I highly recommend Cruise Transmission for good quality transmission rebuilding. Hans seems to be an expert in this category, because he understood my problem as I explained the issue. He took my 2001 GMC Savana 1500 for a ride and diagnosed it. He concurred that my reverse gear only works for the first 5 minutes on a cold start. Then reverse would slip into “neutral” and not back up the vehicle while it was warm. I had all 4 forward gears working fine on my 4L60e typical transmission. Hans knew exactly what to do. He quoted $2000 (not to exceed) and I agreed. Yes, fix it Hans. He told me it would take 1 week. I could see he had many vehicles in his shop and looked quite busy. Hans had my Van fixed in 5 days. I was surprised and delighted, because Hans charged less than estimated. I paid him in cash and took my van home. Now the transmission seemed to work better than ever before. So, 2 days later, I drove up to Higgins Lake ORV Trailhead and took my son dirt biking. The van towed our trailer & bikes better than before seemingly with less friction and at a comfortable RPM on the 5.7L engine. Bravo. Best transmission repair that I’ve ever had completed. I have had 3 transmissions repaired on 3 different vehicles in my life. While I was at Cruise Transmission I noticed that Hans does Auto Repairs on all makes & models. No limitations to his talent as he is a Master Mechanic. I am very satisfied. Kind regards, Joe G
Full rebuild on a 5.7 hemi and Hans had my truck a total of 17 days. outstanding 👌 I cant thank you enough. theres a lot of valve valve train noise but shes running just fine
I brought my 2011 Chevy Tahoe here to have the transmission cooling lines and ball joints replaced. I was also losing coolant and Belle Tire couldnt figure it out - they said maybe the engine is burning it - not too comforting. Hans at Cruise said let me call you right back and in 5 minutes indicated that after a pressure test, the water pump gasket was leaking. After replacing the transmission cooling lines, lower ball joints and the entire water pump within one day, the bill was lower than estimated and everything works great.I like to support a smaller business whenever possible and I was not disappointed in this case at all. Thanks Hans and team!Erik
Hans did a fantastic job on my 2014 Jeep Patriot drive shaft replacement. I highly recommend his services.
A leaky PTU on my Lincoln (this and the water pumps are guaranteed to go on Ford & Lincolns) and I was recommended to Hans for Trans work by my brothers friend that owns a collision shop down the road.Hans has a solid rep with those in the business, and the prices he quoted me were fair/spot-on/industry standard. He had my car for a day! Turned that puppy around efficiently, and took the time to answer all my questions.Trustworthy and fair, I totally recommend Hans & Cruise Transmission.
He might be a great mechanic but certainly not even close to decent when it comes to talking. Go here if only thing that matters to you is your vehicle and not your self respect.
First class service, over many years helping myself and family with a wide variety of auto problems.
Brought my wife’s car in for some repairs and they had it done in 2 days. When i came to pick up her car i dropped mine off the same day and picked up three days later. Both run great! These guys are fair and honest! I recommend to anyone in need of a great mechanic!
I recommend Cruise Transmission to anyone looking for a quality mechanic. My go-to in the area for cost-effective maintenance and repair.
Quality repair job, fair price, fast turnaround time and never any pressure for additional work. Hans always does a great job. I wouldnt take my car anywhere else.
Terrible! Do NOT go here. A little bit over a year ago I took my car here because it was shifting rough. I already had a quote from another place for 1500 for a used trans. I wanted a second opinion so I took it here. When I called I asked if they have free diagnostic, man hesitated but said yes. So, I took my car here and they do the diagnostic. He says the same thing as the other place but quotes me like 2500 for a used. I said I found it cheaper elsewhere and picked my car up and he says that it’ll be 50$ for the diagnostic!!! What???! All the did was put fluid in to see if there’s a leak. I am a very reasonable person and understand you need to recoup the cost of the fluid. That I’m okay with. But to charge like 40$ labor on a “free” 10 min diagnostic is ridiculous and I will NEVER go back here or recommend this place to anyone. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I ended up going to USA transmissions in Waterford and they did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. Going on a year since the work and it’s still going strong!!!
Brought my truck to them to troubleshoot and repair work i had done by another mechanic. They did an excellent job and was very reasonable on price. Above all they were honest about what repairs were needed and didnt charge me for unnecessary work. I would definately go there again.
DO NOT GO HERE! It’s a shady place. Took my truck her driving and I had to tow it away. The would not take responsibility. Towed it to the dealership and they told me the shop was responsible for damaging the truck further than my original problem. Do NOT GO Here.
Had to have our car towed to them with a possible bad starter. They gave me a tow service to call and it worked out good. Hans said it would take a day to get the starter and it would be completed the next day. He called back, found the part and the car was complete by 5 PM the same day. I thought the cost to replace a starter was pricey compared to others we called and Ive also done it myself but Id say the same day service helped make up for it.
