whole day.

They told me one thing and did another then demanded payment for it!!! he didnt know that i am a certified auto Technician and when i confronted him about what he did he tried lying to me and changing the subject. Absolutely shameful, such a disgrace. These guys give all auto shops a bad name!! I am not the only one.

My truck didnt pass smog here and They tried charging me 1300 for a repair that i didnt need, i took it to other shop and it passed smog like nothing and told me everything was fine nothing wrong .so save your money and go some where else these people just want to rip people off..smh

After finding one of smog machines failing vehicles that should of passed we have made the appropriate measures of having the manufacture of the smog machine make the appropriate repairs so no other vehicles are failed. While that machine is down we are only using one smog machine at this time until the 2nd machine is back up and running properly. In regards to Bills review we have contacted Bill directly and explained the issues we are having with that machine and have refunded Bill $51.00 and have also offered him a free oil & filter change to make up for the inconvenience he was caused.Thank you,Smog DiagnosticsRobert

Half the price everywhere else for a smog.The guy at the counter quoted me $140 to top off my a/c that already blows cold. Highway robbery. Mabe its because Im a girl..... went down the street to a shop on the corner of El Camino and Northgate where I paid $50 for smog and $40 for a/c fill.

They are the best!After months of frustration and angst over completing the required Smog Certification process on my 91 Ford F250 pickup, the guys at Smog Diagnostic Specialists on Northgate Boulevard were awesome and were able to repair and successfully certify my truck at a very reasonable price. Juan, Michael and Miguel are not only experts at diagnosing the problems, they are pleasant and reassuring in dealing with the customer. Im so pleased with the service I received and will surely be a lifelong return customer. I just dont understand why other businesses are unable to provide the professional service that is the standard for Smog Diagnostic Specialists of Northgate.Thanks for taking the time to do the job right and not taking advantage of my situation when it came to the bill.

For a smog shop star station, you would think they would have the right equipment and techs to perform the inspection. My vehicle got turned down because it was lifted. In the other hand, the staff were friendly and gave other options to other shops. I found a shop that could do it and made the other smog shops seem bogus. 3 stars for the effort.