Hans is great. Ive been going here for the past five years and have always been satisfied with the quality of work that is done. The folks who work here always do a great job, while keeping the price down compared to other mechanics Ive been to.
Excellent service! Needed a clutch changed, was a very extensive job and these guys took care of it no problem. Made it very convenient dropping my car off and picking it up. Couldnt ask for better. Very fair pricing for a shop these days as well. Have no qualms about going here! Thanks again!
Love this place. Always does decent job with reasonable price. He has done transmission repair, timing belt, water pump, air conditioning, etc. on my car to name a few. Yes, he is a typical mechanic guy, and may not be the easiest person to approach. But once he starts working on the car, he does his job. He is an honest guy. I highly recommend this place to do any auto repair.
These guys are the best. They have not done trans work for me but have fixed everything else on my cars. As a female, they spell it out for me. I have older, high mileage cars and if its a small repair that isnt a safety concern and would cost more than its worth they are honest about it. Or if it is necessary they will let me know.
Personal attention by the owner, quality repairs with quality parts, and fair pricing is what has brought me back to this mechanic consistently for decades. I recommend this establishment to my friends, family, and coworkers for any and all automotive repairs or maintenance and I have NEVER heard of any complaints from them. They are a small shop so sometimes they can be very busy, but if they were not busy I would be more concerned!
Highly recommend these guys. They figured out the problem quickly. Very knowledgeable and I will be regular!
Very honest managers. He could of raked me over with coals. I would recommend this place to anyone that needs work done on there car.
Very professional guys. I recommend them to very car owner. Keep it up!
This was the only place that would do what I asked with the transmission. Every other place wanted to charge me way too much for a rebuild when all I wanted was a flush and fill. And he didnt overcharge for that wither. He gets all my future business
Repaired our work Van in an timely fashion.
My truck started to have issues with accelerating and going into gear. So I was recommended to go to Cruise Transmissions. Each time I walked into the office (unless someone was already at a desk) I would be waiting for at least 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge me. The man who would dealt with me always seemed unhappy to see me and was very rude. After Cruise Transmissions drove the truck they thought the problem was with the transmission so for a hefty some of money they did a complete transmission inspection. Thankfully they found that the problem wasnt with the transmission but instead the catalytic converter which just needed to be replaced. Once replaced I picked up the truck and drove it for a week until the truck started having the same problems. After taking it back they realized the converter was bad so they replaced it with no extra fee. But after putting in the 2nd converter I took the truck for a oil change and the mechanics showed me that Cruise had done a completely crap job of welding the exhaust to the converter. The welding had holes and was a rushed job. Overall I cannot comment on their ability to fix transmissions but will definitely not be going back for any auto repair.
My SUV blew a trans fluid line and it was repaired in less than 8 hrs. Very impressive and satisfied on my end. Highly reccomendend and professional. Thanks again Cruise Transmission.
Will actually do what you ask without harassing you for more work
Great service! Honest, fair and good. Highly recommend Cruise.
Pretty quick service and friendly would definitely recommend them
I really dont like leaving poor reviews but this garage deserves one. I went in for mantience in preparation for a cross country trip, (oil change, coolant flush, and new belts). The car was completed quickly and the price was fair so I left happy.... at first. I didnt get far before the power steering went offline and my car started leaking ALOT of coolant. When I popped the hood, I noticed the new power steering pump belt had cut into the lower radiator hose, causing it to spill its guts and the wet belt couldnt turn the power steering pump. I suspected the hose had been put in backwards, causing it to be in the way of the belt. When I had the car towed back, the owner told me the hose couldnt be put in backwards, it only fits in one way. He replaced the hose and belt free of charge and sent me on my way. I took a before and after picture to compare the two hose orientations.... And discovered he did indeed have the hose backwards when he put it back in from the flush the first time. I have now taken my car to Morgans in Clarkston to get looked over one more time, come to find out there is slush my my overflow. So instead of topping my car off with coolant after replacing the hose that Cruiss put in backwards, they topped my car off with water.... in winter. Now the coolant ratio is off and slushy, and I need yet another radiator flush. I really dont like talking bad about someones business because it is their livelihood, but Cruise Transmission and Auto Repair was a huge disappointment and headache. I will not be going back for future repairs.12/27/16 Update: They also told me they greased all my grease fittings but I just went under the car and each one took several pumps from the grease gun.... The disappointment continues and I am lowering their rating from 2 stars to 1.
Worst person I ever delt with in life period. 2000 to rebuild my trans which broke in 30 000 miles and he wants two grand again. 50 just to take a look at the pour job done prior. Dont waste your time going here.
Honest, fair prices, and quick turnarounds.
Very helpful
Top notch service!
Amazing, honest, and fair!
Very honest, as advertised
